I used to be very shy when I was a teenager. I was afraid of talking with people. The fear followed me until I came into high school. In my first year of high school, I spoke to no one. I just sat at my desk, did my schoolwork and hoped my classmates leave me alone. This situation lasted until one day, one of my outgoing classmates said that I was a little snobby.
What she said made me surprised. And I wondered why she had that idea. “You never talk to us,” she said. At that moment, I realized my shyness had left a wrong impression (印象) on my classmates. I hated that, so I decided to change myself.
I took small steps to deal with my shyness. I still remember that my face would turn red every time. I came into the classroom, because standing in front of so many people made me feel nervous. In order to change myself, I decided to come into the classroom and say “Good morning” every day. Several days later, it just became natural to do so. What’s more, I took public speaking classes at school. It gave me a chance (机会) to practice speaking in public, which helped me a lot. The more I spoke in public, the more confident I became. Now, I’m able to keep my shyness under control. But I haven’t got over it completely. Like most habits, it is hard to break overnight. I’m still learning how to deal with it.

Sometimes, kids don’t think their parents are fair to them. When you want to dress in a modern way, your mom doesn’t allow you to wear a mini-skirt. When you are making phone calls, they ask if you’re speaking to a boy or a girl. Sometimes it seems that you’re not as close to your parents as you used to be. How can you change such a situation?
Closing the Gap by the American author Jay McGraw gives advice on how to have a better relationship with your parents.
Both parents and children have needs. They need to feel they are important and loved. You should tell your parents your needs, and find out what their needs are. To get your parents to know what you’re doing and what you want to do, you should talk about your school life now and your dreams for the future. It helps your parents know more about you. Maybe you can think of a way to make all of you happy.
The book gives ways to help teenagers understand their parents. When you think “my parents don’t allow me to have any fun”, it usually means your parents want you to be safe. The book gives you lots of ideas, such as making time to talk, keeping a diary and showing your parents you are growing up. If you follow these steps, you will be able to make your home a happier place.

If you want to write a good article, you might want to listen to what Nobel Prize-winning (诺贝尔奖获得者) writers say about writing. Here is some advice from them.
Show more, talk less
In 1993, Toni Morrison became the first black woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (文学). “My favourite part of my work is that I can show more with fewer words. There is no need to describe every detail. I’d like to depend more on readers’ own emotions (情感) and intelligence,” she said.
Write regularly
Vargas Llosa won the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature
Vargas Llosa said that instead of waiting for good ideas before you start writing, you should just make yourself write regularly. Doing so will help you come up with these ideas.
“If I just wait for good ideas, I will never finish a book. My good ideas come from years of hard work,” he said.
Use a pen and paper
Kazuo Ishiguro won the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Ishiguro said, “I write my first drafts (初稿) with a pen and paper instead of using a computer.”
“When I write my first draft, I don’t worry about the style. Instead, I just try to get all my ideas down on paper,” Ishiguro also said.
“Then I plan the whole thing out from that. I number the parts and move them around. By the time I write my next draft, I have a clearer idea of where I’m going,” he explained.
Reading makes a full man and writing makes an exact man. So try the ways above to improve your writing.

例文
Looking back on my three years in junior high school, I can see how much I have changed.
First, I became taller and more outgoing. I used to be shy, but now I truly enjoy talking with others freely.
Second, I learned some effective study methods. I make detailed plans for each subject, review notes every evening to strengthen my memory, and discuss difficult problems with classmates to gain new ideas.
Third, I realize teenagers should not be allowed to drive because they are not mature enough to handle unexpected situations. Also, parents should let children make their own decisions so that we can learn to manage our lives independently.
I’m proud of my growth during these meaningful years.
