You can use it to take pictures.” said Mrs. Fogg. “Thanks, Mom,” Finn said, but he couldn’t keep his eyes from rolling. The Foggs spent their first day in Paris at the Louvre Museum. They saw a thousand works of art, including the Mona Lisa. What Finn enjoyed most was watching a lady sketching (画素描) the famous painting. “That’s really cool!” Finn blurted out. “Merci, young man,” she said. “Drawing helps me see what is really there.” Finn asked if they could take a photo together. The woman smiled warmly as he took their picture. Finn found his sister. “You should see this artist,” he told her. Franny was looking at her phone. “Not now,” she said. “I’m reading about Leonardo da Vinci.” The next day, the Foggs ate at an outdoor café near the River Seine. The server brought dessert. “This crème brulee is delicious!” Finn exclaimed. He asked the server to take a picture of him posing with his new favorite dessert. “Oooh, look at this recipe (食谱) for crème brulee,” his mom said, checking her phone. “I’ll make it when we get home.” By the time Mom set her phone down, the waiter had cleared their plates and it was time to leave. On the last day of the trip, the Foggs went to the Eiffel Tower. Finn used his camera to shoot a video of them rising above the city in the glass elevator. “Look, Dad! We can see Notre Dame Cathedral from here.” Mr. Fogg was looking at his phone, however. “Did you know there’s a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas? But it’s only half-size!” Finn sighed. It seems that these pictures are real ones. Siwei Lyu, a computer scientist from America, offers some tips about how to find out whether a picture online is AI-created or not. The first step is to slow down. On social media, it only takes us 13 milliseconds (毫秒) to process a picture. That may be enough to notice what it is, but not enough to think about whether it’s real or not. “Next time we see something interesting or funny, take more time to look and think about it.” Lyu says. Secondly, AI programs are trained to create pictures by looking at a large number of real ones. These programs only know what they’ve been given. They don’t know what details (细节) to pay attention to. This results in problems that are easy to find through careful checks. If there is a person in a picture, Lyu suggests looking at their hands and eyes. Today’s AI programs aren’t good at producing lifelike hands. They may have six fingers, or fingers that are in the same length or look strange. And why the eyes? Humans almost always have circular pupils (圆形瞳孔), but AI often produces strangely shaped shadows in the center of eyes. Light reflecting off (反射) the eyes should also be in the same place on each eye. It’s something that today’s AI tools are still trying to work out. Thirdly, many AI-created pictures also have unnatural smoothness (平滑度) where there should be textures (纹理). Things that should be straight may be curved (弯曲的). You can start looking out for AI-created pictures today. Check first before you believe anything you see! 62.How many tips does the writer introduce to us in the passage? A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five. 63.Why does Lyu suggest looking at hands and eyes of a person in a picture? A.Everyone’s eyes and hands are different. B.AI-created pictures always have unnatural smoothness. C.AI programs are not able to create lifelike hands and eyes. D.Light reflecting off the eyes is in the same place. 64.What can we infer from the text? A.AI-created pictures still have challenging problems for AI to solve. B.AI clearly knows what it should pay attention to when creating pictures C.AI-created pictures can’t have natural smoothness without special training. D.AI can’t create pictures unless they look at a large number of real ones. 65.What does the text mainly talk about? A.Some AI-created pictures. B.Some useful tips. C.Some social media. D.Some research. D One question every coach has heard in their coaching career is this: “Why isn’t my kid playing?” The stupidity of many “win-at-all-cost” coaches in youth sports is well matched by that of “play-my-kid-or-else” parents at the high-school level. When the games start to count, the main reason why your kid isn’t playing is simple: “They’re just not good enough.” “He/she just isn’t fast enough.” “He/she just isn’t strong enough.” Good coaches, however, are not usually that blunt. They are very skillful in not telling what you and I would consider the “truth”. The thing is that many kids know what they’re good at, and what they’re not good at. When it comes to football, for instance, most of the middle-schoolers or freshmen already know the one or two kids who are good enough to play on the varsity team (校队) or to catch the eye of a college admissions officer. Their parents do not. The rest play because they enjoy it, need the discipline, want to belong to a team, have dreamed of it since they were five or six, are trying to make their parents happy, need a varsity sport on their college application, or a mix of the factors above. Some of them don’t have much athletic skill, but make up for it by practicing, by getting stronger and quicker, and with on-field effort. For too many children today are living in a world where they never learn “no”. They don’t know how to deal with disappointment and failure. Nor do they know how to react and move on when they don’t get their own way. It’s awful when your kid isn’t playing. Been there, done that. No reasonable parent wants to see their child hurt. But no one escapes this life unhurt, emotionally if not physically. When these kids move on in life, they are going to get refused when they apply for college, fail to get the job they want, and taste failure and disappointment on different kinds of fronts. Coaches should try to make sure everyone gets some playing time. But that should never come at the cost of other kids who are more talented, try harder or spend more time practicing. No child should ever go out for any team thinking no one can make sure they have a spot or playing time, no matter how loudly their parents complain. In that sense, sports are a true mirror of life. No one is ensured “playing” time in life. For the most part, hard work, effort, planning and desire is rewarded. The benefits can be wonderful. But it’s good to be prepared when it doesn’t work out that way. 66.What does the underlined word “blunt” probably mean? A.Understanding. B.Impatient. C.Serious. D.Direct. 