Recently, she shared an amazing video online, which touched many people’s hearts. The news is this: Her son’s teacher is a perfect match for giving him part of her liver (肝脏), something he needs to live. Four years ago, Jamie moved to a new town. She had few friends, and her son, Bowen, needed all her attention. Then, a teacher named Holly Allgood came into their lives. She brought great kindness, support, and a friendship that would prove to be life-changing. “If you know Holly, you know she is accommodating,” Jamie said. “From the moment we met, she continued to remind me that even on the hard days, we were not alone. She has caught so many of my tears, answered my late calls, and seen our worst moments. I sent my special-needs son to school because I knew Holly would care for him.” When Bowen’s health worsened, Holly did much more than her job required. She visited Bowen, video-called him from the hospital, and supported Jamie through this difficult time. Then came more bad news: Neither Jamie nor her husband could be liver donors (捐赠者). Without thinking twice, Holly offered to be tested as a donor, and she was a perfect match. As Jamie wrote in her moving post, “Holly Allgood isn’t just Bowen’s teacher and our friend, but she is truly our hero. She is taking great risks to give Bowen a chance to live, and I am so thankful that Bowen will always carry a part of her with him.” 4. What can be learned about Jamie before she met Holly? A. What is the purpose of Jamie sharing the video online? A. To explain what autism is. B. To express her thanks to Holly. C. To show Bowen’s health condition. D. To raise money for Bowen’s treatment. C Some high school students in Camarillo are getting a real hands-on education, thanks to a one-of-a-kind farm program. They aren’t just learning about farm animals; They’re raising them! This is the only high school in the country that raises its own animals on site. Addisyn Bolles has been feeding the Great Hambino — her 202- pound pig in person since it was a piglet (猪仔). “I’ve learned a lot from this program. I’ve learned to be responsible for one because you have a whole animal that you have to take care of. I’ve learned how to do that which helps prepare me for so many ways,” said Bolles. “We have a really unique program because we’re one of the few schools that actually do have a farm on our campus…… We’re in the classroom, the students are learning about how to raise livestock (牲畜) and then they can step outside and directly use what they’re learning,” said teacher Breanna Cole. There’s no sleeping in for these students. They are up early, feeding, walking and cleaning their animals in preparation to show them off at the Ventura County Fair. “It seems like a lot of work, and you do put a lot of time and effort into it. But it’s fun at the end of the day especially when you just need some time to cool off,” said Nevach Cornish, a student from the school. To enter the livestock competition, each animal must meet the requirements on size. Getting to the Fair makes all those early morning feedings worth it. “Carp, Santa Paula, Fillmore, they all have one and it’s really cool because at the Fair you get to meet new people, and you can get a connection with them and exchange ideas,” said another student, Julia Santos. This Camarillo high school farm program isn’t just an extra class — it’s a life-shaping experience that turns textbook lessons into real responsibility and joy. It’s the kind of learning more schools should look to, proving education can grow just as strongly on the farm as it does in a classroom. 8. What makes the school unique? A. It has a farm for students. B. It mainly offers lessons about farm animals. C. It develops students’life skills. D. It allows students to raise animals at school. 9. How does the program influence the students? A. They prefer feeding animals to studying. B. They are too busy to develop other hobbies. C. They better understand the meaning of teamwork. D. They have a chance to put what they learn into use. 10. What is the author’s attitude towards the program? A. Supportive. B. Uncaring. C. Doubtful. D. Unclear. 11. What is the text mainly about? A. A popular farm. B. Hands-on education. C. Human-animal relation. D. A livestock competition. D Weighted blankets(毯子), which have been advertised as a solution to anxiety and poor sleep, have gone from a not-well-known tool to a common wellness must-have, with producers saying they’ll bring better sleep and less stress to people. But do they keep these promises? Sleep researchers have used weighted blankets since the 1970s to help children with autism, a kind of mental problem, and adults with sensory problems. They appeared on the market in the1990s, but most were only used by people with special needs. Things changed a lot in recent years. Companies started focusing on what they call “people who feel anxious sometimes”— basically anyone having trouble with modern life’s stress. The ads worked: Time magazine even said the weighted blanket was one of the top 50 “inventions” of 2018. The idea behind weighted blankets is simple. They usually weigh 2 to 13 kilograms— around 10% of your body weight. They use what occupational therapists call “deep pressure stimulation(压力刺激)”. The soft, steady pressure on your body makes you feel like being held. A study of 120 psychiatric patients found that weighted blankets improved sleep quality over four weeks in people with some health problems, like depression , bipolar disorder, anxiety and ADHD. Smaller studies have shown similar results. One found that 63% of adults reported lower anxiety after just five minutes under a weighted blanket, while another study of psychiatric patients found 60% experienced reduced anxiety during their hospital stay. However, these studies all focused on people with mental health conditions, not the general population that companies are now focusing on. There’s not enough evidence(证据) that they do good to common users who don’t have mental health problems. This doesn’t mean weighted blankets are totally useless for healthy people. Shift workers— who have to sleep during the day— might find them helpful. They can fight the known health problems from irregular schedules. Healthcare workers, firefighters and pilots need short, useful naps. These blankets could help them fall asleep faster. If a weighted blanket makes you feel calmer and sleep better, even if it doesn’t work like producers say, that’s still good. Just make sure you know what you’re buying. 