An Initiative Letter
Let’s Start a “Book Sharing Corner”!
To: Our Classmates, Class 5, Grade 8Date: Nov 7, 2025
Dear classmates,
We love reading. Good books can make us think and learn. But sometimes, buying new books costs a lot of money. We also have many old books on our shelves that we don’t read anymore. So, we have an idea! Let’s make a “Book Sharing Corner” in our classroom.
Here is our plan:
※ Bring a Book: Everyone can bring one or two old books they like. They can be storybooks, science books, or history books. Please make sure the books are clean and not broken.
※ Find a Home: We can use the small bookshelf in the back of our classroom.
※ Borrow a Book: If you want to read a book, just take it. Write your name and the book’s name on the list. Please give it back in two weeks.
※ Share Your Thought: You can put a small note in the book to tell the next reader why you like it.
Why is this a good idea?
·Save Money: We can read more books without buying them.
·Share Joy: Your favorite book can make others happy too.
·Talk More: We can talk about the same book with our friends. This helps us think together.
·Keep it Green: Sharing books is good for the Earth. We use less paper.
This is our corner. Let’s work together to make it great! If you think this is a good idea, please tell us. We can start next Monday!
Let’s share our books and share our world!

To help save the animals in danger before it’s too late, we’ll introduce you to some endangered species (濒危物种) that you need to know about!
When the buying stops, the killing can too!Elephants mostly live in Africa and Asia. But today, they are facing a serious problem: large numbers are being killed for meat and skin, especially for ivory. They are in danger! Only when we stop buying elephant products can we stop the killing and save them. Let’s say NO to sale!
Treat others as you would like to be treated.Green turtles live in the ocean (海洋) and they can live very long lives. However, billions of single-use plastics are dumped into the sea. My shock and surprise disappeared when I understood that this island was my salvation (得救). I began to shout for help to the people on the island. They did not understand me but they understood that I was in difficulty and made signs for me to move towards them. They moved closer and when I was underneath the island, they sent a chair down to me on a chain and pulled me up.
The people on the island were friendly and accepted me but they were incredibly strange. They wore the strangest clothes and they all had their own personal man servant who carried a large balloon on the end of a stick. The servant’s job was to tap (轻拍) his master on his mouth or ear when he needed to speak or listen to something. This was because these masters passed most of their time in intense thought (沉思). They thought about the strangest subjects for hours and hours a day. And as a result they had no sense of practical things in life, such as speaking or listening, or looking where they were going.
I later learnt that this island was called Laputa. Some people took me to speak to the king. When we arrived at his palace, the king was lost in thought and didn’t notice me. I waited for more than an hour until, finally, one of his servants tapped him on the mouth and he spoke.
I didn’t understand their language and could not answer the king. One of the servants tried to tap me on the mouth with his balloon to make me speak. I protested very quickly.
“I know exactly when to speak and listen,” I told them. They understood the sense of what I said. But they thought I was a complete idiot because I did not pass my time in thought, too. Then after dinner, a servant came to teach me their language and tell me about life on Laputa.

It was a week before I saw Captain Nemo again. Every morning, I noticed fresh air coming into the rooms and I knew that the Nautilus had come to the top. I would go out and see the sunrise.
Then I received a note from Captain Nemo. He invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crescent Island. Ned was excited because he thought there he could find a chance to run away. When I saw Captain Nemo the next day, I asked him why he was so interested in Crescent Island. “I thought you preferred the sea.”
“I do,” replied the Captain, “But these forests are under the sea.” During breakfast, he explained that he had made diving suits that used special air tanks. These tanks would allow us to stay under the water for ten hours. He had also made lights that worked in electric batteries. When Ned realized that we were not going onto land for our hunting trip, he decided not to come at all. Conseil and I put on our diving suits, and so did Captain Nemo and one of his men. We stepped into a room and closed the door. The room was filled with water, and another door opened. We went through it, and we were on the sea floor. It was an amazing experience. We were about ten metres under the water. The light from the sun reached us. Everything looked very colourful. We walked over the fine sand and enjoyed the colours of the shells, fish and seaweed. Conseil and I followed Captain Nemo and his man as they crossed a large grassy area. We were going deeper and deeper.
As we were a hundred metres under the water, we could still see quite well. Captain Nemo stopped and pointed to some dark shapes. This was the forest. The “trees” there were giant seaweed (水藻), and all their branches were vertical (垂直的). We could not stop looking at them. Fish swam around the branches like birds in a forest. Small bushes grew under the large seaweed trees. Three hours later, we lay down to rest. I was not hungry, but very sleepy. We all slept and when we woke up, we explored further.

