To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The story centers on Jean Louise Finch, an unusually intelligent girl who ages from six to nine years old during the novel. Her father, Atticus Finch, a well-known and respected lawyer, defends Tom Robinson, an African American who is falsely accused of killing a young white woman. It is both a young girl’s coming-of-age story and a darker drama about the roots and consequences of racism and prejudice in society. 1. An animal science book. C. A biology textbook. D. An animal book for kids. 3. What subject may the book To Kill a Mockingbird explore? A. Family conflicts. B. Career design. C. Legal systems. D. Over more than fifty years, Hearn has raised 56 dogs to help visually impaired (视力受损的) people. But her influence doesn’t end there — the high school teacher has encouraged several of her family members and some of her students to train many more. When she looked to her parents for support years ago, things were different from what she expected. Her mom didn’t like dogs, and her dad doubted she would be able to find any money to pay for the cost of the training. However, Hearn presented the project at a Lions Club and raised $2,500. So on a sunny summer day in 1962, the family drove home with a black Lab named Letta, the first of a long series of dog trainees. Two sons and a granddaughter have followed in Hearn’s footsteps, but her greatest influence has come from guiding student trainers, who since 1992 have worked through a school club with 170 dogs that ended up in different service posts. They spend 14 months with each dog teaching them skills. The dogs live full-time with the students, attending their classes and field trips to become socialized. The dogs then go to trainers employed by Guide Dogs for the Blind, an organization that partners with the program, before graduating and being paired with visually-challenged. Those that aren’t up to the difficult task of helping the blind can become other kinds of service animals. Often students attend the graduations and help pass the dogs on. “I love seeing the look on kids’ faces…when they get to see that dog again after three or four months and the dog remembers them,” Hearn said. “It’s a great feeling.” 4. What has Hearn done since she was a child? A. She has collected money for the blind. B She has trained dogs to help the blind. C. She has petted and cared for many homeless dogs. D. She has provided the blind with education for free. 5. What was the attitude of Hearn’s dad towards her plan? A Mad. B. Uncaring. C. Doubtful D. Supportive. 6. If a dog fails to help the blind after graduation it will ______. A. continue to be trained B. be taken away as a pet C. live full-time with Hearn’s students D. become another kind of service animal 7. Which of the following can best describe Hearn? A. Strong minded and caring. B. Hard-working and honest. C. Outgoing and careful. D. Strict and creative. C It’s well-known that humor can benefit us both physically and mentally. The idea that laughter is the best medicine has been around since ancient times. In his 1905 book, Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious, Sigmund Freud argued that humor is the highest of the psyche’s defense mechanism (机制), capable of turning anxiety into pleasure. There are four humor styles. Affiliative humor refers to jokes about things that might be commonly considered funny, which is usually employed to improve relationships or make others laugh. If you’ve ever shared a funny picture with a coworker, you’ve used affiliative humor. Self-enhancing humor involves being able to laugh at yourself, often used as a way for you to deal with stress or difficulties and feel better as a result. Aggressive humor is laughing at the expense of others, which often involves sarcasm (讽刺), teasing, and criticism. Self-defeating humor is the art of putting yourself down to gain favor from your peers, which is possibly used by someone who’s targeted by bullies. Each style of humor actually carries a different influence, when it comes to mental health. Julie Aitken Schermer, a psychological researcher at The University of Western Ontario, says people using self-enhancing humor are less likely to show signs of loneliness and poor relationships with others. By contrast, both aggressive and self-defeating humor styles can hint at trouble. “We find that self-defeating humor is the most concerning style as it is also linked with loneliness and feelings of not mattering. Those with an aggressive humor style may not experience loneliness as much, however, since they rely on group dynamics (群体动力) in order to make fun of their peers,” says Schermer. Even if you tend to favor more negative humor styles, there’s no reason to lose heart. Schermer says people can develop a positive, self-enhancing humor style by concentrating on the lighter and more humorous aspects of life. As author Kurt Vonnegut once wrote, “Laughter and tears are both responses to worries and anxieties. I prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.” 