(一)根据并列关系确定答案 掌握特点 前后两句是逻辑上的并列关系 技巧运用 寻找表示并列关系的词,如:and, or, first(ly), second(ly) ...; first, then/next ...; in the first place, in the second place ...; for one thing, for another ...; to begin with, to conclude等标志性词语 (二)根据递进关系确定答案 掌握特点 后面的句子是对前面内容的进一步解释说明,即后句与前句构成顺承关系 技巧运用 空格前后两句之间如果是逻辑上的顺承关系,则空格处很有可能是个表示递进的句子 寻找标志词 also; further; furthermore; likewise; similarly; moreover; in addition; what's more; too; either; neither; in particular; not only ... but also ...等 (三)根据转折关系确定答案 掌握特点 文中后句与前句构成逆转关系 技巧运用 空格前后两句之间如果是逻辑上的逆转关系,则空格处很有可能是个表示转折关系的句子 寻找标志词 but; however/whereas; nevertheless; still; though; yet; in spite of; on the contrary; in contrast; by contrast; by comparison; otherwise; not ... but ... Passage 1 Take Regular Breaks to Boost Focus When was the last time you stepped away from your computer? For many, it’s been too long. 1 A study from the University of Illinois offers a clear solution: regular breaks. It confirms that taking time to step back vastly improves focus, whether you’re deep in work tasks or immersed in a gaming session. The problem is that most people simply cannot remember to take a break, so intentional planning is key to making this habit stick. 2 Don’t rely on memory — add breaks to your calendar app and turn on notifications to avoid missing them. Treat these breaks with the same seriousness as a work meeting. If calendars don’t work for you, set repeating alarms on your phone. To make it even easier, build breaks into a consistent routine: for example, a short walk every day at 10 am or making a cup of tea each afternoon at 2 pm. 3 The Pomodoro Technique is another popular and effective approach. Its name comes from the tomato-shaped kitchen timer used by creator Francesco Cirillo when he first developed the method. 4 You pick a specific task, set a timer for 25 minutes, and work intensely during that period. When the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break. After completing four such work-and-break cycles, take a longer break — usually around 30 minutes — before starting again. For those who find it hard to stop working even when they know they should, break reminder apps available on the market are great choices. 5 What makes them effective is that they pop up over whatever you’re doing, forcing you to pause. Each break also comes with a helpful suggestion, like turning your head toward natural light or doing simple stretches. A.Most of them are free and reliable. B.The following steps outline how it works. C.This could be slowing down your efficiency. D.That means you don’t have to stay focused all the time. E.The factors explain why it can improve your concentration. F.These small moments help turn breaks into an automatic habit. G.Scheduling breaks into your daily routine is an effective method. 1.根据上文“For many, it’s been too long.(对很多人来说,已经太久没离开电脑了)”及下文“A study from the University of Illinois offers a clear solution: regular breaks.(伊利诺伊大学的一项研究提供了明确的解决方案:规律休息)”可知,空格处需说明“长期不休息”的负面影响,为下文“规律休息”的建议提供必要性支撑。C选项“This could be slowing down your efficiency.(这可能会降低你的效率)”中“This”指代上文“长期不离开电脑、不休息”的行为,“slowing down your efficiency”点明其危害,既承接了前文的现状描述,又自然引出下文的解决方案,逻辑连贯。故选C项。 2.根据下文“Don’t rely on memory — add breaks to your calendar app and turn on notifications to avoid missing them. Treat these breaks with the same seriousness as a work meeting. If calendars don’t work for you, set repeating alarms on your phone.(别依赖记性 —— 把休息时间添加到日历应用中,打开通知功能避免错过。 G选项“Scheduling breaks into your daily routine is an effective method.(将休息安排到日常日程中是一种有效的方法)”中“Scheduling breaks into your daily routine”直接点明本段主题,“effective method”总领下文的具体规划方式(日历、闹钟、固定流程),起到提纲挈领的作用。故选G项。 3.根据上文“To make it even easier, build breaks into a consistent routine: for example, a short walk every day at 10 am or making a cup of tea each afternoon at 2 pm.(为了更简单,将休息纳入固定流程:例如,每天上午10点短途散步,或下午2点泡杯茶)”可知,空格处需说明“固定流程式休息”的效果——让休息成为习惯。F选项“These small moments help turn breaks into an automatic habit.(这些微小的时刻有助于将休息变成一种自动习惯)”中“These small moments”指代上文“短途散步、泡杯茶”等具体休息方式,“turn breaks into an automatic habit”呼应本段主题“将休息纳入日常”,说明其最终效果,符合逻辑递进关系。故选F项。 4.根据上文“The Pomodoro Technique is another popular and effective approach. Its name comes from the tomato-shaped kitchen timer used by creator Francesco Cirillo when he first developed the method.(番茄工作法是另一种广受欢迎且高效的方法。