(24-25高二上·湖北武汉·期末)By my early 40s, I had exhausted all the hobbies that were supposed to make me feel better about entering middle age. And then, at the height of my desperation, I decided to sign up for a ballet class.
“But you’re not very flexible,” my friend gently reminded me. She wasn’t wrong. I nearly injured myself in an attempt to stretch. Also, my track record for physical activity wasn’t great: With short periods on the badminton court, a brief try at cycling, and an on-and-off relationship with swimming, I could see how I didn’t exactly look like prospective ballet material. However, I was determined to give it a try.
This wasn’t my first time in a ballet studio. My classes were physically demanding and my muscles were achy. But this time around, the exact same things that had made me flee the studio now brought me a fresh perspective.
I hadn’t anticipated that my teacher’s instructions would change my way of being in the world. When I tried to extend my foot to the side, my teacher reminded me that ballet isn’t about perfection. Rather, he said, it’s about “struggling for perfection”. The idea that my body is still a work in progress encourages me. Ballet is forcing me to rethink my relationship with my body, and instead of noticing only the older age, I am now amazed at what my body is capable of and the changes I’ve seen as I’ve learned to stand with more confidence and courage. The imperfections? They’re part of being alive.
Eight years into my ballet classes, I’m what you would call a lifelong advanced beginner. At the age of 50, I focus on my breathing and move my body in ways that always challenge me and remind me of everything that is possible.
24.What made the author determined to try ballet?
A.Her need for freshness in midlife. B.Her failure in various sports.
C.Her desire to perform ballet well. D.Her talent for physical activities.
25.What effect did the ballet teacher’s words have on the author?
A.Forcing her to rethink each movement. B.Motivating her to practice even harder.
C.Shifting her focus to the progress she made. D.Changing her attitude towards ballet dancing.
26.Why did the author call herself a lifelong advanced beginner?
A.Because she has mastered ballet completely.
B.Because she sticks to beginner ballet classes.
C.Because she regrets starting ballet too late in life.
D.Because she continues dancing despite challenges.
27.What message does the text convey?
A.Imperfection should be avoided at all costs.
B.Only through hardwork can one achieve perfection.
C.The pursuit of perfection matters more than the result.
D.Middle-aged people should make well-informed decisions.
C
(24-25高二上·陕西西安·期末)For many people, breakfast — often called the most important meal of the day — is also the day’s least-exciting meal. Foods at breakfast are typically simple, quick, and easy to prepare and eat. And when people find a breakfast option they like, they generally stick with it, day after day, scientists have found.
When researchers evaluated the daily eating habits in thousands of U. S. And French study subjects, they saw that people repeatedly ate the same thing for breakfast and were happy to do so. By comparison, when those people sat down to have lunch or dinner, they expected greater variety and wanted a more pleasurable experience from their meals.
Researchers analyzed data in which a group of l, 275 American volunteers and a group of 2, 624 French volunteers reported what they ate for different meals to find patterns in meal experiences. They discovered that in both groups, 68 % of the participants ate the same breakfast at least twice in one week, and French people did so even more often than Americans did. By comparison, just 9 % of the people repeated a dinner they had already eaten and this repetition was higher for the American participants than for the French participants. The researchers then proposed that psychological (心理的) factors could also map onto circadian rhythms (昼夜节律) to further push people toward certain meal choice. Early in the day, when energy levels are higher, people tend to make practical choice. This makes it more likely that they’d be guided by practicality over pleasure when eating breakfast and would therefore be satisfied with a meal choice that they don’t have to think about too much. And it would be more possible for them to find one breakfast they like and then eat the same thing over and over again, according to the study.
But as the day progresses, and a person’s energy increased and decreased, the importance of practical goals reduces. Pleasure-sacking becomes more important, and a person would then be more likely to seek variety in tastes and texture.
However, even though culture, biology, and psychology make it seem natural to seek practical goals for breakfast, by consciously introducing variation into weekday breakfasts, breakfast can become much more enjoyable, which can help set a more positive tone for the rest of the day.
28.What did the researchers find in their study?
A.People have realized the benefits of eating breakfast.
B.People think it hard to find their favorite breakfast.
C.People usually spend a lot of time on cooking.
D.People tend to repeat their breakfast option.
29.Which method did the researchers most likely use to collect data?
A.Making surveys. B.Performing experiments.
C.Working with local restaurants. D.Observing participants’ daily diets.
30.What did the researchers conclude from people’s circadian rhythms?
A.Eating regularly contributes to good health.
B.People’s attitudes towards breakfast vary throughout the day.
C.People’s mood is the decisive factor in choosing their breakfast.
D.Energy changes throughout the day greatly affect people’s food choices.
31.Which of the following could be the best title for the text?
A.The Significance of Breakfast in Our Daily Life
B.Breakfast Habits: Why We Repeat
C.Differences in Meal Choices between Americans and French
D.The Influence of Circadian Rhythms on Our Eating Patterns

