One possible version:
Dear judges and fellow students,
I’m honored to share my ideas on Ecotourism: A Better Way to Travel.
Ecotourism has gained more popularity in recent years, which combines tourism with thoughtful actions from the tourists on the ecosystem. This meaningful and novel way to travel not only conserves the environment but also promotes economy, which is a win-win for both local development and the earth.
There are many things we can do to carry out ecotourism. We can help plant trees, clear rubbish, count or care for endangered animals, or monitor or remove harmful organisms. Without doubt, ecotourism is a better and more sustainable way to travel. It is high time that we minded our behavior while marveling at the beauty nature offers.
Thanks for listening!
第二节(满分 25 分)
One possible version:
With only three days left, I knew I had to act. After brainstorming some ideas, I invited Jake and Lily to my house. Opening my grandfather’s diary, I pointed at the faded photo of his class. “Your camera can save the moment for the future,” I told Jake, whose eyes suddenly sparkled. Then I suggested he photograph every corner of the school like “time travelers”. Meanwhile, Lily was engaged in my grandfather’s love letter, eager to bring hidden stories back to life. I was busy organizing layouts, combining historical accuracy with creativity. The clock was ticking, but our laughter replaced earlier frustration.
On the final day, we presented our brochure in class. We stood by the blackboard as everyone went through the pages. They examined the brochure carefully, with their fingers tracing the photos, narratives and timelines which connected three generations of graduates. Noticing surprise on every face, we couldn’t wait to hear Mr. Dow’s announcement of the winner. “This work isn’t just about the school anniversary,” he finally said, tapping the cover where our three names shone. “It’s about how its spirit lives through students’ cooperation.” That afternoon in the library, seeing our brochure on display, we realized our combined talents had created what none could alone.

(Text 1)
M: Do you prefer a window or middle seat?
W: Window, for sure. I love watching the view during takeoff and landing.
(Text 2)
M: Hey, Lisa. Do you find it hard to maintain long-distance friendships?
W: It can be challenging, but regular virtual chats help keep the connection strong.
M: I agree. Planning visits or making calls can also make a big difference.
(Text 3)
W: Michael, I’ve been feeling off-balance lately. I’m worried it might be related to the recent earthquakes.
M: It’s a normal reaction that may occur after experiencing earthquakes. Take care of yourself and don’t hesitate to seek medical help if needed.
(Text 4)
W: Tom, did you hear that Mr. Thompson is canceling the exam next week?
M: Really? That sounds too good to be true.
W: Well, that’s what Sarah told me.
M: I’d take that with a grain of salt. You know how fake news spreads around here.
(Text 5)
M: Emily, I heard you’re living the DINKWAD lifestyle now.
W: Yeah, it’s great! We both work and have no kids, just our dog. We have more time and money to enjoy life.
(Text 6)
W: Hi, I just got dropped off at the Met, and I think I left my wallet in the car.
M: I’m sorry to hear that. Let me check your ride details ... Are you Molly Price?
W: Yes, that’s me.
M: OK, I’ll contact the driver and call you back soon.
W: Thank you.
(A short time later.)
M: Hello, Ms. Price. The driver found your wallet. Can we set a time to return it to you?
W: That’s great! I’d like another ride later, so could he just bring it then and take me to my next destination?
M: That should work!
(Text 7)
M: Hi, Alice. Are you free to join us for a movie tonight?
W: Sure, as long as we don’t watch action movies. What about a romantic movie?
M: You know it’s not my thing. I’d love to go for a good laugh. There’s a new movie I’ve been wanting to watch. We could check that out tonight.
W: OK. What time should we meet?
M: How about 7:30 p.m.? The movie starts an hour later.
W: That works for me.
M: Great! We’re also having dinner before the movie. Do you want to join?
W: That sounds nice. Oh, and do you think we should book the tickets online?
M: Good idea. I’ll check the app and book them now. Do you want to sit in the middle or closer to the back?
W: Well ...
(Text 8)
W: Tom, you won’t believe what I saw online today. There’s a grandma who’s become a huge social media star! She’s like, the queen of cooking lessons.
M: Oh, you mean those granfluencers? It’s so cool how they’re sharing their lives online. My grandma would never do that. She can barely use her phone to text me.
W: Haha, same with my grandpa! He still thinks Facebook is for “young people.” He always tells me interesting stories about his childhood. I keep telling him he should start a YouTube account, but he just laughs.
M: He’d be great! People love those stories. They are so different from what younger influencers post.
