After having two more glasses of cordial (甜酒), Diana turned pale (苍白的) suddenly. “I’m ill.” she said, and she ran all the way home.
On Monday, Anne went to see if Diana was better. She soon ran back home with tears on her face. “What’s the matter, Anne?” asked Marilla.
“Mrs. Barry says that I sent Diana home drunk on Saturday. She says she will never let Diana play with me again!”
Marilla went to the cupboard (厨柜) and then returned with a bottle of wine (酒). “Anne, you gave Diana a wine instead of cordial. Didn’t you know the difference?”

My school life was very busy and competitive not only in sports but also in all my subjects. The pressure of trying to get excellent grades while joining in different school activities could be great. Sometimes it seemed like I lived at school! When I was at home, my time was spent doing homework. Sometimes I was so busy finishing a project that I could hardly see my family.
I have a nine-year-old sister named Sally. We used to be close, but after I graduated from her primary school, I saw her less and less. I tried to attend her soccer games, but my own play practices and meetings always got in the way.
One day, I came home to an empty house and found a note from my mom. She was still at work, and my sister was at a friend’s house and would be dropped off later.
At five o’ clock, I went to turn on the light near the front door and saw my sister walking towards the door with her friend and her friend’s father. I heard them talking.
“Is anyone at home?” the father asked.
“Just my elder sister—Linda, and she only minds her own business. She’s probably in her room as usual,” my sister replied. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t even know this man but my sister’ s words made me sound like one of Cinderella’s selfish stepsisters. I opened the door, thanked the father, and then shut the door and started to cry.
A big fight followed, ending with me driving my sister to her room. But what was worse, I realized that I really hadn’t been a good elder sister. I had forgotten what was important and what really mattered. In fact, my sister made me see that my grades didn’t matter to everyone—certainly not to her. Vincent’s father, Dorus, was serious. He believed that the most important things were tidiness, behaving properly and teaching others how to be good.
Vincent’s mum was called Anna. She was kind, but had a sad way of looking at life.
Vincent tried his best to please his parents, but he was also stubborn. Although he tried his best, he often disagreed with his mum and dad.
On weekends, they took Vincent and his brothers and sisters out for walks through the village, dressed in their best clothes. “We must pay attention to our appearances and set an example for others!” his mother would say. But Vincent would walk behind them, kicking at the dirt (尘土). “Why can’t I do my own thing instead?” he wondered.
His father tried to teach him lessons, but the boy would not listen. His mother showed him how to draw, which he liked, but she didn’t like the things he drew.
The real problem was that Vincent was full of big emotions and felt trapped in the small house they lived in. Drawing helped him to relax, and so did reading. He enjoyed stories by writers like Shakespeare and Goethe. They shaped powerful heroes with powerful feelings—just like him! But the best thing of all was to get out of the house and into the world beyond.
It was Vincent’s uncle who helped him leave the village. “Uncle Cent” was a successful art businessman who had a big house in Paris. He offered Vincent a job working for his art company in the city of the Hague! For the young man, this was a chance to leave away from his family and all the rules he had to follow.
Working for the company of Goupil & Cie opened Vincent's eyes to the magic of art. He was amazed by art of all kinds. It was a world of wonders. He went to the galleries (美术馆) in the city and read all he could about art.
The fire inside him would one day change the history of art forever!

I’ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it as mother sat doing letters. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world.
Years later, during her final illness, mother kept different things for my sister and brother. “But the desk,” she’d said again, “is for Elizabeth.”
I never saw her anger, never saw her cry. I knew she loved me; she just showed it in action. But as a young girl, I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. They never happened. And a gulf (隔阂) opened between us. I was too “emotional (易动感情的)”. But she lived “on the surface”.
As years passed, I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know in any way she chose that she did forgive (原谅) me. I posted the letter and waited for her answer. None came. My hope turned to disappointment (失望), then little interest, finally, peace. It seemed that nothing happened. I couldn’t be sure that the letter had even got to mother. I only knew I had written it, and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not.
Now the present of her desk told me, as she’d never been able to, that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside—a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded and refolded many times. It was my letter.
“In any way you choose. Mother, you always chose the act that speaks louder than words.”

