The Swedeborg School District’s former custodian (监护人) would rather clean classrooms or drive students to class. Except now, her name spreads across the newly named “Claudine Wilson Learning Centre”. At the start of the school year, the small community in central Missouri decided to celebrate Wilson’s more than 30 years of service by naming its K-8 elementary (小学) building in her honour. “I was in shock (震惊). I really didn’t know what was going on,” Wilson said. “It was an honour. It’s very nice that somebody thinks that much of me.” Wilson said she started working for the Swedeborg School District in 1992. The school only needed a custodian to work four hours a day at first, but as the school grew, so did Wilson’s role. She finally took on a list of jobs — students lovingly called Wilson their “bustodian” — like driving the bus, cutting the grass, and even answering the office phones. Wilson has mostly retired (退休) this school year, but she still helps on the bus a few days a week. After more than thirty years, Wilson said the kids are what kept her coming back. “I’m not a hero,” Wilson said. “I’m only here to do what I have to do for the kids.” Dr. Jim Bogle, a leader of the Swedeborg, said he met Wilson many years ago when he worked as a leader for another school. He said they would help each other out, like repairing a broken school roof together. Bogle said it was an easy decision to name the school building after Wilson — and the seven-member school board agreed. Chuck Boren, the current board president, called Wilson the “lifeblood (命脉)” of the school. He said that Wilson treats every student at the school like they were her own. “She’s there for them every day. It goes beyond just her duties as whether it’s custodian or bus driver. She’s very caring and understands the kids well,” Boren said. “She really forms a connection, a special relationship with each kid.” 4. Why was the K-8 elementary building named after Claudine Wilson? A. To honour her long service. B. To attract more students. C. To meet students’ wishes. D. To remember her retirement. 5. How did Wilson feel when learning the building was named after her? A. She felt proud and excited. B. She was surprised and honoured. C. She thought it was impossible. D. She was worried about the attention. 6. What is Dr. Jim Bogle’s attitude towards naming the school building after Claudine Wilson? A. He is doubtful about the decision. B. He thinks it was an unnecessary move. C. He feels angry about the naming. D. He supports the decision wholeheartedly. 7. Which can best describe the relationship between Wilson and the students? A. Uneasy. B. Strict. C. Close. D. Stressful. A 5. B 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“At the start of the school year, the small community in central Missouri decided to celebrate Wilson’s more than 30 years of service by naming its K-8 elementary building in her honour.(在学年开始时,密苏里州中部的小社区决定以Wilson的名字命名其K-8小学教学楼,以表彰她30多年的服务)”可知,为了纪念Claudine Wilson在该学区超过30年的服务,学校决定以她的名字命名这栋K-8小学教学楼。故选A项。 根据第二段中““I was in shock. I really didn’t know what was going on,” Wilson said. “It was an honour. It’s very nice that somebody thinks that much of me.”(“我震惊了。我真的不知道发生了什么,”Wilson说。“这是一种荣誉。有人这么看重我,真是太好了。”)”可知,当得知教学楼以她的名字命名时,Wilson感到震惊和荣幸。故选B项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Bogle said it was an easy decision to name the school building after Wilson — and the seven-member school board agreed.(Bogle说,以Wilson的名字命名教学楼是一个容易的决定,学校董事会的七人也表示同意)”可知,Dr. 根据最后一段中“He said that Wilson treats every student at the school like they were her own. “She’s there for them every day. It goes beyond just her duties as whether it’s custodian or bus driver. She’s very caring and understands the kids well,” Boren said. “She really forms a connection, a special relationship with each kid.”(他说Wilson对待学校里的每个学生就像对待自己的孩子一样。“她每天都在那里为他们服务。这不仅仅是她作为监护人或校车司机的职责。她非常关心学生,也很了解他们,”Boren说。“她真的与每个孩子建立了一种联系,一种特殊的关系。”)”可知,Wilson不仅履行自己的职责,还非常关心和理解学生,与他们建立了特殊的联系,与学生们的关系非常亲密。故选C项。 C Listening to music can make you feel less sick when in a moving car, according to new research — but it depends on the type of song you play. Motion (运动) sickness is feeling sick or like you want to throw up, often when you’re travelling by car, boat, plane or train. Other movement can cause it too. About one in three people are very likely to get motion sickness but almost everyone gets motion sickness if the movement is strong enough. Children between the ages of two and 12 are more likely to feel ill than adults but no one knows why some people struggle (挣扎) with it their whole lives and others don’t. People get motion sickness because their senses are sending different messages to their brains. In a moving car, for example, your eyes tell your brain you’re moving because objects are moving past, but the deep part in your ear (which helps keep you from shaking) tells it you’re sitting still. This can make you feel ill. Led by a brain expert Yilun Li at the Henan Institute of Science and Technology in China, a study chose 30 volunteers, all of whom often got motion sickness. The volunteers were set up with tools so that they felt like