W: Exactly! Plus, it’s a great way for him to stay connected with younger generations. I feel like my grandpa sometimes feels left out when we’re all on our phones.
M: Maybe we should help them get started. Let’s do it! Who knows, maybe they’ll even become popular.
W: Deal! I’ll talk to my grandpa this weekend. Let’s make them stars!
(Text 9)
M: Hi! How can I assist you today?
W: I’m just here to look around at some clothes.
M: Well, you’ve come at the right time! We’ve just got a lot of new clothes.
W: Hmm, I usually spend most of my time at work or in meetings, so I tend to wear jeans and skirts. But today, I’ve actually dressed up and put on some makeup because I’ve been invited to a party. The problem is, I don’t think my current clothes are really suitable for the occasion. I’d like to buy a new dress. Maybe something I could also wear to a concert later on.
M: I understand. What do you think of this white one?
W: Okay, I’d like to try it on ...
M: It looks fantastic on you! What do you think? Does the size fit you well?
W: Yes, it fits perfectly. I think I’ll take it.
M: Great! Let me ring it up for you.
(Text 10)
Good morning, honorable judges and teachers. I am excited to have the opportunity to present my science fair project to you today. Thank you for taking the time to listen. For this year’s science fair, I created a new project. My project focused on solar power and how it can be used in daily life, because I am very interested in finding ways to use clean and environmentally friendly power. To study that, I built a small solar-powered car and tested its performance compared to a regular battery-powered car. Then, I tested both cars in different weather conditions to see how well they worked. After several tests, I found that the solar car was able to run for longer periods when it was sunny, but the battery-powered car was more reliable on cloudy days. Through this project, I learned a lot about the importance of clean energy and got inspired to continue exploring clean energy solutions in the future.

Any good recipe needs an ingredient list,a cooking method, and if it's particularly successful,
there will be a personal touch describing how the recipe was developed through repeated tests until it
was just right. It is a balance of these elements in recipes that ensures good cookbooks are the most
important part of any kitchen.
Good communication is just like making a good dish. This is where The Art of Explanation:How
to Conmunicate with Clarity and Confidence steps in.Written by journalist Ros Atkins,it is a recipe
book for storytelling, made to be roughly looked through. The "ingredient list"is information required
to communicate effectively. The methodology is given according to the different settings.
In this book,Atkins presents a seven-step method for giving a great explanation, from getting the
main information to giving information in an easy-to-understand way.Reviewing a book of this
nature is a test ofhow well I have understood the information in this guide. The most important parts
第3页共10页
of the method include:gathering information effectively;communicating it clearly, and achieving the
delivery. But,for me,it is not this method that makes this book interesting but the "personal touch"
stories, which draw on Atkins'life, that give this book its edge.
I was most drawn to the practical examples in The Art ofExplanation, because it offered a chance
to know more about Atkins'career, from starting out as a graduate to taking a new approach to
explanation on a BBC's program,Outside Source.As Atkins puts it himself,"Tell a good story,so
people will pay attention to your every word."Stories, and how they are told, are at the heart of
journalism. It is no surprise that the stories told in the book are particularly attractive, such as how
Atkins began his journalism career as a junior reporter in South Africa. These stories make The Art
of Explanation worth reading, moving it from a textbook to something that works like a well-written
cookbook.
24.Why does the author mention recipes in the first paragraph?
A.To explain what a good recipe should be like.
B.To introduce a book on effective communication.
C.To encourage readers to make dishes themselves.
D.To stress the importance of the personal touch in a book.
25.What makes The Art of Explanation interesting?
A.The ingredient list.
B.The seven-step method.
C.The personal stories of Atkins.
D.The way to deliver the message.
26.What does the author think of the book?
A.It should be read word for word.
B.It is written in an easy-to-understand way.
C.The method introduced in the book is boring
D.The way that it tells stories is quite worth learning.
27.In which section of a newspaper may this text appear?
A.Education.
B.Health.
C.Entertainment.
D.Science.

When chain store Jewel opened at Singapore's Changi Airport six years ago,it changed the idea
of what an airport could be.Instead of being just a stop on the way to somewhere else,it became a
destination itself. For this reason, many airports began to think how to be local.
Many new airports try to reflect their surroundings.Their architecture may take inspiration from
local mountains,rivers,or coastlines.Yantai Penglai International Airport in China,for example,uses
soft curves(曲线)and natural materials to“echo the landscape?”around it.
