A
Poem A:
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew the sight
Could not follow it in its flight
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth I knew not where;
For who has the sight so keen and strong,
That can follow the flight of a song?
Long, long afterwards, in an oak,
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
Poem B:
I love three things in this world,
The sun, the moon and you.
The sun for the day, the moon for the night, and you forever.
For the world you are somebody,
But for somebody you are the world.
I dropped a tear in the ocean
And the day you find it is the day I will stop loving you!
People laugh and people cry,
Some say hi while some bye,
Some give up and some always try,
Others may forget you but never will I.
Poem C (excerpt):
Two roads diverged (岔开) in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should even come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Poem D:
I don’t know what your dream is
I don’t care how disappointing it might have been,
As you’ve been working toward that dream.
Some of you already know that is hard.
It’s not easy.
In the process of working on your dreams,
You’re going to face a lot of disappointment, a lot of failure, a lot of pain.
For those of you who have never experienced hardships,
Don’t give up on your dream.
There are right times on the way to have come.
But they have not come to be seen, they have come to be past.
21. What does “a tear in the ocean” in Poem B imply?
A. I feel sad for your love. B. You mean everything to me.
C. I won’t stop loving you all my life. D. My love for you is as wide as the ocean.
22. Which poem is a suitable choice to encourage a frustrated friend?
A. Poem A. B. Poem B. C. Poem C. D. Poem D.
23. Which of the following themes is absent from the four poems?
A. Friendship. B. Freedom. C. Choices. D. Perseverance.
B
By my mid-20s, I’d finished my master in psychology, and I was working in Dublin as a health researcher. It was mostly data and statistics work staring at a screen. I was earning more than most of my friends, living the city life, going out at weekends. I had a good pension (养老金) and annual leave but it caused a lot of anxiety and worry.I was really unhappy.
I wanted to get back to feeling passionate about something so I started thinking about the things I used to love. As a child, I’d always been involved in the outdoors, and I used to love hiking but all that had stopped after secondary school. I decided to volunteer with a local youth group and within a month, I’d gone camping with them. I absolutely loved it. It was like switching on a lightbulb. This was what I’d been missing.
I started taking courses in mountain skills and wilderness first aid, and by August I was working my usual job in the week, and I was a climbing club leader at weekends. I loved connecting with nature, connecting with other people.
Through all this, I learnt about the whole field of nature-based therapies (疗法). It was the perfect fit to combine my psychology background with my passion for the outdoors. I began taking courses in wild therapy, forest bathing and ecopsychology. I left my government job and in July 2020 I launched my business Nature Therapy Ireland, which is booming now.
I’d thought I’d always live in a city but last year, I moved to Tipperary to live at the foot of a mountain, surrounded by nature. If I’m feeling stressed, I can step outside in my bare feet and stand on the grass to ground myself. In Dublin, the front door felt like a barrier—I had to have my keys, my phone, my jacket before I could even go out and find a green space. My life now is leading nature connection hikes and forest bathing walks. My salary has halved for the moment but I’ve adjusted. I’ve never looked back.

