Born in Sudan in 1990, Hamza Yassin is a wildlife cameraman and TV presenter.
He was eight when they landed in the UK. Besides the changes in climate, he also had to adjust to the change in pets: “Where’s everyone’s pet lions and monkeys? It was all cats and dogs. I hadn’t realised what a special upbringing I had had. But it was the UK that cemented my love of wildlife. At first glance, it doesn’t look like there is a lot of wildlife, especially in the winter. But if you peel back the layers, there is so much.”
Though his doctor parents didn’t have time to closely teach him, they did turn on the television; in particular, the Discovery Channel. David Attenborough’s The Life of Birds was an eye-opening experience, and Steve Irwin was a huge inspiration, too. While he thought they had cool jobs, he never thought he could be a presenter. He never saw anyone like him in front of the camera. He was a teenager who wasn’t white.
It was still a long road to establishing his career, though. It was not until after he became an assistant for the incredible wildlife cameraman Jesse Wilkinson that he realized he needed to create his own journey. When he was21, he traveled with friends to the Highlands. Two weeks later, he was back there for good. He told his parents he was living in a beautiful cottage. The truth was that he was living in his car, just trying to make ends meet. He parked at the local ferry terminal but lived there happily for nine months, doing odd jobs — cutting grass, and moving furniture to earn enough money to survive. During that time, he was cutting his teeth as a wildlife cameraman — he was determined that he wouldn’t go back to Northampton with his tail between his legs and say to his parents: “I’ve been defeated.” Luckily, everything paid off. That experience taught him everything he needed to know about the profession.
Eventually, Hamza became a renowned wildlife cameraman, inspiring others to pursue their dreams regardless of their background.
24.What does the underlined word “cemented” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Strengthened. B.Assessed. C.Challenged. D.Reduced.
25.Why didn’t Hamza think he could be a TV presenter at the beginning?
A.He took no passion for being a presenter.
B.He feared to stand in front of the camera.
C.He lacked confidence because of his color.
D.He obtained little support from his parents.
26.Why does the author mention Hamza’s trip to the Highlands?
A.It led to a life-long friendship.
B.It enriched his life experience.
C.It refined his photography skills.
D.It started his own career journey.
27.What can we learn from Hamza’s experience?
A.Great minds think alike. B.Strike while the iron is hot.
C.Actions speak louder than words. D.Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
【答案】24.A 25.C 26.D 27.D
【导语】这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了野生动物摄影师Hamza Yassin的成长故事。
24.词句猜测题。根据划线词句后文“But it was the UK that cemented my love of wildlife. At first glance, it doesn’t look like there is a lot of wildlife, especially in the winter. But if you peel back the layers, there is so much.(但真正让我对野生动物cemented热爱的是英国。乍一看,这里似乎没有很多野生动物,尤其是在冬天。但如果你剥开表层,就会发现有很多。)”可知,正是在英国,作者对野生动物增强了热爱,培养了这一兴趣。从而推知划线部分意思是“加强”。故选A项。
25.推理判断题。根据第三段中“He never saw anyone like him in front of the camera. He was a teenager who wasn’t white.(他从未在镜头前见过像他这样的人。他不是一个白人青少年。)”可知,Hamza一开始不认为自己可以成为一名电视节目主持人是因为他因为肤色而缺乏自信。故选C项。
26.推理判断题。根据第四段中“ It was not until after he became an assistant for the incredible wildlife cameraman Jesse Wilkinson that he realized he needed to create his own journey. When he was21, he traveled with friends to the Highlands. (直到他成为不可思议的野生动物摄影师Jesse Wilkinson的助手后,他才意识到他需要创造自己的旅程。21岁时,他和朋友去苏格兰高地旅行。)”以及文中描述他的高地经历可以推知,作者提到高地之旅是为了说明他是从这次旅行开始自己的职业旅程的。故选D项。
27.推理判断题。根据第四段中“During that time, he was cutting his teeth as a wildlife cameraman — he was determined that he wouldn’t go back to Northampton with his tail between his legs and say to his parents: “I’ve been defeated.” (在那段时间里,他作为一名野生动物摄影师初试身手——他下定决心,他不会夹着尾巴回到Northampton,对他的父母说:“我被打败了。”)”和最后一段“Eventually, Hamza became a renowned wildlife cameraman, inspiring others to pursue their dreams regardless of their background.(最终,Hamza成为了一名著名的野生动物摄影师,激励着其他人去追求自己的梦想,而不管他们的背景如何。)”可知,我们能从Hamza的经历中明白:有志者事竟成。故选D项。