其名称来源于创始人弗朗切斯科·西里洛(Francesco Cirillo)最初研发该方法时使用的番茄形状厨房计时器)”及下文“You pick a specific task, set a timer for 25 minutes, and work intensely during that period. When the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break. After completing four such work-and-break cycles, take a longer break — usually around 30 minutes — before starting again.(你选择一项具体任务,设置 25 分钟计时器,在这段时间内专注高效工作。 B选项“The following steps outline how it works.(以下步骤将概述其工作原理)”中“how it works”指代番茄工作法的操作逻辑,“The following steps”直接引出下文的具体流程,起到承上启下的过渡作用。故选B项。 5.根据上文“For those who find it hard to stop working even when they know they should, break reminder apps available on the market are great choices.(对于那些即便知道该休息,却难以停下工作的人来说,市面上的休息提醒类应用是绝佳选择)”及下文“What makes them effective is that they pop up over whatever you’re doing, forcing you to pause. Each break also comes with a helpful suggestion, like turning your head toward natural light or doing simple stretches.(这类应用之所以有效,是因为它们会在你正在做任何事时突然弹出,迫使你暂停。 A选项“Most of them are free and reliable.(它们大多免费且可靠)”中“Most of them”指代上文“break reminder apps”,“free and reliable”补充了应用的核心优势,既承接了“不错的选择”的评价,又为下文“有效原因”的阐述做铺垫,逻辑连贯。故选A项。 Passage 2 Ready to see the world and experience the excitement of adventuring out on your own, but how do you do that when you’re a teenager? Good news — it’s definitely possible! But there are big challenges and risks. So I’ve put together some useful tips for starting your dream solo trip. Take a self-protection class. 6 A short personal security course is a key investment for teen solo travelers. Since you look young, you are more likely to be targeted for theft or robbery. Luckily, a good course can teach self-protection skills and prevention tips, helping you to stay safe and enjoy your trip with them. 7 Travelers of all ages are cheated every year. But the common ones fit a few types, like sellers forcing you to buy things you just touched, or people pretending to be tourists asking you for cash. Once you know the typical kinds, it becomes easier to recognize their bad plans early enough to avoid troubles. Familiarize yourself with the local laws before you travel. Different places have different rules. 8 I once got a fine of 300 dollars for drinking orange juice on a bus in Singapore. Respecting local rules is necessary for you to stay away from unnecessary problems during your trip. Buy travel insurance. For a teenager, this safety net is really helpful. Based on your insurance level, you can get some money back for missed flights, lost luggage and accidental medical costs. 9 The solo travel you dream of as a teenager won’t be smooth sailing. 10 Follow my suggestions and get well prepared. You’ll minimize the risks and create fantastic memories. Safe travels! A.Learn to avoid travel tricks. B.Pick up essential safety skills. C.Be careful when offering help. D.Breaking them may bring fines or trouble. E.You’ll hit roadblocks, and you’ll feel discouraged at times. F.Chat with people who have been there already to identify “no-go” zones. G.With unexpected problems covered, you’ll feel more relaxed during your trip. 及下文“A short personal security course is a key investment for teen solo travelers. Saving money is one of the best ways to do this. Even if bills, loans, and daily expenses seem high, starting to save is still possible. 11 With the right steps, anyone can start building a financial backup and improve their well-being. Buy smart You can save money by being careful with what you buy. 12 . And buying items in bigger packs, like toothpaste, toilet paper, or canned food, can lower the cost per item and reduce trips to the store. Simple changes in shopping habits can slowly add up to big savings over time. 13 A clear budget helps you manage your money better. The 50-30-20 rule is easy to follow: spend 50% of your income on essentials like rent, utilities, and groceries; 30% on personal things like hobbies, haircuts, or small treats; and 20% goes into savings. Using this method, you can build your emergency fund and save for bigger goals, like buying a home or a car, without feeling stressed. Use apps and challenges Apps can make saving easier and more fun. Cashback apps give money back on purchases, and budgeting apps help you see where your money goes. You can also try a savings challenge: save $1 in the first week, $2 in the second week, and keep increasing each week. By the end of the year, these small steps can grow into over $1,000. 