In the park, you see a group of people, all looking up at the sky. Without thinking about it, you look upwards, too. Why? Sometimes we feel we are acting correctly when we do the same as others. The more people follow an idea, the better or truer we think the idea is. It’s the social proof (社会认同感) that works.
The scientist Asch carried out an experiment. It shows how social proof can influence us. In a room, a man is shown Line 1, and next to it are three lines (A, B, C). A is longer, C is shorter and B is as long as Line 1. He must tell which of the three lines is as long as Line 1. When the man is alone, he gives the correct answer B.Then, five other men enter the room, and each of them gives the answer C as they were told too. Now the man changes his idea and gives the answer C. Asch got the same result many times among different people.
Why do we act like this? Well, in the past, following others was a way to keep from danger. Suppose that 5,000 years ago you were hunting with friends. Suddenly, they all ran away. Would you have stayed? No, you would have run, too. We are descendants (后代) of those who copied others’ action. It is so deeply planted in our mind that we still use it now.
31.How does the writer lead in the topic at the beginning of the passage?
A.By telling a story. B.By giving an example.
C.By listing a number. D.By showing a map.
32.What does the experiment show according to Paragraph 2?

33.What does the underlined word “It” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A.Running with others. B.Hunting with friends.

Apple came out with its iPhone 17 on September 9th. The “Cosmic Orange” color of the Pro model has caught people’s attention. This color is different from more common ones like white and black.
Colors are more than just visual (视觉的) effects. According to the American Marketing Association, bright colors can make a product seem better, even if the color doesn’t actually change how the product works.
Why is this? According to an article from the University of Leeds, when light enters our eyes, special cells at the back of our eyes react (反应) to different colors and send signals (信号) to the brain. Most signals go to the visual cortex (视觉皮层), where we see pictures. But some are sent to another part of the brain called the hypothalamus (下丘脑). This part controls things in our body, such as temperature and mood.
So, this means colors can change how our bodies feel. For example, blue light can make our blood flow and heartbeat slow down. It can also lower our blood pressure and help us relax, according to the University of Derby in the UK. Orange, on the other hand, wakes up our senses, making it great for catching attention.
However, no color has been shown to increase sales more than others, said researchers at the University of Southern California in the US. Still, successful brands often use colors to create their images. For example, Coca-Cola uses red because it increases heart rate and improves appetite (食欲).
34.Why can colors change how we feel?
A.They react to special cells in our eyes. B.They go directly to the brain’s visual cortex.
C.They make the brain produce more signals. D.They excite not just the visual cortex.
35.How does blue light influence people?
A.It wakes up their senses. B.It increases heart rate.
C.It helps them relax. D.It makes them feel hungry.
36.Why does Coca-Cola use red as its brand color?
A.To make people feel hot. B.To help people find it easily.
C.To build a brand image. D.To control the whole market.
37.What can we infer from the passage about color and sales?
A.Bright colors are the key to higher sales. B.No color is sure to increase sales most.
C.Colors can change how products work. D.Blue should not be used for products.

A.By telling a story. B.By giving an example.
C.By listing a number. D.By showing a map.
32.What does the experiment show according to Paragraph 2?
A.Social proof may change people’s ideas. B.Following others is always right.
C.It’s difficult to carry out the experiment. D.People study better if they are together.
33.What does the underlined word “It” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A.Running with others. B.Hunting with friends.
C.Copying others’ action. D.Doing something different.

Then, five other men enter the room, and each of them gives the answer C as they were told too. Now the man changes his idea and gives the answer C.”可知,实验中,男人自己一个人时能说出正确答案,但另外五人进入房间后,这个人改变了自己的想法。 故选A。
根据“We are descendants of those who copied others’ action. ”可知,我们是那些模仿他人行为的人的后代。所以模仿他人行为深深扎根在我们的脑海中,以至于我们现在还在使用它。“It”指代前文提到的“模仿他人行为”这一现象。故选C。
D
根据“when light enters our eyes, special cells at the back of our eyes react (反应) to different colors and send signals (信号) to the brain. Most signals go to the visual cortex (视觉皮层), where we see pictures. But some are sent to another part of the brain called the hypothalamus (下丘脑).”
根据“For example, blue light can make our blood flow and heartbeat slow down. It can also lower our blood pressure and help us relax”可知蓝光能让人放松,故选C。
根据“Still, successful brands often use colors to create their images. For example, Coca-Cola uses red because it increases heart rate and improves appetite (食欲).”

Using AI tools to learn
AI tools are helpful for students to learn in many ways. Firstly, they can give us useful advice on study problems. For example, when I’m stuck on a math question, AI can provide step-by-step solutions. Secondly, AI can help us check grammar mistakes in English writing quickly.
However, we shouldn’t rely too much on AI. We must think independently and use our own brains. Also, we should check the information AI gives because it may not always be correct.
In my opinion, AI is a great helper, but it can’t replace our own efforts. Only by combining AI with our hard work can we learn better.