“You showed me where the key was yesterday,” she laughed. “I’ve got it in my pocket. So you ought to show me the door today!”
The robin hopped on to an old climbing plant on the wall, and sang his most beautiful song. Suddenly the wind made the plant move, and Mary saw something under the dark green leaves. The thick, heavy plant was covering a door. Mary’s heart was beating fast and her hands were shaking as she pushed the leaves away and found the keyhole. She took the key out of her pocket, and it fitted the hole. Using both hands, she managed to unlock the door. Then she turned round to see if anyone was watching. But there was no one, so she pushed the door, which opened, slowly, for the first time in ten years. She walked quickly in and shut the door behind her. At last she was inside the secret garden!
It was the loveliest, most exciting place she had ever seen. There were old rose trees everywhere, and the walls were covered with climbing roses. She looked carefully at the gray branches. Were the roses still alive? Ben would know. She hoped they weren’t all dead. But she was inside the wonderful garden, in a world of her own. It seemed very strange and silent, but she did not feel lonely at all. Then she noticed some small green shoots coming up through the grass. So something was growing in the garden after all! When she found a lot more shoots in different places, she decided they needed more air and light, so she began to pull out the thick grass around them. She worked away, clearing the ground, for two or three hours, and had to take her coat off because she got so hot. The robin hopped around, pleased to see someone gardening.

It was a summer, but what a summer.
I once had my own vegetable garden. It was my first and my last since I could never get to the country place often enough to keep my eye on it. Anyway, the second summer, the bugs found us and ate my arugula (芝麻菜). I could see the garden needed more care than I could give it, and I stopped.
But the first season was pure heaven. I still remember sitting in that garden, the fresh air on my face, the silence pouring into my ears. Sometimes I would sing, quietly at first and then louder, which brought a small herd of curious cows trotting (小跑) my way to hang their huge heads over the wire fence 20 feet away, staring at me.
Mostly I was sitting down, picking green beans, boiling them, slapping (拍) on a little butter and salt and eating them without anything else. And wanting to sing opera again because they were so good. I dug below the potato plants, stole a few baby potatoes from each plant, and boiled them too. Just butter and salt. So good.
There was too much food in the late summer. My relatives refused to accept any because they had received a lot from others. The neighbours all grew the same thing I did, so they didn’t need any, and when I took it back to the city, no friends wanted it. They spent their summer weekends in the country and had their own gardens.
I never had another garden after that first one. There was a time when I thought life was too short for all my dreams. The choices were too many, and my heart ached that anything had to end or that I had to choose between one thing and another. How could I live on a farm and also travel around the world? It seemed that life fully enjoyed could only be full of loss.
Nevertheless, nothing was lost. These memories are a permanent (永恒的) part of me. I often relive that one wonderful summer and my amazing vegetable garden as I did while writing about it for you tonight.
Little by little, the truth became okay with me: someone who loves many things can’t make all of them permanent. You have to walk away from one thing so you can have another. Still, I never expected total absence (缺乏) of sense of loss.
And then I got it. That one summer with my fresh, delicious veggies, all that time to sit on the ground for hours and the unexpected company of cows that loved opera had filled a space in my life that had always been empty before that.
But never has it been empty again.

In the film Forrest Gump (《阿甘正传》), there’s a famous saying, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.” The surprise is part of the fun. Now blind box toys (盲盒) are bringing the new magic of surprise to people.
Blind boxes have become popular since they were first introduced from Japan to China in 2014. A blind box toy is hidden inside the same box. You don’t know what will be inside. The toys mainly come from pop culture, such as films, comics and cartoons. According to a Tmall report, the mini-series of Labubu blind box was sold 55,000 in just 9 seconds during the Double Eleventh shopping festival. Most buyers of blind boxes are young people aged 18 to 35.
Blind box toys are popular in part because of their cute looks. The cute cartoon dolls come in small sizes, making them easy to display (展示) almost anywhere. Even if blind boxes are not people’s top choice for decorations, the surprise of opening a blind box also attracts people. It’s the main reason why people buy blind boxes one after another. When people open this little box, they may be disappointed (失望的), but the surprise is part of the fun. People will open more blind boxes and hope for a better outcome.