4.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.My letter to Mother B.Mother and Children
C.My Mother’s Desk D.Talks between Mother and Me

Ryan and Ahmed sat on their bicycles at the start of the cyclocross course. Ahmed had been competing in cyclocross for three years, but this was Ryan’s first race. He wished he could remember everything Ahmed had taught him.
Ryan reviewed the last six months in his mind. From the moment Ahmed had first asked whether he would like to try the sport, Ryan had been excited. Ahmed explained the importance of practising and set up a plan for them two to practise together.
Practising was hard. Ryan soon got bored with working on the same skills over and over. He was ready to race! Ryan ended up skipping many of the practices. When Ryan did go to practices, he spent more time doing tricks with his bike than listening to Ahmed’s tips.
The big race day finally arrived.
“Now the real fun begins,” Ryan said excitedly as he sat at the starting line.
“You need to get serious,” Ahmed warned. “Cyclocross can be dangerous.”
Bang! The starting gun went off. The boys rushed off the starting line. Ryan saw the first obstacle ahead. It was a series of small hurdles (障碍).
“Here I go!” Ryan shouted when he reached the hurdles. He jumped off his bike and landed hard on his foot. Next, he had to get his bike onto his shoulder. Ryan could not remember what Ahmed said about shouldering the bike. He tried to pick it up by the wheels but it dropped. Finally, he got his bike off the ground. As he ran, the bike’s weight pressed down on his shoulder, and he lost his balance, unable to stay on his feet. Before he knew it, he was lying face-down in the mud.
“Are you okay?” Ryan heard his friend ask. Ahmed reached down to help Ryan. Ryan was thankful that Ahmed cared more about him than about the race. He caught Ahmed’s hand and stood.
“Ouch!” Ryan cried. It hurt to put weight on his ankle. “You were right, Ahmed. Cyclocross is about more than strength and speed. Can we spend a few more months training together? I want to finish my next cyclocross race!”

