Analysis of the Teaching Material:
This lesson is Unit 3 Lesson 1 The Sixth Extinction from Optional Compulsory Course 1 at high School English, published by Beijing Normal University. This Lesson mainly introduces the causes and impacts of the sixth extinction from the perspective of species extinction, and enables students to understand the seriousness of this problem,and cultivate their environmental awareness and focus on the protection of biodiversity.
Analysis of the Students:
The teaching object is the freshman at high school. Their cognitive abilities have improved over junior high school, but their English base is poor. Therefore, students' acceptance and understanding ability should be taken into account in the teaching process. At the same time, students may have a certain understanding of environmental issues and biodiversity conservation, but the specific causes of species extinction and solutions may not be too clear.So I pay special attention to the way they learn English and the effectiveness of their classes. In addition to the reading skills required by the College Entrance Examination, this lesson also aims to cultivate their environmental awareness and focus on the protection of biodiversity.
