On April 19, 2025, Beijing E-Town held a special half marathon (马拉松) where humans and robots ran together. Over 9,000 people and 20 robot teams from China joined the 21-kilometer race at 7:30 a.m. This event mixed sports with technology in a creative way.
The robots amazed everyone with their skills. Some were tall like “Iron Man”, while others were light and moved gracefully. To walk on roads, hills, and grass, the robot runners changed their steps and used special tools to keep balance. Teams could swap batteries (电池) in just 10 seconds during the race, helping robots keep moving. Human helpers, like engineers, ran alongside to guide them.
The winner, Tiangong Ultra (1.8 meters tall), finished in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. The second-place robot, N2, kept balance well even in wind. The third-place robot, Xingzhe II (28 kg), moved like a human. Although some robots fell, they quickly stood up, making the crowd cheer.
This event showed how robots and humans can work as a team. Experts called it an important step for robot technology. The race wasn’t just about speed—it encouraged young people to study science and teamwork. As one organizer said. “If humans run marathons to test their physical limits, robots running marathons mark a new start for technology development.”

Today’s students have more ways to learn English than ever before. With the help of the Internet, they can watch videos, play games, and read news in English. But a new study shows that just learning English online is not enough.
A study called “How 15-Year-Olds Learn English” looked at 15-year-old students in five countries. The researchers found that students often use English to search for information online. However, they still have difficulty in speaking and writing English. They are better at reading and listening. Those are the things they often do, like reading news and listening to English songs, especially on the Internet. Students might feel shy when it comes to speaking. And they don’t want to write in English outside of school.
Teachers think that using English online can make students more interested in the language, but it doesn’t help them as much in class. “Some of my students think they are better at English than they really are, so they don’t take school learning very seriously. That can hurt students’ learning and keep them from improving,” one teacher said.
The study also found that textbooks still play a big role in English classes, although students use English a lot online outside of school. Teachers need to think about how to use the Internet and textbooks together to help students learn English better.
47. Because of the Internet, students are better at ________.
A. English speaking and writing B. English speaking and listening
C. English reading and listening D. English reading and writing
48. How did the teacher feel about some of his students’ ideas?
A. Glad. B. Surprised. C. Angry. D. Worried.
49. Which of the following may the writer agree with?

As I stepped into the ninth grade, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders (肩膀). The pressure from schoolwork was like a heavy rock for me. I was too busy with study all the time.
At first, I often stayed awake at night, my mind racing with thoughts of tests. I felt stressed out. My grades began to drop, and I felt unconfident. I decided to take control of my situation. But I was totally wrong. The misunderstanding began at the airport. I was looking for a public telephone to tell my American friend Danny that I had arrived. A friendly old man saw me looking, lost and asked if he could help me.
“Yes,” I said,“I want to give my friend a ring.” “Well, that’s nice,” he said. “Are you getting married? But aren’t too young?”
“Who is talking about marriage (婚姻)?” I replied, I only want to give my friend a ring to tell him I’ve arrived. Can you tell me where there is a phone box?
“Oh,” he said, “There is a phone downstairs.”
When at last we met, Danny explained the misunderstanding to me.

A. Students should just learn English online.
B. Using the Internet can hurt students’ learning greatly.
C. Textbooks are not so important in English classes now.
D. The Internet can’t take the place of the textbooks.

F
As I stepped into the ninth grade, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders (肩膀). The pressure from schoolwork was like a heavy rock for me. I was too busy with study all the time.
At first, I often stayed awake at night, my mind racing with thoughts of tests. I felt stressed out. My grades began to drop, and I felt unconfident. I decided to take control of my situation. I started by creating a study timetable. It balanced my time between schoolwork and leisure (休闲). A few days later, I reached out to my teachers for help, which was a big step for me, and it made a world of difference. Slowly, the rock of anxiety (焦虑) began to lift. I found that by breaking down my tasks into smaller, double pieces, I could get them done one by one. I learned the importance of planning time and asking for help when needed. My grades improved, and more importantly, my confidence grew.
Through this experience, I’ve discovered my ability to work under pressure. I’ve come to understand that it’s okay to ask for help and that facing challenges bravely is the best way to overcome (克服) them.
Now, as I look back, I see that the biggest challenge wasn’t just about my grades or my study habits. I’ve learned that with every challenge, there’s a chance for growth. And that’s a lesson I’ll carry with me, not just through high school, but for the rest of my life.