they were in a car, and small sensors (传感器) were stuck to their heads to record electrical activity in their brains. Using the sensors, the researchers could watch the volunteers’ brain activity and find when they were motion sick and when they were feeling better. The team divided the volunteers into six groups. Four groups listened to music after a drive that made them feel sick; one group didn’t listen to anything and instead tried to calm themselves with deep thought for one minute; and the other group’s “drive” ended before they started feeling sick. The results showed that happy music helped with motion sickness symptoms (症状) than anything else. Soft music was a close second, followed by passionate (激情的) music. However, sad music actually slowed down recovery. Even people who listened to nothing felt better sooner than those who listened to sad music. The researchers think that personalized music playlists could be the secret to helping people beat motion sickness. It’s certainly worth a try. 8. What causes motion sickness according to the text? A. Travelling alone at a very young age. B. Listening to sad music during travel. C. The long movement of the transport. D. Different messages from senses to the brain. 9. What is the main idea of Paragraph 4? A. Why music influences the brain. B. The history of motion sickness. C. How the study was carried out. D. Volunteers’ feelings after the test. 10. What music is the most useful in lessening motion sickness? A. Sad music. B. Happy music. C. Soft music. D. Passionate music. 11. What is the researchers’ attitude to using personalized music playlists to address motion sickness? A. Supportive. B. Doubtful. C. Uninterested. D. Worried. D 9. C 10. B 11. 根据第三段“People get motion sickness because their senses are sending different messages to their brains.(人们会晕车是因为他们的感官向大脑发送了不同的信息。)” 根据第四段“Led by a brain expert Yilun Li at the Henan Institute of Science and Technology in China, a study chose 30 volunteers, all of whom often got motion sickness. The volunteers were set up with tools so that they felt like they were in a car, and small sensors(传感器) were stuck to their heads to record electrical activity in their brains. Using the sensors, the researchers could watch the volunteers’ brain activity and find when they were motion sick and when they were feeling better. The team divided the volunteers into six groups. Four groups listened to music after a drive that made them feel sick; one group didn’t listen to anything and instead tried to calm themselves with deep thought for one minute; and the other group’s “drive” ended before they started feeling sick.(这项研究由中国河南科技学院的脑科学专家李逸伦主导,选取了 30 名经常晕车的志愿者。 根据第五段“The results showed that happy music helped with motion sickness symptoms (症状) than anything else.(结果表明,欢快的音乐比其他任何东西都更能缓解晕车症状。)” 根据最后一段“The researchers think that personalized music playlists could be the secret to helping people beat motion sickness. It’s certainly worth a try.(研究人员认为,个性化音乐播放列表可能是帮助人们克服晕车的秘诀。这当然值得一试。)”可知,研究人员对使用个性化音乐播放列表缓解晕车持支持态度。故选A项。 D Skychology is an emerging trend (新兴趋势) in wellness, but many have already benefited (受益) from its practices for years without realizing it. Simply put, Skychology includes looking up at the sky, clouds, and birds, offering moments of peace and calm. This simple act can ground persons, allowing them to breathe and be present. If you’ve ever felt calm and relaxed just by looking up at the sky, great! You’ve actually been doing Skychology, and you might even be starting a new trend. Paul Conway, a coaching psychologist (心理学家) and founder of Successful Humans, coined the term. It’s a free and easy form of mental (心理的) health support that anyone can start at once. Whether alone, with a dog, or a friend, all you need to do is step outside and look up. Skychology offers many advantages. It’s a nice and quick activity that doesn’t need technology or others’ help. Given the uncertainties of recent years, finding calm and beauty in the sky is much needed now. Practising Skychology helps with anxiety, supports sleep, and improves overall happiness. It aligns with good psychology, looking at what makes life worth living, improving our quality of life. Moreover, Skychology makes us feel happy and thankful as we look at the huge, seemingly endless sky. Although it may make us feel small compared to the world, it encourages humility (人性) and teaches us to value our environment and our place within them. To practise Skychology, follow these seven steps: Go outside and find a place with a clear view of the sky; stand, sit, or lie down; take deep breaths; look at the sky for 60 seconds; notice what you see and hear; take another deep breath when ready; and acknowledge (承认) how you feel, comparing it to how you felt before. So why not give it a try today? Step outside, find a place with a clear view of the sky, and let the power of Skychology wash over you. 12. What can we know about Skychology from the first two paragraphs? A. It needs special tools and skills. B. It has been popular for years. C. It is a new term created by a psychologist. D. It offers mental health support at once. 13. What do the underlined words “aligns with” in Paragraph 3 mean? A. Matches. B. Goes against. C. Influences. D. Applies to. 14. What is the author’s purpose of writing the text? A. To explain the history of Skychology. B. To encourage people to join a wellness club. C. To compare Skychology with other wellness trends. D. To introduce the idea and advantages of Skychology. 