Gallagher finally had more time for herself. She put away her kids’ toys in a large box, because there were no other kids in the family playing with them anymore. Christmas was drawing near. Gallagher had the idea to visit some nursing homes for Christmas. She called two places, asking if she could come and read Christmas stories to the seniors living there. They gladly welcomed her. And she didn’t arrive alone. She gathered up all the stuffed toys (毛绒玩具) that she had bought for her kids over the years, and then prepared to bring them with her to one of the nursing homes. Arriving there, she handed them out to the seniors so that they could hold on to the soft friends while listening to the classic stories. The seniors were happy with the toys in their hands. Gallagher realized it was such a good idea to bring the toys here. When Gallagher went to gather the toys so that she could go to the next nursing home with them, no one wanted to give up their stuffed toys. They really didn’t want to give them back. The toys had brought such joy that Gallagher decided to make this her Christmas tradition. She posted online, asking for more stuffed toys no longer needed. Local schools started holding toy drives, and finally she received about 250 a week during the holiday season. Toys arrived non-stop. In her first two years of collecting, Gallagher gathered more than 11,000 toys. Gallagher takes the collected toys not just to senior nursing homes, but also to homes for elderly veterans (老兵). “Who would think that elderly veterans would want stuffed toys?” she says. “But they did. The toys took them back to when they were kids. Not only did they bring comfort, but they were conversation starters.” 4. What did Gallagher do with her kids’ toys after they left home? They preferred stories to toys. B. They were used to collecting toys. C. They were ready to share toys with other seniors. D. Their feelings formed a connection with the toys. 6. Why did Gallagher start to collect stuffed toys from the public? A. Her own toys were not enough for the seniors. B. Local schools required her to organize toy drives. C. She planned to start a business selling stuffed toys. D. The nursing homes asked her to provide more toys. 7. Why did elderly veterans like receiving stuffed toys? A. To perfect their speaking skills. B. To comfort their grandchildren. C. To enjoy memories of childhood. D. To remember their lives in the army. C 5. D 6. A 7. 根据第一段中“She put away her kids’ toys in a large box, because there were no other kids in the family playing with them anymore. (她把孩子们的玩具放进一个大盒子里,因为家里没有其他孩子再玩这些玩具了)”可知,Gallagher把孩子们的玩具放进了一个大盒子里。故选C项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“The seniors were happy with the toys in their hands. Gallagher realized it was such a good idea to bring the toys here. When Gallagher went to gather the toys so that she could go to the next nursing home with them, no one wanted to give up their stuffed toys. They really didn’t want to give them back. She posted online, asking for more stuffed toys no longer needed. Local schools started holding toy drives, and finally she received about 250 a week during the holiday season. (玩具带来了如此多的欢乐,加拉格尔决定将此作为她的圣诞传统。她在网上发帖,索要更多不再需要的毛绒玩具。当地学校开始举办玩具捐赠活动,最后在节日期间她每周能收到大约250个玩具)”可知,Gallagher开始向公众收集毛绒玩具。由此推知,她自己的玩具已经不够送给养老院的老人。故选A项。 根据最后一段中““Who would think that elderly veterans would want stuffed toys?” she says. “But they did. The toys took them back to when they were kids. (“谁会想到退伍老兵会想要毛绒玩具呢?”她说。“但他们确实想要。这些玩具让他们回到了童年时代)”可知,老兵们喜欢毛绒玩具是因为这些玩具能让他们回忆起童年的时光。故选C项。 C In the late afternoon, a drone (无人机) lifted gently into the sky. On its screen, elephants moved into sight, while a train could be seen far away traveling along the China-Laos Railway. It was another work day to watch the large species (物种) for Peng Jinfu, a wild elephant monitor (监督员) in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. Wild Asian elephants are a flagship species in China’s rainforests. They receive top-level national monitoring and protection and are recognized as “endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Thanks to strengthened protection efforts, their population in Yunnan — their primary living areas in China — has grown from 140 in 1976 to over 300 today. Elephant monitors play a key role in improving the relationship between humans and wildlife. “They track elephant movements, not only warning villagers of likely danger areas but also providing valuable information for scientific research,” explained Zhou Chenhao, director of the Xishuangbanna Asian Elephant Protection and Management Center. Peng spends his days tracking elephant activities, mapping safe travel areas for people, and creating warning videos shared on the Internet. “I used to track them on foot, but thick forests often prevented me from seeing elephants,” he recalled. “Now, drones allow me to watch many