12. What do weighted blankets promise to solve? A. Sleeplessness. B. Weight problems. C. Headache. D. Forgetfulness. 13. How does the weighted blanket work? A. By fixing users’ sleeping time. B. By working out users’ body weight. C. By bringing users a pleasant feeling. D. By copying the feeling of sleeping in bed. 14. What does the author think of weighted blankets? A. They are useless for healthy people. B. They will have a very hopeful future ahead. C. They are helpful to certain groups of people. D. They may cause some mental health problems. 15. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. The Science Behind Deep Pressure B. Who gets Most from Weighted Blankets? C Weighted Blankets: From Special Needs to Daily Use D. Do Weighted Blankets Really Live Up to Their Wellness Promises? A person's health is about much more than not falling sick.___16___ If you want to be healthy and fit, you need to follow certain rules. Sweat (汗水) ran down her face and into her shirt. Next to her, Molly’s best friend Bella danced very easily. When she stood on her feet and turned around, her skirt made a smooth line. Everyone on the school dance team said Bella was born to dance. To keep up with that “naturally good “girl, Molly had worn out three pairs of dance shoes. The hard spots on her feet got thicker and thicker. Even during lunch breaks, she stood in front of a mirror to fix how she held her arms. Half an hour later, Bella stopped. She looked at Molly, saying “Do you want to take a break? You should pay attention to your footache.” But Molly responded, “Let’s practice two more sets. Last time the teacher said my pirouettes (旋转) weren’t smooth enough. I want to try again.” Bella didn’t say anything else, but just practiced with Molly patiently. By the time Molly finished a full set of smooth pirouettes, it was getting late. “Great job, Molly!” Molly hugged (拥抱) Bella excitedly. But then she suddenly remembered something, and her smile disappeared. “Oh no! I forgot to check the mail — maybe the acceptance letter from the Dance Academy is here already!” A week earlier, they had sat together at the computer to fill out the application forms. This was their shared dream, a promise to keep dancing together on a more professional stage. “What if we don’t get in? What if … what if only you get in? What will I do?” Molly whispered. Bella said seriously, “I believe you will get in. You practice two more hours every day than me. Your hard work will pay off.” Just at that moment, Bella got an email, saying that she was accepted by the Dance Academy. Molly got more nervous, because she didn’t get the email. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Bella noticed Molly’s sadness and hugged her. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Molly called Bella excitedly as the Dance Academy sent acceptance letters the next year. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一英语 考生注意: 1. How much is the shirt? She faces the challenges of raising a son with autism (自闭症). Recently, she shared an amazing video online, which touched many people’s hearts. The news is this: Her son’s teacher is a perfect match for giving him part of her liver (肝脏), something he needs to live. Four years ago Jamie moved to a new town. A. What does the underlined word “accommodating” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A. Strict. B. Helpful. C. Frank. D. Creative. 6. Why did Holly offer to be tested as a liver donor? A. She wanted to save Bowen’s life. B. Bowen was one of her best students. C. She hoped to set a good example. D. It was a chance to pay back the family. 7. What is the purpose of Jamie sharing the video online? A. To explain what autism is. B. To express her thanks to Holly. C. To show Bowen’s health condition. D. To raise money for Bowen’s treatment. 【答案】4. A 5. B 6. A 7. I’ve learned how to do that, which helps prepare me for so many ways,” said Bolles. 【答案】8. D 9. D 10. A 11. C. Weighted Blankets: From Special Needs to Daily Use D. Do Weighted Blankets Really Live Up to Their Wellness Promises? 【答案】12. A 13. C 14. C 15. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Molly called Bella excitedly as the Dance Academy sent acceptance letters the next year ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Bella noticed Molly’s sadness and hugged her. “Don’t doubt yourself,” Bella said softly. Then she reminded Molly how she practiced pirouettes every lunch break, and that she wore out three dance shoes just to get better, saying that even if only one of them got in, it wouldn’t be the “end”! She promised to Molly that no effort would be wasted and that she would take notes for her at the academy. Hearing those words, Molly calmed down and made up her mind to try again. In the following whole year, Bella encouraged Molly and they practiced together. Molly worked even harder than before, and she filled out the application form again. Molly called Bella excitedly as the Dance Academy sent acceptance letters the next year. “I made it…I really made it! I received the acceptance letter from the Dance Academy.” Molly cried, thinking of the sore feet, the late nights and the times she wanted to stop but didn’t — they all paid off. Bella was more than excited at the good news. They laughed and jumped for joy over the phone. Through that experience, Molly finally realized a truth: Talent may let people move faster, but hard work helps people go more steadily. And those who are willing to stand with you through hardships and chase dreams together are the most precious light in life. 词汇激活 行为类 ①冷静下来:calm down/wind down ②鼓励:encourage/cheer on ③苦练:work harder/practice diligently 情绪类 ①激动:excited/thrilled ②喜悦:joy/delight/happiness 【点睛】[高分句型1] Then she reminded Molly how she practiced pirouettes every lunch break, and that she wore out three dance shoes just to get better, saying that even if only one of them got in, it wouldn’t be the “end”!(运用了how和that引导并列宾语从句以及现在分词短语作状语,清晰展现贝拉对莫莉的肯定与安慰,凸显友谊的温暖) [高分句型2] And those who are willing to stand with you through hardships and chase dreams together are the most precious light in life.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
