B Last spring, my neighbor Donna and I, both in our seventies, spent several hours in the glorious sunshine enjoying the new season. When it was time to sit down and relax, Donna pulled out her red metal chair from her garage, and I sat on an overturned plastic bucket. It was fun to catch up on the news that we had missed during the long winter indoors. However, over the next few days, it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a bucket which were not quite comfortable. Donna decided we needed a bench. After ruling out unsuitable options from local stores, she found a perfect one online. The next day it arrived. Excitedly, she opened the box and started putting it together. We proudly highfived each other as the pieces joined up and the bench started to look like one. After a few minutes’ assistance from a neighbour, it was assembled. What’s more, it was ideal for two 70-somethings to carry on late afternoon chats. Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors. One day, someone called out from the sidewalk, “What do you do on that bench?” Quick-thinking Donna shouted back, “It’s our ‘Thinking Bench’! We think about important things happening in our lives.” Then, the name gradually evolved — after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought, he declared it a “Decision-Making Bench”; another time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was “meditating (冥想)”, adding yet another name. Last fall, with the temperature falling, our outdoor days come to an end. We were faced with one dilemma — what to do about it in the winter? Well, we sat down and thought and meditated and decided to put it in Donna’s garage for the winter. When I glimpsed it a few times over the next months, the bench sat lonely, holding empty flower pots, and some flat, old boxes. But now after a long winter, spring flowers are ready to bloom in the warm sunshine, and we neighbours are ready to welcome “The Bench” back into our lives. 24. Donna decided to replace the chair and bucket to ________. A. lighten the carrying load B. attract more neighbours C. get better seating for conversations D. adapt to warmer weather 25. How did the bench get its various names? A. From items placed on it. B. From seasonal discussions. C. From Donna’s creative ideas. D. From users’ activities on it. 26. Why are pots and boxes mentioned in the last paragraph? A. To suggest the flowers would soon be planted. B. To describe the bench’s practical use in winter. C. To show the bench was not serving its purpose. D. To explain why the bench needed winter storage. 27. What does “The Bench” represent by the end of the story? A. A symbol of community bonds. B. A marker of individual free time. C. A reminder of the past summer. D. A memory of a valued online order. C Two-thirds of all irrigated(灌溉的) agriculture in the world is likely to be affected in some way by declining glaciers and dwindling snowfall in mountain regions, driven by the climate crisis, according to a UNESCO report. More than 1 billion people live in mountainous regions and, of those in developing countries, up to half are already experiencing food insecurity. That is likely to worsen, as food production in such regions is dependent on mountain waters, melting snow and glaciers (冰川), according to the World Water Development Report 2025. Developed countries are also at risk: in the US, for example, the Colorado River basin has been in drought since 2000, and higher temperatures mean more water falls as rain instead of snow. Rain runs off much faster than melting snow, making dry conditions even worse. The largest three-year loss of glacier mass on record occurred in the past three years, according to separate research from the World Meteorological Organization, with Norway and Sweden among the worst-affected areas. Eastern Africa has lost 80% of its glaciers in places. Glaciers in the Alps, the worst affected in Europe, have shrunk by about 40% over roughly the same period. The decline of glaciers has had a further impact, added Abou Amani, director of water sciences at UNESCO. “Glaciers melting have an impact on the reflectivity of (solar) radiation and that will impact the whole climate system,” he warned. More avalanches(雪崩) will also occur, as rain falling on snow is a major factor behind avalanche formation. Pooling water from melting glaciers can also be released, causing sudden floods in valleys or to people living further down the side of the mountain. These impacts are coming at a time when many food sources are already under pressure. Alvaro Lario, president of the International Fund for Agricultural Development and chair of UN-Water, called for more support for people who live in affected mountain regions. “Water flows downhill, but food insecurity rises uphill. Mountains provide 60% of our freshwater, but the communities that safeguard these vital resources are among the most food insecure,” he said. 28. What does the underlined word “dwindling” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Increasing. B. Wasting. C. Decreasing. D. Changing. 