(24-25高二上·云南昭通·期末)Increasing your productivity is how ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool from OpenAI, attracts its users. However, despite hopes that the technology will improve efficiency at work, not everyone is on board.
According to a report by the World Economic Forum published in April, 59 percent of men aged 18 to 65 around the world use generative AI at least once a week, compared to 51 percent of women. The gender gap is even wider among younger people: 71 percent of men aged 18 to 24 use generative AI weekly, compared with 59 percent of women.
Why are women less open to AI than men? According to AI expert Jodie Cook, this gap reflects the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). “STEM fields have traditionally been led by males. The current pattern in the use of AI tools appears to mirror this difference.” Cook told the BBC.
Outside this larger social context, certain patterns in female thinking might also play a role. In a survey of 486 students, divided by academic performance, researchers found that high-performing female students were more likely to use ChatGPT only when it had been allowed by their professor. “It’s the ‘good girl’ thing. It’s this idea that I have to go through this pain, I have to do it on my own, and I shouldn’t cheat or take shortcuts,” Siri Isaksson, a researcher of the study, explained to The Economist.
Women’s reluctance may also come from fears about how others view their abilities. British psychologist Lee Chambers suggests that the fear of being seen as less capable could add to this way of thinking. “There could be this feeling that if people know that you, as a woman, use AI, it’s suggesting that you might not be as qualified as you are,” he explained.
For some experts, women’s reluctance to use AI is troubling, as it could lead to technology being designed more for men by the time AI becomes a fully accepted part of society. Others, however, are less alarmed. Danielle Li, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, points out that AI may right now act more as a “digital toy”, and high-achieving women may simply be better at avoiding distraction.
32.Why does the author list these numbers in Paragraph 2?
A.To show women are less open to AI.
B.To explain women are naturally interested in technology.
C.To prove different learning methods between men and women.
D.To introduce men are more creative with the aid of AI tools.
33.What’s the attitude of high-performing female students toward ChatGPT?
A.They distrust it greatly. B.They consider it a waste of time.
C.They prefer using it with permission. D.They believe it may develop laziness.
34.What’s reason for women reluctant to use AI, according to Lee Chambers?
A.They find AI annoying.
B.They lack confidence in their tech skills.
C.They fear being seen as overly ambitious.
D.They worry about being regarded less capable.
35.What’s the attitude of the author towards women’s reluctance to use AI?
A.Supportive. B.Objective. C.Doubtful. D.Concerned.

