At that moment, he wanted his personal caregiver, Christy Chachere, out of his life forever. He didn’t want her to tell him he could write his own term papers. Christy didn’t give way. Andrew’s outcry was like music to her ears. “Progress!” she continued to encourage him. When Andrew was diagnosed with autism (自闭症) at age eight, his mother, Cindy, was told to “get him on the list” for a caregiver to provide after-school care. However, in their city, the need for a caregiver was far higher than the supply. It was eight years before they were matched with Christy. In the beginning, Andrew’s family did their best to shelter him from life’s difficulties. “I worry about him,” Cindy said. Would he ever have a job and live independently? Cindy would do anything for her son. “You have to let him fail,” Christy told the family. “It’s the only way he’s going to learn — to be able to do things on his own.” No longer would Cindy write Andrew’s papers for him. Christy wouldn’t be helping him with homework, either. It was a little scary to step back. But everyone was on board, except Andrew. He complained (抱怨) loudly at times. But then things began to change. Christy wouldn’t do his papers for him. But she showed him how to get organized. And she coached him on how to deal with failures and difficulties, and how to break work down into small pieces so as not to feel too stressed. One step at a time, Andrew gained independence. He graduated from high school and entered community college. And he stopped trying to fire Christy. She’s been with him for six years now. This past summer, Andrew was a counselor (顾问) at a camp for kids with autism. Now, he’s studying to pass the driving test. Andrew says life has never been better. 4. Why did it take so long for Andrew’s family to match Christy? A. Andrew didn’t want to accept help. B. Andrew wasn’t on the list for a caregiver. C. His family tried to shelter him themselves. D. Caregivers were in great demand in their city. 5. How did Christy get Andrew improved? A. By finishing tasks for him. B. By planning his schedules. C. By providing instructions. D. By giving all-day care. 6. Which of the following best describes Christy according to the text? A. Considerate but overprotective. B. Confident but self-centered. C. Strict and adventurous. D. Wise and supportive. 7. Which would be the best title for the text? A Caring for autistic children in the community. B. Gaining independence with a guiding hand. C. Family’s support in the growth path. D. Challenges of living with autism. C As a child, Josh Patner became used to stepping over his mom, who would lie down in the kitchen to escape his grandmother’s nagging (唠叨). Patner’s father, also a fan of the floor, took a 20-minute rest under the piano each night after work. It’s therefore unsurprising that Patner enjoys floor time —in part to stretch (伸展) his body because he has a back pain, but also because it’s calming. Lily Bishop, a graduate student, loves lying flat on her back, silently staring at the ceiling. “I am a floor person.” she said. “Meeting just ended? Floor. Home from the gym? Floor. I find it makes me more relaxed and slows down the anxious thoughts.” What’s so great about being on the floor? Although there aren’t enough researches that explore the benefits of lying on the ground, experts say spending time on the floor can help us feel grounded. When you lie flat on your back, your gesture is open and relaxed, which may have a calming effect, said Fllen Hendriksen, a psychologist in Boston. “Your body and mood want to cling (保持一致). This is why it’s difficult to feel hopeful if you’re sitting in your chair, head hanging down.” she said. Lying on the ground might also help us avoid ruminating, or repeatedly going over the same negative (消极的) thoughts in your head, explained Alan Fogel, a professor at the University of Utah. “Typically what happens, especially in familiar places like our bed, is that our mind keeps working,” Fogel said. “We think about what happened during the day and what we should have done.” When lying on the floor, however, you may realize more what your body is feeling and focus less on your thoughts. To get comfortable, it becomes necessary to go down to the floor and soften your muscles, Fogel added. The focus on letting go makes it easier to help the body and mind reduce the pressure —to “just be,” he said. 8. Why are Patner and Bishop mentioned in the first two paragraphs? A. To stress the influence of families’ traditions. B. To tell different habits of different people. C. To introduce a special way to relax. D. To state the anxiety of the young. 9. What can we know about being on the floor? A. It has changed people’s lifestyle. B. It has led to further researches. C. It brings people peace of mind. D. It cures people of diseases. 10. What does the underlined word “ruminating” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Overthinking. B. Oversleeping. C. Misbehaving. D. Misunderstanding. 