If you are a bean, nut, and seed lover, nutritionists say that you are on a good diet as these are some of the healthiest foods. Locally, nutritionists say these are very much affordable sources of protein, fibre, iron, and vitamins that offer many health benefits.
Gerald Ruzindana, a nutrition and wellness expert, says protein is a vital nutrient that plays a key role in maintaining and repairing the body, and legumes (豆科植物) are high in amino acids (氨基酸), the building blocks of protein. He says that people should consider consuming legumes on a daily basis. “With their presence of proteins, consuming legumes helps heal and make new tissues in the body,” he says. Legumes are also linked to significantly lower risks of heart disease, high blood pressure according to studies.
“It’s surprising how many people still don’t understand the benefits that come with consuming legumes,” says Erick Musengimana, a nutritionist at Rwanda Diabetes Association. He adds that legumes provide fibre, protein, carbohydrate, B vitamins, and because they are plant foods, they are cholesterol free as well, which makes them a perfect option. From studies, one serving of legumes, which is one-half cup, provides about 115 calories, 20g of carbohydrate, 7–9g of fibre, 8g of protein, and 1g of fat. It has also been established that legumes are an essential part of many healthy eating patterns, including the Mediterranean style of eating and vegetarian.
Along with being a highly nutritious food, evidence shows that legumes can play an important role in the prevention and management of a number of health conditions. Also, nutritionists say that a diet that regularly includes legumes may help with weight control, because of its fibre content and protein, as this means that it will slowly get digested after consumption, therefore, aiding in satiety.
28.According to the passage, what is an important nutrient that sustains and restores the body?
A.Vitamin. B.Amino acid. C.Fibre. D.Protein.
29.Why does the author mention the statistics in paragraph 3?
A.To illustrate that legumes are popular. B.To explain why legumes are cholesterol-free.
C.To prove the nutritional value of legumes. D.To compare legumes with other eating styles.
30.What does the underlined word “satiety” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.The state of being full. B.The state of being active.
C.The state of being nutritious. D.The state of being hungry.
31.What’s the main idea of the text?
A.Legumes are helpful to lower risks of heart disease.
B.Legumes are beneficial to people’s physical health.
C.Legumes are a key component of specialized diets.
D.Legumes are economical sources of various nutrients.
【答案】28.D 29.C 30.A 31.B
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了豆类对人们身体健康的益处。
28.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Gerald Ruzindana, a nutrition and wellness expert, says protein is a vital nutrient that plays a key role in maintaining and repairing the body, and legumes (豆科植物) are high in amino acids (氨基酸), the building blocks of protein.(营养与健康专家杰拉尔德·鲁津达纳表示,蛋白质是维持和修复身体机能的关键营养素,而豆科植物富含氨基酸,氨基酸是构成蛋白质的基本单位。)”可知,蛋白质是维持和修复身体的重要营养素。故选D。
29.推理判断题。根据第三段中“From studies, one serving of legumes, which is one-half cup, provides about 115 calories, 20g of carbohydrate, 7–9g of fibre, 8g of protein, and lg of fat.(研究表明,一份半杯的豆类含有约115卡路里、20克碳水化合物、7-9克纤维、8克蛋白质和1克脂肪。)”可知,作者提到这些数据是为了证明豆类的营养价值。故选C。
30.词句猜测题。根据第四段中“Also, nutritionists say that a diet that regularly includes legumes may help with weight control, because of its fibre content and protein, as this means that it will slowly get digested after consumption, therefore, aiding in satiety.(此外,营养学家表示,由于含有纤维和蛋白质,经常食用豆类的饮食可能有助于控制体重,因为这意味着食用后它会慢慢消化,从而有助于satiety。)”可知,食用豆类后,它会慢慢消化,从而有助于产生饱腹感,因此satiety意为“饱腹感”,即“吃饱的状态”。故选A。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第二段中“Legumes are also linked to significantly lower risks of heart disease, high blood pressure according to studies.(根据研究,豆类还与显著降低心脏病、高血压的风险有关。)”、第三段中“He adds that legumes provide fibre, protein, carbohydrate, B vitamins, and because they are plant foods, they are cholesterol free as well, which makes them a perfect option.(他补充说,豆类提供纤维、蛋白质、碳水化合物、B族维生素,而且因为它们是植物性食物,所以不含胆固醇,这使它们成为一个完美的选择。)”以及最后一段中“Along with being a highly nutritious food, evidence shows that legumes can play an important role in the prevention and management of a number of health conditions.(作为一种高营养食品,有证据表明,豆类在预防和管理许多健康状况方面可以发挥重要作用。)”可知,文章主要讲述了豆类对人们身体健康的益处。故选B。

