Zero pollution flights. Air travel is now a big part of our lives. Every day, planes take off and land all over the world, helping us get to far away places quickly. But behind the fun and convenience of flying, there is a serious problem playing pollution. Airplanes run on fuel made from oil. When they fly, they burn this fuel, releasing bad gases like carbon dioxide into the air. These gases keep the heat from the sun in the air, stopping IT from going out into space. This makes the earth warmer. As the world gets harder, people are likely to see more bad weather events happen, like floods, drought and wildfires. Plain pollution is growing faster than other kinds of travel pollution every year. Lots of people take planes. If this keeps up, plain pollution might break records and make global warming even worse. But there is good news. Scientists are developing cleaner planes. Airbus, a big airplane company in europe, is building a plane called zero e IT runs on Green hydrogen instead of oil, so IT makes almost no bad gases. The plane will use hydrogen fuel to create electricity, and this will make the plane go. China is also doing great work in this area. Chinese scientists have made the first model of a hydrogen powered plane. IT uses the same clean energy ideas, which helps cut down pollution a lot. Making planes that use hydrogen en isn't easy. IT means having to design the plane in a new way, but many scientists are working hard on this. Airbus hopes to fly its first hydrogen plane by twenty thirty five. In the near future, we might see many clean hydrogen powered planes flying. Let's look forward to a Greener sky. Warming up Q1: Do you often travel by plane? Q2: Do you know where airplane fuel comes from? Zero-Pollution Flights From the title, we can know the passage is about ______________________________________. environment-friendly planes Fast reading Zero-Pollution Flights Air travel is now a big part of our lives. Every day, planes take off and land all over the world, helping us get to faraway places quickly. But behind the fun and convenience of flying, there’s a serious problem: plane pollution. Airplanes run on fuel made from oil. When they fly, they burn this fuel, releasing bad gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air. These gases keep the heat from the sun in the air, stopping it from going out into space. This makes the Earth warmer. As the world gets hotter, people are likely to see more bad weather events happen like floods, droughts, and wildfires. Plane pollution is growing faster than other kinds of travel pollution. Every year, lots of people take planes. If this keeps up, plane pollution might break records and make global warming even worse. But there’s good news! Scientists are developing cleaner planes. Airbus, a big airplane company in Europe, is building a plane called ZEROe. It runs on green hydrogen instead of oil, so it makes almost no bad gases! The plane will use hydrogen fuel to create electricity, and this will make the plane go. China is also doing great work in this area. Chinese scientists have made the first model of a hydrogen-powered plane. It uses the same clean energy ideas, which helps cut down pollution a lot. Making planes that use hydrogen isn’t easy. It means having to design the plane in a new way. But many scientists are working hard on this. Airbus hopes to fly its first hydrogen plane by 2035. In the near future, we might see many clean, hydrogen-powered planes flying. Let’s look forward to a greener sky! Air travel is now a big part of our lives. Q: What kind of energy does the plane use? A: It uses hydrogen. Post reading Choose the best answer. B ( )1. What is the main problem talked about in the passage? A. Oil prices are getting higher. B. Plane pollution is getting worse. C. It is expensive for people to afford plane tickets. D. It is difficult for scientists to design new planes. B。 D A ( )2. What does the underlined word “releasing” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese? ( )3. What is special about the ZEROe plane? A. It makes almost no bad gases. B. It can allow small pets to have seats. C. It is the smallest plane Airbus has ever built. D. It can fly faster than any other plane in the world. A。 C ( )4. What can we learn from the passage? A. Airbus will stop making planes by 2035. B. Many planes now use greener fuel instead of oil fuel. C. China has built the first model of a hydrogen-powered plane. D. Many scientists have found practical ways to reduce climate warming. C。 Language study As the world gets hotter, people are likely to see more bad weather events happen like floods, droughts, and wildfires. e.g. (翻译) It is likely to rain this afternoon. be likely to … It uses the same clean energy ideas, which helps cut down pollution a lot. e.g. (翻译) We should cut down on plastic use to protect the environment. cut down 意为“减少;削减”。 3.
