It was always there, even in moments of success or after a kind word from a friend. It started after the doctors said I had autism (自闭症), and autism wasn’t widely understood back then. My teachers didn’t get me. My classmates always laughed at me. Through those years, I never wanted to admit I was autistic. I tried to hide it. But hiding only made the self-doubt stronger. During middle school, I received surgery on my back. I didn’t pass many exams and kept failing the SATs. But something deep inside me told me, “Keep going.” So I did. After three tries, I finally passed. That was when I started writing. At first, it was just a way to get the thoughts out of my head. My voice had been quiet for so long, but now, on paper, it was starting to come through. I put my writing into a book and managed to get it published, although the process was filled with difficulties. People responded in ways I never expected. Some told me my words helped them feel less unnoticed. Others said they finally felt comforted, opening up about their own struggles. Parents reached me to say they had hope again. Hope that their child will be okay. I’ve since spoken at meetings and connected with people who once felt unseen by others. What matters most isn’t the achievements, but knowing that someone, somewhere, who feels like I once did, might hear my story and think, “Maybe I can do that too.” There’s one moment I’ll never forget. Once, after I shared my story at a graduation ceremony, a girl suddenly appeared and began to sing a beautiful song about wishing parents to get closer to their kids and help them. I was so touched. And once again, I was reminded that the voice I once tried to hide had helped someone else find theirs. 4. Which word can best describe the author’s middle school life? A. Eventful. B. Smooth. C. Interesting. D. Fruitless. 5. What made the author begin writing? A. The need to express his feelings. B. The hope to cure his autism. C. The desire for public recognition. D. The encouragement from his teachers. 6. Why was the author moved by the girl’s song? A. It had poetic lines. B. It showed her musical talent. C. It suggested his story inspired others. D. It carried mixed emotions. 7. What message does the author want to deliver? A. Practice makes perfect. B. Actions speak louder than words. C. A trouble shared is a trouble halved. D. One’s experience can light another’s path. C The education technology (edtech) industry has grown rapidly in recent years, with investment (投资) in this field increasing more than forty times over the last decade. As a result, the market is being flooded with new tools and new edtech companies, making it hard for school leaders and teachers to figure out which tools will actually work best in the classroom. “Only 11% of education decision makers were looking at any type of evidence to make a purchasing decision on an edtech tool,” said Isabelle Hau, executive director of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, an organization that helps improve how well children and adults learn. “And only 7% of edtech tools around the world have any kind of strict, dependable evidence that they work.” Besides the lack of research on which tools help students get better grades in this fast-growing edtech field, making sure everyone can get these tools fairly is also challenging. “Many of these tools aren’t shared fairly. This has to do with who pays the money for them and how the money is provided,” Ms. Hau explained. “Around the world, there’s still a huge divide in how easy it is for people in different places to use digital tools (like computers and tablets).” Hau joins GSE Dean Dan Schwartz and Senior Lecturer Denise Pope as they discuss edtech’s rocketing growth, what’s driving that growth, and how school leaders, the government, and other organizations can help teachers get the tools that will best serve their students. “A lot of people are working on it, including us, of course, because we have a big role to play in improving learning outcomes for children and educators,” Hau said. She also shared tips and resources for businessmen looking to get into the edtech space. “You need to start small, and you need to start with a handful of partners that love your solution. And then from there you can expect to grow in size.” 8. What might be the school leaders’ concern about edtech tools? A. Originality. B. Effectiveness. C. Safety. D. Convenience. 9. What does the underlined part “a huge divide” in paragraph 3 probably refer to? A. The inequality in access to digital tools. B. The difference in the quality of edtech products. C. The gap in digital skills between teachers and students. D. The imbalance in educational development across regions. 10. What is Hau’s suggestion for businessmen interested in edtech? A. Dream big. B. Seek investment. C. Be practical. D. Be independent. 11. What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text? A. To recommend edtech products and services. B. To complain about the poor quality of edtech tools. C. To provide detailed guidance on choosing edtech tools. D. To expose the challenges in the fast-growing edtech field. D In North America, monarch butterflies (帝王蝶) live about a month, but the last generation of the year, the ones that migrate (迁徙) south, can live around eight months. Since the 1990s, monarch populations have dropped, particularly at overwintering sites and populations found east of the Rocky Mountains have reduced by around 80 percent. Researchers think that higher temperatures caused by climate change could be a reason. But until now, no studies have specifically looked at that. To test this hypothesis (假设), Fedorka and his team collected nearly 500 wild monarchs before their migration in autumn and divided them into two groups. In the lab, they placed the two groups in migration-path temperature extremes — 23℃ and 19℃, based on 70 years of data. After 26 days, survivors were put into conditions that copied winter. The team found the monarchs that had been in the warmer temperature started laying eggs early — even when there was no milkweed around, the