College students are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT to get quick answers rather than deepen their understanding, a new national survey finds. To understand how college students are using AI tools, researchers asked 1,000 U.S. college students about their habits and found that most use AI for what researchers call “executive help”—seeking fast solutions with very little effort. In contrast, “instrumental help” involves using AI to explain concepts clearly, build skills and support independent learning.
However, the study found that students who receive encouragement from professors to use AI thoughtfully are much more likely to use the technology in ways that support learning. This suggests that teacher guidance plays an important role in shaping how students use AI—not just as a tool for convenience (便利), but as a resource for intellectual (智力发展的) growth.
“The growth of AI has created both optimism (乐观) and anxiety (焦虑),” Aguilar said. “What matters most is making sure that AI use is guided by those who have deep knowledge in their subject areas, and that students aren’t left to work out things alone.”
Another survey of 1,505 teachers from the United States, India, Qatar, Colombia and the Philippines showed widespread concerns about plagiarism (抄袭), reduced creativity and not enough support from schools. Despite these worries, most educators see positive possibilities in AI’s classroom uses. Seventy-two percent said AI helps make routine tasks easier, 73% believe it can improve student results, and 69% said it allows for more personalized (个性化的) learning.
1.What is the main finding about how most college students use AI?
A.They use AI for deep understanding. B.They use AI for creative ideas.
C.They use AI for intellectual growth. D.They use AI for convenience.
2.Why does the author compare “executive help” and “instrumental help”?
A.To show which way is easier for students. B.To show which way helps learning better.
C.To show which way more students choose. D.To show which way needs teacher’s help.
3.Which of the following worries is NOT mentioned in the article?
A.Students may use AI to copy work without thinking.
B.Students might lose their creativity because of AI.
C.Students’ thinking ability may become weaker with AI.
D.Schools may not provide enough support for using AI.
4.Why does the author use numbers in the last paragraph?
A.To make the article more interesting to read.
B.To make his points more believable and strong.
C.To show he is good at using numbers.
D.To make readers remember the information.
5.Where is this article most likely to be published?
A.An educational website. B.A science fiction.
C.The school newspaper. D.A technology ad.
How to make festive gift tags (标签)?
In recent years, zero-waste living has been from fashionable topics to a way of life for many people, including myself. And I’ve got an interesting way to help reduce some of that waste.
Last year, I created some free templates for reusable, zero-waste embroidered (刺绣) gift tags, and I’m excited to stitch (缝) up some more this year. Each one can be made in less than 20 minutes, then reused over and over. Let me show you my steps:
· Print out the gift tag templates, then cut out the design you want to make.
If you’re making the tags in a card, print them directly onto your card stock—but if you’re making them in felt (毛毡), print them onto paper and draw the design onto the felt with tailor chalk.
· Using your sewing needle and embroidery thread, stitch the design on the template using the dots as a guide. It’s best to use a back stitch to create the design.
If you’re stitching them in felt, you can stitch through both the paper template and the felt, then get away the paper at the end. If you’re stitching a card tag, try not to bend or tear the card as you do this. It might take a little practice to get a good feel for it.
· Build up the design until it’s finished, using as many colours of thread as you want.
· Tie off the ends and cut away the extra thread.
· Finally, tie a loop to the top of the tags, and stick the tags to your gifts.
The easiness of these tags makes them the perfect low effort but high effect project. They’re perfect for a relaxing afternoon with friends, or you could sit on the sofa with a festive film and create some. It’s even more fun with a cup of hot chocolate!
1.Why did the writer start making embroidered gift tags?
A.Because it was a fashionable thing to do. B.Because it helped reduce waste in daily life.
C.Because they were cheaper than bought tags. D.Because they were required by friends.
2.What does the word “template” in the passage most probably mean?
A.A kind of special paper for writing. B.A ready-made design used as a guide.
C.A tool for making embroidery easier. D.A material for making beautiful gifts.
3.What is the correct order of making the gift tags?
a. Stitch the design following the dots
b. Print out and cut the template
c. Tie a loop to the top of the tag
d. Tie off the ends and cut extra thread
A.a-b-d-c B.b-d-a-c C.b-a-d-c D.a-d-b-c
4.How does the writer feel about making these gift tags?
A.It is difficult but worthwhile. B.It is interesting but tiring.
C.It is enjoyable and relaxing. D.It is expensive but interesting.