San Francisco International Airport(SFO)expanded this idea to its Terminal 1."Even if you're
not going into the city, you get a snapshot of what San Francisco and the Bay Area are all about,"
says spokesperson Doug Yakel. From local food to Bay Area artwork and quiet rest areas, the terminal
offers a preview of the city's lifestyle.
Some airports go a step futher by attracting people who are not flying at all.Portland
International Airport(PDX)did this as early as the 1980s with a shopping hall. Its newest terminal,
opened in 2024,was designed to feel like "a path through the forest,"with wide views of Portland's
natural scenery.Parking data already shows a rise in visitors who come simply to look, eat,or shop.
Others hope to follow.Denver International Airport is trying to copy Changi's success.Yet its
remote location-20 miles from downtown -remains a major barrier. For now,few locals see it
as a place to visit for leisure.Whether it can be truly turned into a local destination remains an open
question.
第4页共10页
28.What inspires the design of Penglai International Airport?
A.The city images.
B.The food culture.
C.The natural scenes.
D.The public artwork.
29.What does the underlined word "snapshot"in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Preview.
B.Map.
C.Sample.
D.Postcard.
30.How does PDX attract people who are not flying?
A.By providing more free parking.
B.By introducing more new brands.
C.By offering a forest-like experience
D.By expanding the original terminal
31.What can be inferred about Denver International Airport?
A.Its construction will be started in no time.
B.Its design is lacking in local cultural elements.
C.The local people look forward to its rebuilding.
D.The distant location may reduce its appeal to locals
D
Are worms the heroes we didn't know we needed?Silent, slimy and wriggling ()you might
think that worms are good for nothing except bait on the end of a fishing rod. However, there
is more to the humble worm than meets the eye.
The British naturalist Charles Darwin said that no other animal has "played such an important
part in the history of the world as these lowly organized creatures".They have lived on Earth for 600
million years and have even survived five mass extinctions. So,what makes worms so great?
Earthworms move the earth, and this is why farmers love them.As they travel, they expose the
soil to the fresh air by loosening, mixing and oxygenating it,which increases the ground's ability to
hold and drain water. They are effectively a small but very efficient farming tool. But it's not just
earthworms that deserve praise.
In 2022,a group of scientists at the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research isolated
enzymes(酶)found in waxworm saliva(唾液).These are plastic-eating enz☒ymes,which can
decompose polyethylene,a very common plastic that normally degrades over many years. It's hoped
that by producing these enzymes on an industry-level scale,we will have a more environmentally
friendly way to reduce plastic pollution.
And worms are even inspiring the building industry.Bloodworms are small sea creatures that dig
into the mud of the ocean floor.Scientists at the University of California,Santa Barbara, have been
studying their jaws, which are made up of 10%copper proteins and are so strong that they last the
worm's entire five-year lifespan.Because of this research, engineers may start using the jaws as
inspiration for the design and manufacture of materials like concrete.
So,next time you see a worm, show it a little respect. They really are changing the world!
32.Why does the author raise a question at the beginning?
A.To discuss the limited use of worms.
B.To compare worms with other animals.
C.To emphasize the complexity of worms.
D.To challenge the prejudice against worms.
33.Why do farmers love earthworms?
A.They deserve praise.
B.They facilitate farming.
C.They decompose plastic.
D.They prevent pollution.
第5页共10页
34.How do bloodworms influence the building industry?
A.They provide a new building material.
B.They are used in construction equipment.
C.Their jaws offer ideas for building design
D.Their jaws are made from copper material
35.What is the passage mainly about?
A.The biological evolution of worms.
B.The various scientific uses of worms.
C.The environmental impacts of worms
D.The underestimated importance of worms.

The Secrets to Taking Great Notes
Taking good notes is a key part of the learning process. However, merely writing down what you
hear word-for-word is ineffective. Here are some proven strategies to transform your note-taking
One of the most popular and structured systems is the Cornell Method, developed for and widely
taught at Cornell University.36 This physical layout guides your thinking process.During class,
take notes in the main section. After class, use the cue column to write keywords or questions. Finally,
write a brief summary of the entire lesson at the bottom of the page. This multi-step process is
scientifically proven to significantly improve long-term memory retention.
For those who think in images and connections,Mind Mapping is a visual way to organize
information.Start with the main topic in the center and draw branches out for key subtopics.37
You can use colors, symbols, and arrows to make connections. This method is especially beneficial
for visual learners as it shows the relationships between concepts, making complex topics easier to
grasp.