29. What factors contributing to food insecurity are mentioned in the passage? A. Declining glaciers and more avalanches. B. Dry conditions and rain falling on snow. C. Climate impacts and lack of modern irrigation technology. D. Dependence on glacier-fed water and stressed food sources. 30. Why does the author list the figures in paragraph 3? A. To predict future trends of glacier melting. B. To stress the severity of global glacier loss. C. To call for policy in the worst-affected regions. D. To list the decline of glacier in different regions. 31. What is a suitable title for the text? A. Melting Glaciers, Rising Hunger B. Climate Change, Water Shortage C. Threats to Mountain Communities D. Flood Risks from Melting Glaciers D The human interest with watching others — whether through reality TV or overheard drama — is often dismissed as curiosity. But new research suggests this urge may be a social survival tool dating back millions of years. To explore the origins of social curiosity, Laura Lewis, a psychologist at the University of California, and her colleagues studied how human children between four and six years old from San Francisco’s Bay Area and adult chimpanzees responded to certain videos showing members of their respective species. The results show that both groups preferred watching social interactions over scenes involving individuals — even giving away small rewards to see the former. “These findings demonstrate that social information is important, rewarding and valuable for humans and other primate(灵长类)species,” Lewis says. “It suggests that social information was also important for our shared primate ancestors and that for millions of years it has been adaptive for primates to gain social information about those around them.” Another recent study explored peer-watching behavior in long-tailed macaques(猕猴). Both female and male macaques showed more interest in aggressive(好斗的)interactions than in peaceful brushing, and both paid more attention to videos of familiar individuals. The study’s lead author, liesbeth Sterck, a primatologist at Utrecht University, says the latter behavior mirrors the way humans are drawn to the social lives of people they recognize — whether family, friends or movie stars. Interest in aggressive interactions, which are likely to reveal shifts in dominance or signal potential threats, supports findings that humans are especially aware of watching conflict in media. “Keeping track of the power balance in your own group likely has prime value for primates, including humans,” Sterck says. Gillian Forrester, who studies comparative cognition(认知)at the University of Sussex, says social attention is key to maintaining a good reputation. In ancient humans and other primates, reputational damage can bar access to food and mates, cause physical conflict and, in extreme cases, lead to potentially deadly rejection. With so much at risk, primates developed to keep a close eye on group members. “Modern humans maintain this sharp attention to other people’s social interactions as an evolutionary adaptation,” Forrester says — so people watching might just pay off. 32. What did Laura Lewis and her team find in their study? A. Children learned to become more social by watching others. B. Chimpanzees showed more interest in watching individuals. C. Children and Chimpanzees needed rewards to watch videos. D. Children and Chimpanzees preferred watching social scenes. 33. Why are macaques and humans interested in aggressive interactions? A. To chase the latest social trends. B. To discover changes and threats. C. To explore the social lives of friends. D. To demonstrate their power over others. 34. What does Gillian Forrester find about reputational damage? A. It affects human’s ability to find food. B. It is mainly caused by physical fights. C. It can lead to serious results like being excluded. D. It can be avoided as primates value group harmony. 35. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Reality TV satisfies human curiosity. B. Social curiosity is developed in childhood. C. Primates share similar behaviors with humans. D. People-watching has deep evolutionary origins. A smartphone can be a lifeline in a natural disaster. ____36____ Unfortunately, many disasters like wildfires, floods, earthquakes and hurricanes take away the exact things phones rely on to do that work: electricity and cell services. Here are some of the best ways you can get your phone in the best shape to help you. Assume your electricity can go out at any time and plan accordingly. ____37____ If possible, leave them plugged in until the last minute. Also charge any backup batteries and laptops, then make sure all charging cords are collected in one place to take with you. If the power is out, or if you’re no longer someplace with an outlet, you’ll need to make any charges last as long as possible. ____38____ Extreme cold and heat can cause your phone battery to be less efficient and even stop your phone from working. You’ll typically see a warning sign on the screen if this happens. If you can turn it off, don’t turn it back on until it’s back to an acceptable temperature. Whether it’s extreme cold or heat, avoid leaving your phone exposed and don’t leave it in a car. Your friends and family will want to know you are safe and your location in case you aren’t safe. Send your location with everyone over text, so they’ll know where to look if you lose contact. Make sure to include people outside of the disaster zone. If you are using a GPS location-sharing option, don’t just send your current spot one time. ____39____ If you’re struggling to find reliable Internet connections, there are apps that could still help you stay in touch or give you helpful information. ____40____ For example, download the Google Maps information for surrounding areas in case you need to move fast and cell service isn’t available. Put in your main location, hit the three dots in the corner, select Download Offline Map. You can crop the exact area you think you’ll need. A. You should select the option to share it constantly. B. Charge your phone and any additional devices ahead of time. C. Don’t use your phone for a long time when in a natural disaster. D. It can connect you instantly to assistance and real-time resources. E. Most modern phones are sturdy but sensitive to their environments. F. Download and set them up early as part of your disaster preparation. G. If your phone gets wet, shake out any excess water and remove the battery. I was born with a genetic disease that causes severe weakness in my limbs. I had brunch with a friend and picked up my new glasses. All done and headed back on the train. I wanted to yell at a couple of people for their rude behavior, but wisely just sat quietly. An old black gentleman entered the far end of the train car. In worn but neat clothes, he tipped his faded cap and greeted everyone with a warm “Good afternoon, folks.” Most ignored him, with cold blank faces. Then, he started to sing. I didn’t turn my head, but I felt a smile in my soul. Many people ask for money on the train, but I always feel happy when someone offers music instead. It feels like a gift. I let the notes settle in for a second before my eyes wandered. A young boy across from me, maybe ten, watched him, swaying (摇摆) to the rhythm, his mother too distracted by her phone to notice. He started his second song and my heart did a happy dance. “Lean on me, when you’re not strong. I’ll be your friend...” I love that song! Without thinking, I softly sang a little harmony with him. Right away, I decided he could have the $5 bill in my purse. He looked tall and thin, but he had a strong voice and kind energy. Life had clearly been hard for him, but he still stood tall and carried himself with quiet dignity. I rolled the bill tightly and waited for him to make his way to me. He held the overhead bar to steady himself as he inched down the car, pausing briefly beside each seat like he was waiting for a sign — though no one glanced up. No one was making any moves to give him coins or reach for their wallet. Paragraph 1: Somehow, he noticed me singing along. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: It was still hot and sticky inside the car, but something had changed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025年秋学期高三阶段性测试英语试题 11.27 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 How much is the shirt? W: As a kid, I was into so many different things that it made it hard to choose what I wanted to do later in life. What I realized though was that I loved making things. One day I saw a documentary about a jewelry maker and it seemed like the perfect way to link this to fashion, which I’d also got into as a teenager. M: Tell me more about the jewelry you make. W: What I’ve become well-known for is making jewelry that has connections with literature. So people can imagine the tale that inspired it. I generally avoid making it old-fashioned in style as that’s all been done before. I’m not a great fan of highly complex designs, either, as they tend to focus on the detail rather than the overall effect. M: You’re based in a relatively small town. Why is that? W: Maybe it’s because lots of creative people have settled there. 