14 . Wait and review Avoid buying things on impulse. If you see something you want, wait a day or two before buying. 15 . Also, review things like insurance regularly to find cheaper options that still cover your needs. Simple habits like these can make saving easier and improve your financial security over time. A.Plan your money B.Save for emergencies C.You don’t need a lot of money to begin D.Saving helps you reach your financial goals E.Look for discounts or sales whenever you can F.Gradually, you form your regular saving habits G.You might change your mind or find a better deal 【答案】11.C 12.E 13.A 14.F 15.G 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 11.根据上文“Even if bills, loans, and daily expenses seem high, starting to save is still possible.(即使账单、贷款和日常开支看起来很高,开始储蓄仍然是可能的。)” 12.根据上文“You can save money by being careful with what you buy.(你可以通过谨慎购买来省钱。)” 13.根据下文“A clear budget helps you manage your money better.(一个清晰的预算可以帮助你更好地管理你的钱。)” 故选A项。 14.根据上文“You can also try a savings challenge: save $1 in the first week, $2 in the second week, and keep increasing each week. By the end of the year, these small steps can grow into over $1,000.(你也可以尝试储蓄挑战:第一周存1美元,第二周存2美元,每周递增。 15.根据上文“Avoid buying things on impulse. Keeping enough sleep, people can make themselves refreshed and dynamic. However, it usually takes a lot of willpower to wake up early on a winter’s day. 16 . With all these tips, you’re not afraid of getting up early on a freezing winter. Seek out as much sunlight as possible. 17 When you wake up, go outside for a relaxed walk, or sit in the sunlight while you have a cup of coffee to avoid being in asleep state all along, you’d also better raise the curtains so that you won’t have a very dark sleeping environment. 18 . If you fly straight into getting up at your expected time every day, you’ll feel tired during the transition (过渡) within a few weeks. For some people, those first few days from your old routine to a new schedule aren’t safe and hard to bear. In that case, gradually ease into the early-bird life. They should shift (转换) half an hour, wait a few days, shift another half an hour, wait a few days, and then shift another half an hour. 19 Reduce stress and relax in the evenings. A continuous bedtime isn’t as important as sticking to the same wake up time every day, but it’s still important to make sure you’re getting enough sleep. 20 So you’ll need to inch your bedtime forward as you shift a new schedule. Start at least an hour before you hit the bed and cut back on stuff related to daily life. Taking these tips into consideration, you are much more likely to be a morning person. A.Develop the habit step by step. B.That’s much easier for people to tolerate (忍受). C.The sun is the driver of our internal clock (生物钟). D.Stop the previous sleep habit immediately. E.Here are some steps to take to become a morning person on a cold day. F.Therefore, developing a healthy sleeping habit is very significant. G.Without enough hours of sleep, the mind and body can’t properly recharge 16.上文“However, it usually takes a lot of willpower to wake up early on a winter’s day. E选项“Here are some steps to take to become a morning person on a cold day. 17.小标题“Seek out as much sunlight as possible. C选项“The sun is the driver of our internal clock (生物钟). 下文“When you wake up, go outside for a relaxed walk, or sit in the sunlight...” 18.下文“If you fly straight into getting up at your expected time every day, you’ll feel tired during the transition (过渡) within a few weeks. For some people, those first few days from your old routine to a new schedule aren’t safe and hard to bear. In that case, gradually ease into the early-bird life. They should shift (转换) half an hour, wait a few days, shift another half an hour, wait a few days, and then shift another half an hour.(如果你试图一步到位,每天直接按照目标时间起床,那么在几周的适应期内你会感到疲惫不堪。 A选项“Develop the habit step by step. 故选A项。 19.上文“They should shift (转换) half an hour, wait a few days, shift another half an hour, wait a few days, and then shift another half an hour. B选项“That’s much easier for people to tolerate (忍受). 句中的“That”指代的就是上文描述的“shift (转换) half an hour, wait a few days...” 20.上文“A continuous bedtime isn’t as important as sticking to the same wake up time every day, but it’s still important to make sure you’re getting enough sleep. G选项“Without enough hours of sleep, the mind and body can’t properly recharge (恢复体力). 