Last week, my family and I went camping in the Lake District National Park for two nights. At first, I worried we’d be alone in the middle of nowhere. “How will we wash, and go to the toilet?” I asked my dad. Dad laughed, and explained, “We can’t camp anywhere in a national park, and we have to use special campsites (野营地).”
As we drove closer to the Lake District, green hills started coming into our eyes. Our campsite was right by a large lake, and the views (风景) amazed us. The lake was surrounded by all mountains, and the water was so still and clear.
The campsite had clean showers, toilets and a small shop. We planned to put up our tent next to the lake. It was our first time camping. Mum and Dad had bought a new tent just for this trip, so putting it up was our first challenge. It took a while, especially since we mixed up the tent poles (杆) at first!
That night, we cooked supper on our camping stove, and it tasted surprisingly good. We sat outside by the lake eating, listening to the gentle sound of the water. The sky was clear, so when it got dark, we saw thousands of stars. Their reflections (倒影) twinkled in the lake, and with the tall dark mountains all around, it felt like a really special place. I wanted a campfire, but Mum said we couldn’t because the dry weather for weeks made the park worry about forest fires.
The two nights went by so quickly. We had a wonderful time, and none of us were ready to go when we had to pack up. After packing everything into the car, Dad walked around our tent, staring at the ground.
“What have you lost, Dad?” I asked.
Dad said, “No—but when you go camping, you have to take away everything you brought with you. You mustn’t leave rubbish or anything.”

What will you say if you need to tell someone about yourself? Seeing yourself from the outside can be hard. However, knowing who you are helps you understand your feelings and make friendships stronger.
Self-awareness (自我意识) means learning about your thoughts, feelings, and actions. It is a simple viewpoint. For example, you might know you love playing basketball because you’re good at it. This is part of being self-aware.
Self-awareness is important. When you know what you like and dislike, you can make better choices. Believing in your feelings can build confidence further. Self-awareness is one of the ten important life skills for a happy and healthy life. Being self-aware isn’t just about thinking about yourself. Understanding your own feelings helps you understand others better, too.
A great way to learn about yourself is to ask questions. Use “What” instead of “Why”. If you keep arguing (争吵) with a friend, ask yourself what you disagree on instead of why you’re arguing. Looking for the same points about your likes and dislikes helps you learn more about yourself.
Learning self-awareness is a skill, and that means you can learn it as you grow. Try new things, like doing a new sport or listening to different music. Don’t worry if you don’t like something. Finding out what’s hard or challenging is part of learning about yourself. Keep exploring, and you’ll understand yourself better day by day!
56.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By showing a fact. B.By asking a question.
C.By giving an example. D.By sharing an experience.
57.The underlined word “viewpoint” in paragraph 2 means ________.
A.opinion B.decision C.survey D.competition
58.Why is self-awareness important in paragraph 3?
A.It helps you show your feelings. B.It encourages you to try new things.
C.It helps you make good choices. D.It makes you pay attention to your choices.
59.When you argue with a friend, which question should you ask according to the passage?
A.Why are you so angry? B.What do we disagree on?
C.What’s wrong with you? D.Why do you make me angry?
60.What can be the best title for this passage?
A.Learn About Yourself B.Try New Sports and Music
C.The Importance of Friends D.The Way of Building Confidence