In the city of Kabul, Afghanistan (阿富汗), there lived a young boy named Amir. He lived in a big, beautiful house with his father, who was a wealthy and respected man in the community. Amir had a servant (仆人) named Hassan, who was the same age as him. Although they were from different social classes, they were like brothers and spent a lot of time together.
Every morning, before Amir woke up, Hassan would get everything ready for him. He made Amir’s breakfast, prepared his school things, and even cleaned his clothes. After school, they would go to a nearby hill. There, they would sit under a big tree, and Amir would read stories to Hassan. Even though Hassan couldn’t read, he loved listening to Amir read. He would ask Amir many questions about the stories, showing how much he was interested.
One of their favorite things to do in the winter was to take part in the kite-flying competitions in Kabul. Amir was really good at flying kites. He could make his kite fly high in the sky and cut the strings (线) of other kites easily. Hassan, on the other hand, was the best kite runner in the neighborhood. Once a kite was cut down, Hassan could always find it quickly, no matter where it landed.
During one important kite-flying competition, Amir managed to cut the last remaining kite string, and his kite became the winner. Everyone cheered for him. Hassan, as always, ran to catch the fallen kite for Amir. He shouted, “For you, a thousand times over!” with a big smile on his face. Amir was so proud of winning the competition and couldn’t wait for Hassan to come back with the kite.
________. Some bad kids in the neighborhood stopped Hassan. They knew Hassan was just a servant and thought they could bully (欺负) him. They asked Hassan to give them the kite, but Hassan refused. He decided to bring the kite back to Amir whatever happened. The bad kids then did something very terrible to Hassan.
When Amir finally found Hassan, he saw what had happened. But he was too scared (恐惧的) to do anything to help Hassan. He just hid and watched, feeling very sorry later. “What do you think I should do?” asks your friend, as she sits beside you, waiting for your advice. This is no easy situation. Say something your friend disagrees with or something helpless, and you might feel you’ve disappointed (使失望) her.
It’s human nature to want to offer solutions (解决方法) when someone comes to you with a problem. It’s also easy to fall into the trap (陷阱) of simply saying that “Everything will be OK”. 1 But we often say that because we believe we need to say something. This is because we’re glad that our friend has come to us for help, even if we don’t really think we’re able to give it. 2 The answer is yes… if it’s done in the right way.
In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them. It’s important to try to work out whether they’re actually asking for advice, or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head. 3 There’s no harm (伤害) in asking whether they’d like you to give suggestions.
It’s also important to be honest. If you’re unable to think of a way to solve your friends’ problem, just say so. Your friends won’t feel upset, and you can still listen carefully and try to put yourself in their shoes. 4 You can ask yourself, “What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?” Later you can go back to your friends with a few helpful suggestions.
5 It can be hard to listen to your friends going over and over the same thing without being able to help them. They will certainly be thankful if you just allow them to “talk it out”, though. Maybe they’re building up courage (勇气) to take action, and need to convince (说服) themselves they’re doing the right thing. Just being there for them may be all you have to do to make things better.
A.Friendship is the most important to us.
B.This is not actually useful for your friend.
C.Then you can go away and try to think of something helpful.
D.You can find someone else to ask for their ideas.
E.Talking may make people feel better all by themselves.
F.Sometimes a problem doesn’t go away overnight.
G.So is it a good idea to try to give advice at all?
(H)
Starting at a new school can be challenging, especially when it comes to making friends. However, with the right strategies, you’ll be well on your way to building great friendships.
Be Yourself
Don’t try to be someone you’re not. People are more likely to be drawn to those who are genuine. 1 For example, if you love reading, join a book club at school. By showing your true interests, you’ll attract like-minded people.
Be Friendly and Approachable
A simple smile can go a long way. 1 Make eye contact when you talk to others and show that you’re interested in what they have to say. Sit next to new people in class or at lunch, and start a conversation by asking about their interests or how their day is going.
Join Clubs or Teams
School clubs and sports teams are excellent places to meet new people. 1 Whether it’s a music club, a soccer team, or an art group, joining an activity you enjoy gives you the opportunity to bond with others over a shared passion. You’ll find yourself spending regular time with these people, which helps in getting to know each other better.
Be a Good Listener
When others are talking, give them your full attention. 1 Avoid interrupting and show empathy towards their experiences. Being a good listener makes people feel valued, and they’ll be more likely to want to be friends with you.
Stay Positive
A positive attitude is attractive. 1 Even if you face difficulties, try to see the bright side. People will be more inclined to hang out with someone who makes them feel good and spreads positive energy.
A.This will make you seem open and warm.
B.Avoid talking about your own problems too much.
C.Share your hobbies and be interested in theirs.
D.Don’t complain constantly about school or your classmates.
E.It’s easier to connect with others when you’re involved in something you love.
F.People respect those who can express their opinions clearly and politely.
G.Be confident in your unique qualities and let them shine through.

Suddenly, my memory was interrupted when I heard the car’s horn (喇叭) behind me. I saw the school bus quickly pulling away, and started to follow it again. However, this time I did so with a fuller heart than ever before. I took that beautiful moment and stored it safely in 8 (I) mind, where I knew it would remain forever.
One day, we all will leave this school of learning and love, and 9 (final) get to go home again. So 10 (enjoy) your days here at school. Love and learn. But know that one day you will be going home where the hugs are eternal (永久的) and the love never ends.

“I never tasted it,” cried Anne, “But now I can’t play with Diana any more!”
The next Monday, Anne surprised Marilla by coming down from her room with her books. “I’m going back to school.” she said, “It’s all I have left, now that my friend is gone.”
Marilla tried not to show how happy she was to hear this. “You should work hard.” she said. Anne did work hard, and soon she was top of the class.
One evening, as Anne did homework alone. Suddenly, she looked up and saw Diana standing at the door. She looked very worried. “What’s wrong, Diana?” asked Anne.

根据“I never tasted it.” 故选A。
根据“Marilla tried not to show how happy she was to hear this.”

All that matters to her is that I’m her sister, and I’ve come to realize that’s what matters most to me, too.