26. What drove the writer to launch her business Nature Therapy Ireland?
A. Her adventurous experience.
B. Her leadership and background.
C. Her connection with other people.
D. Her major and passion for nature.
27. Why did the writer compare her life in Dublin with that in Tipperary?
A. To highlight how boring city life was.
B. To call on people to get back to nature.
C. To show her satisfaction with her change.
D. To indicate how successful her business was.
C
Chinese society, basically agricultural, has always laid great stress on understanding the pattern of nature and living in harmony with it. The world of nature was seen as the visible expression of the workings of a higher power through the interaction of the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang. As Chinese art developed, its purpose turned to the expression of human understanding of these forces, in the form of painting of landscapes, bamboo, birds, and flowers.
Particularly in early times, art also had social and moral functions. The earliest wall paintings referred to in ancient texts often described merciful emperors, officials, and their evil opposites as examples and warnings to the living. Human relationships have always been of great importance in China, and a common theme of figure painting is that of gentlemen enjoying staying together or of the depressing partings and infrequent reunions. Among the typical themes of traditional Chinese art, there is no place for war, violence or death. No theme would be accepted in traditional Chinese art that was not inspiring, noble, or refreshing to the spirit.
In the broadest sense, therefore, all traditional Chinese art is symbolic, for everything that is painted reflects some aspect of what the painter is aware of. Bamboo suggests the spirit of the person, which can be bent by circumstance but never broken. The dragon is the wholly kind-hearted symbol of the emperor; the crane (鹤) symbolizes long life; and paired mandarin ducks symbolize wedded loyalty. Popular among the many symbols drawn from the plant world are the orchid (兰花), a symbol of purity; the plum blossom (梅花), which comes out even in the snow and stands for uncontrollable purity, in either a revolutionary political or a spiritual sense; and the pine tree, which may represent either survival in a fierce political environment or the unconquerable spirit of old age.
28. What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The art. B. The painting.
C. The theme. D. The relationship.
29. Which of the following best describes the typical themes of traditional Chinese art?
A. Violent and alarming. B. Material and instructive.
C. True-to-life and educative. D. Positive and inspiring.
30. How does the author introduce traditional Chinese art in the last paragraph?
A. By giving examples. B. By making comparisons.
C. By analyzing causes. D. By following time order.
31. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. The Role of Traditional Chinese Art
B. Agriculture and Traditional Chinese Art
C. Significance and Value of Traditional Chinese Art
D Characteristic Themes and Symbols of Traditional Chinese Art

Nothing is more American than blue jeans. The blue denim pants(牛仔裤) were invented in 1871 and were initially made for miners and cowboys but became a popular fashion among youth in the 1950s and 1960s. Denim soon became accepted by most people, making jean pants, jackets, skirts, and more a big part of western culture.
Now, Wrangler which has been making jeans since 1947, is greening the industry by dyeing denim with indigo—the deep blue color used for jeans-foam(泡沫), instead of the traditional way of using vats of Indigo liquid dye.
While indigo is a natural compound and has been used to dye cloth for centuries, most of the indigo dyes used today are manmade, and dyeing thread for the production of blue jeans is very wasteful. The thread has to be pulled through multiple dye boxes filled with around 2,000 liters of liquid dye and water, and the process has to be repeated several times for the dye to hold according to Fast Company.
The new eco-friendly foam dyeing method was developed at Texas Tech and uses over 99 percent less water than the traditional method. In 2017, Wrangler, the Walmart Foundation, and Lee, another blue jeans brand• invested in new technology to make the industry more sustainable.
In the new “Indigo good” methods the process saves more than just water; it is expected to use 60 percent less energy and produces 60 percent less waste.
“While we have been able to reduce 3 billion liters of water in product finishing during the past 10 years, we know that more needs to be done across the entire supply chain.” Wrangler president Tom Waldron told Fashion Network. “Foam technology reduces water consumption and pollution further upstream.”
32. Whom were blue jeans first aimed at?
A. Miners. B. Youth. C. The old. D. The majority.
33. What may be the difference between indigo used now and centuries ago?
A. Source of raw materials. B. Amount of usages. C. Pollution levels. D. Process of dyeing.
34. What's the advantage of the new foam dyeing method?
A. Saving time. B. Reducing water's waste.
C. Attracting employees. D. Causing no pollution.
35 What can we know according to Tom Waldron?
A. He requires cooperation with suppliers. B. He is satisfied with the entire supply chain.
C. He appeals to further reducing pollution. D. His company is bringing in more profits.

