Can we improve our memory?
When it comes to learning, the ability to memorize always matters. We’ve all been there — staring at a book, hoping that we will remember all we study. Many of us have probably wondered, “Is there any way to improve memory? 1
2 They say that trying to retrieve(检索) something from your memory after you have some time to forget it will make it easier to remember in future. Similarly, studies have shown that taking some time to just do nothing after studying might mean that you can remember things better later. 3 Some experts think it has to do with the relationship between long-term and short-term memory.
Another study tip is to change between different topics as you study. 4 Connecting them to each other or to images is often considered a good way to remember something. Former world memory champion Jonathan Hancock believes that picturing pieces of information in different locations or connecting them to memorable images can make them easier to remember.
There are also other more things that we can do to improve our memory. Hancock says that being generally organized makes things easier for your brain. 5 People memorize better when they are in a more relaxing environment. So the good news to take from this is that while it may be hard, improving our memory is something we can achieve.
A. It is not clear why this happens.
B. Reviewing is a good way to improve the learning process.
C. This can help you make connections between different ideas.
D. So, why don’t we look at what memory experts say about this?
E. Many other experts also suggest that we should get a lot of rest and exercise. F. Some experts have got some interesting conclusions from their research.

Since he married and had three children to take care of, he thought he must find a new way to make a living by himself.
One day, Mi saw an artist making clay pieces in the street. He fell in love and decided to learn it. Then he asked the artist to teach him how to make those things. Seeing Mi didn’t have hands, the artist didn’t accept his request at first. But Mi kept on asking many times. The artist was touched by his resolution and finally decided to teach him.

Could you imagine being in a car driven by a computer, not a human? Recently, China has made a big step toward self-driving technology. Since August 2024, driver-less taxis could run on roads in Wuhan, Chongqing and Shenzhen.
Why do we develop self-driving cars? Self-driving cars have many advantages. They use computers with many cameras which can sense all the objects close to the car and give the computers another route( 路线). Then the car can take people to the places where they want to go. For disabled or blind people, self-driving cars can also help them get around more easily.
According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than 1.35 million people are killed on roads around the world. It’s reported that self-driving cars could reduce( 减 少 ) road accidents by 90 percent. The main cause of car accidents is human mistakes. By using computers, self-driving cars don’t make poor decisions or lose attention like humans do.
However, . If something unexpected on the road
happens, self-driving cars can’t react( 反 应 ) as fast as a human driver can. Also, during weather events like heavy snow, self-driving cars wouldn’t see the lines on the road easily. It might lead to an accident. The car’s computer system would be broken by someone, causing it to crash or change its direction.
It’s clear that there is a lot of work to do to make self-driving cars a common and safe sight on our roads. And China is taking the lead in making this happen.
6. Where can we see driver-less taxis since last year?
7. What can self-driving cars do for the disabled people?
8. Compared with human-driving, how do the self-driving cars help reduce car
accidents?
9. What sentence can we write down on the line in Paragraph 4?
10. What does the writer think of the future of self-driving cars?