The big day is finally here. You and your team have made it to the final game of the soccer tournament (联赛). You’re ready to win... but so is the other team. Then, suddenly, someone scores! The game is over. The other team has won and gets a shiny gold cup. But then the coaches start giving out something else to you and the other players: participation awards (参与奖). Everyone reacts differently. Some cheer with pride. Others look disappointed. And you? You don’t know how to feel...
Participation awards have been around since the 1920s, when they were invented to make sports safer for kids. That’s because when the first youth sports tournament was created in the early 1900s, games were even more competitive than they are today. Many kids were badly hurt in their effort (努力) to win. Adults were worried. Some schools even stopped holding sports programs completely.
But then came a solution: participation awards. The point was to take the focus away from winning and put it on other values, like teamwork and hard work, or sticking to something. Many people today say that’s why participation awards are still needed. “Winning isn’t everything,” says Kenneth Barish, a scientist who studies kids’ feelings and behavior. “The more important thing is to let kids know that we’re proud of them—not for winning, but for their effort. Praising (赞扬) effort has amazing influence. It makes it easier for young people to try new things without fear, learn from mistakes, and take on new challenges with a positive attitude.”
But some people worry that giving awards to everyone sends the wrong message. Some even believe it is time to toss them aside for good. In real life, people are not always rewarded for just showing up. After all, you don’t get an A just for going to class. Participation awards, some say, could teach kids to expect awards when they aren’t deserved (值得).
So what do you think? Does everyone deserve a participation award?
61.What’s the writing purpose of paragraph 1?
A.To talk about a soccer game. B.To show how people feel about awards.
C.To compare two kinds of awards. D.To lead in the topic of participation awards.
62.What can we learn about participation awards from paragraph 2?
A.They were created to make sports safer for kids.
B.They started with the first youth sports tournament.
C.They were made to make games more competitive.
D.They were used to solve parents’ worries by schools.
63.What does Kenneth Barish mainly want to tell us?
A.Why winning shouldn’t be taken seriously. B.Why participation awards are necessary.
C.How awards can influence game results. D.How participation awards stop competing.
64.What do the underlined words “toss them aside for good” mean in paragraph 4?
A.Throw them away forever. B.Keep them in mind.
C.Treat them as fun things. D.Turn them into money.
65.What does the writer think of participation awards?
A.He supports them. B.He sees both sides.
C.He doubts them. D.He doesn’t care.

66 Being moved by a movie, seeing a loved one off, or being angry about something can all cause tears to roll down our faces. We all have the power to cry, but is that a good thing?
When you think about it, shedding (流泪) tears is a strange thing to do. But it seems to be normal when we get sad, upset or even when we’re very happy. 67 However, the feeling is the same. Your eyes tighten (变紧) and before you know it, tears are streaming down your face. Some of us may sniffle (抽鼻子) a little while others may cry like a baby.
Some people suggest that it’s women who cry more than men. It is true. A study in the UK found that women did cry more than men. 68 Or are they just uncomfortable about showing their true feelings?
One place where emotions (情绪) run high is in the workplace. Someone might be stressed. 69 A scientist, Joanna Cross, told the BBC, “Crying is often a build-up of failure and bad situations.” She explained how someone might start crying when they were just asked to make a cup of tea, “Actually that’s often a backlog (积压) of situations.”
Though crying doesn’t change situations for the better, it can actually make you feel better. 70 So perhaps more of us, especially men, should cry more often if it is necessary. It isn’t a bad thing.
A.Their work might be too much.
B.It can clear the bad feelings you’ve had.
C.The reasons why people cry are different from each other.
D.What makes you cry?
E.But does this mean men don’t get as upset or sad as women?

Do you know school bullying (欺凌)? It is one of the most serious 81 (problem) that can happen to anyone. The harm it causes is deep and long-lasting.
Victims (受害者) of bullying often feel lonely, scared, and worthless. Their self-confidence may 82 (appear), and it will be very difficult for them to become 83 (interest) in studying. Some of them may spend a long time 84 (stay) at home instead of coming back to school. In some serious cases, they could develop mental health problems like depression or anxiety. The fear and pain can 85 (deep) affect their whole lives.
So, 86 should you do if you see bullying happening? First, be brave and don’t be a bystander. If it is safe, you can try to stop the bully calmly 87 saying something like, “That’s not funny.” Your courage might encourage others to speak up too. Most importantly, report the incident to a trusted adult immediately, such as a 88 at school or your parents after going home. They have the experience and ability to help handle the situation properly. Never try to deal with it all by 89 (you). Keeping silent only makes the situation much 90 (bad).

However, my parents and teachers encouraged me to take part in school clubs and class activities. Gradually, I became more confident. I also failed some exams at first, but I learned from these mistakes and studied harder. Now I often get good grades. I used to be impatient, too.
