①Have you eaten a “China burger” yet? In recent years, “China Burger” fast food restaurants have opened and become more and more popular. Although they go by different names, like Tastien and Ranxiong, they are like McDonald’s, KFC or Burger King, but more Chinese.
②I wanted to try something special from Tastien. So a few days ago, I got a Peking duck burger with a drink.
③When I got my food, I loved the packaging (包装). The paper bag and boxes came in red, white and blue colors. They also had the words “Made in China” on them. The burger is pretty good. It has the Peking duck meat with some cucumber, lettuce and plum sauce. I really like their freshly made bread. It’s better than the bread from other brands. Although the Chinese bread used was not perfect, the China Burger gave people a more Chinese taste. It opens the door for me to try more different burgers. I’d still like to eat more from this and other China Burger restaurants in the future.
④Tastien started selling burgers in 2017, but since then it has grown fast. With its slogan (标语) of “Chinese stomachs (胃) love Chinese burgers,” Tastien now has over 5,400 stores, making it the fourth-largest burger chain in China. A Tastien customer spends just 19 yuan for every meal, far less than that spent at McDonald’s and KFC. And these “Chinese burgers” are often on sale for as little as 7 yuan.

In China, a man with great virtue (美德) is called a true junzi. In Chinese culture, four plants are known as the “four junzi”. We can find them in traditional Chinese art, like Chinese paintings and poems.
The plum tree is famous for blooming (开花) in the dead of winter. People like plum blossoms because they stay strong even in difficult times. Artists started to paint plum blossoms 1,600 years ago.
The orchid grows in mountains. It is named as the fourth of China’s “Ten Famous Flowers”. Because of their elegant postures (优雅的姿态) in the wind, they are praised as symbols of elegance in the hearts of the Chinese people.
These flowers symbolize (象征) perseverance.
The bamboo is thin but strong. It’s a symbol of tolerance (耐力) and open-mindedness. Su Shi once wrote down “Rather eat without meat than live without the bamboo” in his poem to show his love for the bamboo.
Chinese people began growing chrysanthemums more than 3,000 years ago—the strength to get over life’s challenges.

第三节 (共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,完成思维导图并回答问题(注意:46——49小题每空可填一词;50小题10词左右)
Do plants talk to each other? New studies show that they do! Although plants don’t have mouths like humans, they have their own ways to have communication.
Some plants use chemicals (化学物质) to communicate with each other. This happens when insects eat a plant, for example a bean plant. The plant sends out chemicals from the leaves. It is telling other bean plants, “I’m in danger!” When other bean plants smell the chemicals, they start to send out their own, different chemicals. Some of these chemicals can drive the insects away, and others can attract (吸引) bees! Then the bees kill the insects.
More surprisingly, plants also use sounds to communicate. People can’t hear these sounds, but plants are making them. Some plants make sounds with their roots (根). Corn and chili plants do this. They also listen to sounds from other plants. A chili plant can tell if a plant around is helpful or unfriendly. Some trees make sounds when there is not enough water.
Most surprisingly of all, plants can communicate through an amazing network (网络) called “wood wide web”. The “wood wide web” is connected to each other underground by fungi (真菌). These fungi connect the roots of different plants together. Through the “wood wide web”, plants can exchange information with each other. Some trees can even send food to help smaller trees grow.
Scientists are learning more about the ways plants talk to each other. Maybe one day we will be able to “talk” with them.