Regardless of the method you choose, the core principle is active engagement.Don't just
passively record information.38 Engage with the material by retelling the speaker's points. This
forces you to process and understand the information on the spot.
Of course, the best method is the one that works for you.39 You might use the Cornell Method
for history lectures, which are dense with facts, but a Mind Map for brainstorming an essay topic.
You might even combine different elements from various methods to create your own personalized
system.
40 Review your notes periodically within 24 hours of taking them. This short, spaced
repetition is one of the most powerful ways to move information from your short-term to your long-
term memory, solidifying your learning and making exam preparation much less stressful.
A.Instead, focus on using simple elegant words.
B.Then, add smaller branches for specific details
C.Therefore,it is popular among university students.
D.Ultimately,it's crucial to review your notes afterward
E.This means you can retell the content in your own words
F.Experiment with different techniques to find your favorite.
G.It divides your paper into a cue column,a notes section, and a summary area.

I was incredibly proud ofmy school, the Maplewood Elementary. It connected me to my roots,
as my father and grandfather had all graduated from here.
So,when our teacher Mr.Dow announced a group project to create a brochure about our school
for its 100th anniversary,I was thrilled. The best three brochures would be displayed in the school
library, which was a chance to show the new students how wonderful our school was.
I was paired with two classmates:Jake who loved photography, and Lily who had a gift for
writing.Working with others could be fun, right? But my enthusiasm quickly faded.
Our first meeting was a disaster. When we discussed which part of the school we should focus
on,Jake kept talking about cameras and photos.I turned to Lily, hoping for some support. But she
simply shrugged (and said,"I'm not really into this.It sounds boring."Jake nodded in agreement.
The project seemed to be harder than I thought.
At our next meeting,I tied to lead the conversation back to the project.I shared some interesting
facts I had researched about the school. However, neither of them seemed interested.Jake had
promised to gather materials from the library, but instead he showed us photos taken on the weekend.
Lily hadn't started her part of the research either, claiming she had been too busy.I felt like I was the
only one who cared.
Back home,I decided to take matters into my own hands.I stayed up late that night, trying to
create the brochure by myself. But no matter how hard I tried, the result was far from satisfactory.I
was exhausted and disheartened. My mom noticed I was upset."You can't do this alone,"she gently
reminded me."Jake and Lily have talents that can make this project shine. You just need to find a
way to get them involved."

Dear judges and fellow students
I'm honored to share my ideas on Ecotourism:A Better Way to Travel.
Ecotourism has gained more popularity in recent years, which combines tourism with thoughtful
actions from the tourists on the ecosystem. This meaningful and novel way to travel not only conserves
the environment but also promotes economy, which is a win-win for both local development and the
earth.
There are many things we can do to carry out ecotourism. We can help plant trees, clear rubbish,
count or care for endangered animals,or monitor or remove harmful organisms.Without doubt,
ecotourism is a better and more sustainable way to travel. It is high time that we minded our behavior
while marveling at the beauty nature offers.
Thanks for listening!
第二节(满分25分)
One possible version:
With only three days left,I knew I had to act. After brainstorming some ideas,I invited Jake
and Lily to my house.Opening my grandfather's diary,I pointed at the faded photo of his class."Your
camera can save the moment for the future,"I told Jake, whose eyes suddenly sparkled. Then I
suggested he photograph every corner of the school like "time travelers".Meanwhile,Lily was
engaged in my grandfather's love letter, eager to bring hidden stories back to life.I was busy
organizing layouts, combining historical accuracy with creativity. The clock was ticking, but our
laughter replaced earlier frustration.
On the final day,we presented our brochure in class. We stood by the blackboard as everyone
went through the pages. They examined the brochure carefully, with their fingers tracing the photos,
narratives and timelines which connected three generations of graduates.Noticing surprise on every
face,we couldn't wait to hear Mr.Dow's announcement of the winner."This work isn't just about the
school anniversary,"he finally said, tapping the cover where our three names shone."It's about how
its spirit lives through students'cooperation."That afternoon in the library, seeing our brochure on
display,we realized our combined talents had created what none could alone.

Any good recipe needs an ingredient list, a cooking method, and if it’s particularly successful, there will be a personal touch describing how the recipe was developed through repeated tests until it was just right. It is a balance of these elements in recipes that ensures good cookbooks are the most important part of any kitchen.
