Two years ago, I fell down a 12-meter waterfall and broke my pelvis (骨盆). I went from using a wheelchair to using crutches (拐杖), then to walking a block, and finally walking miles. Physical activity became even more important in my life. So why not make it enjoyable? I’ve wanted to learn to skateboard since I was a kid, but most of my time and energy went into dancing. For me, skating was similar to dancing.
On my 35th birthday, I bought my first skateboard. Most of my friends and family thought I was crazy, but only I knew why.
For a long time, I tried learning skating alone. I had no idea what I was doing and always felt awkward when many strangers saw me skating or simply trying to keep my balance. I felt nervous about what others thought, and it often stopped me from practicing.
One day, my friend Monica and I met some of the members of GRLSWIRL, a skateboarding club. They were so friendly that we wanted to join. This club was amazing. Even though everyone there was better than me, they were happy to help and cheered my progress. There, I gradually became more confident.
A big part of skating for me was facing my fear (恐惧) from the accident. Falling is normal in skating, but it was hard for me. But every time I fell, I learned it was okay. I learned that I could get up again. My fear slowly went away. I started skating as therapy (治疗), but it turned into an exciting activity that showed me many new possibilities.

On April 19, 2025, Beijing held the world’s first half-marathon (21 km) for humanoid robots (人形机器人). This special event showed China’s leading role in robot technology. Twenty robots joined in, but only six finished. The winner, “Tiangong”, was 1.8 meters tall and finished in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Scientists used this race to test how robots work in real places like streets, not only in labs.
Beyond competitions, these robots now solve real problems across China. For example, a power line robot can work in very hot or cold places (-40℃ to 80℃) where humans cannot go safely. Now, robot development is growing fast: over 50 Chinese companies received more than 6 billion yuan in financial support this spring, showing strong confidence in this technology!
Global and Chinese companies are racing to develop robots, but there are still challenges. Both Chinese and global companies like Xpeng, BYD, Tesla, and Huawei are building robots. However, experts say that factory robots for simple tasks may come soon, while it will take many more years for home robots to handle difficult housework.
Robots with wheels move easily, but humanoid robots still find it hard to walk or climb stairs. The good news is that new AI technology is improving robots’ “brains”, helping them make decisions faster. Someday humanoid robots might deliver packages, help doctors, or even tutor students with homework in China!

33.What does “financial support” mean in paragraph 2?
A.Money given to companies. B.Help from human workers.
C.Robots fixing power lines. D.Machines working in cold/heat.
34.According to the experts, what can humanoid robots do in the future?
A.Work with people’s help. B.Join in more sports events.
C.Do difficult housework. D.Work in extreme cold.
35.What’s the main idea of the passage?

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。每个选项仅使用一次。
When we talk, we typically expect others to listen with attention. But when someone else is speaking, are we showing them the same politeness?
Listening well doesn’t come naturally to most people. 36 This also means we often don’t really focus (集中) on what people are saying. One way to listen with more care and attention is to practice active listening.
37 Active listening is not only hearing someone’s words but also taking note of their nonverbal (非口头的) communication. 38 By practicing active listening, we can hold onto important information better and show care to others. This useful skill makes others want to discuss things with us.
To get better at active listening, give the speaker your complete attention. 39 Stopping thinking about your phone and clearing your mind of your own thoughts are the first steps. By forgetting those things that could influence you, it’s easier to give your complete attention to the speaker.
Another way to practice active listening is to notice body language. Research shows that 55% of face-to-face communication is nonverbal, 38% vocal (声音的) and 7% words. 40 With that in mind, you can give proper replies like nodding, smiling or looking at them politely.
Now do you know how to listen actively?
根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A.Nonverbal communication can include body language, the tone (语气) and their talking speed.
B.Although this may seem clear and easy to notice and understand, it is easier said than done.
C.When someone is speaking, their body language is giving information, too.
D.Because most of us live in a busy world, we care about certain things and miss the rest.
E.Active listening is focusing on what someone is communicating and giving your understanding.

26.Which of the following is TRUE according to Para 2 (第二段)?
A.The writer didn’t spend much time dancing.

However, experts say that factory robots for simple tasks may come soon, while it will take many more years for home robots to handle difficult housework.

The good news is that new AI technology is improving robots’ “brains”, helping them make decisions faster. Someday humanoid robots might deliver packages, help doctors, or even tutor students with homework in China!

A.The writer didn’t spend much time dancing.
B.The writer used to be a good skateboarder.

a. She fell down a waterfall and got hurt.
b. She bought her first skateboard.
c. She tried to learn skating by herself but felt awkward.
d. She joined a skateboarding club and became confident.
e. She learned to face her fear and found new possibilities in skating.
A.a-b-c-d-e B.b-a-c-e-d C.c-d-a-b-e D.d-e-a-b-c