8. Why is Sigmund Freud’s book mentioned in Paragraph 1? A. To show the importance of mental health. B. To stress the role of humor. C. To persuade people to stay positive. D. To introduce ancient jokes to us. 9. According to the text, which kind of humor may you use to relieve pressure? A. Affiliative humor. B. Self-enhancing humor. C. Aggressive humor. D. Self-defeating humor. 10. What does the underlined phrase “hint at” probably mean in the third paragraph? A Signal. B. Explain. C. Prevent. D. Solve. 11. Which of the following will Kurt Vonnegut probably agree with? A. Humor is difficult to control. B. Crying is a good way of relief. C. Humor is a double-edged sword. D. Laughter is the best cure for stress. D The world has been changing very quickly since the introduction of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Generative AI now helps write stories, create art and answer questions, and it can even copy people’s voices. It’s being used in schools, offices, music and movies. Even the Oscars (奥斯卡奖) are changing because of AI. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has updated its rules, saying films that use AI are now allowed to win awards. So even if a movie uses AI to help with writing, editing or voices, it can still win Hollywood’s biggest prize. The Academy explained that using AI will not help or hurt a film’s chances of getting nominated (被提名), although human creativity and input are still the things that matter most. “AI is just a tool,” said Academy president David Rubin. “What truly makes a film great is the human story behind it.” The use of AI in film became a talking point after this year’s Oscars when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist. In the film, both Brody and his co-star Felicity Jones had to speak Hungarian (匈牙利语), a very difficult language to pronounce. According to the film’s editor David Jancso, AI was used to perfect their speech. “They did a wonderful job, but we also wanted to perfect it so that even locals will not notice any difference.” Another Oscar-winning film, the musical Emilia Perez, used AI to improve the singing of the actors. The use of AI is becoming more common in the film and music industries. But not everyone is happy about it. During the 2023 Hollywood strikes, many actors and writers spoke out about AI, saying they were worried it could take away their jobs. Some worried that studios might use it to write scripts instead of hiring real writers, and others feared their voices or faces could be copied by AI without their permission. Industry experts suggest that while AI can assist in production, it cannot replace human creativity and emotional depth that audiences connect with. 12. What does the Academy say about AI in films? A. All films must use AI. B. AI films cannot win Oscars. C. AI is more important than humans. D. AI doesn’t change a film’s chance to win. 13. How does the passage show the impact of AI on the film industry? A. By presenting the history of AI. B. By focusing on technical details. C. By giving examples of AI in films. D. By comparing AI with traditional methods. 14. Why were some Hollywood workers unhappy about AI? A. It completely changed Oscar rules. B. It might make them lose their jobs. C. It made their voices sound strange. D. It made movies win too many awards. 15. What is the best title for the passage? A. AI in Hollywood: Good & Bad B. AI in the Oscars: Rules & Impact C. AI in Film-making: Future & Possibilities D. AI in the Film Industry: Creativity & Success Growing plants is often seen as a very “green” thing to do, but like many products, they take a huge amount of energy to produce. ____16____ For example, they use geothermal (地热的) energy to heat greenhouses and solar power to supply electricity and lighting. While home growing doesn’t involve the same carbon footprint as commercial growing, it’s important to consider what we can all do to minimize our own impact while still enjoying growing plants. Over-consumption of plants is a big issue. It’s so easy to get overexcited when you see all these incredible plants, and you can end up carrying home huge numbers of them. ____17____ The more plants you have, the more limited your time and resources become, and plants can suffer. This leads to another issue — many people may end up throwing away their plants which don’t look perfect or stop flowering, in a similar way to the world of fast fashion. ____18____ If you are ready and able to increase your collection, propagate (繁殖) from your own plants rather than buying more, and share plants with others. ____19____ Meanwhile, we can build a community of like-minded, passionate plant people. Recycling takes a huge amount of input, which can end up more damaging to the environment, so instead of buying something of lower quality