15. What would be the best title for the text? A. The Art of Looking at the Sky. B. The Advantages of Positive Psychology. C. Psychology: A New Trend in Wellness. D. Psychology: An Easy Way to Live. 12. C 13. A 14. D 15. Simply put, Skychology includes looking up at the sky, clouds, and birds, offering moments of peace and calm. This simple act can ground persons, allowing them to breathe and be present.(天空心理学是健康领域的一种新兴趋势,但多年来已有不少人在不知不觉中从其实践中受益。 通读全文以及根据第一段“Skychology is an emerging trend (新兴趋势) in wellness, but many have already benefited (受益) from its practices for years without realizing it. Besides, since you have bought a small backpack suggested above, you won’t have much room for extra things! Take half the clothes you think you will need. ____18____ Don’t always fly direct. The man was wearing a shirt and nice trousers, with a good pair of glasses. He didn’t seem to have noticed Peter’s coming closer. Peter, who had spent five years on the streets, often stole and begged (乞讨) to stay alive. He would approach (接近) a shopper to ask for a handout while offering to carry their heavy bags — only to take some food from the bags as he carried them to their cars. Before he could do the same with this stranger, however, the man turned around and faced him. The man’s name was Jacques Masiko. When he first met Mutabazi, he saw a teenager who was alone, shoeless, and hopeless. He seemed to want to build a connection. He wanted someone to give him a meaningful life. Masiko asked “What is your name?” Peter hesitated (犹豫). It was a dangerous question because no adult had ever asked him that when he was on the streets. Not giving his real name was to protect himself. But this stranger was challenging him to trust an adult. Peter told him his real name at last. Masiko took some food and drinks from his bag and gave them to him. The boy felt uneasy, but he accepted. Whenever Masiko visited in the following months, Peter turned to him for more food. Masiko began asking Peter more questions, offering him chances for a better life. He asked if Peter wanted to go to school or have dinner with his family. Peter felt afraid of these changes but kept saying yes. Masiko sent Peter to a high school near his own house and talked his mother into letting Peter live with them. Peter finds it difficult to get used to the new school life. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Peter changed into a more caring person and began to help his classmates at school. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Peter finds it difficult to get used to the new school life. The classes were challenging, and he felt out of place among the well-dressed students who had grown up with proper education. He often missed the freedom of the streets. At times, he even thought about running away. But every time he saw Masiko’s encouraging smile or heard his kind words, he would hold on. Masiko patiently helped him with his studies and comforted him when he was down, gradually reducing Peter’s worries. And as he slowly got used to this new environment, great changes took place in him. Peter changed into a more caring person and began to help his classmates at school. He noticed that some students struggled with certain subjects, just as he had. Drawing on his own experiences of overcoming difficulties, he offered to help them. He would spend his lunch breaks and free periods explaining ideas and solving problems together. His classmates were surprised by his kindness and willingness to help. And Peter was no longer the lost and hopeless boy but a valuable member of the school community. 词汇激活 行为类 ①习惯:get used to/be accustomed to ②发生:take place/happen/occur ③主动提供帮助:offer to help/volunteer to help 情绪类 ①格格不入的:out of place/uncomfortable ②令人鼓舞的:encouraging/inspiring ③情绪低落的:down/depressed 【点睛】【高分句型1】The classes were challenging, and he felt out of place among the well-dressed students who had grown up with proper education. 2】 He noticed that some students struggled with certain subjects, just as he had.(运用了that引导的宾语从句和as引导的方式状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 机密★启用前 河南新未来2025~2026学年度高一年级11月质量检测 英语 (试卷满分:150分,考试时间:120分钟) 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? B Claudine Wilson doesn’t like to be in the centre of attention. B She was surprised and honoured. A. Uneasy. B. Strict. C. Close. D. Stressful. C Listening to music can make you feel less sick when in a moving car, according to new research — but it depends on the type of song you play. D. Worried. D Skychology is an emerging trend (新兴趋势) in wellness, but many have already benefited (受益) from its practices for years without realizing it. 12. Masiko asked, “What is your name?” Peter hesitated (犹豫). ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
