Step 1 Leading in

3.Write down the words and expressions about the topic on the blackboard.
Step 2 Work on 1a
1.Show pictures about pollution in 1a and talk about the pollution with the students.
2.Ask the students to read the words in 1a and write them in the box and add more words.
3.Ask the students to say out their words in each kind of pollution.
Step 3 Work on 1b
1.Read the instructions.Get the students to read the contents in the chart and think of what they will fill in the blanks.
2.Play the recording for the first time.Let the students listen and fill in the blanks.
3.Play the recording a second time.Ask the students to check the answers.Then ask the questions in the chart.Let the students answer with full sentences.
4.Ask more questions to help the students learn more details.Then play the recording for the students to role⁃play the conversation.
Step 4 Work on 1c
1.Show the key words of the conversation.Ask the students to retell the contents in the chart.

2.Ask the students to read aloud the dialog in 1c.Then let them work in pairs to role⁃play the conversation.

1.Use PPT or pictures to show the four kinds of pollution.Get the students to work in groups and have a competition to say words about the pollution one by one.

Step 6 Work on 2c
1.Ask the students to read the conversation in 2c.Then read the listening materials of 2a and discuss in pairs what causes the two kinds of pollution.
2.Let the students work in pairs to make dialogs.
3.Ask three pairs to role⁃play their conversations to the class.
Step 7 Work on 2d
1.Ask the students to think about the question:What are your ideas for solving the air/waste pollution problems?Teach them the new words in the conversation.
2.Make the students read the conversation in 2d quickly and find out the problems about environmental pollution in the conversation.
3.Ask the students to read the conversation again.Ask the students to find the ways to solve the problems of air and waste pollution.
4.Let the students read aloud the conversation after the recording.
5.Teach the students the useful expressions:

6.Let the students role⁃play or read the conversation in pairs until fluently.

2.take、spend、pay和cost都可以表示“花费”,但它们的用法各有不同。
(1)take多表示花费时间,常用于It takes sb.some time to do sth.这一句型中,其中It作形式主语。
(2)spend多表示花费时间和金钱,主语通常是人,常用结构:sb.spend some time/money on sth.;sb.spend some time/money (in) doing sth.。
(3)pay多表示花费金钱,主语通常是人,常用结构:sb.pay some money for sth.。
(4)cost多表示花费金钱,主语通常是物,常用结构:sth.cost (sb.) some money.。
3.make a difference (to...)意为“(对……)产生影响或作用”。
◇教学反思◇
本课时主要讨论了环境污染问题,学生对此有比较深刻的背景知识,很容易产生共鸣。此外,老师在教学过程中应鼓励学生思考如何保护环境、保护人类赖以生存的地球,让学生从身边小事做起,从自己做起,为地球的未来贡献力量。