groups at the same time.” Xishuangbanna has put many smart monitoring tools into use. Thanks to them, since 2022, over 35,000 warnings have been sent across the area, preventing more than 700 possible human-elephant conflicts. These technologies help scientific research too. X-ray cameras help us to study elephants’ movement areas and behavior, while drones provide information on moving paths. Protection efforts have developed from saving single animals to protecting the whole ecosystems, with cross-country protected areas between China and Laos enlarging habitat spaces. As researcher Chen Fei noted, “We’ve turned from saving elephants to protecting more species in the future.” This mixture of technology and environmental wisdom is creating a new stage of co-living between humans and wildlife. 8. What does the underlined part “a flagship species” in Paragraph 2 probably refer to? A. A species of the largest size. B. A species only found in China. C. A species most monitored and protected. D. A species used for scientific experiments. 9. What is a role of elephant monitors? A. Designing smart monitoring tools. B. Telling people the possible danger. C. Training elephants for performances. D. Carrying out scientific research alone. 10. What can be inferred about the future of wildlife protection? A. Drones will be the only tool used. B. Human-elephant conflicts will increase. C. Protection efforts will focus on more species. D. Traditional methods will remain the most effective. 11. What is the text mainly about? A. How humans relate to animals. B. The daily work of elephant monitors. C. The history of elephant protection in China. D. How technologies help protect Asian elephants. 【答案】8. C 9. B 10. C 11. D 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了无人机等科技手段如何助力亚洲象的保护工作,以及这些努力对人类与野生动物共存关系的积极影响。 【8题详解】 词句猜测题。根据划线词下文“They receive top-level national monitoring and protection and are recognized as “endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. (它们受到国家最高级别的监测和保护,并被国际自然保护联盟认定为“濒危物种”)”可知,野生亚洲象受到国家最高级别的监测和保护。由此推知,它们是“重点监测和保护的物种”,“a flagship species”与C项“A species most monitored and protected.”意思一致。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“They track elephant movements, not only warning villagers of likely danger areas but also providing valuable information for scientific research (他们追踪大象的动向,不仅警告村民可能的危险区域,还为科学研究提供有价值的信息)”可知,大象监测员的一个职责是告知人们可能的危险。故选B项。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“We’ve turned from saving elephants to protecting more species in the future. (我们已经从拯救大象转向未来保护更多的物种)”可推知,未来的野生动物保护工作将更加关注更多物种的保护。故选C项。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中“In the late afternoon, a drone (无人机) lifted gently into the sky. On its screen, elephants moved into sight, while a train could be seen far away traveling along the China-Laos Railway. It was another work day to watch the large species (物种) for Peng Jinfu, a wild elephant monitor (监督员) in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.(傍晚时分,一架无人机缓缓升空。屏幕上,大象的身影逐渐显现,远处一列火车正沿着中老铁路行驶。对于西双版纳傣族自治州的野生亚洲象监测员彭金福来说,这又是一个监测这一大型物种的工作日)”和第五段中“Xishuangbanna has put many smart monitoring tools into use. Thanks to them, since 2022, over 35,000 warnings have been sent across the area, preventing more than 700 possible human-elephant conflicts. These technologies help scientific research too. (西双版纳已经投入使用了许多智能监测工具。多亏了它们,自2022年以来,该地区已经发出了超过35000次警告,防止了700多起可能的人象冲突。这些技术也有助于科学研究)”可知,文章主要讲述了科技手段,如无人机和智能监测工具,在保护亚洲象方面的应用和作用。故选D项。 D A lunch break is an important part of the day. It’s a chance to regain energy by eating and maybe chatting with some friends. Since life is becoming busier, many people choose to buy lunch instead of bringing lunch from home. But this practice is not just costing money, there might be a cost in terms of damaging our planet too. Just a sandwich, and maybe a cake and coffee can produce at least three items of waste. Besides, the leftover food people throw away, which produces methane (甲烷) over time, is a bigger cause of climate change than plastics No matter what causes the most damage, one solution is to eat packed lunches. It’s usually healthier and cheaper. It means you can eat the things you really want and make the quantity that you actually need. Of course, preparing your lunch is something to fit into your morning rush of getting ready for work, so if you haven’t got time and have to buy lunch, you’re advised to take your own container to a shop and ask them to put your food in it. The idea of using reusable coffee cups which can hold hot drinks has already proved successful. So, this could be another step in the right direction. A trial in East Anglia showed that offering a 10% price reduction did encourage some customers to come prepared with their own lunch box. The problem with eating on the move is that you might want to carry your food in something that is one-off, so it’s a good idea to make sure it’s something that is recyclable (可再循环的). I think if we give our lunch eating habits some deeper thought, we can all do our bit in helping reduce climate change and damage to our environment. That is something worth taking seriously. 