DIY, short for “Do It Yourself,” has become a global trend. It means creating, repairing, or improving things by oneself instead of buying new items or paying someone to do them. DIY projects can be very different, from making home decorations to fixing broken furniture.
First, DIY helps save money. Instead of spending a lot on new products or services, people can use their skills and creativity to make things at a lower cost. For example, repainting old furniture or sewing a handmade bag is much cheaper than buying new ones.
Second, DIY enhances creativity and problem-solving skills. When working on a project, people often need to think creatively to find solutions. This not only makes the brain more active but also brings a sense of achievement once the task is completed.
Moreover, DIY is environmentally friendly. By reusing and recycling materials, we reduce waste and help protect the planet. For instance, turning glass jars into flower vases or using old clothes to make tote bags can minimize unnecessary trash.
In conclusion, DIY is a rewarding activity that saves money, boosts creativity, and benefits the environment. Whether it’s a small craft or a big home improvement project, the joy of creating something with your own hands is truly priceless. So why not start a DIY project today?

One day you pick up your phone for a video call with a friend. Not only can you see his face and hear his voice, but you can also smell the cookies he has just baked. It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but could it actually happen?
Smells are created by tiny particles called molecules (分子) that float through the air and reach your nose. Your nose then sends signals to your brain, which recognizes the smell. So, could your phone send smell molecules to you so that you know what it is?
Think about how your phone screen works. It doesn’t have every color in the world stored inside it. Instead, it uses just three colors to create millions of different hues and shades.
Now imagine something for smells. Scientists are developing digital scent (香味) technology that uses a number of different cartridges (盒;匣), each containing a specific scent. Just like how pixels (像素) mix red, green and blue to create images, these scent cartridges could mix to create different smells. Images on your phone are made of digital codes that represent mix of pixels, and smells are created in the same way.
When you receive a digital scent code, your phone could mix tiny amounts of the different scents from the cartridges to create the desired smell. This mix would then be released through a small vent (通风口) on the phone, allowing you to smell it. With a few cartridges, your phone could create a large number of smells.
Creating such a phone faces more challenges. One is designing a system that can produce thousands of different smells using a few cartridges. And phones will also need to sense scents near them and change those into digital codes, so your friends’ phones can send smells to you. The cartridges should also be easy to refill, and the chemicals in them be safe to breathe.
Even though we’re not there yet, maybe one day you’ll be able to not only see and hear your friend’s birthday party over the phone, but also smell the candles they blew out.
1.How do people smell? Put the following sentences in the correct order.

C.Smell phones send digital scent codes to the brain to make us smell.
D.A powerful system needs to be developed to make smell phones a reality.
It’s easy to think “that will never happen to me,” but natural disasters are becoming both more common (常见) and serious. Millions of families face floods, tornadoes and other natural disasters every year. In Australia, for example, its wildfires from 2019 to 2020 were caused by the high temperature and a drought (干旱). They took away the lives of hundreds of people and billions of animals!
While you can’t stop disasters from happening, you can stay safe during one if you know what to do.
Flood
Floods can happen very suddenly. Flood water can be deeper than it looks. It can carry you away, so stay away! Glass, snakes, and dirty things can be in flood water, so don’t drink it even if you are thirsty.
Tornado
A tornado happens during some storms. If there’s a tornado warning, go someplace, such as a small and sturdy (结实的) bathroom, which is safe from the wind and flying things. Remember to keep away from windows or anything heavy that might fall on you.
Earthquake
You should move away from things that might fall. Get down under something that’s strong if you can’t rush out of the building right away. Protect your neck and head with your arm. If you’re outside, go to an open space. Stay away from trees or anything that might fall over and hurt you.
Bushfire
Bushfires, also known as wildfires, are common across the world during the scorching days. It is important that you try to stay calm. Some fires can start so quickly that they threaten (威胁) homes and people within minutes, so your safest choice is always to leave early.

