At a summer camp in a Southern California suburb, the grandmas were in charge. Every week, they taught a group of 8-to-14-year- olds life skills like how to cook and sew (缝制). “Loneliness is something that seniors are challenged with, and they love having younger people around them,” said Zainab Hussain, a program manager at Olive Community Services, a nonprofit that hosted the camp to bring teens and elderly adults together.
In the camp, a small room was filled with energy as the kids chatted and chewed on snacks. Some grandmas were around and watched, content to just be around the youngsters.
Haqiqah Abdul Rahim, one of the grandmas serving as the instructor for sewing, said many kids don’t learn these skills at school, so they’re filling in a gap. She stood in front of the room at the start of the activity, holding up various tools and explaining what they were. Rahim also didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren because they didn’t live close. “It is heartwarming to be able to interact with those who love being around you,” Rahim said.
The summer camp was held in partnership with the Golden Connections Club, started by14-year-old high school student Leena Albinali. She lived with her grandma but realized other students didn't have the same opportunity to spend as much time with their grandparents. She also learned about ageism (年龄歧视) and other challenges faced by senior adults in one of her classes.
“They treat us like we’re their grandchildren,” Albinali said.“ We share what we know about artificial intelligence and its impact on our lives, and the elders share their life stories and advice. One of the most important things they’ve shared with me is to live in the moment, something that’s taken on new meaning for me — The people we have right now are not going to be with us forever.”
4. What is the purpose of the summer camp?
A. To teach kids life skills. B. To help seniors fight loneliness.
C. To connect generations. D. To educate kids to respect seniors.
5. How does Rahim find her job of teaching sewing in the camp?

B. It offers career options to kids in future.
C. It inspires kids’ interest in her profession.
D. It reminds her to contact her grandchildren.
6. What inspired Albinali to set up Golden Connections Club?
A. Her school’s support. B. Her own experience.
C. Seniors’ common voice. D. Ageism her grandma got.
7. What message does Albinali want to convey in the last paragraph?

C. The wisdom of the seniors’ life experience.
D. The enriching exchange across generations.

Since Glacier (冰川) National Park's creation, it has represented the spiritual treasure ofAmericans with its breathtaking landscapes. But today, climate warming threatens the very emblem of the park, leaving it facing a future in which its name could be cruel ironies(讽刺).
Deep within Glacier National Park, visitors are now met with an amazing sight: a peaceful lake of pale blue water lying among towering peaks. Beautiful as it is, the very presence of this lake is not desired by people. Just a few decades ago, this landscape was entirely frozen. Now the glacier itself is reduced to taking up a small area, sheltered from theSun at the edge of the lake created through its own melting(融化).
The park has already lost 60 percent of its namesake glaciers since the 1850s, and scientists predict their complete disappearance by the century's end. Families from all over theUS and abroad flood to these natural wonders to create memories that will last.
Conserving the national park is one of the rare issues that brings political opponents together in the US. With tens of millions of visitors to these sites every year, it is also an economic necessity. The US government recently announced considerable funds to help. This has issued a challenge to the identity of National Park Service, a US agency brought into existence by a 1916 law that called for the preservation of those treasured sites pristine(处于原始状态的) for the enjoyment of future generations.
“ But it's now pretty clear that it's not achievable in many places,” admits John Gross, an ecologist with the National Park Service climate change response program.“ It's certainly possible that the park could lose the iconic feature for which it has been named.”
The climate crisis has thus brought about a shift in the organization's philosophy: It's acceptable to change a park's natural state to stop its further worsening.
8. What does the underlined word“emblem” in paragraph 1 mean?
A. Symbol. B. Location.
C. Recovery. D. Construction.
9. Why is the new lake in the park mentioned?
A. To highlight the economic value of the park.
B. To serve as evidence of the warming climate.
C. To explain the process of glacier formation.
D. To describe a new popular tourist attraction.
10. What can be learned about the National Park Service?
A. It mainly allows for economic benefits.
B. It shows confidence in restoring the park.
C. It is forced to adjust its protection principle.
D. It is taking measures to limit visitor numbers.
11. Which can be the best title for the text?
A. A New Idea for Park Conservation
B. A Park Is Economically on Thin Ice
C. A Political Agreement on Renaming a Park
D. A Park Might Be at Risk of Redefining Itself
A 9. B 10. C 11. D