The darkness was gathering as she wobbled (颤颤巍巍) in high heels along the side of the highway. The car had come to an unexpected stop, and like a teenager she did the only thing she could think of-get out and walk.
It was cold and late, and home was far away. This could be a long night. If only someone would stop and offer her a ride. She prayed for help and dragged herself forward.
The lights of a truck shone from behind as it approached. “Maybe he will stop,” she hoped. The brake lights flashed on as it stopped. Next instant, the cab door opened. A wordless invitation was extended and she understood. Without hesitation the girl climbed up into the cab and closed the door. Slowly the truck pulled back onto the road and disappeared into the night, never to be seen again.
I woke up in a cold sweat, alarmed. Was that a dream or was it a vision? It was unbelievably real, and the girl was my daughter! I jumped from my bed and ran to her room. Her bed was empty.
I stood in horror trying to think why she had not come home. As the mental fog began to lift, I remembered she was visiting her friend that evening. Perhaps she stayed there for the night. It was 1:30 a.m., but I raced to the phone and dialed a number.
“Hello?” The voice was heavy with sleep.
“Hey. Sorry to wake you. Becki didn’t come home tonight and I was wondering if she stayed at your place.”
“No, she left here a few hours ago. She should have been home at least by midnight!” The voice on the other end began to reflect my own panic.
Over the next forty-five minutes I alternated between lying in pray and pacing the floor in anxiety.
At 2:15 a.m. lights appeared as a car turned up on our long driveway. I could tell immediately that it was not my daughter’s car.

I have been trying to speak to the hotel owner for a couple of days now with no success. I have to say this is truly disappointing for a five star hotel, especially with the amount of money we spent during our stay with you. My family and I stayed at the hotel sand delier from may twenty fifth to twenty seventh, and the whole experience was just absolutely awful. None of your weighers could speak russian, even though I have an email from you assuring us that there would be a minimum of two russian speaking staff on every shift. You had noisy kids, activities and competitions by the pool. Non storm. He made IT really difficult to relax when expressing our concerns to the manager, mister Lewis. That only was he unable to provide us with the space where we could relax and read our books. But he also told us that smoking was not allowed in the hotel, although again, we checked this before our stay and you told us that smoking outdoors was permitted. Please get back to me as soon as possible, or I will take these matters to my legal team. Hello, my name is soka love.
A
Poem A:
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth I knew not where;
For who has the sight so keen and strong,
That can follow the flight of a song?
Long, long afterwards, in an oak,
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
Poem B:
I love three things in this world,
The sun, the moon and you.
The sun for the day, the moon for the night, and you forever.
For the world you are somebody,
But for somebody you are the world.
I dropped a tear in the ocean
And the day you find it is the day I will stop loving you!
People laugh and people cry,
Some say hi while some bye,
Some give up and some always try,
Others may forget you but never will I.
Poem C (excerpt):
Two roads diverged (岔开) in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should even come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Poem D:
I don’t know what your dream is.

24. What did the writer think of her job in Dublin?

B. She realized what she really loved.
C. Recalling the past made her happy.
D. A bright future was in store for her.
A 25. B 26. D 27. C
根据第一段中的“I had a good pension (养老金) and annual leave but it caused a lot of anxiety and worry. I was really unhappy.(我有一个很好的养老金和年假,但它引起了很多焦虑和担忧。我真的很不开心)”可知,作者虽然工作待遇不错,但是感到焦虑和担心,觉得不开心。由此推知,作者觉得Dublin的工作压力很大。故选A项。
根据第二段划线句子前的“I decided to volunteer with a local youth group and within a month, I’d gone camping with them.
根据倒数第二段中的“It was the perfect fit to combine my psychology background with my passion for the outdoors. I began taking courses in wild therapy, forest bathing and ecopsychology.(将我的心理学背景与我对户外活动的热情相结合是完美的选择。我开始参加野外疗法、森林浴和生态心理学课程)”可知,作者将他的心理学专业和自己对户外运动的热爱结合起来,并创办了Nature Therapy Ireland。故选D项。
【27题详解】

My life now is leading nature connection hikes and forest bathing walks. My salary has halved for the moment but I’ve adjusted.
D. Characteristic Themes and Symbols of Traditional Chinese Art
C 29. D 30. A 31. D
根据划线词前半句“Human relationships have always been of great importance in China, and a common theme of figure painting(人际关系在中国一直是非常重要的,人物画的一个共同主题)”可知,人物画的一个共同主题是士大夫喜欢呆在一起,或者是令人沮丧的离别和难得的团聚。
根据文章最后一段“No theme would be accepted in traditional Chinese art that was not inspiring, noble, or refreshing to the spirit. (在中国传统艺术中,没有一种主题不令人振奋,不高贵,不令人精神振奋。)”可知,积极和鼓舞人心是中国传统艺术的典型主题。故选D。
【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Bamboo suggests the spirit of the person, which can be bent by circumstance but never broken. 故A。
根据文章最后一段“In the broadest sense, therefore, all traditional Chinese art is symbolic, for everything that is painted reflects some aspect of what the painter is aware of.(因此,从最广泛的意义上说,所有的中国传统艺术都是象征性的,因为所画的一切都反映了画家所知的某些方面。)”
D