Have you ever walked past a parked car on a hot day and felt the heat radiating off it? It’s not your imagination. In urban environments, heat is absorbed and released by the sidewalks, buildings and other objects. Now, a new study reveals that an unexpected factor in urban warming is heat radiating from parked cars.
Márcia Matias of the University of Lisbon and her colleagues measured the air temperature around two cars—one black and one white—parked outside for more than 5 hours during daylight. Their measurements showed the black car raised the local air temperature by as much as 3.8°C compared to the nearby asphalt (沥青路面) under a clear and sunny summer sky with temperatures of 36°C. Meanwhile, the white car had much smaller impacts on the surrounding air temperature.
The researchers explain that white vehicle paint reflects between 75% and 85% of incoming sunlight, whereas black vehicle paint absorbs most of the incoming sunlight, reflecting just only 5% to 10%. A car’s thin steel or aluminum skin can also heat up quickly under strong sunlight, unlike even very dark asphalt that is thicker and warms more slowly. “Now picture thousands of cars parked across a city, each one acting like a little heat source or a heat shield,” says Matias. “Their color can actually shift how hot the streets feel.”
The collective impact of hundreds of thousands or millions of cars in cities could significantly influence the urban heat island effect. The researchers calculated that repainting parked cars from dark to lighter colors could create cooler surfaces and lower near-surface air temperatures on sunny, low-wind days. Using the city of Lisbon as an example, the change could effectively increase the street-level reflectance (反射比) of incoming sunlight from just 20% to nearly 40% in areas where parked cars cover more than 10% of the road. The researchers also note that using light-colored vehicles to reduce urban heat is a particularly novel strategy, and fleets of municipal vehicles, buses, taxis and delivery trucks are obvious candidates for getting light-colored makeovers.
32.What did the researchers find about the black car according to paragraph 2?
A.It heated up the surface of the asphalt. B.It cooled down faster than the white car.
C.It reflected more heat than the white car. D.It raised the surrounding air temperature.
33.What does the author intend to tell us in paragraph 3?
A.New methods used in the experiment. B.Reasons behind the research findings.
C.The great significance of the research. D.The limitation of the experiment’s results.
34.What do the researchers suggest?
A.Increasing the thickness of car paint. B.Establishing strict parking regulations.
C.Painting specific vehicles in light colors. D.Promoting the use of public transportation.
35.Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Why Are Our Cities Getting Hotter? B.How Can We Make Our Cities cooler?
C.What Is the Best Car Color for Summer? D.How Do Parked Cars Affect Urban Heat?
【答案】32.D 33.B 34.C 35.D
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讲的是一项新研究揭示,在城市环境中,停放的汽车所辐射的热量是导致城市升温的一个意外因素并解释了原因。
32.细节理解题。根据第二段“Their measurements showed the black car raised the local air temperature by as much as 3.8°C compared to the nearby asphalt under a clear and sunny summer sky with temperatures of 36°C.(他们的测量结果显示,与附近的沥青路面相比,在晴朗的夏季气温为36摄氏度的情况下,这辆黑色汽车将当地气温提高了3.8摄氏度。)”可知,研究人员发现黑色汽车提高了周围的空气温度。故选D。
33.主旨大意题。根据第三段“The researchers explain that white vehicle paint reflects between 75% and 85% of incoming sunlight, whereas black vehicle paint absorbs most of the incoming sunlight, reflecting just only 5% to 10%. A car’s thin steel or aluminum skin can also heat up quickly under strong sunlight, unlike even very dark asphalt that is thicker and warms more slowly.(研究人员解释称,白色车漆能反射75%至85%的入射阳光,而黑色车漆则会吸收大部分入射阳光,仅反射5%至10%。与厚度更大、升温更慢的深色沥青不同,汽车的薄钢板或铝制外壳在强烈阳光下也会迅速升温。)”可知,作者想在第3段告诉我们研究结果背后的原因。故选B。
34.细节理解题。根据最后一段“The researchers also note that using light-colored vehicles to reduce urban heat is a particularly novel strategy, and fleets of municipal vehicles, buses, taxis and delivery trucks are obvious candidates for getting light-colored makeovers.(研究人员还指出,采用浅色车辆来缓解城市热岛效应是一项尤为新颖的策略,市政车辆、公交车、出租车以及货运卡车等车队显然是进行浅色改造的理想对象。)”可知,研究人员提出的建议是将特定的车辆涂成浅色。故选C。
35.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第二段“Their measurements showed the black car raised the local air temperature by as much as 3.8°C compared to the nearby asphalt under a clear and sunny summer sky with temperatures of 36°C.(他们的测量结果显示,与附近的沥青路面相比,在晴朗的夏季气温为36摄氏度的情况下,这辆黑色汽车将当地气温提高了3.8摄氏度。)”和第三段“The researchers explain that white vehicle paint reflects between 75% and 85% of incoming sunlight, whereas black vehicle paint absorbs most of the incoming sunlight, reflecting just only 5% to 10%. 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
The world of writing is changing. Things have moved very quickly from keyboards and predictive text. The rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) means robots can now write human-quality text without having hands at all.
Recent improvements in speech-to-text software mean even human “writers” do not need to touch a keyboard, let alone a pen. And with help from AI, text can even be generated by decoders that read brain activity through non-invasive scanning. 36 , without having to lift a finger. The word “writer” may come to mean something very different, as people compose text in multiple ways in an increasingly digital world.
However, learning to handwrite is still a key component of the literacy curriculum in primary schools. 37 . But there are a number of important reasons why handwriting will still be taught in schools.
● It helps you remember
Handwriting has important cognitive benefits, including for memory. Research suggests traditional pen-and-paper notes are remembered better, due to the greater complexity of the handwriting process. 38 In many cases, students become better readers through practicing writing.
39
Handwriting does not need electricity, devices, batteries, software, subscriptions, a fast Internet connection, a keyboard, charging time or the many other things on which digital writing depends. It only needs a pen and paper and can be done anywhere. Sometimes handwriting is the easiest and best option.
●It is about thinking
Most importantly, learning to write and learning to think are closely connected. 40 . They are developed and organized as they are composed. Thinking is too important to be outsourced to robots!
Teaching writing is about giving students a toolkit of multiple writing strategies. Handwriting will remain an important component of this toolkit for the foreseeable future.
A.It is very accessible
B.Ideas are formed as students write
C.It has become part of your daily routine
D.Writers of the future will be talkers and thinkers
E.And learning to read and handwrite are closely linked
F.Good handwriting can help you make a good first impression
G.Parents may be wondering whether learning to handwrite is worth the trouble