There is no better feeling than taking control of your life and finding the power to make your dreams come true. Here’s how to make it happen.
Believe in yourself
Although it is easier said than done, having a strong belief in yourself is the first step to successfully achieving your dreams. 36 If self-confidence is something that you struggle with, there are many activities that you can do to build your self-esteem, like stepping out of your comfort zone and accepting new challenges.
Develop an action plan
37 If you want to launch a business, create a timeline that outlines the steps you need to take. If you have a goal of saving more money, draw up a budget that outlines your income and expenses.
Once you have the initial vision mapped out, break down each step into manageable chunks and assign them deadlines. 38 And as you complete action items and cross them off your list, your big daunting goal will start to feel more and more achievable.
Take risks
Risk is more than just a four-letter word — it is an essential part of achieving success. Taking risks means seeking out new opportunities and pushing yourself to expand your comfort zone. If you feel frightened or even paralyzed by risk, recognize that there are only two potential outcomes: success or failure. 39
By following these strategies and remaining dedicated to your goals, you can empower yourself to reach for the stars! 40 You are only ever a few steps away from fulfillment and success.
A.After all, conquering your dreams is no easy task.
B.And the experience gained from either is invaluable.
C.So get out there and start making your dreams a reality today!
D.In many cases, this courage is all that stands between you and your dreams.
E.This will help you to prioritize your efforts and stay focused on the task at hand.
F.To make your dreams a reality, you first must translate them into actionable goals.
G.This means having faith in your abilities and trusting that you can shape your future.

The Luban Lock: Ancient Puzzle of Wisdom
Originating in ancient China, the Luban Lock is a three-dimensional puzzle 56 (make) entirely of wood without nails or glue. Named after the legendary craftsman Lu Ban, this delicate device 57 (consist) of six special sticks that interlock precisely through mortise-and-tenon (榫卯) joints. For centuries, it 58 (serve) not only as a toy but also as a mental exercise for scholars, requiring 59 (space) reasoning to assemble and disassemble.
Traditional Luban Locks were often made from rare woods like mahogany or sandalwood, 60 surfaces were carved with patterns of clouds or dragons. Craftsmen would spend weeks refining each groove (槽) to ensure precise connection. Modern versions now feature 61 STEM education globally, demonstrating principles of geometry 62 physics.
To solve 63 puzzle, one must rotate (旋转) the sticks at specific angles, applying gentle pressure to avoid damaging the delicate structure. Failure to follow the sequence usually leads to frustrating dead 64 (end). Ironically, this “unlockable” lock symbolizes harmony — only through patience and logic can its pieces coexist 65 (perfect).

Two little girls, Addie and Gracie, neatly dressed as they were going for a pleasant walk and pretty lunch-baskets filled with the nicest of things, started out for a walk up the canyon(峡谷). There was a good road for long distance. Then it branched off right and left. The trees grew taller, the bushes thicker and more twisted and they felt as if they were away off in a little world of their own. How nice it was! Birds came close overhead, and they saw several live squirrels. After gathering a great many flowers and eating lunch, and having had enough walking for a while, they began telling certain fairy stories in which the parties all lived out in the woods.
The day wore along until afternoon, when the canyon began to grow dark very fast. “Do you think we’d better start home?”asked Addie.“I guess it’s early yet. But if you wish we might walk slowly down a little way”, said Gracie. With a show of some reluctance, Addie gathered her treasures together, and they started at a leisurely pace, which somehow was gradually accelerated without the apparent notice.
These children had gone farther up the canyon than they had realized. The many charms had attracted them along and they didn’t feel tired for a long while. Suddenly, a low rumble was heard that increased and seemed to be rapidly coming in their direction.
“It’s raining! Are there any caves?” “Only way up on the side.” “Let’s take hold of hands and run!” “We’d have to drop our flowers.” “I don’t care. Hurry!” Away they went, the wind driving the rain right in their faces. The pretty hats were dripping. The light pink dresses hung straight down, and their shoes were sopping wet. “Do you think our parents will come after us when they know it’s storming up here?”
Addie began to cry.

Should We Use AI When Doing Homework
Is using AI for homework good or bad? There are certainly many disadvantages, but in my opinion, the advantages are much greater.
The first advantage of using AI for homework is its efficiency. Al can quickly gather the needed information, which allows students to analyze the data rather than spending hours searching online. Another advantage is that students can better understand the learning difficulties with the help of AI. For example, with AI breaking down the steps of a solution, students will find it easier to grasp the problem. Finally, AI can provide instant feedback to language-related homework. A few seconds are needed for AI to identify and correct the grammar mistakes in a long article.
In summary, AI can be a useful tool for homework when used as an aid for learning.

