1.The war has led to the _________ of many people’s lives. What a pity!
A.losing B.loss C.lost D.lose
根据“the...of many people’s lives”可知是许多人丧生,定冠词the后加名词。故选B。
2.The victim was found _________ at the corner of the street. The police tried to find out how he _________.
A.dead, died B.dying, dies C.was dying, dead D.died, died
【答案】A
故选A。
3.—What language is that guy speaking? I can’t catch a single word!
—_________. He is from India, so I guess it is Hindi.
A.Neither I can B.So can I C.So I can D.Neither can I
Neither I can语序错误,不符合倒装规则;So can I我也能,用于肯定句,So I can我确实能;Neither can I我也不能。本题中第一句“I can’t catch a single word”为否定句,表示“我也不能”,应使用“Neither/Nor + 助动词 + 主语”结构,因此正确形式为“Neither can I”。故选D。
4.—You don’t like watching drama series, do you?
— . And I have little time to watch them.
A.Of course, I do B.No, I don’t
C.Yes, of course not D.No, I do indeed
5.Many butterflies are still ______________ after the long winter days. Now the forest is ______________.
A.lively; lively B.alive; alive C.alive; lively D.lively; alive
6.I never doubt ________ the song My Motherland and I is well worth ________.
A.whether; listening B.if; listening to
C.that; listening to D.that; listening
根据“I never doubt...the song My Motherland and I is well worth...”可知,第一空,在否定句“never doubt”中,宾语从句引导词应用that;第二空,be worth doing是固定搭配,意为“值得做”;但listen是不及物动词,接宾语“the song”时需加介词to,即“listen to the song”,此处需用listening to。故选C。
7.—The issue of “pre-made meals” has caught much attention. What do you think of it?
—I don’t think they are healthy. I ________ food on my own than eat pre-made meals.
A.prefer to cook B.prefer cooking C.would cook D.would rather cook
prefer to cook更喜欢做饭(prefer to do sth.);prefer cooking更喜欢做饭(prefer doing sth.);would cook会做饭;would rather cook宁愿做饭。根据“than eat pre-made meals”可知,此处是“宁愿……也不愿……”的句型,用would rather do sth. than do sth.。故选D。
8.Don’t be afraid of the problems we meet in our lives. All of them can be ________ with our wisdom and patience.
A.handed out B.put out C.found out D.worked out
handed out分发;put out扑灭;found out查明;worked out解决。根据“Don’t be afraid of the problems we meet in our lives. All of them can be...with our wisdom and patience”可知用智慧和耐心可以解决生活中遇到的问题。故选D。
9.—Can you tell me when the Boeing 737 MAX planes will be allowed to fly again, sir?
—I’m afraid it’s still________ to talk about that. We’ll see.
A.late enough B.early enough C.too late D.too early
late enough足够晚了;early enough及早;too late为时已晚;too early为时过早。根据“I’m afraid”以及“We’ll see”可知,这是一般将来时,说明事情还没有发生。
10.—I hear our classmates will have a spring outing to Luoma Park tomorrow.
—Sounds good. But I wonder ________.
A.when shall we meet tomorrow B.what shall we prepare for it
C.that there will be a heavy rain tomorrow D.if I will be free tomorrow
wonder后缺少宾语,用宾语从句,宾语从句用陈述语序,排除AB;根据“wonder”可知wonder意为“想知道”,不能用that引导此宾语从句,排除C;此处用“if I will be free tomorrow”表示“我明天是否有空”。

A
Thornton, Pete and Hans, with Buck and six other dogs, started going to the east. When spring came, they found a lake in a wide valley. Through the water the gold showed like yellow butter, and here their search ended. They worked every day, filling bag after bag with gold.
Buck spent many evenings sitting by the fire. He always heard something calling him into the forest. The call of the wild reminded him of the wolf who had run beside him.
“He’s the finest dog that I’ve ever seen,” said Thornton to his friends one day as they watched Buck walking out of camp.
“There’ll never be another dog like him,” said Pete.
In autumn, Buck started to see moose (麋鹿) in the forest. One day he met a group of about twenty. The largest was two meters tall. When the moose saw Buck, it got very angry. For hours Buck followed the moose; he wanted the big one, but he wanted it alone. By the evening Buck had driven the big old moose away from the others, and then he began his attack. The animal weighed six hundred and fifty kilos—it was big enough and strong enough to kill Buck in seconds. Buck followed it for four days, attacking and then jumping away. He gave it no peace, no time to eat or drink or rest, and slowly the moose became weaker. At the end of the fourth day, Buck pulled the moose down and killed it. He stayed by the dead animal for a day and a half, eating and then turned towards camp and Thornton.
23.Thornton and his friends stopped searching because they ________.
A.felt tired of work B.found gold in a lake C.met a wolf on the way D.heard the call of the wild
24.The underlined “him” in Paragraph 4 means ________.

根据文章第一段“When spring came, they found a lake in a wide valley. Through the water the gold showed like yellow butter, and here their search ended.”
根据文章第三段“‘He’s the finest dog that I’ve ever seen,’ said Thornton to his friends one day as they watched Buck walking out of camp.”以及第四段“‘There’ll never be another dog like him,’ said Pete.”