上文“It is natural for us to start drawing a conclusion in most situations before we fully understand what is going on. We tend to judge people critically. (在大多数情况下,我们尚未完全了解情况就开始下结论,这是很自然的。我们倾向于对他人进行苛刻的评判。)”描述了人们草率评判的自然倾向。D选项“And then we discover that we are wrong in our judgments. (然后我们发现自己的判断是错误的。)”顺承上文,指出了这种评判倾向可能导致的结果——判断失误,从而引出下文“如何避免这种尴尬局面”。该句是连接问题与解决方案之间的关键过渡。故选D项。
【37题详解】
下文“The best gift you can offer someone is a few minutes of your time before offering your opinion about someone. You might be surprised by just how much you really don’t know about that person until his stories are told. (在你对某人发表意见之前,你能给他的最好礼物是花几分钟时间倾听。直到听了他的故事,你可能会惊讶地发现你对他其实多么不了解。)”的核心在于强调在评判前“花时间”和“听故事”的重要性。A选项“Take time to listen. (花时间去倾听。)”准确地概括了下文的核心建议,且“Take time to”与下文“a few minutes of your time”相呼应。 故选A项。
上文“Don’t take things too personal. (不要把每件事都太个人化。)”给出了避免草率评判的一个心态建议。G选项“Keep an open mind and try to make sense of whatever you see or hear. (保持开放的心态,并试着理解你所看到或听到的一切。)”承接上文,进一步给出了更具体的行动指导:以开放的心态去努力理解事物。这与上文“不要太个人化”的精神一致,并引出了下文“Get to know why people act the way they do (去了解人们为何在特定情境下那样行事)”的具体目标。
下文“The first thing we usually notice about someone is their bad qualities. Sometimes we will let these bad qualities cloud our sight so that we may mistakenly judge them. Try to look at things from a different perspective. Regardless of how terrible someone is, there is always something good inside him. (我们通常首先注意到一个人的缺点。有时我们会让这些缺点蒙蔽我们的双眼,以至于可能错误地评判他们。试着从不同的角度看问题。无论一个人有多糟糕,他的内心总有一些好的东西。)”阐述了人们容易聚焦缺点,但建议换个视角、努力发现每个人内在的优点。B选项“Try to see the good in people. (努力看到他人的优点。)”完美地概括了下文的核心观点,可以作为本段的小标题。故选B项。
【40题详解】
前文介绍了三个避免草率评判的方法(倾听、理解、发现优点)。下文“Besides, you’ll see the world in a different light and people will trust you and respect you for being someone who has an honest opinion. (此外,你将以不同的眼光看待世界,人们会因为你是一个有公正见解的人而信任你、尊重你。)”描述了遵循这些建议所带来的额外好处。E选项“By following the steps above, you can avoid being too judgmental. (通过遵循以上步骤,你可以避免过于武断地评判他人。)”承接上文,总结应用前文建议的直接效果——避免武断评判。该句总结了三个建议的共同目的,并自然引出了下文的积极影响。故选E项。

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My face pressed against the window and I found it hard to breathe. The car pulled in front of the house, and out of it emerged my precious daughter, making her way up the steps. Tears stinging my eyes, I threw open the door, pulled her inside and hugged her tightly. The dream was just too real and I could hardly believe I was now having my daughter in my hug. I wondered if it was because my prayer was answered. Then through my blurred vision I saw a lady stepping out of the car.
“Mom, she gave me a ride home,” Becki said. “My car broke down on the highway and without her help, I would never have made it home in my high heels,” she continued, exposing her blistered ankles. My heart shuddered at the thought of how painfully Becki staggered along the dark highway. She must be an angel for Becki! I approached the lady and invited her inside. Now, I was definitely grateful to her for extending a helping hand.
