Nucleic Acid Test Robots
Are you afraid of nucleic acid tests (核酸检测)? This AI robot might make you a little comfortable. Pengcheng Qinggeng is the world’s first robot that can do the best. It showed up at the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services. A company from Hangzhou made it. The robot can take cotton swabs (棉签) and find people’s nostrils (鼻孔). He made a robotic “eyeball” which he calls “Third Eye”. People can wear it on their forehead. It can look at what’s in front of the user and make a noise to tell them if something is in their way.
Stay cool with this app
When you go out on a hot day, do you often want some shade (阴凉)? A new app helps people in Barcelona, Spain, find the shadiest route (路线). Cool Walks, a map app, show users different walking routes. People can choose the shortest route or a shady route that might take a little longer. There is even a “vampire mode (吸血鬼模式)” that avoids sunlight at all costs. Have you ever imagined yourself as the main role of a hero story? It might more than just excite your imagination.
The hero’s journey, which was first made popular by Joseph Campbell in his 1949 book The Hero with a Thousand Faces, is a common theme (主题) in stories. Heroes like Mulan and Harry Potter, start life-changing journeys, face great dangers, and come back changed for the better.
Research suggests that seeing life through the lens (滤镜) of a hero’s journey can help you cut down stress (压力) and feel more sure about yourself, which in turn lead to greater life satisfaction. Benjamin A.Rogers, one of the researchers, explains, “The way people tell their life stories shapes how meaningful their lives feel”. Rogers believes that thinking of your favorite hero’s story gives you a full view of what might be next for you, or what you should be paying attention to. It makes you believe that a new journey almost certainly awaits (降临于) you.
How can you start imagining your life as a hero’s journey? First, reconsider who you are. Ask yourself, what makes you you? Who’s your favorite role in a movie or book? In what way can you relate to him/her? Writing down the answers can help you see yourself through a more heroic lens. Next, change the way you see difficulties. Going through a hard time? Think of them as chances for growth and learning. A difficulty is a chance to be the hero of your own story. Then, go on your own heroic trips. It’s about finding out something new to do, like walking a new way to school or borrowing a bike and riding it to school.
Every hero starts with one step. What’s your next move? Start today and let your own story begins.

Have you ever met someone who “looks like” their name? What does this mean exactly? Scientists are suggesting that humans can even guess someone’s name based on how they look.
Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem collected thousands of photos of people’s faces. They put four names under each photo. Then, they asked volunteers to guess which of the four names was correct. The volunteers were able to guess the right name 38 percent of the time. It seems that humans recognize certain characteristics (特点) that can give them clues (线索) about someone’s name, Reader’s Digest reported.
However, this only works when we’re looking at names within our own culture. Volunteers were also not as good at guessing the real names of people who use nicknames. This shows that a person’s appearance is affected by their name only if they use it often.
This kind of face-name matching happens “because of a process of self-fulfilling prophecy (自我实现预言), as we become what other people expect us to become,” Ruth Mayo, from the university, told science news website EurekAlert.
Some other studies have shown that gender (性别) and race (种族) stereotypes (偏见) can affect a person’s appearance. The researchers believe there are also similar stereotypes about names. For example, people tend to (倾向于) think that men named Bob should have rounder faces because the word itself looks round. People may think that women named Rose are beautiful. They expect them to be delicate and feminine, just like the flower they are named for.
21.What is the purpose of Paragraph 1?
A.To correct the mistakes in names. B.To explain the reason for writing.
C.To introduce ways of doing research. D.To lead in the topic of the text.
22.How could some of the volunteers guess the right names?
A.By guessing about the meaning of the names.
B.By connecting people’s faces with the names.
C.With the help of people’s working experience.
D.With the help of the science website EurekAlert.
23.What can we learn from Paragraphs 3 and 4?
A.It is easy for the volunteers to guess the real names of the people.
B.People will surely become what others expect them to be in the end.
C.Other people’s expectation may have an influence on our appearance.
D.Guessing one’s nickname might be difficult unless he or she often uses it.
24.How does the writer explain the stereotypes about names?
A.By giving examples. B.By raising questions.
C.By listing numbers. D.By comparing differences.
25.What is the text?
A.A result of a study. B.An introduction to a university.
C.A name of a research. D.An instruction of volunteering.

23.What can we learn from Paragraphs 3 and 4?

D.Guessing one’s nickname might be difficult unless he or she often uses it.
