From relations to work stress, more Chinese people are now using AI tools like DeepSeek to deal with their problems. They share feelings with the chatting robot and get warm advice. This is called “AI therapy”, and it is becoming popular online. But can robots really take the place of human doctors?
A study shows that 45 percent of people around the world needed mental (心理上的) health care, but they did not get it since it was too expensive or there weren’t enough doctors. Daniel Lowd, a teacher at the University of Oregon, believes AI could do some help. “If people can find some support and ideas by talking to ChatGPT or other chatting robots, that’s wonderful.” Lowd told Newsweek. Li Yong, a doctor at the Jiangsu Province Hospital, agreed with Lowd, saying that AI meets people’s comfort needs to a point.
However, AI has its weaknesses (弱点). Human doctors understand feelings deeply through face-to-face talks and create different treating plans to different people but robots can’t. ▲ AI doctors have no right training or know human rules. Depending too much on them seems unsafe. Some people believe the key to safe AI doctors is strict government control. For example, Wysa, an AI mental health app, follows strict medical rules in the UK.
As AI becomes part of daily life, finding a balance (平衡) between its good and bad sides is important. While AI offers quick help, for serious mental needs, the communication between people can’t be taken place by anything else.

D. Because they didn’t think it was necessary to ask for help.

Have you ever wondered why so many apps are free to use? After all, they cost money to run. Well, instead of paying with money, you’re paying by sharing your personal data (数据). Then businesses buy and use the data so that they can show you targeted ads (定向广告).
What happens to personal information online?
Many free apps get paid by businesses that want to know about the users of the apps. What a business wants is the exact information about customers. Companies called “data brokers” collect your data—everything from your name, location and education level to the topics you search for, the websites you visit and the people you follow, and then sell it to other brokers and businesses.
__________
The data is valuable. Businesses can use the information from data brokers to target their ads. It means they will show their ads to the people who are most likely to be interested in their products or services.
What can we do about it?
Many countries have made laws to protect personal information. For example, a law in the United States says companies must get parents’ permission to collect personal data from kids under 13. China’s law on personal information protection came into effect on November 1, 2021. At the same time, we should try to protect our data. If an app asks for something like your location, consider saying “No” first. In short, information about you is very valuable. Try to protect it.

Teens Around the World
Subject: Rules around us
Hi, guys! As an old saying goes, nothing can be done without norms or standards. No matter where we go, rules are always there to guide our behaviour. Are there any bad behaviours around you? Please share a story with us. How did you stand up to the bad behaviour? How did you feel after that?
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
例文:
Hi everyone! I’m Li Hua. Last week, I saw some classmates littering crumpled paper in the school library and chatting loudly, which disturbed others. I walked over and gently reminded them, “The library is our shared quiet space—let’s keep it clean and peaceful.” They felt embarrassed and picked up the trash right away, lowering their voices. After that, I felt proud and relieved. Rules aren’t just words; they need everyone to follow them and remind each other.
16. What is “Al therapy”?
A. Making friends with AI doctors.
B. Using Al tools in our daily lives.
C. Treating illnesses with the help of Al.
D. Looking for comfort from a chatting robot.

B. Because they didn’t have enough money to see doctors.
C. Because they couldn’t find any support or ideas from AI.
D. Because they didn’t think it was necessary to ask for help.
18. Which of the following can be put in “ ▲ ” in paragraph 3?
A. Another problem is safety.
B. AI can’t build real relations.
C. The best way is to forget about it.
D. People can’t receive advice from AI.
19. What can you learn from the passage?
A. AI doctors will take the place of human doctors in the future.

21. According to the passage, how can people use some apps for free?
A. By sharing their personal data. B. By buying and using the data.
C. By showing the targeted ads. D. By talking with friends.
22. According to the passage, which picture can describe how businesses show their targeted ads?
A. B. C. D.
23. According to the passage, why do “data brokers” collect personal information?
A. To use the apps for free. B. To sell the information to businesses.
C. To protect users’ personal data. D. To make new laws about privacy.
24. Which of the following can be put in the “________”?
A What are people interested in?
B. Why do businesses show their ads?
C. Why do businesses want the data?
D. What are the new products?
25. Who’s the passage written for?
A. Businessmen. B. App users. C. Lawyers. D. Data brokers.