that needs replacing every year, buy fewer things of a higher quality. ____20____ And they can be passed down the generations. A. But large collections call for an enormous amount of work. B. Many commercial growers continue to market their produce. C. These will last many years and be more cost-effective in the long term. D. This removes the need to buy plants and encourages a sharing culture. E. Throwing them away will greatly reduce your gardening footprint on the environment. F. So it’s important to assess your collection and buy plants you have time to look after. G. Many large-scale growers have used technology to minimize their impact on the environment. As my husband and I saw someone publicizing the benefits of spending time outdoors, we were lost in thought. Colorful banners waved in the breeze as families set up picnic blankets and children painted their faces. This year, the focus was on two athletes: Sarah, a devoted runner, and Jake, a relaxed natural talent. For months, Sarah woke up early, putting on her well-worn running shoes as the sun rose. She pushed herself through tough workouts, running up the challenging hills nearby. She dreamed of crossing the finish line, not for herself, but to inspire young runners at the local youth center who looked up to her. On the other hand, Jake had a natural talent for running. With messy hair and a friendly smile, he was the life of every event. He often took selfies during his runs, sharing laughs and jokes along the way. Though he was a strong competitor, he care more about having fun than strict training, enjoying the excitement of the moment. As race day approached, Sarah felt the weight of expectations. The gold medal shone in her mind as a symbol of hope, but she worried that Jake, with his natural abilities, would be a tough competitor. On race day, Riverton was full of energy. The crowd’s cheers felt like a heartbeat, and the smells of popcorn (爆米花) and baked goods filled the air. Sarah lined up at the front of the starting line, her heart racing with the countdown, while Jake chatted with friends, enjoying himself in the lively atmosphere behind her. When the starting gun fired, Sarah dashed ahead with great determination, her every step a proof to her months of strict training. Meanwhile, Jake started the race in a relaxed manner, taking in the lively crowd and the colorful banners swaying (摇摆) in the wind. The race went just as expected—Sarah was in the lead. But as they reached the middle of the course, dark clouds gathered in the sky. Suddenly, heavy rain poured down, making the road very slippery (湿滑的). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Jake, who had been following behind, caught sight of Sarah as she struggled to rise. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 凤冈县2025-2026学年高二上学期期中考试 英语试卷 (满分:150分 时间:120分钟) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 1. Social issues. C 2. A 3. Number the Stars by Lois中“Lois’ novel is a powerful reminder that cultural and religious differences are no divide between true friends. (Lois的小说有力地提醒我们,文化和宗教的差异并不能区分真正的朋友)”和The Little Prince by Antoine中“The Little Prince is a heartwarming tale of the power of friendship and trust. (《小王子》是一个关于友谊和信任的力量的暖心故事)”可知,《数星星》和《小王子》都涉及了友谊。故选C项。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White中“Who doesn’t love a novel about talking animals? It opens the door to imagination, asking us to imagine what a world where animals could talk would be like. (谁不喜欢会说话的动物的小说呢?它打开了想象的大门,让我们想象一个动物会说话的世界会是什么样子的)”可知,小说《夏洛的网》用想象力描绘了一个动物会说话的世界,因此是一本童话故事书。故选A项。 To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee中“It is both a young girl’s coming-of-age story and a darker drama about the roots and consequences of racism and prejudice in society. (这既是一个小女孩的成长故事,也是一部关于社会中种族主义和偏见的根源和后果的黑暗戏剧)”可知,《杀死一只知更鸟》揭示了社会中种族主义和偏见的根源和后果,因此它探究的主题是社会问题。故选D项。 B When Marybeth Hearn was 10 years old, she asked her parents to let her train a dog to become a guide dog. B. She has trained dogs to help the blind. C. She has petted and cared for many homeless dogs. D. She has provided the blind with education for free. 5. What was the attitude of Hearn’s dad towards her plan? A. Mad. B. Uncaring. C. Doubtful D. Supportive. 6. If a dog fails to help the blind after graduation, it will ______. A. continue to be trained B. be taken away as a pet C. live full-time with Hearn’s students D. become another kind of service animal 7. Which of the following can best describe Hearn? A. Strong minded and caring. B. Hard-working and honest. C. Outgoing and careful. D. Strict and creative. 4. B 5. C 6. D 7. I prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.” 8 Why is Sigmund Freud’s book mentioned in Paragraph 1? A. To show the importance of mental health. B. To stress the role of humor. C. To persuade people to stay positive. D. To introduce ancient jokes to us. 9. According to the text which kind of humor may you use to relieve pressure? A. Affiliative humor. B. Self-enhancing humor. C. Aggressive humor. D. Self-defeating humor. 