Animals hibernate (冬眠), insects stop buzzing so much and leaves have dropped from the trees. There’s a lot we can learn from the natural world by learning to take things easy. One of the reasons that animals and plants slow down is to save energy. As humans are part of the natural world, it is good for people too. “We need to rest so we can be full of energy when it’s time to be active again,” explains Rakhee Jasani. “Taking it easy helps us to notice more of what’s happening around us, like how a plant grows or how the clouds move in the sky,” she says. “When we do things slowly, we pay attention to details we might miss if we rush.” Slowing down gives you a chance to rest in between all the activities that fill your days. When you relax, your blood flows more smoothly and your body digests (消化) food more easily. Resting also calms the mind, which improves concentration, memory and emotional health. A study found that school pupils who were given 15 minutes of quiet time to read or meditate (冥想) at the start and the end of the day were happier than at the start of the study. The pupils also worked harder, paid more attention in class and got better grades. It is a great way to get more from every moment when slowing down. Next time you go for a walk, instead of rushing, try paying attention to your surroundings-listen out for birds or the sound of the wind, notice scenery and any smell in the air. Notice what difference it makes to how you think and feel. 56.How does the writer start the text? A.By asking a question. B.By telling a story. C.By using a saying. D.By explaining a fact. 57.Why do animals and plants slow down in winter? A.To prepare for spring. B.To avoid the cold. C.To save energy. D.To grow faster. 58.What does slowing down help us do according to Rakhee Jasani? A.Reduce energy levels. B.Notice more details. C.Miss important things. D.Rush through tasks. 59.What is the main idea of paragraph 3? A.The benefits of slowing down. B.The ways of slowing down. C.The study on resting the mind. Next time you go for a walk, instead of rushing, try paying attention to your surroundings-listen out for birds or the sound of the wind, notice scenery and any smell in the air.”可知,作者提出下次去散步的时候试着注意周围的环境——留心鸟儿或风声,注意风景和空气中的任何气味。注意它对你的想法和感受有什么不同。因此作者在最后一段建议我们注意我们周围的事情。故选C。 D ①Money can’t buy you happiness. Well, what if it could? Not by making it or spending it, but by giving it away. ②In an experiment in Switzerland, researchers gave each of the 50 volunteers £20 every week for four weeks. Half of the volunteers were asked to spend the money on themselves and make a note of how they spent the money. But the researchers asked the other half to spend the money on another person. ③After that, all 50 volunteers did the same task in a laboratory. They were asked to think of a person who they would like to give money to. Then they had to decide how much money, from £3 to £20, they wanted to give away. While the volunteers thought about this, the researchers studied their brain activities using an MRI machine. ④The results showed two things. First, the 25 volunteers who gave their money away during the four weeks were more generous (慷慨的) and chose to give more money away in the laboratory task. Second, those same people were much happier than the people who once spent the money on themselves. ⑤In the experiment, the volunteers were asked to give money away. But would you like to do this in your daily life? Can you really make yourself happy by giving? The answer is yes, but remember to start small. You can start by giving £1 to a homeless person. Gradually, you can try to change your habits so that you can save money to give away. For example, stop buying lunch every day and take a packed lunch to work or school. You can then save some money and give it to people in need. ⑥Learning to give money away is all about changing the way you behave. It’s about living with less and being more generous. And this will make you happy. 61.What did the researchers ask the volunteers to decide in the laboratory? A.Who needed their money most. B.How they wanted to spend their money. C.Whether they wanted to join in the experiment. D.How much money they would like to give away. 62.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 5 refer to? A.Being a volunteer. B.Changing your habits. C.Giving money away. D.Doing the experiment. 63.What’s the writer’s purpose according to the passage? A.To provide advice on how to make us happy. B.To realize the importance of giving money away. C.To show how to do the experiment if we’re unhappy. D.To explain the reasons why giving money away makes us happy. 64.What is the main idea of the passage? A.Money is not the key to happiness. B.Giving money away can bring happiness. C.Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. D.Changing spending habits is essential for a happy life. 65.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】61.D 62.C 63.A 64.B 65.B 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章通过瑞士的一项实验,探讨金钱与幸福的关系,表明给予金钱而非花费或赚取金钱能让人更幸福,并建议人们在日常生活中从小事做起学会给予。 61.细节理解题。根据“Then they had to decide how much money, from £3 to £20, they wanted to give away.”可知,研究人员让志愿者在实验室决定他们想要捐出多少钱。故选D。 62. 词句猜测题。根据“In the experiment, the volunteers were asked to give money away. It’s a harsh place where few plants can grow. Strong winds sweeping across this vast land often carry masses of sand. 66 Local people, workers, and volunteers started planting a belt of trees in 1978 to stop the sand. They carried water and fought against wind and sand daily. Planting trees in such a dry, sandy environment was difficult. 67 On November 28, 2024, the last group of trees was planted in Yutian County, marking the completion of this 46-year-long green belt project. 68 “It works like a wall against the sand, ” a local official said. It helps with farming, and farmers can grow more crops as less sand blows onto their fields. By blocking sandstorms, the trees help farmers grow more crops than before. 69 Now, more birds and small animals are appearing in the area, bringing new life to the landscape. This green belt is part of the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program (TSFP) . Over the past 46 years, China has planted 320, 000 square kilometers of trees under this program. 70 The TSFP is set to be completed by 2050. By then, the north of China will have a much better ecological environment. A.Yet they never gave up. B.The environment has also improved. C.The green belt benefits local people. D.The activities for resting the mind. 60.What does the writer suggest we do in the last paragraph? A.Focus on getting to our goal quickly. B.Think about our daily tasks. C.Pay attention to the things around us. D.Avoid looking at the scenery. D ①Money can’t buy you happiness.