下文“So you’ll need to inch your bedtime forward as you shift a new schedule. Passage 5 How to Boost Focus for Effective Studying In an era filled with distractions — from phone notifications or social media to noisy classrooms or — staying focused while studying has become a major challenge for many students. 21 Here are some tips to help you stay concentrated and make your study time more productive. Initially, create a dedicated study space. Having a specific area for studying, like a desk in your room or a quiet corner in the library, helps train your brain to associate that space with “work mode”. Ensure this area is well- lit, free of a mess, and has all your necessary materials at hand. 22 Next, use proven techniques to manage your time effectively. A popular time- management method, called Pomodoro Technique, involves working in short, focused bursts followed by short breaks. To put it into practice, start by setting a timer for 25 minutes, called a “Pomodoro”. 23 After that, take a5- minute break to relax and once you have completed four such Pomodoros, take a longer 15-30 minute break to rest your brain. 24 Many students think they can “save time” by doing multiple things at once, but the fact is far from this. Multitasking actually makes you less efficient and leads to lower- quality work. Our brains aren’t designed to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Instead, focus on one task at a time, and finish it before moving on to the next. Finally, never underestimate the connection between physical health and mental focus. 25 Getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise are not just good for your body — they are fundamental to maintaining sharp mental clarity. If you’re tired or hungry, it will be much harder to stay concentrated. A.Then, work on the task till the time is up. B.Furthermore, avoid doing several things at a time. C.Focus is closely linked to your overall physical well- being. D.Afterwards, set clear and achievable goals for each study session. E.The good news is that it is a skill you can develop with practice. F.Therefore, it is crucial to keep your study area tidy and well- organized. G.The instant you sit down there, your brain will automatically start to shift into a focused state. 21.由上文“In an era filled with distractions — from phone notifications or social media to noisy classrooms or — staying focused while studying has become a major challenge for many students.(在这个充满干扰的时代——从手机通知或社交媒体到嘈杂的教室——学习时保持专注对许多学生来说已成为一大挑战。)” E选项“The good news is that it is a skill you can develop with practice.(好消息是,这是一种你可以通过练习培养的技能。)” 22.由上文“Initially, create a dedicated study space. Instead, focus on one task at a time, and finish it before moving on to the next.(许多学生认为他们可以同时做多件事来“节省时间”,但事实远非如此。 B选项“Furthermore, avoid doing several things at a time.(此外,避免同时做几件事。)” 25.由上文“Finally, never underestimate the connection between physical health and mental focus.(最后,永远不要低估身体健康与精神专注之间的联系。)” C选项“Focus is closely linked to your overall physical well-being.(专注力与你的整体身体健康密切相关。)” C。 Passage 6 To figure out how to choose a career, start by taking a good look at yourself. Your talents, your passions and your mission are like the small wires (线). 26 From there, you’ll narrow the field further by looking at the specifics of different career options you’re most suited for. List your skills and talents. No matter who you are, there are plenty of things you’re good at. You might know what those talents are already, but go ahead and make a list of every one that comes to mind. 27 Don’t leave out any of them, even if you don’t think it qualifies as a career skill. Identify your passions and mission. If you’re going to find a meaningful career, passion isn’t just a pipe dream but a must. It means the work will fulfill you. 28 To keep commitment (投入) over a long time, you also need a deeper purpose. This purpose defines your mission: the contribution you want to make and the results you try to see. 29 Matters like how much money you want to make and where you want to live are important too. Think about these questions to narrow down your options: How much money do you need to make? Do you want flexibility in your job? What kind of benefits are important