10. What does the underlined phrase “hint at” probably mean in the third paragraph? A. Signal. B. Explain. C. Prevent. D. Solve. 11. Which of the following will Kurt Vonnegut probably agree with? A. Humor is difficult to control. B. Crying is a good way of relief. C. Humor is a double-edged sword. D. Laughter is the best cure for stress. 【答案】8 B 9. B 10. A 11. 文章通过一本书——Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious,介绍了四种不同的幽默类型。 根据第一段“It’s well-known that humor can benefit us both physically and mentally. The idea that laughter is the best medicine has been around since ancient times. In his 1905 book, Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious, Sigmund Freud argued that humor is the highest of the psyche’s defense mechanism (机制), capable of turning anxiety into pleasure.(众所周知,幽默对我们的身心都有好处。笑是最好的良药这一观点自古以来就存在。西格蒙德·弗洛伊德在他1905年出版的《笑话及其与无意识的关系》一书中认为,幽默是心灵的最高防御机制,能够将焦虑转化为快乐)”可知,第一段提到这本书是为了强调幽默的作用。故选B。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Self-enhancing humor involves being able to laugh at yourself, often used as a way for you to deal with stress or difficulties and feel better as a result.(自我提升的幽默包括能够自嘲,通常是你处理压力或困难的一种方式,结果感觉更好)”可知,用于缓解压力的是自我提升式幽默,故选B。 根据划线词上文“Julie Aitken Schermer, a psychological researcher at The University of Western Ontario, says people using self-enhancing humor are less likely to show signs of loneliness and poor relationships with others.(西安大略大学的心理学研究员Julie Aitken Schermer说,使用自我提升式幽默的人不太可能表现出孤独和与他人关系不佳的迹象)”以及“By contrast, both aggressive and self-defeating humor styles”可知,使用自我提升式幽默的人不太可能表现出孤独和与他人关系不好的迹象。 故选A。 根据第四段“Laughter and tears are both responses to worries and anxieties. I prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.(笑和哭都是对担心和焦虑的反应。我更喜欢笑,因为笑完之后要做的清理工作少了)”可知,Kurt Vonnegut更喜欢笑,可得出他可能同意“笑是治疗压力的最好方法”这一观点。故选D。 D The world has been changing very quickly since the introduction of generative artificial intelligence (AI). “What truly makes a film great is the human story behind it.” The use of AI in film became a talking point after this year’s Oscars, when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his work in The Brutalist. AI in the Film Industry: Creativity & Success 【答案】12. D 13. C 14. B 15. 根据第二段“The Academy explained that using AI will not help or hurt a film’s chances of getting nominated (被提名), although human creativity and input are still the things that matter most. According to the film’s editor David Jancso, AI was used to perfect their speech. “They did a wonderful job, but we also wanted to perfect it so that even locals will not notice any difference.” Another Oscar-winning film, the musical Emilia Perez, used AI to improve the singing of the actors. 根据第四段“During the 2023 Hollywood strikes, many actors and writers spoke out about AI, saying they were worried it could take away their jobs. (在2023年的好莱坞罢工期间,许多演员和编剧公开谈论人工智能,称他们担心人工智能会夺走他们的工作。)”可知,一些好莱坞从业者对AI不满是因为他们担心AI可能会让自己失业。故选B项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“The world has been changing very quickly since the introduction of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Generative AI now helps write stories, create art and answer questions, and it can even copy people’s voices. Growing plants is often seen as a very “green” thing to do, but like many products, they take a huge amount of energy to produce. 16. G 17. A 18. F 19. D 20. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Suddenly, heavy rain poured down, making the road very slippery. Sarah thought she would win the race because she had trained so hard. Although the road was slippery, Sarah kept accelerating. Meanwhile, she kept looking back at Jake. But Jake still didn’t look so serious, as if he was enjoying the scenery. Suddenly, Sarah slipped and fell to the ground. But Sarah knew she had to get back on her feet as soon as possible. She struggled to get up. Jake, who had been following behind, caught sight of Sarah as she struggled to rise. Suddenly Jake picked up speed. Sarah was desperate and thought that she was going to lose the race. When Jake got to Sarah’s side, he stopped and came to her help. Looking at Jake, Sarah couldn’t believe what just happened. Smiling, Jake said, “Pull yourself together and let’s finish the race together.” Shoulder by shoulder, they began the race again. They arrived at the finish line together. People immediately realized what had happened, and the crowd burst into thunderous applause. 词汇激活 行为类 ①欣赏:enjoy/admire ②帮助:help/aid ③完成:finish/complete 情绪类 ①绝望的:desperate/hopeless ②振作起来:pull yourself together/back up 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sarah thought she would win the race because she had trained so hard.(运用了省略that的宾语从句和because引导的原因状语从句) [高分句型2] Looking at Jake, Sarah couldn’t believe what just happened.(运用了现在分词looking作状语和what引导的从句作宾语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