B.Drink flood water if we are thirsty when a flood happens.
C.Stop moving and wait for other people’s help in a bushfire.
D.Stay under the trees after getting out of buildings in an earthquake.
4.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Why Natural Disasters Happen. B.How to Keep Safe in Natural Disasters.
C.What Natural Disasters Bring to Humans. D.How to Name Different Natural Disasters.
①Did you know that when you surf the web, websites in some countries put secret software on your computer? The software collects a large amount of information about you and sends it to internet companies. The Internet companies sell it to other businesses. Your personal information can also be gathered from social media sites. There are many ways your information can be used.
②First, companies collect your information and record all your online habits. They find out where you live, what websites you visit and what you do online. With this information, they can guess other things about you. For example, they can guess if you are a male or female, how old you are and your interests. The companies use this information to decide which ads are best for you. Two people can go to the same website, but they will see different ads. For example, someone who likes sports could see ads for trainers, and someone who likes films might see ads for a film.
③Your personal information could also be sold. Some companies collect information, so they can sell it to other businesses. A business that collects and sells personal information is called a data broker. When data brokers sell your information, a lot of different companies will know your online habits. Then the companies will advertise products from other websites to you.
④Another way your personal information can be collected is through social media. When your information is on social media, a lot of people can see it. Even if you don’t use social media, a friend might post a picture or video of you with your name on it. Pictures and videos can be shared for free on social media, which is one of the great advantages. However, that same act of sharing could be a problem for your own security (安全). If someone knows too much about you, they steal (偷窃) your identity. Then they can buy things online and post messages while pretending (假装) to be you.
⑤_________. The law is finally changing when it comes to technology. In the European Union, for example, they have introduced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This rule means that internet users can now ask companies to show them what information they have about them and even make them delete it. If other countries do the same, the internet could soon be a much safer place.
1.According to Paragraph 2, what will the companies find by collecting your information?
a. age and hobbies b. online activities c. address d. job
A.b. c. d. B.a. b. d. C.a. c. d. D.a. b. c.
2.Your personal information can be directly collected through the following EXCEPT _________.
A.social media B.websites C.the government D.secret software
3.Which of the following statements is WRONG?
A.Data brokers can make money by selling personal information to other businesses.
B.No one can get your information if your friend posts a video of you with your name on it.
C.According to GDPR, we can ask companies to delete our personal information they have collected online.
D.Different people can see different ads on the same website because their online habits have been gathered.
4.Which sentence is the most suitable for the beginning of the last paragraph?
A.However, it’s not all bad news.
B.Anyway, every coin has two sides.
C.Actually, different people have different opinions.
D.Indeed, people believe things are changing for the worse.
5.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, rainstorms and strong winds, usually make a big difference to human life. They not only cause property (财产) loss but also take away people’s lives.
Strong winds can be very terrible. On March 31st, 2024, strong winds hit Nanchang, Jiangxi province. The strong winds broke the windows into pieces and blew off three people sleeping at home, causing their deaths. What’s worse, more than 1,600 trees were blown down overnight. This deadly disaster was mainly caused by funnelling (狭管效应).
When the earthquake happens, the ground and buildings will shake terribly. In serious situations, buildings may even fall down and will bury people in the ground. Recently, in Taiwan, the most powerful earthquake in a quarter century rocked the island on April 3rd. At least nine people were killed and hundreds of people were hurt.
Another example is rainstorms. They can flood many places. Dubai lies on the coast of the Persian Gulf and in the northeast of the U. A.E. with a long and beautiful coastline. It doesn’t rain a lot. But on April 16th, a big rainstorm hit Dubai. It rained so much in just 12 hours that it was like a year’s worth of rain. The heavy rain flooded roads, shopping malls, and even airports, causing a lot of damage (破坏).
To better deal with natural disasters, we need to make our disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief coordination system (防灾救灾机制) better. Also, people should learn ways to protect themselves when facing natural disasters. But most importantly, we should realize that we are not the master of nature, we need to care about it and respect (尊重) it.
1.How many pieces of news about natural disasters are mentioned?
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
2.What kind of damage can an earthquake probably cause?

