Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a far-off idea. It has entered many parts of our lives, from daily tasks to global fields. At the 2025 Bund Summit (外滩峰会) in Shanghai, different AI products were shown. Some companies showed their advanced (先进的) AI machines, showing how much AI has improved in different fields. For example, a smart rehabilitation (康复) robot was shown, which brings new help to the medical field.
Dr. Demis Hassabis, a top AI scientist and the winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, said at an event in Greece that “learning how to learn” will be the most important skill for young people. He thinks that as AI develops faster, this skill will be more important because it helps people keep up with changing technology. He added that AI can do many things, like dealing with large amounts of data (数据) quickly, but it can’t give people the ability to explore new knowledge on their own.
To keep up with AI’s fast development, students need to develop important skills. These skills include critical (批判性) thinking, managing study time well, and getting used to new technologies. In some schools, students learn to check if AI-collected information is trustworthy—this is a way to practice critical thinking. With these skills, students can do better in an AI-driven future.
Though AI brings much convenience, we shouldn’t depend on it too much. We should see AI as a useful tool, not a replacement for our own thinking. Only then can we make good use of AI while keeping our ability to learn and create.
23.What may be shown at the 2025 Bund Summit in Shanghai?
A.A silk scarf. B.A smart watch. C.A sky lantern.
24.According to Dr. Demis Hassabis, what is the most important skill for young people?
A.Learning how to learn.
B.Getting used to new technologies.

A.Forgettable. B.Changeable. C.Dependable.

C.AI Technologies: To Be Used in More Fields

My grandfather is eighty years old. He always complains about how fast things have changed, and he often says that life used to be better.
Families aren’t the ones the way they used to be. A lot of families have broken up. If husband and wife have problems with their marriage, they no longer stay together. And mothers used to stay at home and take care of their children, but now everyone is busy working. No one has time to look after children at home.
And the cars! No one walks anymore; more and more people drive. We used to walk five miles to school on schooldays, even in winter. But now we don’t. And in school, children don’t have to think anymore. In math class, for example, we used to add, subtract (减), multiply (乘) and divide (除) using our heads. But now kids don’t use their heads anymore; instead, they use calculators (计算器).
Most families have computers now. In the past we didn’t have computers. We didn’t even have lights. My mother used to spend all day cooking in the kitchen. Have you ever seen baristas (咖啡师) making coffee art in the coffee shop? Doing this with tea is much 46 (hard). Han Zheming, a 40-year-old man from Shanghai, learned this skill—called dian cha 47 Chinese.
Over the past six years, Han has 48 (create) nearly 200 patterns with tea and spoons. He knows some people like fast drinks, but he still wants to bring this tradition back to modern life and let more people not mind 49 (watch) the quiet process of dian cha. He says, “Dian cha is not just a skill—it lets people slow down and enjoy tea time 50 (comfortable).” He hopes more people will learn this tradition and feel the fun of making tea art.
Chinese tea culture became popular in the Tang Dynasty and grew even bigger in the Song Dynasty. Back then, tea was 51 (grow) in many parts of China, and many people even said it was a must for their daily meals because they liked 52 (it) unique taste.
Unlike Tang Dynasty tea-brewing (沏茶), Song people loved dian cha. When they poured hot water over fine tea powder (粉) to make a paste (面糊), the blend turned out too thick, 53 they added more hot water while mixing with a bamboo stick. This method later was introduced to 54 (Asia) countries, like Japan, you can see some 55 (similarity) in how matcha is made today.
Thanks to people like Han, the old art of dian cha is getting more attention today, connecting the past and present of Chinese tea culture.

C.Learning to use AI machines well.
25.What does the underlined word “trustworthy” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Forgettable. B.Changeable. C.Dependable.
26.Which of the following could be the best title for the passage?
A.AI Users: To Learn How to Learn
B.AI Tools: To Take the Place of Human Jobs
C.AI Technologies: To Be Used in More Fields
C
But now we don’t often eat home-cooked food. And people talk less to each other than before. They are too busy to talk, too busy to eat, too busy to think.
Life used to be simple, but it isn’t anymore.
27.How does the grandfather feel about life now?
A.He feels it is more convenient.
B.He thinks it’s worse than it used to be.
C.He believes families are happier than before.
28.What does the writer imply (暗示) about the use of calculators in math class?
A.It’s a good way to improve math skills.
B.It is necessary for modern math learning.
C.It makes children less able to think by themselves.
29.Why might people talk less to each other now according to the passage?
A.They are too busy with work and other things.
B.They prefer using computers to communicate.
C.They don’t know how to talk to each other.
30.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The advantages of modern life.
B.The grandfather’s simpler childhood.
C.The changes in life and the grandfather’s view.
