1. Teaching Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
(1) understand the structure and usage of imperative sentences (affirmative: base verb + other; negative: Don’t + base verb + other).
(2) distinguish between imperative sentences and other sentence types (You can...).
(3) use imperative sentences to give advice(mainly for writing) or call for action in real-life contexts.
(4) learn to explore fun in busy days, promote positive activities and learn to have fun in the right way, at the right time and place.
2. Teaching focus and difficulties
(1) Teaching focus:
l summarize the structure and usage of imperative sentences:affirmative (base verb + other) and negative (Don’t + base verb + other).

Activity 1: Free talk
Students will guess out the topic.
Then they will have a free talk about what activities they usually do to

Activity 3: Look and say.
1. Students will use “you can...” or other expressions that they have
known to give advice to the dull students at school.
2. Students will also learn to have
fun in the right way by looking at
some improper actions of having fun.

Activity 4: Observe and compare.
1.Students will be led by the teacher to change a way of giving advice
(Introduce the imperatives for the first time.)
2. Then students will learn to change “You can...” into the imperatives.

Students will compare the two types of sentences and discuss to get the form of the imperatives.

1. Students will talk about the problems in the pictures.

Activity 6: Read and fill.
1. Students will complete the poster with the verbs in the box and use
don ,t in the right way.
2. Students will compare the
imperative sentences in the poster
and a group of sentences in the form of “You can...” . They are going to tell which one is better for a poster, and then think about the reasons.
3. Students will view the poster
again and conclude the different parts in the poster including name of the
club, encouraging words, time and place, advice, words to call on
students and contact number.

Students will have about 10 minutes to create a club and make a poster
draft.
Before the group work, students will be clear about the checklist.
After finishing the draft, one student in the group will do a report.