【答案】
Protect Wildlife, Protect Our Future
Dear teachers and classmates,
Today, I’m honored to talk about protecting wildlife. Wildlife is an important part of our ecosystem. For example, bees pollinate flowers to help plants grow, and eagles control rodent populations. Without them, our planet would be in chaos.
But many species are now in danger due to human activities. To protect them, we should take action. First, we can raise awareness through campaigns and education. Second, we must strictly oppose illegal wildlife trade. Finally, we can participate in conservation activities like tree-planting to create better habitats.
Protecting wildlife is protecting our own future. Let’s start now! Thank you!

David loved writing. When the school announced an English writing competition, David was eager to participate. He worked hard on his entry, believing it was his chance to prove himself. However, when the results were announced, David’s name wasn’t there. He felt a deep sense of disappointment and frustration, as if all his hard work had been in vain.
After the competition, David felt too embarrassed to talk about his failure. He spent days in his room, avoiding everyone. His former imagination seemed to have dried up, and he couldn’t find the motivation to write anymore. It felt like a part of him had been destroyed.
One afternoon, as David sat in his room, his English teacher, Mr. Carter, came to visit. Mr. Carter was a kind and encouraging teacher who had always believed in David s potential. He had noticed David’s absence in class and decided to check in on him.
“Hey, David,” Mr. Carter said gently. “I heard about the competition. I’m really sorry you didn’t win, but I know how much effort you put into it. You should be proud of yourself for trying.” David looked down, feeling defeated. “I just don’t get it, Mr. Carter,” he said quietly. “I worked so hard, but it wasn’t enough. I feel like I’m never going to be good enough.”
Mr. Carter sat down next to David and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder., He said, “David, writing is not just about winning competitions. It’s about expressing yourself and sharing your ideas. Sometimes, even the best writers don’t win. But that doesn’t mean they’re not good. It just means they need to keep trying and learning.”
With Mr. Carter’s encouragement, David began to analyze his writing. They discussed the strengths and weaknesses of his entry, and Mr. Carter offered valuable suggestions. David started to feel more confident and motivated. He realized that failure was just a part of the learning process.

【答案】
Over the next few weeks, David threw himself back into his writing. He practiced every day, incorporating Mr. Carter’s advice. He wrote essays, short stories, and even poetry, constantly pushing himself to improve. Slowly but surely, his confidence grew, and he began to enjoy writing again. He found that the more he wrote, the more ideas flowed through his mind. Each word he put on paper felt like a small victory, and he started to see his writing in a new light. He realized that the joy of writing wasn’t just in winning competitions, but in the process of creation itself.
The next school year brought another writing competition. This time, David was determined to give it his best shot. He submitted an essay that he had worked on for weeks, feeling more prepared and hopeful than ever before. When the results were announced, David’s heart raced with anticipation. To his delight, his name was called as one of the winners. He couldn’t believe it — he had done it! All the hard work and perseverance had paid off. David knew that this victory was not just his own; it was evidence for the power of believing in oneself and never giving up.

D
第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分)

C
D
第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分)

Thank you!