A.looked after B.sent back C.raised up D.left alone

4.What did Linda realize after the fight?
A.Grades matter a lot for students. B.Sisters should be polite to each other.

根据文章内容“I tried to attend her soccer games…”,“One day, I came home to an empty house and found a note from my mom.”,“Just my elder sister—Linda, and she only minds her own business…”及“A big fight followed…”

A.He had a serious mother and a humorous father.
B.He lived very happily with his family when he was little.
C.He liked the rules in his family and always followed his parents.
D.He enjoyed losing himself in nature and finding power from great writers.
4.What would Vincent probably be in the future according to the passage?
A.A writer. B.A painter. C.A researcher. D.A businessman.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.B

根据第三段“Although he tried his best, he often disagreed with his mum and dad.”
根据第四段“But Vincent would walk behind them, kicking at the dirt (尘土). ‘Why can’t I do my own thing instead?’ he wondered.” 故选A。
根据第六段“Drawing helped him to relax, and so did reading. He enjoyed stories by writers like Shakespeare and Goethe. They shaped powerful heroes with powerful feelings—just like him!
1.The writer began to love her mother’s desk ________.
A.after mother died B.before she became a writer
C.when she was a child D.when mother gave it to her
2.The writer was probably ________.
A.a teacher B.a doctor C.a writer D.an actress
3.What did mother do with her daughter’s letter asking for forgiveness?
A.She had never received the letter.
B.She read the letter again and again till she died.
C.For years, she often talked about the letter.
D.She didn’t forgive her daughter at all in her life.
4.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.My letter to Mother B.Mother and Children
C.My Mother’s Desk D.Talks between Mother and Me
根据文章第一段“I’ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it as mother sat doing letters.”
根据文章第一段“Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world.”
根据文章倒数第二段“I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside—a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded and refolded many times. It was my letter.”

1.Why does the writer talk about Ryan’s practice in Paragraph 3?
A.To introduce the safety rules of cyclocross.
B.To imply why Ryan lost his cyclocross race.
C.To provide information about cyclocross race.
D.To show Ryan’s efforts in practising cyclocross.
2.Which is the right order of the following events?
a. Ryan fell over in the mud.

This event changed everything between Amir and Hassan. Amir couldn’t face Hassan because of his own weakness and their once close friendship started to break apart.

【答案】1.B 2.G 3.E 4.C 5.F

3.根据“In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them. It’s important to try to work out whether they’re actually asking for advice, or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head.”及“There’s no harm in asking whether they’d like you to give suggestions.”
4.根据“Your friends won’t feel upset, and you can still listen carefully and try to put yourself in their shoes.”及“You can ask yourself, ‘What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?’ Later you can go back to your friends with a few helpful suggestions.”
5.根据“It can be hard to listen to your friends going over and over the same thing without being able to help them.”

A positive attitude is attractive. 1 Even if you face difficulties, try to see the bright side. People will be more inclined to hang out with someone who makes them feel good and spreads positive energy.

介词without后面用she的宾格形式her“她”。故填her。
根据“they were friendly to her, she was still a little upset.”
故填a。
故填At.
根据“Ann was...moved that tears filled her eyes.”可知,是so...that“如此……以至于”句型。故填so。

例文:
I still remember the story with my best friend Tom. I once loved stamp-collecting deeply. Tom secretly threw my stamps away, making me extremely angry and determined not to talk to him again. Our English teacher mediated, telling us good friends should always show love and understanding. Tom apologized sincerely, and we hugged tightly. Forgiving him filled me with relief. Changes in Junior High
Hello everyone!
Looking back at my time in junior high, I find I have changed a lot.
In the past, I was too shy to talk in class. I was not interested in study and had few friends. I often felt lonely.
The change started when my teacher encouraged me to answer a question. I raised my hand slowly and shared my ideas. To my surprise, my classmates all cheered for me. That moment was crucial for me. I became more outgoing and made more friends.
Now, I have many wonderful memories. I’m happy and full of courage. Next year, I will keep trying and become better.
Thank you!