根据第一段中的“Since Glacier National Park's creation, it has represented the spiritual treasure of Americans with its breathtaking landscapes. But today, climate warming threatens the very emblem of the park, leaving it facing a future in which its name could be cruel ironies.(自冰川国家公园建立以来,其令人叹为观止的景观便一直是美国人的精神瑰宝。但如今,气候变暖正威胁着这座公园的核心象征,使其未来可能面临名称沦为残酷讽刺的境地。)”可知,“emblem”与前文“represented”相呼应,结合后文“冰川消失导致名称讽刺”,可推断“emblem”指公园的核心“象征”。故选A项。
根据第二段中的“Just a few decades ago, this landscape was entirely frozen. Now the glacier itself is reduced to taking up a small area, sheltered from the Sun at the edge of the lake created through its own melting.(就在几十年前,这片土地还完全被冰雪覆盖。如今,冰川本身已缩小至一小块区域,躲在由自身融水形成的湖岸边缘,避开阳光照射。)”可知,作者提及新形成的湖泊,是为了通过“冰川消融→湖泊形成”的具体现象,证明气候变暖对公园的影响,即作为气候变暖的证据。故选B项。
【10题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中的“This has issued a challenge to the identity of National Park Service, a US agency brought into existence by a 1916 law that called for the preservation of those treasured sites pristine(处于原始状态的) for the enjoyment of future generations.(这一现状对美国国家公园管理局的核心使命构成了挑战。该机构依据 1916 年的一项法律成立,该法律要求将这些珍贵遗址保持原始状态,以供后代享用)”以及最后一段“The climate crisis has thus brought about a shift in the organization's philosophy: It's acceptable to change a park's natural state to stop its further worsening.(因此,气候危机导致该组织的理念发生了转变:为阻止公园进一步恶化,改变其原始状态是可接受的。)”
通读全文,根据第一段“Since Glacier (冰川) National Park's creation, it has represented the spiritual treasure ofAmericans with its breathtaking landscapes. But today, climate warming threatens the very emblem of the park, leaving it facing a future in which its name could be cruel ironies(讽刺).(自冰川国家公园建立以来,其令人叹为观止的景观便一直是美国人的精神瑰宝。
It is important to be mindful of your body language during a job interview. However, body language can be a bit hard to control in a virtual setting. Here are some tips to help you perform well in a video interview.
____12____ This simple action shows that you’re fully focused in the interaction, helping to build a connection much like in-person conversations. If your eyes wander away to something else in your environment, your interviewer might assume that you are distracted. Staring at a tiny dot instead of someone’s face might feel strange, but what truly matters is how you come across to the person on the other side of the screen.
Mind your facial expressions. ____13____ Use it during introductions or when responding to lighthearted moments. It conveys enthusiasm and makes you appear more friendly and welcoming. ____14____ For instance, show confidence and enthusiasm when talking about your accomplishments, and maintain a thoughtful look when answering tough questions.
Pay attention to your posture (姿势). The key is to change between sitting upright and leaning in throughout the interview. ____15____ For example, when the interviewer shares key details about the role or company, a slight lean forward signals heightened interest and attentiveness. If you lean back in your chair, it can give off the impression that you’ re really thrown into the conversation.
Use natural hand gestures. After establishing confident eye contact and maintaining an open posture, adding natural hand gestures can not only get your points across but also convey enthusiasm and boost confidence during virtual interviews. Interestingly, research suggests that hand movements can even aid memory and language recall, making you a better storyteller during interviews. Remember to strike a balance. ____16____
A. Look directly into the camera.
B. Keep gestures visible on camera.
C. Let your expressions naturally match your words.
D. Your hand movements shouldn’t draw too much attention.
E. A warm smile can go a long way in setting a positive tone.
F. What your body is saying is as much as what you’ re actually saying.
G. This variation shows you’ re responding to the flow of the conversation.
A 13. E 14. C 15. G 16. D
根据下文“This simple action shows that you’ re fully focused in the interaction, helping to build a connection much like in-person conversations. If your eyes wander away to something else in your environment, your interviewer might assume that you are distracted. (这个简单的动作表明你在交流中完全专注,有助于建立联结,其效果与面对面交谈十分相似。如果你的视线游离到周围的其他事物上,面试官可能会认为你注意力不集中。)”可知,本段核心围绕“眼神专注”展开,且“this simple action”指代前文提到的具体做法。A选项“Look directly into the camera. (直视镜头。)”是视频面试中实现“眼神专注”的关键动作,“直视镜头”对应下文“目光不游离”,且作为祈使句符合小标题格式,精准概括本段主题,“this simple action”即指代“直视镜头”,逻辑连贯。故选A项。
本段小标题为“Mind your facial expressions. (注意你的面部表情。)”,下文“Use it during introductions or when responding to lighthearted moments. It conveys enthusiasm and makes you appear more friendly and welcoming. (在自我介绍或回应轻松话题时使用它。它能传递热情,让你看起来更友好、更受欢迎。)”中的“it”指代前文提到的某一种具体面部表情。E选项“A warm smile can go a long way in setting a positive tone. (温暖的微笑能在营造积极氛围方面起到很大作用。)”中的“a warm smile”是典型的积极面部表情,与下文“conveys enthusiasm、friendly and welcoming”高度契合,“it”即指代“温暖的微笑”,符合语境。故选E项。
根据上文提到“温暖的微笑”的作用,以及下文“For instance, show confidence and enthusiasm when talking about your accomplishments, and maintain a thoughtful look when answering tough questions. (例如,在谈论自己的成就时要表现出自信和热情,在回答难题时要保持沉思的表情。)”可知,此处强调面部表情应与说话内容和场景匹配。C选项“Let your expressions naturally match your words. (让你的表情自然地与话语匹配。)”作为过渡句,承接上文“微笑”的单一表情建议,引出下文“不同场景对应不同表情”的具体例子,概括了“表情与内容一致”的核心原则,符合逻辑。故选C项。
【15题详解】
根据上文“The key is to change between sitting upright and leaning in throughout the interview. (关键是在整个面试过程中在挺直坐姿和身体前倾之间切换。)”可知,前文提出“坐姿切换”的建议,此空应解释这种切换的意义。G选项“This variation shows you're responding to the flow of the conversation. (这种变化表明你在回应对话的节奏。)”中的“This variation”指代前文“sitting upright and leaning in”的坐姿切换,且下文“when the interviewer shares key details... a slight lean forward signals heightened interest (当面试官分享关键细节时,身体微微前倾表明兴趣浓厚)”举例印证了“坐姿切换呼应对话节奏”的观点,逻辑连贯。
D选项“Your hand movements shouldn't draw too much attention.