11. How does Fogel support his opinions in the last paragraph? A. By explaining rules. B. By doing experiments. C. By making comparison. D. By referring to studies. D Scientists have created a new tool that can know what you mean. It works by using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program to translate brain activity into words. Scientists say the program could help people who can’t speak because of a brain injury. To record brain activity without surgery (外科手术) , scientists used an fMRI machine, which can record the activity of the brain as it happens. To translate these recordings into words, scientists used an AI tool called GPT-l that predicts which word is most likely to come next, based on the information that came before. Scientists first trained GPT-1 on lots of stories people had told about their lives. Next, they trained GPT-1 to make connections between brain scans and spoken words. The testing was done on three human volunteers. Each person spent sixteen hours in an fMRI machine listening to stories. The machine created pictures showing which parts of their brain were active. GPT-1 then used these recordings to make connections between the ideas in the stories and the brain activity of the listeners. Then came the test. The scientists played a brand new story. GPT-1 was only given recordings of the people’s brain activity. But the words that GPT-1 predicted were very similar to the words in the story that the people were listening to. The words weren’t exactly the same, but they often carried the same meaning. For example, when a person was listening to a story about a person who didn’t have a driver’s license, the program came up with this, “She has not even started to learn to drive yet.” The scientists say that GPT-1 is the first AI program to turn what people are thinking into words without brain surgery. The system isn’t something that is available outside the lab today, mainly because of the size and cost of fMRI machines. But in the future, a similar method could help people who have lost the ability to speak because of an injury or disease. 12. Why were the volunteers asked to listen to stories for 16 hours? A. To produce brain activity. B. To awaken their curiosity. C. To predict the new stories. D. To remember the words. 13. Which of the following best describes the test result? A. Unexpected B. Successful. C. Discouraging. D. Difficult. 14. What can be learned about this AI program? A. It’ll be put on the market soon. B. It hasn’t been put to use. C. It reduces users’ financial worry. D. It’ll make patients learn to talk. 15. What’s the best title for the text? A. The fMRI Machine Is Used for Brain Surgery B. We Don’t Have to Worry About Brain Injury C. The bell’s ringing brought her out of her daydreaming. She nervously gathered her books, preparing to reach another classroom for the next new class. Lily followed the other kids and rushed into the hallway. Others walked in groups, chatted, and laughed, using the break to socialize. Lily, instead, walked alone along the wall of the hallway, with her head down. She was a shy girl, afraid to speak in front of other kids, and didn’t think others would like her. Lily finally sat in Mr. Johnson’s Language Arts class nervously. “Welcome to Language Arts,” said Mr. Johnson. He told jokes as he talked about English. Lily forgot to daydream and laughed along with the rest of the class. “We’ll have some fun with language,” he said. “Just wait and see.” Fun was far beyond what Lily desired. She just wanted to be like other kids—running with friends in the hallway, laughing and joking between classes. Reminded of her pimply (长粉刺) face, she felt hopeless and disappointed. “Take out a piece of paper,” the teacher continued, when pointing at words on the blackboard. “Write for the next thirty minutes on this topic.” Lily began writing crazily as idea after idea fought for recognition in her head. The final result was a short story about a beautiful beach house. As she wrote, she could smell the salty air, hear the crashing waves and feel the pull of the sand beneath her feet. For just a moment, she forgot where she was. She was lost in the story. “OK, pass your papers forward,” said the teacher. “Let’s see what we have.” For the rest of the class time, the teacher read each individual work aloud. Lily originally thought it would be awkward. However, she was gradually attracted by the excitement in the teacher’s voice. “He’s actually enjoying this,” she thought. When the class would be soon over, there were still fifteen students’ papers not read, including Lily’s paper. Then, Mr. Johnson announced his decision, asking these students to read their work themselves in front of the class next class. Paragraph 1: A week later, the bell rang and the Language Arts class began again. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: After Lily finished her reading, the clapping from her classmates continued for a long time. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 养正中学2025—2026学年高一上学期学科素养检测二英语试卷 考试时间:120分钟 满分:150分 命卷:蔡碧惠 翁俊卿 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1.What does the man intend to do? A. Caring for autistic children in the community. B. Gaining independence with a guiding hand. C. Family’s support in the growth path. D. Challenges of living with autism. 