67.The author believes that ________. A.coaches need to ensure every student gets enough playing time B.kids should learn how to face being refused in their life C.parents must help kids escape disappointment and failure D.people can live a life without being emotionally hurt 68.What probably made the author write this passage? A.Parents’ unrealistic views of kids’ playing time. B.Coaches’ mistaken beliefs about varsity teams. C.The public’s doubts about why kids need to play sports. D.Children’s lack of knowledge about the meaning of sports and life. E Evans Wadongo was from a village of Africa. He had to do homework by the light of a kerosene lamp (煤油灯). Evans’ eyes hurt and this made studying difficult. It was common in his village. Many children left school for this reason, so they remained poor for the rest of their lives. Although studying was difficult, Evans was an excellent student and went to a university. He continued to worry about the kerosene lamp. By this time, he realized it was not just bad for schoolchildren but for the whole family. First, it could cause illnesses such as coughs. Also, the light could hurt people’s eyes. Besides, it could lead to fires. Lastly, kerosene was expensive, so families had less money for food. It was difficult to come up with a different kind of lamp that was cheap and good for the environment. Yet Evans did not give up. One day, he had an idea. He could use a small solar (太阳能的) light. Sunlight is free and solar power is good for the environment. Evans built his first solar lamp, and it worked. He began to build more lamps and sent them to local families. An organization heard about this and provided money for him to build more solar lamps. Each lamp only cost $20. However, this was a lot of money for many villagers who only earned around $34 a week, so Evans made sure he kept the cost down. First, Evans used recycled materials. Next, volunteers built the lamps. Finally, people from many countries gave money to his team, so the lamps were usually free. Thousands of people had safe light. Julia, a mother of three, said, “Thanks to Evans, my children have light to read, and I have my own light to cook.” The solar lamps made a big difference. 69.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 1 refer to? A.Leaving school. B.Doing homework. C.Having eye problems. D.Having a bright idea. 70.What is the correct order of the following events according to the passage? ①Evans went to a university.                        ②Thousands of people had safe light. ③Evans’ first solar lamp was invented.               ④Kerosene lamps hurt Evans’ eyes. ⑤Recycled materials were used in the lamps.         ⑥People from many countries gave money. A.④①③⑤⑥② B.④⑥②①⑤③ C.①④⑥⑤③② D.①⑤③④⑥② 71.Why does the writer give Julia’s example in the last paragraph? A.To share Julia’s experience. B.To show Evans’ influence. C.To describe Evans’ feelings. D.To introduce Evans’ invention. 72.What is Evans like according to the passage? A.Polite, talented and humorous. B.Quiet, smart and honest. C.Humorous, clever and friendly. D.Hard-working, loving and creative. F 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题(请注意每小题的词数要求)。 Once a daughter complained to her father that her life was terrible and that she didn’t know how she would make it. Her father took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Once the three pots began to boil, he placed potatoes in one pot, eggs in the second pot and coffee beans in the third pot. He then boiled. After twenty minutes he took the potatoes and eggs out. He then poured the coffee into a cup. Turning to her daughter, he asked, “Daughter, what do you see?” “Potatoes, eggs and coffee,” she replied. “Look closely,” he said, “and touch the potatoes.” She did and noticed that they were soft. He then asked her to take an egg. She found the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to taste the coffee. Its smell brought a smile to her face. “Father, what does this mean?” she asked. 根据“The first step...Secondly...Thirdly...”可知,作者在文中共介绍了三个主要方法。故选B。 63.细节理解题。根据“If there is a person in a picture, Lyu suggests looking at their hands and eyes. It’s something that today’s AI tools are still trying to work out.”可知,AI生成图片在瞳孔反射光等细节上仍存在未解决的难题。故选A。 65.主旨大意题。全文围绕“如何识别AI生成图片”展开,列举了三条实用的方法,属于“有用的小贴士”。故选B。 D One question every coach has heard in their coaching career is this: “Why isn’t my kid playing?” The stupidity of many “win-at-all-cost” coaches in youth sports is well matched by that of “play-my-kid-or-else” parents at the high-school level. 根据“They are very skillful in not telling what you and I would consider the ‘truth’.”可知,好的教练会技巧性地避免说出真相;推断可知blunt表示“直白的,不拐弯抹角的”;选项D Direct“直接的”,与blunt同义。故选D。 67.推理判断题。根据第七段“For too many children today are living in a world where they never learn ‘no’. They don’t know how to deal with disappointment and failure...” Been there, done that...When these kids move on in life, they are going to get refused when they apply for college, fail to get the job they want, and taste failure and disappointment on different kinds of fronts.”可知,当孩子长大,申请大学会被拒、想要的工作得不到,会在各种领域经历失败与失望。结合上述内容推断可知,作者认为孩子应该学会面对生活中的拒绝。故选B。 68.推理判断题。根据“One question every coach has heard in their coaching career is this: ‘Why isn’t my kid playing?’”可知,全文围绕家长质问“为何我的孩子不上场”展开,批评家长忽视孩子实际水平并强调运动应反映现实。故选A。 E Evans Wadongo was from a village of Africa. On the flight home the next morning, Finn sat next to Franny. “That was the best vacation ever,” he said. He was scrolling through his photos and videos. He explained that the potatoes, eggs and coffee beans all faced the same situation. However, the potatoes were hard, but in boiling water, they became soft and weak. The eggs were easily broken, but in the boiling water, they became hard. The coffee beans changed the water and created something new. “Which one are you?” he asked his daughter.