to you? What kind of environment do you excel in? If you’ve managed to get through everything above and have a clear answer for what you’re wired to do, congratulations! If you’re still unsure, that’s okay. 30 There’s only so much career shopping you can do before you have to just go for it. A.Consider the challenges you may meet. B.Think about practical parts of a job. C.However, passion alone isn’t enough. D.You don’t have to have this figured out by dinnertime. E.These are all hints that tell you what your strengths are. F.They combine to form a picture of what you’re wired to do. G.Your mission will follow if you’re passionate about your work. 26.根据上文“Your talents, your passions and your mission are like the small wires (线). (你的天赋、热情和使命就像细小的线)”以及下文“From there, you’ll narrow the field further by looking at the specifics of different career options you’re most suited for. 27.根据上文“You might know what those talents are already, but go ahead and make a list of every one that comes to mind. (你可能已经知道自己有哪些天赋,但还是要把能想到的都列出来)”以及下文“Don’t leave out any of them, even if you don’t think it qualifies as a career skill. (不要遗漏任何一项,即使你认为它算不上职业技能)”可知,上文建议列出自己的天赋,下文说注意不要遗漏,E选项“These are all hints that tell you what your strengths are. 28.根据上文“If you’re going to find a meaningful career, passion isn’t just a pipe dream but a must. It means the work will fulfill you. 它意味着这份工作能让你获得满足感)”以及下文“To keep commitment (投入) over a long time, you also need a deeper purpose. This purpose defines your mission: the contribution you want to make and the results you try to see. 29.根据下文“Matters like how much money you want to make and where you want to live are important too. Think about these questions to narrow down your options: How much money do you need to make? Do you want flexibility in your job? What kind of benefits are important to you? What kind of environment do you excel in? 可知,下文列举了一些选择职业时要考虑的实际问题,B选项“Think about practical parts of a job. If you’re still unsure, that’s okay. 如果你仍然不确定,也没关系)”以及下文“There’s only so much career shopping you can do before you have to just go for it. Passage 7 Self-Doubt isn’t something that you are born with, it is developed as you pass the different stages of life. 31 Here are some strategies that you can capitalize on to overcome self-doubt. 32 Comparing yourself is an unpleasant act, and it falls under self-destruction. Why would you compare yourself with a family member, a friend, or even your colleague when each of your lives is different? You should focus on yourself and only your achievements, which will allow you to fulfill your goals without any worries. Reflect back to your past achievements 33 Self-reflection is one of the best tools to wipe out self-doubt. It makes you remember that you once achieved something great. It also makes you believe that you can achieve that level of success again through concentrated efforts. Always be in the company of supportive people “You are known by the company you keep”, is one of the best sayings to explain this strategy. We should be surrounded by people that support and love us, not people that constantly make us doubt ourselves. When you are in the company of good people, they will always encourage you to be better. 34 Seek professional help if necessary Sometimes the situation can become too much to handle, this is the time when we should seek professional help. 35 Talk about your feelings often, and let all the negative emotions out, which will make you feel a lot better. Love yourself more and your problems will start decreasing! A.Never compare yourself with others. B.Focus on your family members and friends. C.Remember the time when you achieved something remarkable? D.Being around negative people is very bad for our mental health. E.Self-doubt can become a persistent obstacle if not taken care of. F.They will help you recover from negative and stressful situations. G.Living with self-doubt can be very challenging, as it limits your potential. 31.空前“Self-Doubt isn’t something that you are born with, it is developed as you pass the different stages of life.(自我怀疑并非与生俱来,而是在人生不同阶段逐步形成的。)” 而下文“Here are some strategies that you can capitalize on to overcome self-doubt. G“Living with self-doubt can be very challenging, as it limits your potential. 