At the end of the fourth day, Buck pulled the moose down and killed it.” 故选A。

More and more people are living to be 100 years old. To find out how they reach 100, experts reviewed lifestyle and health habits of centenarians (百岁老人) and near-centenarians (those aged 95-99) worldwide. Here are four things you can do to contribute to a long and healthy life:
Have a diverse diet with less salt intake (摄入). People who live a long time eat many kinds of foods. They have lots of grains (谷物), fruits, vegetables, and proteins (蛋白质) like beans and fish. They don’t eat too much red meat or add lots of salt to their food.
Take fewer medicines. Even though older people might have some health problems, they usually start dealing with them later in life. They take medicines fewer than other people of their age. Doctors should only give medicines when they really need them.
Get good sleep. Good sleep plays a greatly important role in staying healthy. It helps your body fight sickness and keeps your heart and mind working well. Try to sleep for about 7 to 8 hours every night.
Live in a healthy place. More than 75 per cent of the centenarians and near-centenarians live in the countryside. Being close to nature can make you feel better and live longer. For example, exposure (暴露) to green space has been connected with lower stress, depression (抑郁) and blood pressure.
Remember, living a long life isn’t just about what you eat or where you live. It’s also about not smoking, not drinking much alcohol (酒精), staying active, and having friends to talk to. It’s never too early to start making your life healthier!

I was traveling in a long bus distance to visit my family, 6 hours in the road to be precise (准确的).
I started feeling bad, light headed. I have brown hair but I suppose I looked really pale at the moment and I was sweating (出汗). I was traveling alone and there wasn’t anyone I knew whom I could ask for help. To make the matter worse, I was broke (破产), with just the exact money for the trip—no extra for any unexpected needs.
I was trying my best to act normal (正常), but my discomfort was becoming increasingly hard to hide. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. When I looked up, a man asked me if I was doing fine. I said, “Yes, I am.” because I didn’t want to bring trouble to others and I felt embarrassed. This person insisted on helping but I said I was okay.
He kept an eye on me and minutes later, he returned with an unopened bottle of water. I gratefully accepted the water because I was really thirsty and my condition was stronger than my pride. He told me to let him know what he could do and asked me what was happening to me. I thanked him, touched by his kindness.
Months later, I was walking on the street with my mom back in her town and we saw this person. He remembered me, greeted me and expressed his joy after noticing I was in good health. It was a heartwarming reminder of the kindness of strangers.
After the reunion, I decided to repay the kindness. I started carrying extra bottles of water and small snacks with me whenever I traveled so that if I ever met someone in need, I could offer them some comfort, just as I had received. This small act has since become a habit, a way to show respect for the stranger’s compassion (同情心) and to keep his spirit of generosity (慷慨) alive.

Everyone is shaped by the people and environment around them, but none so much as the family. For better or worse, our parents and other relatives have a great influence on our lives. They are the first people we learn from and the ones we model ourselves after. As we grow older, we may distance ourselves from them, but their influence remains.
One of the most obvious ways the family shapes us is through genetics (遗传). We get our physical characteristics from our parents, like hair color and eye color. 37 We also get tendencies (偏好) and talents, such as a musical talent. Even though we can’t choose our genes, we can learn to accept the things that make us unique.
Another way the family shapes us is through its experiences. From an early age, we learn the habits, beliefs (信仰), and values of our family members, 38 We may not share all the same views as our parents or grandparents, but their influence is still there. In many ways, this influence is even stronger than genes when it comes to who we become as people.
39 The way our parents treat us and each other has a huge influence on how we see the world and how we treat the people around us. If we grow up in a family full of love and respect, we are more likely to show love and respect to others.
There’s no certain answer to the question of nature or nurture (培养). 40 But many other factors (因素) also play a role. By understanding how our family shapes us, we can develop a deeper understanding of our own lives and relationships.
A.But genetics goes beyond appearance.
B.Finally, the family shapes us by example.
C.This can help create a sense of pride within the family.
D.In difficult times, our family is often the first place we turn to.
E.Over time, these things become part of us whether we realize it or not.
F.Our family plays an important role in how we develop as human beings.
【答案】37.A 38.E 39.B 40.F

37.根据“We get our physical characteristics from our parents, like hair color and eye color. ... We also get tendencies (偏好) and talents, such as a musical talent.”
38.根据“From an early age, we learn the habits, beliefs (信仰), and values of our family members”可知,E选项“随着时间的推移,这些东西无论我们是否意识到,都成为了我们的一部分”,句中的“these things”指代前文提到的家庭成员的习惯、信仰和价值观,符合语境,故选E。
39.根据“The way our parents treat us and each other has a huge influence on how we see the world and how we treat the people around us”可知,B选项“最后,家庭通过榜样塑造我们”,父母对待我们和彼此的方式就是一种榜样,符合语境,故选B。
40.根据“There’s no certain answer to the question of nature or nurture (培养). But many other factors (因素) also play a role.”

The Senior School Entrance Exams for Chinese Junior 3 students used to be mainly about academic (学术类的) subjects such as Chinese, Maths, English, etc. But starting from 2022, there are also tests in music. This policy aims to encourage primary and secondary schools to provide more fine music classes because a new study shows that music education is really important in school education. Here are some ideas on how music plays an important role in school education.
Music helps with Maths and Science. Students learn to count, and how to multiply and divide. Students also use Science to help them discover what sounds good together and what doesn’t. Besides, students also use Science to understand how music is produced by vibration (颤动) and why.
Students learn a lot about languages through music. Many songs are written in foreign languages. Students must learn to translate these foreign works to understand what they are singing about.
Students learn a huge amount of cooperation (协调) of body parts through music, so parts of the body can work better together. For example, students must use motor (肌肉运动的) skills in order to play an instrument. Singers and wind (管乐器) players must learn breath control and be in good shape to sing and play.
Students learn about Art through music. Some famous pieces of music were written about important pieces of art, and students learn about the artists and styles as they’re playing the music.

Music education also brings higher thinking. Students have to be aware (知道的) of what every other musician does at every time. In this way, it develops cooperation as well. They tend to develop more ability for learning.
