Today, many teachers and parents are worried about students' careless handwriting. Some write characters in the wrong order, while others write so quickly that their handwriting is hard to read. This problem has made people rethink the value and long history of Chinese characters.
Chinese writing has a very long history. In the beginning, it was made of simple pictures. They can be found on animal bones and shells. Interestingly, some can still be seen in today's hanzi. Even new characters could be created by putting simple pictures together to express new meanings. For example, "企" might be written as " " in the past (as shown in the picture on the right). By the Shang Dynasty, they had become a complete writing system.
Later, different areas developed different characters. This changed in the Qin Dynasty, when Emperor Qinshihuang unified (统一) the whole country. He ordered people across China to use the same kind of writing. This made communication easier and helped unite the country.
Written Chinese also connects modern China with its past. Even today, people can still read classic poems and books written thousands of years ago. These works show how Chinese writing has become a powerful vehicle for passing down ideas, memories and cultures. Later, Chinese characters further developed into calligraphy, an art form that expresses both meaning and emotion.
Nowadays, as China plays a larger role in the world, more international students are learning Chinese to understand its rich culture. For young people, writing characters carefully is not just a basic skill, but also a way to pass on this ancient and lively cultural tradition.

Late one afternoon, two men stood in a quiet street near the harbor (港口). One was looking at the sea, the other held a piece of paper tightly (紧紧地) in his hand.
A cold wind blew through the street, and several ships were sailing with it. With serious looks on their faces, they stood near the harbor, and no one knew what they were waiting for.
At last, the taller man complained. "If only he were here," he said. They were waiting for Mr. Hale, the only man who had solved their problems before. He understood every secret in the letter and knew what they should do next. The other nodded but said nothing. He looked at the paper again, folded it slowly, and put it inside his coat. The sound of singing water came from the harbor, but neither of them turned.
Earlier that day, Bassanio had rushed into Antonio's house with bright, excited eyes. He waved a letter and spoke so quickly that Antonio could hardly follow his words. But as he explained his wish, the excitement began to die away. When Antonio asked how much money he needed, Bassanio's voice became nervous, and he held the letter tightly. Finally, when Bassanio said he needed more money than any friend could lend, Antonio shook his head. After seeing this, Bassanio's face turned white, the excitement disappeared, and worry followed.
Antonio walked around and around the room, and finally stopped beside Bassanio. "If this is your wish, I will help you," Antonio said, though his own voice shook. "Come with me. We must find someone who can lend us the money." Before Bassanio could answer, Antonio had taken his arm and hurried him out the door.
Now, as it was getting darker, the two men near the harbor waited for someone who might decide their future. A heavy step suddenly echoed (回响) at the end of the street.
The two men turned at once. They did not know what the stranger would say, but they knew everything depended on his answer.

① "Don't lie." We often hear this when we are young, but lying is still common in daily life. For example, people always say they are on the way, but they are still at home. Why do we lie, and what can we do about it?
②Experts say lying often happens in low-pressure situations. In one study, volunteers took a test and reported their scores, while a machine secretly recorded the real scores. The result showed that many volunteers added one or two points. Experts explain that people lie mainly to get a small advantage, and they believe they won't be caught and the lie won't hurt anyone, so they can still feel like "good" people.
③This is why such lies can be hard to notice. To study why people lie, researchers group different lies. Finally, they find three common types of lies in daily life.
④Here are the descriptions and examples of the three (shown in the picture on the right). A friend might say "Your speech was great!" even if it wasn't (white lie). Someone may lie about the score to win a prize (self-serving lie), and a student may lie about finishing homework (avoidance lie).A: White lies - to protect someone's feelings.B: Self-serving lies - to get something for yourself.C: Avoidance lies - to run away from trouble or responsibility.A: White lies—to protect someone's feelings.
B: Self-serving lies—to get something for yourself.
C: Avoidance lies — to run away from trouble or responsibility.
⑤After knowing the types, we can learn some useful ways to help control lying. Although white lies are harmless, too many may cover the real problems and stop honest communication. Self-serving lies require clear rules and honest conversations so that people do not depend on lying to get rewards. Avoidance lies can become less if people are allowed to make mistakes and encouraged to face problems directly.
⑥Lying will not disappear, but understanding why we lie and how to control it can help us live more honestly and build trust with others.
56. Why did many volunteers add scores in the test?
A. Because they were often in high-pressure situations.
B. Because they worried that the machine might be wrong.
C. Because they thought the lie was too big to be noticed.
D. Because they felt safe and believed the lie wouldn't hurt.
57. What type of lie does each picture show?
A. ①—C, ②—A, ③—B B. ①—C, ②—B, ③—A
C. ①—B, ②—A, ③—C D. ①—B, ②—C, ③—A
58. Which opinion would the writer agree with?
A. White lies should be avoided in different stressful situations. B. If you stop avoidance lies, other lies will disappear, too.
C. People would lie more if they were allowed to make mistakes. D. Understanding our reasons for lying is the first step to honesty.
59. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
A. B.
C. D.