18. What will the topic of this year’s competition be like? A. Serious. B. Relaxing. C. You are all here because you have bravely decided that you want to take part in our annual public speaking competition. The theme of this year’s competition is the pleasure of leisure. Last year if you remember we had a much more serious topic the dangers of climate change. This year we’re hoping to encourage you to talk about how you enjoy yourselves and the importance of having a good time. The speech should last no more than twenty minutes. When you have five minutes left one of our staff members will hold up a sign informing you that your time will soon be up. I’d now like to give you some suggestions. I advise you very strongly not to try to learn your speech by heart. It will make it sound very unnatural. Even worse than this is to write the speech down and then read it out. The best way to prepare is to summarize what you are going to say into keywords and phrases. Write them down in large letters on a piece of paper. Look at your audience during the speech. And remember to take a deep breath before you start and then slow down your speech. Finally l wish the very best of luck to all our contestants. A Here are four online art courses covering color mixing, botanical drawing, and painting the natural world. You will work in watercolor, but exercises apply to all media.(学会混合准确的、令人兴奋的颜色,包括生动、具体的颜色的花朵,明亮、柔和的叶子的绿色,和深邃、微妙的阴影的颜色。 No. 3: Painting the Natural World (Online)中关键句“Watercolor is a fresh, beautiful way to express the beauty of a sunset or the reflection of trees and clouds on a pond.(水彩是一种来表达日落或池塘上树木和云的倒影之美的清新、美丽的方式)”可知,这两个课程都是以水彩作为媒介。 根据No. 2: Botanical Drawing (Online)中“Strong drawing is the base of botanical art. In this class, we will work in pencil, covering the fundamentals of proportions, line, tone, dimensionality, and expression. We will work from live specimens, flowers, seeds, and fruit.(素描是植物艺术的基础。 No. 4: Painting the Stages of Growth in Nature中“Explore growth and change from a new perspective and capture natural transitions through painting outside and in the studio. From buds (花蕾) and new beginnings to full maturation, you will paint the early stages of growth through full development.(从新的角度探索成长和变化,并通过在室外和工作室中绘画捕捉自然的过渡。 C。 B Last spring, my neighbor Donna and I, both in our seventies, spent several hours in the glorious sunshine enjoying the new season. C 25. D 26. C 27. 根据第二段中“However, over the next few days, it turned out that we needed more than a chair and a bucket which were not quite comfortable. 唐娜决定我们需要一张长椅)”以及第二段末句“What’s more, it was ideal for two 70-somethings to carry on late afternoon chats.(此外,这张长椅非常适合两个七十多岁的人在傍晚继续聊天)”可知,换掉座椅是为了获得更舒适的、适合聊天的座位。 根据第三段内容“Soon, the bench attracted other neighbors. One day, someone called out from the sidewalk, “What do you do on that bench?” Quick-thinking Donna shouted back, “It’s our ‘Thinking Bench’! We think about important things happening in our lives.” Then, the name gradually evolved—after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought, he declared it a “Decision-Making Bench”; another time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was “meditating”, adding yet another name.(很快,这张长椅吸引了其他邻居。 根据末段首句“When I glimpsed it a few times over the next months, the bench sat lonely, holding empty flower pots, and some flat, old boxes.(在接下来的几个月里,我几次瞥见这张长椅,它孤零零地待在那里,上面放着空花盆和一些扁平的旧箱子)”可知,长椅冬日里沦为摆放杂物的工具,不再发挥其原本的作用。 根据首段“Last spring, my neighbor Donna and I, both in our seventies, spent several hours in the glorious sunshine enjoying the new season. When it was time to sit down and relax, Donna pulled out her red metal chair from her garage, and I sat on an overturned plastic bucket. It was fun to catch up on the news that we had missed during the long winter indoors.(去年春天,我和邻居唐娜都已年过七旬,我们在明媚的阳光下待了好几个小时,惬意迎接这崭新的季节。 One day, someone called out from the sidewalk, “What do you do on that bench?” Quick-thinking Donna shouted back, “It’s our ‘Thinking Bench’! We think about important things happening in our lives.” Then, the name gradually evolved—after one neighbor sat alone deep in thought, he declared it a “Decision-Making Bench”; another time, when Donna was caught napping, she insisted she was “meditating”, adding yet another name.(很快,这张长椅吸引了其他邻居。 A。 