Addie bagan to cry. “If it doesn’t stop raining, are we just going to have to spend the night here? I want to go home. I miss my mom and dad!”Tears like beads from the broken line , kept flowing down Addie’s cheeks. “Don’t be afraid! Maybe the rain will stop soon.” Cracie gave her a hug to comfort her. After taking off their wet hats and shoes, the two girls sat quietly in the cave side by side, waiting for the rain to stop anxiously. After a while, it cleared up.
They were about to leave the cave when a figure came into sight, calling their names. “Daddy!” Hearing the voice they were familiar with, they got up immediately and rushed to the mouth of the cave, without putting on their shoes. Sure enough, their dad came! The two girls hugged their dad joyfully and said in a frightened voice, “We will never be separated from you again.” “Honey, dad is here! I am also worried about you! Never can you go so far without parents!” They nodded non-stop and went home happily along with their father.

M: Well, that isn’t in Rome. It’s in a town called Pisa. If you’re going to travel anywhere outside of Rome, I suggest Venice instead. You’d like it a lot because you can travel around in boats there.
W: I’m only in the country for a week, though. Would I have time to get to Venice?
M: I think you could spend two days in Venice and the rest in Rome.
W: Great! I’ll do that.

18.When is usually the most challenging time for the speaker?
A.Prep time. B.Circle time. C.Greeting time.
19.What activity does circle time usually include?
A.Singing songs. B.Reading books. C.Learning math.
20.What does the speaker most probably think of circle play?
A.Boring. B.Important. C.Tiring.
【答案】18.C 19.A 20.B
W: For many preschool teachers, their work is tiring but meaningful. And mine is no exception. Morning is usually the busiest part of the day for a preschool teacher. You may have a bit of prep time, but almost immediately after arriving at work, you’re likely to be greeting children and trying to welcome them to school. That’s the most challenging moment for me because I have to make them excited to be there and feel OK about their parents being away from them. At our school, we start each day with circle time. We typically start by singing songs about greeting the day and each other, and about the seasons of the year. At this time of the day, I find myself really enjoying being around the kids. In elementary or high school, the class is around reading, history, and math. But in preschool, circle time is the meat and potatoes of the day. Although it might appear to be nothing more than singing and dancing, circle play actually helps develop various essential skills. Although my work is tiring, it’s pretty much impossible not to feel happy when you look at children around with big smiles on their faces. Do you agree with me?

【答案】24.A 25.C 26.D 27.C
根据第一段中“By my early 40s, I had exhausted all the hobbies that were supposed to make me feel better about entering middle age. And then, at the height of my desperation, I decided to sign up for a ballet class.(在我40岁出头的时候,我已经尝试了所有本应让我在进入中年时感觉更好的爱好。然后,在我绝望到极点的时候,我决定报名参加一个芭蕾舞班)”可知,作者在中年时尝试了各种爱好,但都没有让她感觉更好,因此她决定尝试芭蕾舞,以寻求新鲜感。故选A。
根据第四段中“When I tried to extend my foot to the side, my teacher reminded me that ballet isn’t about perfection. Rather, he said, it’s about “struggling for perfection”. The idea that my body is still a work in progress encourages me. Ballet is forcing me to rethink my relationship with my body, and instead of noticing only the older age, I am now amazed at what my body is capable of and the changes I’ve seen as I’ve learned to stand with more confidence and courage.(当我试图把脚伸到一边时,我的老师提醒我,芭蕾舞不是关于完美的。
根据最后一段中“Eight years into my ballet classes, I’m what you would call a lifelong advanced beginner. At the age of 50, I focus on my breathing and move my body in ways that always challenge me and remind me of everything that is possible.(上了八年的芭蕾舞课,我就是你们所说的终身高级初学者。