plant where monarchs lay their eggs and on which their young feed. “These monarchs are ready to drop out of migration at any moment,” Fedorka says. The team also found that male monarchs from the warmer group were 88 percent more likely to die than those from the colder group. Both male and female monarchs that had experienced warmer temperatures during their trip had a 28 percent higher risk of dying during winter—no matter what the winter temperatures were. The team admits that further research is needed to see how the results apply in the wild. Sonia Altizer, an expert who studies insects, notes that monarchs’ habit of stopping their trip south when it’s warm means they might one day stop migrating completely. Or, they could migrate only part of the way. And as monarchs help plants by carrying pollen from one flower to another, losing their migration would also mean losing an amazing natural event. “If we lose these groups of monarchs that migrate, we can never get them back,” Altizer says. 12. What does paragraph 2 focus on? A. The process of the experiment. B. The principle of dividing monarchs. C. The challenges of conducting the experiment. D. The specific results observed from the experiment. 13. Which of the following matches the team’s findings? A. Male monarchs die more easily than female ones. B. Warmer climate may make monarchs lay eggs early. C. Food sources come before temperatures for monarchs. D. Nothing along the journey can stop monarchs migrating. 14. What’s Altizer’s attitude towards monarchs’ migration? A. Hopeful. B. Uncaring. C. Worried. D. Unclear. 15. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the text? A. The Approach to Protecting Monarch Butterflies B. Monarch Butterflies’ Migration Path Across North America C. Temperature’s Influence on Migration of Monarch Butterflies D. The Life Differences Among Monarch Butterfly Generations 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 There’s magic in travel, and it’s obvious. Vera was hesitant about bringing a pet into their lives. This disagreement had cast a shadow over their relationship, making Anna feel unsure of her mother’s love. On the morning of her twelfth birthday, Anna noticed something near their garden walls while having breakfast. It took her a moment to figure out what it was, but eventually, she realized it was a little dog. Anna wondered what to do, but ultimately decided to go out. She couldn’t just leave the dog alone! Anna walked up to the dog and extended a hand. The dog took a few steps backward, but it didn’t seem to be terrified of her. He began to sniff (嗅) her hand just seconds later. Anna patted the dog’s head in response. The dog seemed comfortable with this gesture of affection and stood up to get closer to Anna. Then, Anna saw a key underneath him. “What is that?” Anna wondered curiously. She picked it up and remembered one neighbor who told Anna that she was an expert of keys just the day before. She hurried to her neighbor’s house, taking the dog and the key. When Anna came with the dog in her arms, her neighbor wowed in amazement. “I found it, along with this key,” Anna carefully placed the key on her neighbor’s desk. With a magnifying lens (放大镜), her neighbor examined the key and confidently told her, “I know what this key is for. You can get inside Velor Castle’s garden with this key. It has information carved in tiny letters on it.” Though unsure, Anna reasoned, “Perhaps the dog’s owners live there.” The garden was nearby, so that’s where Anna headed. At the garden gate, the anxious girl put the key into the keyhole. As soon as it clicked, the door was unlocked. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Vera and many others were inside! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hearing Vera’s words, Anna realized who the dog’s owners would be. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2025—2026学年(上)清源学校高二年级期中考试 英语 (试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 做题时,先将答案标在试卷上。录音内容结束后,你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 1. AI tools like DeepSeek bring obvious benefits to personalized English learning. They can tailor word lists and exercises to individual levels, and their instant feedback helps students correct mistakes quickly, which saves much time for self-study. However, AI also has drawbacks. Over-reliance may weaken students’ independent thinking, as some just copy AI-generated compositions without deep understanding. What’s more, AI can’t fully replace human communication, which is crucial for language improvement. In my view, AI is a valuable assistant rather than a replacement. We should use it to enhance learning efficiency while keeping practicing critical thinking. Teachers can guide students to use AI properly, so that it truly serves personalized English learning. 第二节(满分25分) 【47题答案】 【答案】One possible version Vera and many others were inside! They burst into cheers as Anna appeared, colorful balloons floating around the garden table filled with gifts. Vera rushed forward, her eyes shining with excitement. “Surprise, sweetheart!” she cried, hugging Anna tightly. She explained that the key and the little dog were both part of a carefully planned experience. The neighbor had helped design this “treasure hunt” to lead Anna here. Vera admitted that she wanted Anna to prove her readiness for pet care through this journey. The dog, a gentle golden puppy, touched Anna’s hand warmly as if recognizing his new friend. Hearing Vera’s words, Anna realized who the dog’s owners would be. Tears of joy flooded her eyes as she understood everything, including the arguments, her mother’s hesitation, and now this perfect gift. “So... he’s truly ours?” Anna whispered, her voice trembling with hope. Vera nodded, smiling through her own tears. “Happy birthday, my responsible girl.” The puppy barked happily, waving its tail as Anna knelt to embrace him. In that moment, all doubts about her mother’s love disappeared, replaced by the warmth of the tight hug they shared. It was the best birthday Anna could ever imagine. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