根据下文“Comparing yourself is an unpleasant act, and it falls under self-destruction. Why would you compare yourself with a family member, a friend, or even your colleague when each of your lives is different? You should focus on yourself and only your achievements, which will allow you to fulfill your goals without any worries.(攀比是一种令人不悦的行为,而且完全属于自我毁灭。 A“Never compare yourself with others. 故选A。 33. 而下文“Self-reflection is one of the best tools to wipe out self-doubt. It makes you remember that you once achieved something great. C“Remember the time when you achieved something remarkable? 34.上文“When you are in the company of good people, they will always encourage you to be better. F“They will help you recover from negative and stressful situations. 35.上文“Sometimes the situation can become too much to handle, this is the time when we should seek professional help.(有时,当局面变得难以掌控,便是我们需要寻求专业帮助的时候了。)” E“Self-doubt can become a persistent obstacle if not taken care of.(如果不加干预,自我怀疑会变成一个挥之不去的障碍。)” E。 Passage 8 Do you ever feel that there aren’t enough hours in a day? That time is passing too quickly, and it’s impossible to get everything done. 36 But then, when you go out into the countryside, suddenly everything seems slower and more relaxed, as if time itself has changed. This is not just your imagination. Recent research suggests that the solution to our constant lack of time might be found in nature. Psychologist Richardo Correia found that spending time in nature can change how we feel about time and may even make us feel like we have more of it. Correia looked at studies that compared how people experienced time in cities and in nature. These studies consistently found that people felt time was more plentiful when they were in natural settings. 37 In the same way, when doing tasks in a green environment, people felt time passed more slowly than when in a city. 38 Other research shows that being in nature helps us shift our attention away from the immediate present and towards our future needs. So instead of just worrying about current time pressures, nature helps us see things from a broader perspective. 39 This can help us decide what’s most important, allowing us to work towards long-term goals instead of always feeling we are barely managing our daily tasks. This happens partly because time in nature seems to make us less impulsive. 40 We become better at planning for what is truly important for our future, rather than just reacting to what feels urgent right now. So, if you’re always short on time, maybe the best thing to do is to go outside and let nature change your sense of time. A.For example, people often think a walk in the countryside is longer than a walk of the same time in the city. B.This change in how we see time is key to reducing daily worries. C.For many of us, the pressures of work and being always connected online leave us feeling constantly busy. D.Nature doesn't only change how we experience the present moment. E.This feeling of having more time helps us think beyond just meeting immediate deadlines. F.In other words, it helps us resist the urge for quick rewards and focus on long-term benefits. G.However, this effect can only be felt during the day. 36.上文“Do you ever feel that there aren’t enough hours in a day? That time is passing too quickly, and it’s impossible to get everything done. 时间过得太快了,不可能把所有事情都做完)”提出了一个普遍的感受,即时间匮乏,以及下文“But then, when you go out into the countryside, suddenly everything seems slower and more relaxed, as if time itself has changed.(但是,当你走进乡村时,突然间一切似乎都变得更慢、更放松,仿佛时间本身已经改变了)”是一个明显的转折,开始描述走进自然后的相反感受。因此,空白处需要进一步解释或具体说明为什么我们会有时间不够的感觉,以形成转折前后的对比,C选项“For many of us, the pressures of work and being always connected online leave us feeling constantly busy. 37.上文“These studies consistently found that people felt time was more plentiful when they were in natural settings. 表明研究表明人们在自然环境中感觉时间更充裕,以及下文“In the same way, when doing tasks in a green environment, people felt time passed more slowly than when in a city.(同样,在绿色环境中完成任务时,人们感觉时间比在城市里过得慢)”是另一个支持总观点的具体发现。 A选项“For example, people often think a walk in the countryside is longer than a walk of the same time in the city. 故选A。 38.下文“Other research shows that being in nature helps us shift our attention away from the immediate present and towards our future needs.(其他研究表明,置身于大自然中有助于我们将注意力从当下转移到未来的需求上)”提到其他研究表明身处大自然能帮助我们把注意力从当下转移到未来需求上,D选项“Nature doesn't only change how we experience the present moment. 