“Look in my eyes. Tell me why.” Have you found yourself listening to “ancient people” online recently?
Creative vloggers (视频博主) are using AI technology to bring famous people from history like Tang Dynasty poets Li Bai and Du Fu “back to life”. These videos have become popular, showing these ancient icons (代表人物) speaking in modern language.
In one video, Du Fu talks about his experience during the An-Shi Rebellion (755-763). In another, Ming Dynasty medical expert Li Shizhen makes fun of modern lifestyles like trying to be healthy by drinking goji berry (枸杞) water but still staying up late.
“The videos make me want to learn more about important ancient people. I didn’t know much about their stories before,” said Wang Jiayi, 15, from Shandong.
The new trend (趋势) isn’t for everyone. The way these ancient people speak, in high voices and always asking questions, annoys some people. “They’re too pushy, which is different from how they really were,” said 14-year-old Wang Shuotong from Jiangsu.

Did you ever imagine flying over the city in an air taxi that has no pilot? Do you believe it can take you from place to place in minutes? It sounds like science fiction, right? Well, not anymore.
An electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL,电动垂直起降) aircraft (飞行器), also known as an air taxi, completed its first inter-city flight in Guangdong on Feb 27. The eVTOL aircraft started its journey from Shenzhen to Zhuhai, completing the 55-kilometer trip in about 20 minutes. This flight is an important development of this exciting new form of transport.
Air taxis use high technology to take off and land vertically like a helicopter, which doesn’t need long runways. Instead of using traditional combustion engines, air taxis use electric motors. These air taxis have propellers placed all over them to help them stay balanced. They also use lithium-ion batteries to store electricity, letting them fly far and fast. With a central command center that keeps an eye on the flight, some of them can fly without a pilot.
There is no doubt that air taxis can help improve heavy traffic, with their direct point-to-point travel saving valuable time for urban people. Except this benefit, as an eco-friendly choice, air taxis produce fewer emissions than traditional cars, improving urban air quality.
However, air taxis also need special places to take off and land, which means they need eVTOL airports called “vertiports”. Now researchers are trying to make full use of the existing (现有的) small airports to serve as “vertiports”. And with plans to fly at low altitudes (纬度)in cities, there’s still much work to be done to keep everyone safe.
26. Why does the author use the questions in paragraph 1?
A. To carry out a survey. B. To show the author's dream. C. To interest readers.
27. What helps air taxis stay balanced?
A. A helicopter. B. Propellers. C. Lithium-ion batteries.
28. What does the underlined word “benefit” mean?
A. Advantage. B. Choice. C. Way.
29. According to the last paragraph, what may next researches focus on?
A. How to fly higher and more safely.
B. How to improve urban air quality.
C. How to fly at low altitudes more safely.
30. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. A new form of transport. B. The history of air taxis. C. The popularity of air taxis.

Joking can be a cheerful thing. However, sometimes people may see it differently. Some people may get hurt if there are too many jokes. When you show you can’t accept the jokes, the jokes might get worse.
We should consider the relationships when joking. Close friends usually enjoy teasing (开玩笑). Healthy teasing can usually make people relaxed. When both sides know it's just joking they can understand each other better. The environment is also important for close relationships. It doesn’t matter when your sister calls your nickname (绰号) at home. However, it’s quite bad when a classmate shouts it out at school.
When making a joke, we often see the funny side of it. But others may see it in a different way. Sometimes we forget the other person may not find it funny. People have different life experiences, so they understand jokes differently. For example, imagine someone not swimming at a pool party. Others might tease him or her about being unable to swim. But maybe that person is just afraid of water. Keep in mind that people may have their own reasons for not seeing the funny side.
It’s a good way to build good friendships by respecting others. In daily life, we should pay attention to our words when playing jokes.

Xia Boen, 14, from Hubei, felt the same. But he was surprised to find that he “remembered almost everything they said about their experiences and achievements” thanks to the speaking style in the videos.
These videos use a more modern way to let ancient people “speak for themselves”. However, “we should be careful with these videos, making sure they are not sharing wrong information,” noted Nanfang Daily.
21. What historical event does Du Fu talk about in the video?
A. Modern lifestyles. B. The Tang Dynasty. C. The An-Shi Rebellion.
22. How does Wang Jiayi feel about the videos?
A. Angry. B. Interested. C. Unclear.
23. What does Wang Shuotong think about the way the ancient people speak in the videos?
A. It is too pushy. B. It is very realistic. C. It is too quiet.
24. Which of the following is mentioned (提到) in the article?
A. Explain how to make historical videos.
B. Compare ancient and modern lifestyles.
C. Introduce a new trend of bringing ancient people “back to life” through AI.
25. What can be inferred (推断) from the article?
A. All teenagers love the videos.
B. The videos are only popular in Shandong.
C. The videos might sometimes share incorrect information.

When both sides know it's just joking, they can understand each other better.