On November 24, 2025, Lang Ping was awarded the Coaches Lifetime Achievement Awards, one of the highest honors for coaches. It is no surprise that she is loved by many people.
Back in 2015, when the Chinese team was preparing for the World Cup, the team that Lang Ping built was falling apart. One top player was hurt, and the team leader had to leave because of heart problems. Losing two key members was a huge challenge, but Lang Ping never lost heart. She encouraged her players with kindness. She often spoke to them with patience and warm support, helping them feel confident again.
Two weeks later, they won! Then in 2016, Lang Ping led them to Olympic gold in Brazil. When China's national song was played in the big world stadium, many at home and abroad sang it together with tears and excitement, and people everywhere mentioned her name for the honor she brought to the country.
RayMan:
Have you ever looked at a simple drawing and felt something deep inside? That's the magic of Feng Zikai's painting, a magic that brought him love from people across China.
Although born in a rich family, Feng had no interest in traditional studies but fell in love with art from childhood. His teacher encouraged him to follow his heart, and taught him that a great artist needs both skills and good character.
With a kind heart, Feng cared deeply for children. He always spoke to them gently and once said teaching children was simple, "I let them keep their childlike heart"
In 1921, Feng went to Tokyo to study art, bringing back fresh ideas. When he returned to China, his drawings soon became popular, and he brought great honor to China by making Chinese manhua known worldwide. Even today, his spirit continues to inspire (激励) people.

X. 概要补全。(90 和 92 小题,每小题 2 分;89 和 91 小题,每小题 3 分;共 10 分)
Misinformation (假消息) is seen everywhere online, especially with so many AI tools helping people create photos, videos, or messages in just seconds. Some of these things look true, but in fact they are not. They spread quickly and they cause lots of problems in our daily lives. What should we do with it?
To understand misinformation, we do not need to learn many difficult terms. We just need to keep one simple idea in mind. We see different kinds of messages every day. Some are based on real facts, but others are made up to trick people into believing something wrong. Even if a person shares it without meaning to hurt others, misinformation can still spread fast and cause trouble.
People meet misinformation in many situations. For example, students may see a health tip on social media that is not true, or parents may receive a message about a school event that never happened. Experts suggest several simple ways for people to choose the right information. First, check where the message comes from. True information often appears in more than one place. Also, look for facts, such as names or numbers, because real messages usually give clear evidence.
However, even when people follow these suggestions, new problems may still appear. Some readers find it hard to judge (判断) information when they read very quickly, while others have to spend too much time making correct judgments. A study gives a helpful answer. In the study, a teacher taught students a few checking skills and guided them to practice again and again. Later, even when they read fast, they avoided many wrong messages and felt more confident.
When someone around us believes misinformation, only saying "You are wrong" usually doesn't work. Instead, we can explain why the message is not true and teach them the ways mentioned above. If we don't check information carefully, we may be in danger online.
Many people believe misinformation online today, lt causes lots of trouble in our daily life. So,89 . By checking where the information comes from and looking for facts, people can90. . People follow experts’ suggestions, but problems still appear. However, a study shows that 91. to solve the problems.