39.上文“So instead of just worrying about current time pressures, nature helps us see things from a broader perspective.(因此,大自然帮助我们从更广阔的角度看待事物,而不仅仅是担心当前的时间压力)”提到大自然帮助我们从更广阔的视角看待事情,下文“This can help us decide what’s most important, allowing us to work towards long-term goals instead of always feeling we are barely managing our daily tasks.(这可以帮助我们决定什么是最重要的,让我们朝着长期目标努力,而不是总是觉得我们几乎无法管理日常任务)”中的This指代空白处的内容,且描述的是“决定重要性”和“为长期目标努力”的具体好处。 说明这能帮助我们决定什么最重要,让我们朝着长期目标努力,E选项“This feeling of having more time helps us think beyond just meeting immediate deadlines. 40.上文“This happens partly because time in nature seems to make us less impulsive.(这在一定程度上发生,是因为身处大自然似乎让我们不那么冲动)”指出身处大自然让我们不那么冲动,以及下文“We become better at planning for what is truly important for our future, rather than just reacting to what feels urgent right now.(我们更善于规划对我们未来真正重要的事情,而不仅仅是对现在感到紧迫的事情做出反应)”描述了“不那么冲动”带来的积极结果。 F选项“In other words, it helps us resist the urge for quick rewards and focus on long-term benefits. F。 Passage 9 For many people, seeing a therapist (治疗师) is essential. The therapy by talking about feelings helps them reflect, release emotions, and better understand themselves. 41 It has become a useful choice for some. One key reason is accessibility and cost. Lee, 42, from Texas, once paid $60 to $150 per therapy session. 42 Then she used ChatGPT, which she named Alex, for dating and family issues. “Alex is always there, handles hard topics, and is more consistent than some therapists I’ve seen. It was beyond my expectations,” Lee said. 43 Psychotherapist Caroline Plumer says AI may lack objectivity, stopping people from seeing the whole picture. Also, solving family problems takes time, not quick chats. Too much information at once can overload users, and over-reliance on AI is a risk. Psychiatrist Keith Sakata adds that time without a therapist helps build independence and resilience. To use AI wisely, first, watch how often you rely on it. Don’t let it replace real human connections, says Harvard’s Glenn Cohen. Second, try other free or low-cost resources like exercise or apps such as Calm. 44 Sakata still thinks human therapists are the best and safest choice. As AI continues to evolve in the mental health space, it’s clear that it can be a valuable support tool when used mindfully. While AI can offer guidance, it’s important to remain balanced and remember that human connections remain at the heart of healing (治愈). Finding the right mental health support is a personal journey. 45 A.Yet experts note AI therapy has limits. B.However, AI is not accessible to everyone. C.To get a better result, she changed her way of life. D.When she lost health care access, she couldn’t continue. E.So take time to choose what works best for your well-being. F.Finally, get an in-person therapist with your doctor’s help if possible. G.Though in-person therapy was common, people now turn to AI for help. 41.后文“It has become a useful choice for some. 42.前文“Lee, 42, from Texas, once paid $60 to $150 per therapy session. 后文“Then she used ChatGPT, which she named Alex, for dating and family issues. 43.空处位于段首,后文“Psychotherapist Caroline Plumer says AI may lack objectivity, stopping people from seeing the whole picture. Also, solving family problems takes time, not quick chats. Too much information at once can overload users, and over-reliance on AI is a risk. Psychiatrist Keith Sakata adds that time without a therapist helps build independence and resilience. 故选A。 44.前文“To use AI wisely, first, watch how often you rely on it. Don’t let it replace real human connections, says Harvard’s Glenn Cohen. Second, try other free or low-cost resources like exercise or apps such as Calm. 以“Finally”一词延续了上文的列举顺序逻辑,且其核心建议与后文“Sakata still thinks human therapists are the best and safest choice.(Sakata仍然认为人类治疗师是最佳、最安全的选择。)” 45.空处位于文章结尾处,前文“As AI continues to evolve in the mental health space, it’s clear that it can be a valuable support tool when used mindfully. While AI can offer guidance, it’s important to remain balanced and remember that human connections remain at the heart of healing (治愈). Finding the right mental health support is a personal journey. E。 Passage 10 Master body language in public speaking In public speaking, body language can make or break your presentation. Confident body language, like standing tall, helps you establish trust and connection with your audience. 