Here are three renowned institutions offering profound cultural insights. China National Arts and Crafts Museum (Beijing) Established in 2022, the museum stands on Beijing’s Central Axis, also called China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. Its architectural design mixes Forbidden City aesthetics with modern elements, symbolizing cultural continuity. The collection spans 11 craft categories, including jade carvings and textiles, highlighting its treasures are four imperial jade masterpieces carved from a single raw stone, such as Magnificent Scenery of Mount Tai, representing China’s craft height. Free to visit (with reservation), it’s a premier venue for understanding national-level ICH. China Yunjin Museum (Nanjing) It is dedicated to Yunjin, the "cloud brocade" once exclusive to emperors. Its star exhibit is the Plain Silk Gown—a Han Dynasty relic thinner than cicada wings, embodying ancient weaving mastery. The museum preserves traditional Jacques looms and demonstrates the complex production process, where a single piece may take years to complete. Visitors witness how this luxurious textile, named for its cloud-like beauty, has evolved while preserving cultural essence. Puzhen Bai Ethnic Tie-Dye Museum (Yunnan) It showcases tie-dye, a UNESCO-listed craft. Located in Dali, it displays both traditional and contemporary works, from indigo-dyed fabrics to innovative designs. What sets it apart is interactive experiences: visitors can try tying and dyeing fabrics themselves, engaging directly with the "zhahua" technique. The museum preserves the Bai people’s ecological dyeing methods, using natural paints and plant materials, reflecting harmony between humans and nature. These museums not only exhibit artifacts but also breathe life into endangered skills, inviting global audiences to appreciate China’s cultural legacy. 1. What can we learn about China National Arts and Crafts Museum? A. It opened to the public in 2020. B. Its architectural style is fully modern. C. Visitors need a reservation for free entry. D. Its collection only includes jade carvings. 2. What makes Puzhen Bai Ethnic Tie-Dye Museum unique? A. Emperor exclusive relics. B. Traditional cultural works. C. Textile-related techniques. D. Hands-on visitor experiences. 3. What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To teach weaving skills. B. To compare ICH museums. C. To call for ICH preservation. D. To introduce cultural artifacts. B Even in the face of fire, smoke and flood, firefighter Li Shengli doesn’t draw back. He simply says it is his job as a firefighter and his duty as a member of the Communist Party of China. Li, 51, who became a firefighter in 1991, has fought at the forefront in firefighting and rescue over the past 30 years. He has participated in over 11,000 tasks, saving about 30,000 trapped people. In one task in May 1993, a fire broke out in a mall in Nanchang. When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke and fire had blocked all the exits for people inside the building, leaving hundreds of people upstairs in danger. Facing smoke and flames, the then 21-year-old rushed to the front and climbed up the aerial ladder (云梯) to evacuate people from a height of more than 20 meters. Finally, about 270 people were rescued. “Fear is a human nature, but not retreating is a kind of responsibility. With so many people waiting to be rescued, I couldn’t be afraid, let alone withdraw,” he said. In July 2021, when several cities in Henan Province were hit by severe floods, Li joined the rescue. He and his teammates used a small boat to transfer trapped people. The boat suddenly lost power and stopped in the water. Without hesitation, Li jumped into the deep water and grabbed a rope to move them to a safe place several hundred meters away. “The people on the boat were all villagers from my hometown. I brought my teammates to my hometown to fight the flood, and of course I needed to get down into the water first to help,” he said. In September 2021, Li was transferred to the command center of Jiangxi Fire and Rescue brigade due to many physical injuries. “The platform has changed; but the heart of being a firefighter is the same. You have to get to the front line when the emergency appears, then others would trust you.” 4. Why was the aerial ladder used in the rescue of the Nanchang fire? A. All the exits of the mall were blocked. B. The mall was too high for people to get down. C. People trapped in the mall suffered from injuries. D. It was funny to carry people with the aerial ladder. 5. Which of the following can best describe Li Shengli? A. Energetic and humorous. B. honest and confident. C. Devoted and responsible. D. Curious and brave. 6. What do Li’s words in the last paragraph imply? A. He is willing to pass his belief down. B. He expects to find more favour with people. C. He has benefited a lot from his career experiences. D. He is determined to devote himself to serving people. 7. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Disasters call for more firefighters. B. Hard work pays off, career takes off. C. Firefighter braves dangers to save lives. D. Firefighter jumps into water to save teammates. C It’s a classic complaint in relationships, especially romantic ones: “She said she was okay with me forgetting her birthday! Then why is she throwing dishes in the kitchen? Are the two things related?” The answer is YES. Communication is more than words. It’s how those words are said, the tone, the order, even the choice of a particular word. It’s multi-dimensional, as explored by Deirdre Wilson and Dan Sperber in Meaning and Relevance. Consider the following example: Peter got angry and Mary left; Mary left and Peter got angry. Though identical in words, their meanings differ completely. The first one may have us thinking: Wow, Peter must get angry often if Mary leaves. The second sentence suggests that Peter wants more from Mary. Same words—a totally different context. Human language is not a code (编码). True codes have a one-to-one relationship with meaning. One sound, one definition. This is what we see with animals. Wilson and Sperber explain that “coded communication works best when emitter (发出者) and receiver share exactly the same code.” Not so for humans. We communicate more than the definitions of our words would suggest. This is inferential communication, and it means that we understand not only the words spoken, but the context in which they are spoken. Irony (反语) is a great example of how powerfully we can communicate context with a few simple words. It is more than just stating the opposite. For example, when Mary says, after a boring party, “That was fun”, she is neither saying literally that the party was fun nor saying "ironically" that the party was boring. Rather, she is expressing an emotion. Three words replace paragraphs, showcasing language’s efficiency. Wilson and Sperber concluded that human language developed and became so powerful because of two unique abilities of humans: language and the power to try to interpret mental states of others. We look for context for the words we hear. And we should be very good at absorbing this context to infer meaning. 8 What does the complaint in Paragraph 1 mainly indicate? A. The inconsistency between words and meaning. B. The importance of remembering vital moments. C. The necessity of straightforward communication. D. The unavoidable ability of argument in a couple’s life. 9. What may make human language different from true codes? A. The context included in understanding meanings. B. The definitions made by words in communication. C. The coded communication between emitter and receiver. D. The one-to-one relationship between word and meaning. 10. How does Mary’s statement “That was fun” illustrate about irony? A. It simplifies language to save time. B. It covers the true feelings of people. C. It needs wordy explanations to make sense. D. It uses fewer words for complex meanings. 11. What does the author suggest in communication? A. Focusing on the opposite. B. Taking language literally. C. Reading beyond the words. D. Avoiding using ironic tones. D Imagine waking up one morning to find your smartphone missing: You can no longer get guided to work, order your coffee, or connect with friends. For most of us, it is a nightmare (噩梦). But it should not be exactly far-fetched. Despite being more digitally connected than ever, we are lonelier and more anxious. Anxiety rates increased by 25% globally. Depression now affects over 280 million people worldwide. All of this is due to our growing dependence on social media and smart technologies designed to offer quick relief but often at the expense of deep, meaningful engagement, which may further cause our loss of something easy to be ignored. While these conveniences offer short-term relief, they may weaken our thinking skills. For example, GPS has undeniably transformed how we travel. But a 2020 study found that frequent GPS users struggle more with self-guided navigation. Over time, those who depended more on GPS showed a sharp decline in spatial memory and problem-solving skills. However, reducing dependence on these conveniences can lead to discomfort. In seeking comfort today, we might be trading away some discomfort. That is the problem: the very discomfort we avoid is often what strengthens us. Viewing stress, a kind of discomfort, as a challenge rather than a threat leads to better outcomes. Research shows that mild stress can enhance adaptability. Neuroscience (神经科学) reveals that neuroplasticity— the brain’s ability to form new connections—is enhanced through challenging experiences. This adaptability is crucial for developing resilience, (抗逆力), a process fueled by both mental challenges and active effort. But this doesn’t mean we should reject comfort entirely; it’s to balance it with intentional discomfort. Think of it as “microdosing hardship”—a series of small, manageable difficulties that keep our mental and emotional muscles strong, such as writing with a pen, or washing dishes by hand. These small acts are enough to reawaken the resilience we’ve buried under layers of ease. So, the next time you feel the pull of ease, pause. Ask yourself: Is this momentary comfort helping me grow or is it keeping me stuck? Choosing discomfort isn’t easy, but sometimes, it’s worth it. 12. What does the underlined word “far-fetched” in Paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Possible to change. B. Certain to function. C. Unlikely to be settled. D. Unable to be accepted. 