Good communication is just like making a good dish. This is where The Art of Explanation: How to Communicate with Clarity and Confidence steps in. Written by journalist Ros Atkins, it is a recipe book for storytelling, made to be roughly looked through. The “ingredient list” is information required to communicate effectively. The methodology is given according to the different settings.
In this book, Atkins presents a seven-step method for giving a great explanation, from getting the main information to giving information in an easy-to-understand way. Reviewing a book of this nature is a test of how well I have understood the information in this guide. The most important parts of the method include: gathering information effectively; communicating it clearly; and achieving the delivery. But, for me, it is not this method that makes this book interesting but the “personal touch” stories, which draw on Atkins’ life, that give this book its edge.
I was most drawn to the practical examples in The Art of Explanation, because it offered a chance to know more about Atkins’ career, from starting out as a graduate to taking a new approach to explanation on a BBC’s program, Outside Source. As Atkins puts it himself, “Tell a good story, so people will pay attention to your every word.” Stories, and how they are told, are at the heart of journalism. It is no surprise that the stories told in the book are particularly attractive, such as how Atkins began his journalism career as a junior reporter in South Africa. These stories make The Art of Explanation worth reading, moving it from a textbook to something that works like a well-written cookbook.
24. Why does the author mention recipes in the first paragraph?
A. To explain what a good recipe should be like.
B. To introduce a book on effective communication.
C. To encourage readers to make dishes themselves.
D. To stress the importance of the personal touch in a book.
25. What makes The Art of Explanation interesting?
A. The ingredient list. B. The seven-step method.
C. The personal stories of Atkins. D. The way to deliver the message.
26. What does the author think of the book?
A. It should be read word for word.
B. It is written in an easy-to-understand way.
C. The method introduced in the book is boring.
D. The way that it tells stories is quite worth learning.
27. In which section of a newspaper may this text appear?
A. Education. B. Health. C. Entertainment. D. Science.
C
When chain store Jewel opened at Singapore’s Changi Airport six years ago, it changed the idea of what an airport could be. Instead of being just a stop on the way to somewhere else, it became a destination itself. For this reason, many airports began to think how to be local.
Many new airports try to reflect their surroundings. Their architecture may take inspiration from local mountains, rivers, or coastlines. Yantai Penglai International Airport in China, for example, uses soft curves (曲线) and natural materials to “echo the landscape” around it.
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) expanded this idea to its Terminal 1. “Even if you’re not going into the city, you get a snapshot of what San Francisco and the Bay Area are all about,” says spokesperson Doug Yakel. From local food to Bay Area artwork and quiet rest areas, the terminal offers a preview of the city’s lifestyle.
Some airports go a step further by attracting people who are not flying at all. Portland International Airport (PDX) did this as early as the 1980s with a shopping hall. Its newest terminal, opened in 2024, was designed to feel like “a path through the forest,” with wide views of Portland’s natural scenery. Parking data already shows a rise in visitors who come simply to look, eat, or shop.
Others hope to follow. Denver International Airport is trying to copy Changi’s success. Yet its remote location — 20 miles from downtown — remains a major barrier. For now, few locals see it as a place to visit for leisure. Whether it can be truly turned into a local destination remains an open question.
28. What inspires the design of Penglai International Airport?
A. The city images. B. The food culture.
C. The natural scenes. D. The public artwork.
29. What does the underlined word “snapshot” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Preview. B. Map. C. Sample. D. Postcard.
30. How does PDX attract people who are not flying?
A. By providing more free parking. B. By introducing more new brands.
C. By offering a forest-like experience. D. By expanding the original terminal.
31. What can be inferred about Denver International Airport?
A. Its construction will be started in no time.
B. Its design is lacking in local cultural elements.
C. The local people look forward to its rebuilding.
D. The distant location may reduce its appeal to locals.
D
Are worms the heroes we didn’t know we needed? Silent, slimy and wriggling (扭动), you might think that worms are good for nothing except bait (鱼饵) on the end of a fishing rod. However, there is more to the humble worm than meets the eye.
The British naturalist Charles Darwin said that no other animal has “played such an important part in the history of the world as these lowly organized creatures”. They have lived on Earth for 600 million years and have even survived five mass extinctions. So, what makes worms so great?
Earthworms move the earth, and this is why farmers love them. As they travel, they expose the soil to the fresh air by loosening, mixing and oxygenating it, which increases the ground’s ability to hold and drain water. They are effectively a small but very efficient farming tool. But it’s not just earthworms that deserve praise.