C Two-thirds of all irrigated(灌溉的) agriculture in the world is likely to be affected in some way by declining glaciers and dwindling snowfall in mountain regions, driven by the climate crisis, according to a UNESCO report. Flood Risks from Melting Glaciers 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. B 31. 根据第一段中的“Two-thirds of all irrigated(灌溉的) agriculture in the world is likely to be affected in some way by declining glaciers and dwindling snowfall in mountain regions(世界上三分之二的灌溉农业很可能在某种程度上受到冰川消融和山区降雪量dwindling的影响)”、“driven by the climate crisis(受气候危机驱动)以及后文提到的“山区粮食生产依赖融雪和冰川水”可知,气候危机下冰川在减少,降雪量也应呈现同样的下降趋势,“dwindling”与“declining”(下降的)为同义并列关系,为“减少”的意思。 根据第二段中的“That is likely to worsen, as food production in such regions is dependent on mountain waters, melting snow and glaciers(冰川), according to the World Water Development Report 2025.(据《2025 年世界水资源发展报告》显示,这种粮食不安全状况可能会进一步恶化——因为这些地区的粮食生产依赖于山区水资源、积雪融水及冰川融水)”可知,对冰川融水的依赖是粮食不安全的原因之一;再根据最后一段中的“These impacts are coming at a time when many food sources are already under pressure(这些影响发生在许多粮食来源本就面临压力之际)”可知,对冰川融水的依赖,以及紧张的粮食来源导致粮食不安全。 根据第三段“Eastern Africa has lost 80% of its glaciers in places. Glaciers in the Alps, the worst affected in Europe, have shrunk by about 40% over roughly the same period.(东非部分地区的冰川已消失 80%。而作为欧洲受影响最严重的区域,阿尔卑斯山的冰川在大致相同的时期内缩减了约 40%)”可知,这些数据进一步直观展现了全球冰川流失的严重程度。故选B项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Two-thirds of all irrigated(灌溉的) agriculture in the world is likely to be affected in some way by declining glaciers and dwindling snowfall in mountain regions, driven by the climate crisis, according to a UNESCO report.(根据联合国教科文组织的一份报告,在气候危机的推动下,世界上三分之二的灌溉农业可能会受到冰川消融和山区降雪量减少的影响。)” 故选A项。 D The human interest with watching others — whether through reality TV or overheard drama — is often dismissed as curiosity. D 33. B 34. C 35. 根据文章第二段“The results show that both groups preferred watching social interactions over scenes involving individuals — even giving away small rewards to see the former.(结果显示,两组研究对象都更倾向于观看社交互动场景,而非仅涉及单个个体的画面——甚至愿意放弃小额奖励来观看前者。)” 根据文章第四段“Interest in aggressive interactions, which are likely to reveal shifts in dominance or signal potential threats, supports findings that humans are especially aware of watching conflict in media.(对攻击性互动的关注(这类互动可能揭示支配地位的变化或发出潜在威胁信号),也印证了人类在媒体中尤其关注冲突场景的研究发现。)” 根据文章最后一段“Gillian Forrester, who studies comparative cognition(认知)at the University of Sussex, says social attention is key to maintaining a good reputation. In ancient humans and other primates, reputational damage can bar access to food and mates, cause physical conflict and, in extreme cases, lead to potentially deadly rejection.(苏塞克斯大学比较认知学研究者Gillian Forrester指出,对社交行为的关注是维持良好声誉的关键。在远古人类及其他灵长类动物中,声誉受损可能导致无法获取食物和配偶、引发肢体冲突,极端情况下还可能遭遇致命的排挤。)”可知,Gillian Forrester发现,在远古人类和其他灵长类动物中,声誉受损可能导致无法获取食物和配偶、引发肢体冲突,极端情况下还会导致致命的排挤。故选C。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章第一段“The human interest with watching others — whether through reality TV or overheard drama — is often dismissed as curiosity. But new research suggests this urge may be a social survival tool dating back millions of years.(人类热衷于观察他人——无论是通过真人秀节目还是偶然听到的八卦——这种行为往往被简单归为好奇心。 A smartphone can be a lifeline in a natural disaster. G. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Somehow, he noticed me singing along. He looked up and slowly walked toward me, his eyes shining with surprise and warmth. I slipped the rolled bill into his rough hand, and he gave me a grateful nod. Then, leaning closer, he whispered, “Sing with me, sister.” Without hesitation, I joined him. Our voices blended, his strong and soulful, mine soft but steady. For a moment, the crowded train car felt like a tiny concert hall, filled not with heat and impatience, but with harmony. It was still hot and sticky inside the car, but something had changed. One by one, passengers lifted their heads, listening. The young boy’s swaying turned into clapping, his laughter breaking through the dull silence. A few others began humming along, and even his mother put down her phone. When the song ended, coins and bills appeared in the man’s cap from every direction. He stood taller, pride glowing in his smile, and I felt a quiet joy — proof that even in a weary city, music could open hearts and bring strangers together. 词类激活 行为类 ①走向:walk toward/approach ②交织:blend/mix ③抬起:lift/raise 情绪类 ①温情:warmth/affection ②感激的:grateful/appreciative 【点睛】【高分句型1】He looked up and slowly walked toward me, his eyes shining with surprise and warmth.(运用了“名词+现在分词”的独立主格结构) 【高分句型2】 He stood taller, pride glowing in his smile, and I felt a quiet joy — proof that even in a weary city, music could open hearts and bring strangers together.(运用了that引导的同位语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
