After walking about 10 kilometres by the mountain, and just as he was about to give up, the Frenchman saw a beautiful place—Tunxi. He fell in love with the beautiful nature there.
Lecomte lived in Tunxi for three months. The place is best known for its centuries-old street.
“I didn’t want to leave here anymore,” Lecomte recalled. Finally, his trip to China turned into a long stay.
He often hikes or rides a motorcycle (摩托车) with his friends, escaping (逃离) from the busy cities to find hidden scenery (隐秘的风景) around Huangshan Mountain. They also seek out riverside fields (河畔的田野), ancient villages, and secluded (隐蔽的) forests again and again.
Lecomte likes taking photos wherever he goes. Up till now he has taken more than 118,000 photos in China. Now, he shares these photos on Chinese social media (社交媒体). If a friend helps you, it’s a good idea to write a thank-you note to him or her. But in fact, how many of us sit down to do this? “People don’t seem to give thanks to people quite often,” Professor Kumar said. Why don’t people like to send thank-you notes? And how do people feel when they get one?
Kumar and his team asked some students to write a thank-you note to another person by e-mail. Then, they asked both the writer and the receiver how sending or getting these notes made them feel. Here is the result.
They found that these writers didn’t like to write the notes because they felt like they had to think too much about them. They worried about what to say and how to say it. The receivers, however, felt glad when they got the notes. “When you are a receiver, you really care about the warmth of the notes,” Kumar said.
Also, the writers didn’t like to write the notes because they thought it might be awkward (尴尬的) for the receiver to get a thank-you note. But in fact, it’s not true. “They feel quite happy,” Kumar said. “They don’t really feel awkward at all. If people know that writing a thank-you note could be so important to others, they will do it more often.”

Yang Liu is an inheritor (传承人) of bamboo drifting (独竹漂), which is a form of intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产). She started to learn it from her grandmother when she was 7. As she was weak in health as a child, her grandmother wanted her to get into better shape through this sport. Yang threw herself into practicing bamboo drifting all year round, even in the winter cold and summer heat.
“It was common for me to fall into the water when I started practicing,” recalled Yang, adding that it took her three years to learn the basic skills of bamboo drifting.
In order to acquire more bamboo drifting skills, Yang had to practice countless difficult movements on a bamboo pole (竹竿) that was 9m in length and 15 cm in diameter (直径), and stand all the physical pain that came with it. Through years of hard training, Yang now considers the bamboo pole as her “best friend”.
At one point, inspired by her grandmother, Yang began to combine dance with bamboo drifting. “My grandmother came up with an idea. She said that I had been practicing bamboo drifting since I was a child, so why not try to combine dance with the skill? It might be something different,” the young woman explained.
Yang’s hard work gradually paid off when she was able to perfectly perform dancing with the traditional bamboo drifting skill. “I hope that more people can know about bamboo drifting and enjoy this form of art,” said Yang.
61.Why did Yang’s grandmother let her learn bamboo drifting?
A.Because it could help Yang build herself up.
B.Because Yang was very talented at it.
C.Because it was the traditional skill of Yang’s family.
D.Because Yang wanted to know about the intangible cultural heritage.
62.What does the underlined word “acquire” mean in Chinese?
A.出售 B.收集 C.掌握 D.拒绝
63.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Yang is a little tired of bamboo drifting now.
B.Yang hopes more people can know about bamboo drifting.
C.Yang used to stop practicing because it was too cold in winter.
D.Yang spent 3 months learning the basic skills of bamboo drifting.
64.Which word best describes Yang’s grandmother?
A.Hard-working. B.Helpful. C.Kind-hearted. D.Creative.
65.Which part of a newspaper might this passage come from?
A.Travel. B.Education. C.Culture. D.Science.
【答案】61.A 62.C 63.B 64.D 65.C

61.细节理解题。根据“As she was weak in health as a child, her grandmother wanted her to get into better shape through this sport.”可知,杨柳的祖母让她学习独竹漂是为了增强她的体质。故选A。
62.词句猜测题。根据“In order to acquire more bamboo drifting skills, Yang had to practice countless difficult movements...”结合上下文,通过刻苦训练目的是“掌握”更多技巧,因此“acquire”意为“掌握”。故选C。
63.细节理解题。根据“I hope that more people can know about bamboo drifting and enjoy this form of art”可知,杨柳希望更多人了解独竹漂。故选B。

I get up early every day. When the alarm clock goes off, I jump from the bed to the floor. 69 I hardly get sick even if I work a whole day.
70 Without it, the health of our minds is just like a castle in the air. Only with a healthy and strong body can we live a vigorous life. And I will keep on taking exercise to have a longer and better life.
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳答案,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A.To keep ourselves healthy, exercise is the best way.
B.The beauty of nature will keep us clear-headed.

As she was weak in health as a child, her grandmother wanted her to get into better shape through this sport.