In the entire animal world, birds are the only living creatures with feathers. They are warm-blooded, like mammals. There are about 9,000 different kinds of birds living in all parts of the world. They include exotic, colorful birds such as parrots, garden birds such as robins and thrushes, water birds such as ducks, sea birds such as puffins and penguins, and many more. The tiny bee hummingbird is one of the world’s smallest birds. It measures about 2 inches (5cm) from beak to tail and is so light that 17 bee hummingbirds weigh only 1 oz (28g). A bee hummingbird is so small that it could fit in the palm of your hand. The ostrich, which is more than 8 feet (2.5m) tall, is the world’s largest bird, but it cannot fly at all. The ostrich head looks huge in comparison to a tiny bee hummingbird.
① . These birds have large, powerful chest muscles to allow them to flap their wings. Their bones are light, which assists them during flight. Feathers are light, too. They protect the bird’s body and keep it warm. Wing feathers fit together to form a smooth, airtight surface for gliding. Tail feathers provide balance and help the bird steer in midair.
② . A few birds, however, cannot fly. Flightless or nearly flightless birds include ostriches, penguins, and the rare kakapo, a kind of parrot from New Zealand.
Birds do not have teeth, which would be too heavy; instead, they have a strong, light bill, or beak. Most birds, particularly eagles and other birds of prey, have good eyesight and hearing. Their sense of smell, however, is poor.
③ . A bird’s feathers are called its plumage. Some birds, such as the wren and the sparrow, have brown plumage for camouflage. Other birds have plumage with dazzling colors and patterns. It is usually the males that have bright plumage, to help them attract a mate during the breeding season. The distinctive coloring also helps the members of a flock stay together.
Most of the bones in a bird’s skeleton are hollow, with tiny, honeycombed holes, to save body weight. Wings are controlled by powerful muscles attached to the keel, which is a ridge along the edge of the breast-bone.
④ . Most of a bird’s body is taken up by the muscles, heart, lungs, and digestive system. Birds have two stomachs. The first stomach, the crop, stores food; the second, the gizzard, grinds the food to a pulp.
1.Which of the following statements about birds is true?
A.17 bee hummingbirds are not as heavy as 1 oz (28g).
B.Birds are the only living creatures with feathers and fur.
C.Most birds have a poor sense of smell but excellent eyesight and hearing.
D.Birds have heavy bones that make them unable to glide or soar in the air.
2.We’d better put the sentence “Most birds are born masters of flying.” in ______.
A.① B.② C.③ D.④
3.Why do some birds have bright feathers?
A.To protect the bird’s body and keep it warm.
B.To help stay away from the members of a flock.
C.To provide balance and help the bird steer in midair.
D.To catch the mate’s attention during the breeding season.
4.What does the underlined word “hollow” in Paragraph 6 probably mean?
A.Soft. B.Strong. C.Empty inside. D.Smooth-edged.
5.The passage can usually be read in the part of ______ in a magazine.
A.Culture B.Health C.Business D.Nature

Your classmates,

4.词句猜测题。根据“But they thought I was a complete idiot because I did not pass my time in thought, too.”

①Tiny particles reach the nose. ②The brain recognizes the smell.
③The nose sends signals to the brain. ④Tiny particles float through the air.

C.show that it is easier to show colours on the screen
D.introduce the powerful function of future phones
3.Which of the following correctly describes “cartridges”?
A.Three cartridges are needed to make different scents.
B.Cartridges are able to sense scents around the phones.
C.Cartridges create smells according to the digital scent codes.
D.Cartridges play the most important role in making smell phones.
4.Which of the following things CANNOT help people to smell with the phone?
A.Pixels. B.A vent. C.Chemicals. D.Cartridges.
5.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Pixel technology can be used directly to create digital scents.

Bushfire

2.推理判断题。根据①后面的“These birds have large, powerful chest muscles to allow them to flap their wings. Their bones are light, which assists them during flight. Feathers are light, too.”以及“Wing feathers fit together to form a smooth, airtight surface for gliding. Tail feathers provide balance and help the bird steer in midair.”可知,此处与鸟类飞行有关,所以A项正确。故选A。
3.细节理解题。根据“It is usually the males that have bright plumage, to help them attract a mate during the breeding season.”
