Students have been equipped with the expressions they need. 2) The section focuses on reading skills, which comes after listening and speaking practice. Thus, this period can help students use the words and expressions they previously learned. Teaching Aims: 1) To learn different ways of giving directions:start from.../get off.../take Line... 2) To be able to exchange plans for transportation and write transportation plans for customers. 3) To develop a good sense of direction and know the importance of planning transportation ahead of time. Learning Outcomes: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1) Describe transportation options to the hotel. 2) Compare different public transport schedules. 3) Judge the correctness of travel-related statements. 4) Communicate about travel choices and reasons. Lesson Activities Time Teacher Activities Student Activities 5min Stage 1 — Warming-up Show pictures of various transportation tools (shuttle bus, subway, taxi, etc.). Ask students: 1)“What kinds of transportation do you know?” 2)“What kinds of transportation do you like best when you go out or travel? Why?” Encourage them to share their ideas and introduce the topic of transportation. Brainstorm as many words as possible. 3min Stage 2 — Pre-reading 1)Quickly scanning and skimming the reading material and predicting where it is probably from. 2)What transportation is mentioned in the text? Read the passage quickly and get the answer. Stage 3 — While-reading 7min Step 1: Section 1（Listen to the tape of Q9 and Q10） 1) Teach students the important points like words,sentences and grammar of the passage. 2) Ask students many questions and let students quickly answer them. Learn the important points of the passage and take notes.Quickly find the answers and speak out loudly and quickly. 5min Step 2:Section 2（Listen to the tape of Q11） Ask questions : How many kinds of transportation are there from the train station to the hotel?What are they? Three ways. They are subway,bus and taxi. 8min Step 3: Design a situation of two people coming to Hulan city for a visit and ask students to recommend proper travel plans for them. Recommend proper travel plans for the two people. 10min Stage 4 — Post-reading 1) Ask students the read the passage and simply comb the travel plan to hotel. 2) Ask students to read the passage again and judge T or F. 1) Read the passage and find out key words of the travel plan to hotel. 2) Read again and judge the sentences. 1min Stage 5 — Summary & Homework 1) Summary: Summarize the text by completing the mind map. 2) Homework: Required:Remember the words/phrases/sentences of asking directions and giving directions.