【答案】28.D 29.A 30.D 31.B
根据第一段中“And when people find a breakfast option they like, they generally stick with it, day after day, scientists have found.(科学家发现,当人们找到自己喜欢的早餐选择时,他们通常会日复一日地坚持下去)”可知,人们倾向于重复自己的早餐选择。故选D。
根据第三段中“Researchers analyzed data in which a group of l, 275 American volunteers and a group of 2, 624 French volunteers reported what they ate for different meals to find patterns in meal experiences.(研究人员分析了一组由1275名美国志愿者和2624名法国志愿者组成的数据,这些数据报告了他们在不同的膳食中吃了什么,以发现饮食体验的模式)”可推知,研究者通过让参与者主动汇报饮食情况收集数据,属于问卷调查。故选A。
根据第三段中“The researchers then proposed that psychological (心理的) factors could also map onto circadian rhythms (昼夜节律) to further push people toward certain meal choice. Early in the day, when energy levels are higher, people tend to make practical choice.(研究人员随后提出,心理因素也可以映射到昼夜节律,从而进一步推动人们做出特定的饮食选择。在一天的早些时候,当能量水平较高时,人们倾向于做出实用的选择)”和第四段中“But as the day progresses, and a person’s energy increased and decreased, the importance of practical goals reduces.(但随着时间的推移,一个人的精力增加和减少,实用目标的重要性降低了)”可推知,一天中能量的变化会极大地影响食物选择。故选D。

【答案】32.A 33.C 34.D 35.B
由文章第二段中的“According to a report by the World Economic Forum published in April, 59 percent of men aged 18 to 65 around the world use generative AI at least once a week, compared to 51 percent of women. The gender gap is even wider among younger people:71 percent of men aged 18 to 24 use generative AI weekly, compared with 59 percent of women. (根据世界经济论坛4月发布的一份报告,在全球18岁至65岁的人群中,59%的男性每周至少使用一次生成式人工智能,而女性的这一比例为51%。在年轻人中,性别差异更为明显:18岁至24岁的男性中,71%的人每周使用生成式人工智能,而女性的这一比例为59%。)”可知,作者列出这些数字是为了显示女性对人工智能的接受程度较低。故选A。
由文章第四段中的“In a survey of 486 students, divided by academic performance, researchers found that high-performing female students were more likely to use ChatGPT only when it had been allowed by their professor. (在一项对486名按学业成绩分组的学生进行的调查中,研究人员发现,成绩优异的女学生更倾向于只有在教授允许的情况下才使用ChatGPT。)”可知,成绩优异的女学生更倾向于在得到教授允许的情况下使用ChatGPT。故选C。
34.细节理解题。由文章第五段中的“British psychologist Lee Chambers suggests that the fear of being seen as less capable could add to this way of thinking. “There could be this feeling that if people know that you, as a woman, use AI, it’s suggesting that you might not be as qualified as you are,” he explained. (英国心理学家Lee Chambers认为,担心被视为能力不足可能会加剧这种思维方式。“可能存在这样一种感觉,即如果人们知道作为女性的你使用了人工智能,就意味着你可能没有你所表现出来的那么有能力。”他解释道。)”可知,根据Lee Chambers的说法,女性不愿意使用人工智能的原因是她们担心被别人认为能力不足。故选D。
35.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是由第一段“Increasing your productivity is how ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool from OpenAI, attracts its users. However, despite hopes that the technology will improve efficiency at work, not everyone is on board. (提升工作效率是OpenAI研发的人工智能工具ChatGPT吸引用户的原因。然而,尽管人们期望这项技术能提高工作效率,但并非所有人都接受它。)”和最后一段“For some experts, women’s reluctance to use AI is troubling, as it could lead to technology being designed more for men by the time AI becomes a fully accepted part of society. Others, however, are less alarmed. Danielle Li, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, points out that AI may right now act more as a “digital toy”, and high-achieving women may simply be better at avoiding distraction.

故填made。
故填has served。
故填in。
故填and。
故填the。