故填the。
此处为固定搭配be used to do sth.,意为“被用来做某事”,所以用动词不定式to connect。故填to connect。
故填has survived。

Recently, my work has been incredibly overwhelming — the constant deadlines, endless meetings, and high expectations are really wearing me down, making me lost in life. It’s hard to quiet my mind to focus on anything else. I knew I needed to find a way to manage these emotions before things got worse. I decided to go hiking in a forest near my city to escape from all those that stressed me.
I packed my backpack carefully, making sure I had everything I needed — water, some snacks, and sunscreen to protect my skin from the sun. With everything prepared, I set off, ready for a little adventure.
The forest was more beautiful than I had imagined. Tall, ancient trees stretched high above me, their leaves forming a green roof that let in patches of sunlight. Colorful wildflowers dotted the ground, and the air smelled fresh and earthy. Birds sang sweetly from the branches, and the sound of rustling leaves made the forest feel alive. The peacefulness of nature calmed me down.
I followed a narrow, winding path with fewer hikers, enjoying every moment. The deeper I went, the more magical everything seemed. I was so busy looking at the trees and listening to the birds that I didn’t pay attention to where I was going. Suddenly, I stopped. The trees around me looked strange — different from the ones I had passed earlier. My heart skipped a beat. Obviously, I was lost in nature, just like I was in my life.
The sun was beginning to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. I knew I had to find my way back before it got dark. I tried to remember which direction I had come from, but the forest was like a giant maze (迷宫). Every path I took seemed to lead me in circles. The trees all looked the same.
注意:
(1) 续写词数应为150 个左右;
As it was becoming dark, I realized how serious my situation was.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Just as I was feeling hopeless, I spotted a faint (微弱的) light in the distance.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
As it was becoming dark, I realized how serious my situation was. The forest, once a place of beauty, now felt like a prison. Shadows loomed large, and every sound made me jump. I tried to retrace my steps, but everything looked the same. Panic welled up as I thought about the long, cold night ahead. What if there were wild animals? My hands shook as I fumbled with my backpack, looking for anything that could help. Desperation filled me as the light faded.
Just as I was feeling hopeless, I spotted a faint light in the distance. A glimmer of hope surged through me. I stumbled towards it, branches snagging at my clothes. To my relief, it was a group of fellow hikers. They had set up camp for the night. After listening to my plight, they shared their food and offered me a place to sleep. Their kindness not only saved me from a perilous night but also made me realize that help is often closer than we think, both in the forest and in life’s challenges.

A. It makes up for the lessons at school.
A. The shared challenges facing generations.
B. The curiosity of seniors about technology.