4. D 5. C 6. D 7. It was eight years before they were matched with Christy.(然而,在他们的城市,对护理人员的需求远远高于供应。 根据倒数第二段中“But she showed him how to get organized. And she coached him on how to deal with failures and difficulties, and how to break work down into small pieces so as not to feel too stressed.(但她教他如何组织起来。 根据第三段中“‘You have to let him fail,’ Christy told the family. ‘It’s the only way he’s going to learn — to be able to do things on his own.’(‘你必须让他失败,’Christy告诉这家人。‘这是他学习的唯一途径——能够自己做事情。’)”和倒数第二段中“But she showed him how to get organized. And she coached him on how to deal with failures and difficulties, and how to break work down into small pieces so as not to feel too stressed.(但她教他如何组织起来。 And she coached him on how to deal with failures and difficulties, and how to break work down into small pieces so as not to feel too stressed.(但她教他如何组织起来。 根据全文内容,结合最后一段中“One step at a time, Andrew gained independence. He graduated from high school and entered community college.(一步步地,Andrew获得了独立。 B。 C As a child, Josh Patner became used to stepping over his mom, who would lie down in the kitchen to escape his grandmother’s nagging (唠叨). C 9. C 10. A 11. 根据第一段“It’s therefore unsurprising that Patner enjoys floor time —in part to stretch (伸展) his body because he has a back pain, but also because it’s calming(因此,帕特纳喜欢待在地板上也就不足为奇了——部分原因是这样可以伸展他的身体,因为他有背痛,但这也能让他平静下来)”和第二段“Lily Bishop, a graduate student, loves lying flat on her back, silently staring at the ceiling. “I am a floor person.” she said. “Meeting just ended? Floor. Home from the gym? Floor. I find it makes me more relaxed and slows down the anxious thoughts.( 研究生莉莉·毕晓普喜欢平躺着,静静地盯着天花板。“我是个喜欢地板的人。”她说,“会议刚结束?躺在地板上。从健身房回家?也躺在地板上。我发现这样让我更放松,也能减缓焦虑的情绪)”可知,这两段讲述了Patner和Bishop喜欢躺在地板上放松的情况,从而引出下文对躺在地板上这种放松方式的介绍,所以提到他们两人是为了介绍一种特殊的放松方式。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Although there aren’t enough researches that explore the benefits of lying on the ground, experts say spending time on the floor can help us feel grounded(虽然没有足够的研究来探索躺在地上的好处,但专家表示,在地板上度过一段时间可以让我们感觉更踏实)”以及最后一段“The focus on letting go makes it easier to help the body and mind reduce the pressure(专注于放松身心,能更容易地帮助身体和心灵减轻压力)”可知,躺在地板上能让人内心平静,减轻压力。故选C项。 【10题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第四段“Lying on the ground might also help us avoid …, or repeatedly going over the same negative (消极的) thoughts in your head(躺在地板上也可能有助于我们避免……,或者反复思考头脑中同样的消极想法)”可知,下文提到了反复思考,可推理出划线单词的意思与ruminating“过度思考”意义相近。故选A项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“To get comfortable, it becomes necessary to go down to the floor and soften your muscles, Fogel added. The focus on letting go makes it easier to help the body and mind reduce the pressure —to “just be,” he said.(Fogel补充说,为了让自己舒服,就有必要躺到地板上放松肌肉。专注于放手会让身心更容易减压——也就是“顺其自然”,他说)”可知,Fogel通过将躺在地板上和在床上进行对比,来支持自己的观点,所以他是通过作比较来支撑自己的观点的。故选C项。 D Scientists have created a new tool that can know what you mean. For example when a person was listening to a story about a person who didn’t have a driver’s license, the program came up with this, “She has not even started to learn to drive yet.” The scientists say that GPT-1 is the first AI program to turn what people are thinking into words without brain surgery. GPT-l Lets Humans Speak from Their Heart D. Scientists Train AI to Read Human Thoughts 【答案】12. A 13. B 14. B 15. (该系统目前还无法在实验室之外使用,主要是因为fMRI机器的尺寸和成本)”可知,目前,该项目还未投入使用。故选B。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Scientists have created a new tool that can know what you mean. It works by using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program to translate brain activity into words. Scientists say the program could help people who can’t speak because of a brain injury.(科学家们发明了一种新工具,可以知道你的意思。 Everyone will grow up. Reminded of her pimply (长粉刺的) face, she felt hopeless and disappointed. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: A week later, the bell rang and the Language Arts class began again. Lily was nervous with her head down. After other students finished reading the papers one by one, finally, it was Lily’s turn. Frozen with fear, Lily stood in front of the class, with her hands holding her paper, shaking. Seeing it, Mr. Johnson told a funny joke, which made all laugh. Feeling more relaxed, Lily began reading. She was so focused that she felt she was alone. She didn’t notice that her story soon attracted all her classmates who sat up straight, without any chatting. They were lost in her fantastic story. After Lily finished her reading, the clapping from her classmates continued for a long time. Lily was shocked. When she raised her head, she found everyone staring at her excitedly. Lily finally smiled. She found everyone in the class responded to her story positively. After that class, Lily slowly lifted her head while walking. Later, she kept writing. And she began speaking in front of people and enjoyed it. A braver and more confident girl appeared. And she was grateful to Mr. Johnson who believed in every student. 词汇激活 行类 结束:finish/complete 抬起:raise/lift 注意到:notice /take notice of 情绪类 感谢的:grateful /thankful 轻松的:relaxed /relieved 【点睛】[高分句型1] Frozen with fear, Lily stood in front of the class, with her hands holding her paper, shaking.