In 2022, a group of scientists at the Margarita Salas Center for Biological Research isolated enzymes (酶) found in waxworm saliva (唾液). These are plastic-eating enzymes, which can decompose polyethylene, a very common plastic that normally degrades over many years. It’s hoped that by producing these enzymes on an industry-level scale, we will have a more environmentally friendly way to reduce plastic pollution.
And worms are even inspiring the building industry. Bloodworms are small sea creatures that dig into the mud of the ocean floor. Scientists at the University of California, Santa Barbara, have been studying their jaws, which are made up of 10% copper proteins and are so strong that they last the worm’s entire five-year lifespan. Because of this research, engineers may start using the jaws as inspiration for the design and manufacture of materials like concrete.
So, next time you see a worm, show it a little respect. They really are changing the world!
32.Why does the author raise a question at the beginning?
A. To discuss the limited use of worms.
B. To compare worms with other animals.
C. To emphasize the complexity of worms.
D. To challenge the prejudice against worms.
33. Why do farmers love earthworms?
A. They deserve praise. B. They facilitate farming.
C. They decompose plastic. D. They prevent pollution.
34. How do bloodworms influence the building industry?
A. They provide a new building material.
B. They are used in construction equipment.
C. Their jaws offer ideas for building design.
D. Their jaws are made from copper material.
35. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The biological evolution of worms.
B. The various scientific uses of worms.
C. The environmental impacts of worms.
D. The underestimated importance of worms.

The Secrets to Taking Great Notes
Taking good notes is a key part of the learning process. However, merely writing down what you hear word-for-word is ineffective. Here are some proven strategies to transform your note-taking.
One of the most popular and structured systems is the Cornell Method, developed for and widely taught at Cornell University. 36 This physical layout guides your thinking process. During class, take notes in the main section. After class, use the cue column to write keywords or questions. Finally, write a brief summary of the entire lesson at the bottom of the page. This multi-step process is scientifically proven to significantly improve long-term memory retention.
For those who think in images and connections, Mind Mapping is a visual way to organize information. Start with the main topic in the center and draw branches out for key subtopics. 37 You can use colors, symbols, and arrows to make connections. This method is especially beneficial for visual learners as it shows the relationships between concepts, making complex topics easier to grasp.
Regardless of the method you choose, the core principle is active engagement. Don’t just passively record information. 38 Engage with the material by retelling the speaker’s points. This forces you to process and understand the information on the spot.
Of course, the best method is the one that works for you. 39 You might use the Cornell Method for history lectures, which are dense with facts, but a Mind Map for brainstorming an essay topic. You might even combine different elements from various methods to create your own personalized system.
40 Review your notes periodically within 24 hours of taking them. This short, spaced repetition is one of the most powerful ways to move information from your short-term to your long-term memory, solidifying your learning and making exam preparation much less stressful.
A. Instead, focus on using simple elegant words.
B. Then, add smaller branches for specific details.
C. Therefore, it is popular among university students.
D. Ultimately, it’s crucial to review your notes afterward.
E. This means you can retell the content in your own words.
F. Experiment with different techniques to find your favorite.
G. It divides your paper into a cue column, a notes section, and a summary area.

I was incredibly proud of my school, the Maplewood Elementary. It connected me to my roots, as my father and grandfather had all graduated from here.
So, when our teacher Mr. Dow announced a group project to create a brochure about our school for its 100th anniversary, I was thrilled. The best three brochures would be displayed in the school library, which was a chance to show the new students how wonderful our school was.
I was paired with two classmates: Jake who loved photography, and Lily who had a gift for writing. Working with others could be fun, right? But my enthusiasm quickly faded.
Our first meeting was a disaster. When we discussed which part of the school we should focus on, Jake kept talking about cameras and photos. I turned to Lily, hoping for some support. But she simply shrugged (耸肩) and said, “I’m not really into this. It sounds boring.” Jake nodded in agreement. The project seemed to be harder than I thought.
At our next meeting, I tried to lead the conversation back to the project. I shared some interesting facts I had researched about the school. However, neither of them seemed interested. Jake had promised to gather materials from the library, but instead he showed us photos taken on the weekend. Lily hadn’t started her part of the research either, claiming she had been too busy. I felt like I was the only one who cared.
Back home, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I stayed up late that night, trying to create the brochure by myself. But no matter how hard I tried, the result was far from satisfactory. I was exhausted and disheartened. My mom noticed I was upset. “You can’t do this alone,” she gently reminded me. “Jake and Lily have talents that can make this project shine. You just need to find a way to get them involved.”