12. Why do many people buy lunch rather than bring it from home? A. It is more time-saving. B. It offers more delicious food. C. It is more environmentally friendly. D. It allows for more social connection. 13. What is the main reason for taking your own container when buying lunch? A. To keep the food hotter. B. To cut down on pollution. C. To avoid paying extra money. D. To get a larger quantity of food. 14. What can we know from the East Anglia trial? A. Reusable things were not popular. B. Most customers preferred packed food. C. Shops were unwilling to reduce prices. D Encouragement with money was effective. 15. What is the author’s attitude towards the idea of reconsidering lunch habits? A. Doubtful. B. Uncaring. C. Supportive. D. Negative. 【答案】12. A 13. B 14. D 15. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了购买午餐与自带午餐对环境的影响,并提出了减少污染、保护环境的建议,包括自带午餐盒、使用可重复使用的咖啡杯等。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Since life is becoming busier, many people choose to buy lunch instead of bringing lunch from home. (由于生活越来越忙碌,许多人选择购买午餐而不是从家里带午餐)”可知,由于生活忙碌,人们选择购买午餐是为了节省时间。故选A项。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“if you haven’t got time and have to buy lunch, you’re advised to take your own container to a shop and ask them to put your food in it. (如果你没有时间,必须买午餐,建议你带上自己的容器去商店,让他们把食物放进去)”和“The problem with eating on the move is that you might want to carry your food in something that is one-off, so it’s a good idea to make sure it’s something that is recyclable (可再循环的). (移动用餐的问题在于,你可能需要用一次性容器携带食物,所以最好确保所使用的容器是可回收的)”可推知,建议自带容器的目的是为了减少一次性容器的浪费,从而减少污染。故选B项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“A trial in East Anglia showed that offering a 10% price reduction did encourage some customers to come prepared with their own lunch box. (东安格利亚的一项试验表明,提供10%的降价确实鼓励了一些顾客自带午餐盒)”可知,金钱上的鼓励是有效的。故选D项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“I think if we give our lunch eating habits some deeper thought, we can all do our bit in helping reduce climate change and damage to our environment. That is something worth taking seriously. (我认为,如果我们更深入地思考我们的午餐习惯,我们都可以为减少气候变化和环境破坏尽一份力。这是值得认真对待的事情)”可知,作者认为重新审视午餐习惯是值得认真对待的、有积极意义的事情,这体现了他支持的态度。故选C项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 According to a global happiness study, there has been a drop in people’s sense of happiness. The following are some suggestions for spiritual health and well-being. First, please be kind to yourself. ____16____ Please treat yourself with kindness as you overcome these challenges because it makes the journey more bearable. Studies with college students show that self-love is related to lower levels of mental illness and higher well-being in general. Keep the hope alive. Whatever you are going through, there is almost always hope. Many hardships improve with time or problem-solving. ____17____ Some situations may seem almost entirely hopeless, but it has proved that countless people change something bad into something active and meaningful. ____18____ If you have not heard from a friend for a while, give them a call. In return, you’ll get happiness from helping others. Consider forgiveness. In our lives, many do wrong to us. Sometimes, it is a stranger. ____19____ I encourage forgiveness for the benefit of yourself. Life is too short to carry the weight of being angry. Besides, you don’t need to allow them back into your life to free yourself from the pain they caused. See the joy The world is a beautiful place and has many wonders. You need to create a culture of joy and thankfulness for the many lucky things around you. This helps you to focus more on the positive parts of your experience than the negative ones. ____20____ A. Reach out to others. B. It is protective for feelings. C. But it can also be someone near us. D. So remember to keep an eye on the future. E. They are trying to have spiritual control over you. F. Most people are likely to struggle with regret, sadness, or pain. G. Small changes can make a difference to your own life and happiness. 【答案】16. F 17. D 18. A 19. C 20. B 【解析】 【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了几个使人精神愉悦的方法。 【16题详解】 根据下文“Please treat yourself with kindness as you overcome these challenges because it makes the journey more bearable. (在克服这些挑战时,请善待自己,因为这会让旅程更容易忍受)”可知,此处应该指出一些令人不愉快的精神上的挑战。所以F项“Most people are likely to struggle with regret, sadness, or pain. (大多数人可能都在与遗憾、悲伤或痛苦作斗争)”符合题意。故选F项。 【17题详解】 根据上文“Keep the hope alive. Whatever you are going through, there is almost always hope. Many hardships improve with time or problem-solving. (保持希望不灭。无论你正在经历什么,几乎总是有希望的。许多困难会随着时间的推移或问题的解决而改善)”可知,此处顺承上句,讲述要积极面对未来。