13. What may digital conveniences cause according to the text? A. The fast but worthless relief. B. The meaningful engagement. C. The loss of thinking capacity. D. The lack of necessary comfort. 14. Which is a real-life application of “microdosing hardship”? A. Taking the stairs instead of the lift. B. Ordering take-out food after work. C. Exploring a new city by using GPS. D. Writing an email using voice-to-text. 15. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. GPS: the invisible cost of convenience B. Stress: the main cause of brain damage C. Discomfort: a hidden source of resilience D. Smartphones: barriers to human progress 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Whether it’s for your health, environment or your wallet, gardening has seen a boom in recent years. But when it came to performing in front of other people, I always became nervous and got discouraged frequently with my inability to play as well as I could when practicing alone. The fear of making mistakes made my hand tremble, overshadowing the joy I found in music. I worried that a single wrong note would break the connection I hoped to create with my listeners. Determined to overcome this fear, I joined my high school orchestra (管弦乐队) as a freshmen. At our first class, the conductor announced that we would have the opportunity to perform in San Antonio, and everyone was excited about the trip. A few weeks before the actual trip, one of my friends sent me a video of Joshua Bell, a well-known violinist, performing at a subway station. I was particularly fascinated by one piece that he played for the passersby. And he earned $32.17 for that piece. I was deeply moved by the emotional richness and complexity of the piece, and I felt a strong desire to express its beauty. I imagined myself performing it confidently, just like Bell. I started practicing it like crazy. However, the difficulty of the piece and the constant repetitions and adjustments wore me out to the point where I almost considered just giving up. But it was a worthy challenge and I thought I could master it, with my unique style. Several weeks later, our orchestra group were staying at a hotel in San Antonio. As we were hanging out, we found a beautiful courtyard just in front of the hotel. The friend who sent me the video and I were talking about how Joshua Bell’s performance at the subway station went viral on the social media. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Suddenly, he suggested that I play for the hotel customers in the courtyard. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I tried not to mind the mistakes halfway through the performance as before. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:1-5 BCACB 6-10BBCAC 11-15ACCAB 16-20AABCB 2025-2026学年高三上学期第二次质量检测 英语试题 (本试题满分150分。考试用时120分钟。) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。听完每段对话后,你都有10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读一遍。 例: How much is the shirt? Among the three logos, I am particularly fond of the first one. The logo features an open book with a globe inside, vividly conveying the idea that English literature can open a window to the world. It suggests that through reading English literary works, we can explore different cultures and gain a broader perspective. Moreover, the words “Open a book, open a world” below the image perfectly express its concept. This logo is not only simple and eye-catching but also closely related to the essence of English literature reading. I believe it would be an excellent choice for our reading room. Your sincerely, Li Hua 第二节(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】One possible version: Suddenly, he suggested that I play for the hotel customers in the courtyard. At first, I was hesitant. The fear of making mistakes and embarrassing myself in front of others welled up inside me. I was afraid of not being able to express it beauty. But then I thought of Joshua Bell’s performance in the subway station. He played with such passion and dedication regardless of the setting. Determined to overcome this fear, I took a deep breath, nodded, and got my violin ready. Without any hesitation this time, I walked to the center of the courtyard, and as I started to play, all eyes turned towards me curiously. I tried not to mind the mistakes halfway through the performance as before. Instead, I focused on the music itself, on expressing the beauty and emotion that I had felt when I first listened to the piece. I remembered the countless hours of practice, the determination to master this challenge. Gradually, I lost myself in the music. When I finished, there was a moment of silence, and then warm applause filled the courtyard. I looked around, seeing smiles on the faces of the hotel customers. A sense of accomplishment washed over me. I had finally overcome my fear and connected with the audience through the music. 听力:1-5 BCACB 6-10BBCAC 11-15ACCAB 16-20AABCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
