After their daughter was born, they wanted to move to a place where she could be closer to nature. A trip to Tachuan in 2021 helped them decide to move to the small mountain village and open a hotel.
Schober says the biggest feature (特点) of his hotel is its combination (结合) of the traditional Chinese building and Western interior design (室内设计). Visitors can experience the beauty of both the East and the West. The hotel also offers food, and Schober’s handmade pizza is popular.
While running his own business, Schober hopes to let the ancient village be seen more by the world. He gives free English classes there every Thursday evening. “I am very confident that we will receive more tourists in the future, especially foreign friends,” he said.

“Are you cold?” This is a question I’ve heard many times since I came to China. I often wear a light jacket and T-shirt during winter, when most other people are wearing heavy clothing. I understand that people are sometimes confused (困惑的) or worried when I wear so little clothing during winter.
But when my Chinese friends refuse to eat or drink cold things, even during the heat of summer, that’s when the tables turn and I become the one who is confused. They believe that cold food and drinks might harm their health. Where does this belief (信仰) come from? My friends said their parents taught them that cold food and drinks are bad for your body. One friend even told me that cold liquids, such as ice water, can cause the fat in your stomach to become solid (固体).
But after doing some research of my own, I wasn’t sure if this was truly the case. According to an article I read on Snopes, a website, the food that you eat will quickly match your own internal temperature. This means that it doesn’t matter if you eat something hot or cold. The temperature of the food or drinks will match your own temperature anyway.
But on the other hand, when I get sick, my Chinese friends often tell me “drink some hot water and have a good rest”. And I have to say, following this advice often does make me feel better.
31. The writer gets confused when Chinese people ________.
A. wear heavy clothing in winter B. don’t eat cold food in summer
C. turn over the table while eating D. ask him if he is hot
32. Which of the following is the writer’s opinion about cold food?
A. It makes the temperature of your body low.
B. Chinese people also eat a lot of cold food during summer.
C. You may easily catch a cold if you eat too much cold food.
D. Cold food can quickly match your own internal temperature.
33. The underlined word “internal” in the passage means “________”.
A. inside B. outside C. normal D. special
34. When the writer gets sick, his Chinese friends often tell him to ________.
A. take some Chinese medicine B. drink some ice water
C. eat food with less fat D. drink some hot water
35. What is the best title of the passage?
A. Different table manners. B. Great culture.
C. Different beliefs. D. Perfect eating habit.
Ⅷ.阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Spring is coming, and it’s time to enjoy West Lake Longjing tea! Usually, we think workers will pick tea leaves by hand. But now, some Longjing tea is being picked by special workers—tea-picking robots!
In a tea garden in Hangzhou, a smart tea-picking robot invented by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University has started working. “We take thousands of pictures of new tea buds (芽) and input them into the robot for it to learn. The robot uses an AI model to recognize (识别) the buds it should pick,” said Professor Chen Jianneng, a member of the research team. This helps the robot find the right tea buds about 90 percent of the time.
The robot’s arm pulls the tea buds and then sucks (吸) them up. These buds are quickly moved into a special box. Once the robot has collected all the buds from the area it’s working at, it moves the buds from the box to a main box that holds everything it collects.
The robot was made because there are not enough people to pick tea. In Zhejiang, about 400,000 pickers are needed now. “Picking is the greatest challenge for the development of the tea industry (产业),” said Professor Wu Chuanyu, who leads the research team. “About five years from now, the robots will do the job of picking West Lake Longjing tea instead of people,” Wu added.

We teenagers are the future of our country. To be a great student is easy. As middle school students, we are supposed to be honest. Especially in exams, we shouldn’t copy others’ answers. We are not supposed to tell lies. To do well in our study, we are supposed to listen to the teachers carefully and finish the homework on time. Besides, we are not expected to throw away rubbish everywhere. We are supposed to pick it up and throw it into the rubbish bins.