所以D项“So remember to keep an eye on the future. (所以记住要着眼于未来)”符合题意。故选D项。 【18题详解】 此处为段落主题句。根据下文“If you have not heard from a friend for a while, give them a call. (如果你有段时间没收到朋友的消息了,那就给他们打个电话吧)”可知,描述的是主动联系很久没见的朋友这种行为。A项“Reach out to others. (主动联系他人)”是对这一行为的概括,统领全段,符合题意。故选A项。 【19题详解】 根据上文“In our lives, many do wrong to us. Sometimes, it is a stranger. (在我们的生活中,许多人对我们做了错事。有时,这是一个陌生人)”可知,此处应该指出另外一些伤害我们的人,所以C项“But it can also be someone near us. (但也可能是我们身边的人)”符合语境。故选C项。 【20题详解】 本段首句指出“See the joy. (看到快乐)”,所以本段从保持乐观情绪的角度说明主题。上文提到“You need to create a culture of joy and thankfulness for the many lucky things around you. This helps you to focus more on the positive parts of your experience than the negative ones. (你需要为你周围的许多幸运的事情创造一种快乐和感恩的文化。这有助于你更多地关注你经历的积极方面,而不是消极方面)”由此可知,空格处应该是这种做法的好处。所以B项“It is protective for feelings. (它是对感情的保护)”符合语境。故选B项。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Lena had always been afraid of heights. John, a middle-aged designer, his wife Lisa, a teacher, and their two children, Emily and Jake, were expecting to go on the scenic roads of the Pacific Northwest. They packed their car, eager to explore the unknown world and create lasting memories. “The open road is waiting for us!” John said as they set off on a sunny morning. Emily, 12, focused on her camera, while Jake, 10, enjoyed himself with a travel board game. Lisa, sitting beside John, played their favorite road trip music, singing along with her husband. Everything seemed perfect. However, their adventure took a turn in the afternoon. As they drove through a mountain pass, a sudden storm rolled in. Heavy rain and strong winds made the road hard, and they could hardly see the road. Worse still, their car’s engine died. Stuck in the heavy rain, the family watched helplessly as their car refused to restart. “We can’t move,” Lisa said, her voice filled with worry. Emily hugged her camera close, and Jake looked scared. John tried to stay calm, checking the phone for signal, but there was none. Hours passed, and it was cold in the car. Lisa kept the children warm with blankets. “We’ll be okay,” John said, though his own anxiety grew. Just as hope seemed to disappear, a soft light appeared in the distance. An old pickup truck slowly got close, its headlights cutting through the rain. A middle-aged man got off the truck, wearing a raincoat and a kind smile. “Need a hand?” he asked, offering help with kindness. His name was Mr. Carter, a local farmer who lived nearby. He quickly checked the situation, saying he could pull their car to his farmhouse to protect them from the rain. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Thankfully, the family accepted. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After waving good-bye, the family drove away. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Thankfully, the family accepted. Thanks to Mr. Carter’s help, the family managed to get to Mr. Carter’s farmhouse. It was comfortable, with a warm fireplace and homemade cookies waiting. Mr. Carter shared stories of his own adventures, easing the family’s tension. The next morning, the rain stopped. Mr. Carter arranged for a repairman to fix the car. As the family prepared to leave, Lisa said to Mr. Carter, “Thank you for being our guardian angel.” Mr. Carter smiled, “Helping others is what makes life rich.” After waving good-bye, the family drove away. They watched the farmhouse getting farther and farther behind, warmth filling their hearts. They went on with their journey ahead, singing songs happily. The road ahead seemed brighter, and Emily took pictures of the sun breaking through the clouds. The Wilsons knew this experience would be remembered not just for the sights, but for the warmth of a stranger’s heart. They realized the trip had taught them more than planned — it showed the power of kindness in unexpected moments. 词汇激活: 行类 ①维修:fix/repair  ②展示:show/exhibit/demonstrate ③记住:remember/memorize/keep in mind 情绪类 ①紧张:tension/stress ②快乐地:happily/joyously 【点睛】[高分句型1] Mr. Carter shared stories of his own adventures, easing the family’s tension.(运用了现在分词easing作伴随状语) [高分句型2] They realized the trip had taught them more than planned — it showed the power of kindness in unexpected moments.(运用了省略连词that的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 山西省2025-2026学年高一选科调研检测 英语试题 (考试时间120分钟,满分150分) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? She posted online asking for more stuffed toys no longer needed. A. To perfect their speaking skills. B. To comfort their grandchildren. C. To enjoy memories of childhood. D. To remember their lives in the army. C In the late afternoon, a drone (无人机) lifted gently into the sky. B A species only found in China. D A lunch break is an important part of the day. C. Just as hope seemed to disappear a soft light appeared in the distance. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