46 When used correctly, body language becomes a powerful tool for strengthening interaction. So explore key techniques to improve your nonverbal communication skills in public speaking. Practice in front of a mirror. One of the most effective ways to improve body language is through self-observation. Practicing in front of a mirror allows you to observe your poses, facial expressions, and gestures in real time. 47 . Match body language with your speech for impact. Effective communication happens when your verbal messages perfectly match your nonverbal delivery. 48 When you’re delivering a message of enthusiasm, your facial expressions and gestures should reveal that energy. Similarly, calm body language helps project reliability when you’re speaking about a serious topic. This is crucial in building trust with your audience. 49 Pausing (停顿) at the right moment while speaking helps you manage your pace and avoid unnecessary words like “um” or “ah”, and can also strengthen your body language. For example, a pause before delivering a key point allows your facial expressions and gestures to attach significance to the message. It gives you time to make meaningful eye contact with your audience and allows them to process your words. Employ open gestures. 50 However, unnecessary or uncontrolled movements may cause distractions from your message. The key is to try to use open, purposeful gestures that feel natural and match your words. Open gestures, like uncrossed arms, palms up, and broad hand movements, signal openness, confidence, and warmth, helping your audience feel more comfortable. A.Focus on intentional movements. B.Make use of strategic short silence. C.You can use hand gestures to illustrate progress. D.Your body language should strengthen your speech. E.This makes you more aware of your body language patterns. F.Gestures do support communication by adding emphasis and clarity. G.By contrast, nervous habits like avoiding eye contact can distract listeners. 46.根据上文“Confident body language, like standing tall, helps you establish trust and connection with your audience.(自信的肢体语言,比如挺直站立,有助于你与观众建立信任和联系。)”可知,前文讲述了自信的肢体语言的积极作用,G选项“By contrast, nervous habits like avoiding eye contact can distract listeners.(相比之下,像避免眼神接触这样的紧张习惯会分散听众的注意力。)” 47.根据上文“Practicing in front of a mirror allows you to observe your poses, facial expressions, and gestures in real time.(在镜子前练习可以让你实时观察自己的姿势、面部表情和手势。)”可知,镜子前练习能让你观察自身肢体语言,E选项“This makes you more aware of your body language patterns.(这会让你更清楚自己的肢体语言模式。)” 48.根据本段小标题“Match body language with your speech for impact.(让肢体语言与演讲匹配以增强影响力。)”以及下文“When you’re delivering a message of enthusiasm, your facial expressions and gestures should reveal that energy.(当你传递热情的信息时,你的面部表情和手势应该展现出那种能量。)”可知,本段核心是肢体语言与演讲内容相匹配,D选项“Your body language should strengthen your speech.(你的肢体语言应该强化你的演讲。)” 根据下文“Pausing (停顿) at the right moment while speaking helps you manage your pace and avoid unnecessary words like “um” or “ah”, and can also strengthen your body language. Passage 2 Ready to see the world and experience the excitement of adventuring out on your own, but how do you do that when you’re a teenager? Passage 3 Many people want to feel more secure with their money. A.Plan your money B.Save for emergencies C.You don’t need a lot of money to begin D.Saving helps you reach your financial goals E.Look for discounts or sales whenever you can F.Gradually, you form your regular saving habits G.You might change your mind or find a better deal Passage 4 How to become a morning person Everyone knows that early to bed and early to rise is good for your health. G.Without enough hours of sleep, the mind and body can’t properly recharge Passage 5 How to Boost Focus for Effective Studying In an era filled with distractions — from phone notifications or social media to noisy classrooms or — staying focused while studying has become a major challenge for many students. Passage 6 To figure out how to choose a career, start by taking a good look at yourself. Passage 8 Do you ever feel that there aren’t enough hours in a day? Passage 9 For many people, seeing a therapist (治疗师) is essential. Passage 10 Master body language in public speaking In public speaking, body language can make or break your presentation.
