I think we can use them to create clothes and help the environment. M: Awesome! Is the process of making clothes complicated? W: In fact, it is rather simple. First, the plastic bottles are washed and cut into small pieces. Then they are melted and shaped into small balls. The balls are melted again to form thread. We can then use the thread to make clothes. M: How many plastic bottles does it take to make a ton of thread? W: It takes 67,000 bottles. This reduces carbon emissions by 4.2 tons and water use by 6.2 tons. M: Amazing. What about the price of the clothes? W: It ranges from 500 to 3,000 yuan. However, the price will fall when more companies follow the sustainability path taken by my business. M: Thank you for letting us know so much. 17. Who found the stone tablet? A. An expert. B. Some villagers. C. A tourist. 18. When was the stone tablet created? A. In the Tang Dynasty. B. In the Song Dynasty. C. In the Han Dynasty. 19. W: A stone tablet dating back to more than 1,000 years ago has been discovered in north China’s Shanxi Province, according to local authorities. The stone tablet was found when villagers were clearing the land north of the ruins of temple. Cultural relics experts later found that it was created in the Tang Dynasty during the reign of Emperor Wenzong, witnessing the rise and fall of the Zhongzhen Temple nearby. The Zhongzhen Temple was built in 594, and served as a place of worship in the following centuries. The stone tablet records Emperor Wenzong’s order at that time to rebuild an ancestral hall inside the temple. The order was carved on a piece of black granite, now damaged at the top and the bottom, but with the two sides still completely undamaged. The remaining 175 characters carved on the stone tablet are from an article about the rebuilding written in 837. The stone tablet carries lots of historical information, including an emperor sending officials to worship at the Zhongzhen Temple. A Home to 40 museums, Basel has the highest concentration of museums in the country. It also has a beautiful Old Town, modern architecture, and the Rhine — an inviting spot to rest a while. Description Basel is Switzerland’s oldest university city. Historic landmarks of the city include the large market square with its richly decorated red sandstone town hall and the late Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. During a walk through the old town, a visit to the “Läckerli Huus” to try the traditional Basel honey cake is well worth your while. Basel is tradition-conscious and open-minded at the same time, a fact born out by several modern buildings designed by renowned architects such as Herzog & de Meuron, Mario Botta, and Richard Meyer. Almost 40 museums make Basel the city with the highest density of museums in the country. Internationally known museums, such as the Basel Art Museum, the museum devoted to the iron sculptor Jean Tinguely, the Fondation Beyeler and the Museum of Cultures attract a great many visitors, as do several galleries and playhouses. Basel is among other things home to the symphony orchestra and the chamber orchestra. Basel is a green city. The Botanical Gardens, the Merian Gärten and the banks of the Rhine are perfect places to relax and stay for a while. You can easily explore Basel on foot or by bike. There are four Rhine ferries that connect Grossbasel with Kleinbasel. Winter Basel is widely regarded as Switzerland’s cultural capital, and with good reason: in this city you will encounter art at every turn, whether you stroll through the beautiful Old Town or visit one of almost 40 museums. What’s more, Basel also features top-class modern architecture just waiting to be discovered on a city tour. Basel’s Christmas market on Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz is considered one of the most beautiful and largest in Switzerland. During the pre-Christmas period, many events and spectacular special exhibitions in the museums also enrich the city’s cultural offerings. Summer Basel’s secret landmark is the Rhine. People relax in the charming buvettes — the lovingly designed, small open-air gastronomic establishments — or let themselves be carried along by the gentle flow in the river. On a hot summer day, there is hardly anything more beautiful than cooling off by swimming in the Rhine while watching the backdrop of the city pass by. 21. What can be inferred about Basel’s cultural scene from the passage? A. It is limited to museums and galleries. B. It primarily focuses on traditional forms of art. C. It is not well-developed compared to other Swiss cities. D. It is diverse, including both traditional and modern forms of art. 22. Why is Basel considered Switzerland’s cultural capital according to the passage? A. Because it is very likely to come across art around in Basel. B. Because it has the most modern architecture in Switzerland. C. Because it hosts the largest Christmas market in Switzerland. D. Because it is home to the largest botanical garden in the country. 23. Where can visitors experience the cool current in Basel? A. The Rhine. B. The Old Town. C. The Botanical Gardens. D. The Basel Art Museum. D 22. A 23. 根据文章第二段“Historic landmarks of the city include the large market square with its richly decorated red sandstone town hall and the late Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. During a walk through the old town, a visit to the “Läckerli Huus” to try the traditional Basel honey cake is well worth your while. Basel is tradition-conscious and open-minded at the same time, a fact born out by several modern buildings designed by renowned architects such as Herzog & de Meuron, Mario Botta, and Richard Meyer.”(城市的历史地标包括装饰华丽的红砂岩市政厅和晚期罗曼-哥特式大教堂的大市场广场。 根据文章第五段“In this city you will encounter art at every turn, whether you stroll through the beautiful Old Town or visit one of almost 40 museums.”(在这个城市,无论你是漫步在美丽的老城区,还是参观近40家博物馆,你都会随处遇到艺术。) 故选A。 根据文章最后一段“On a hot summer day, there is hardly anything more beautiful than cooling off by swimming in the Rhine while watching the backdrop of the city pass by.”(在炎热的夏天,没有什么比在莱茵河中游泳,一边看着城市的背景慢慢过去,一边享受凉爽更美的了。) A。 B Some years ago, I had a friend who got into trouble on the internet. He was writing a book that showed a strong opinion on a controversial topic and had been talking about it on social media. He didn’t have a large following, but activists who opposed his view of the issue began to notice and decided that he needed punishing for wrongthink. Their anger about his work spread the conversation to people who anonymously (匿名地) and deliberately seek to upset others and start fights online — and one thing led to another, some of them began to abuse my friend harshly. “People are telling me to kill myself!” he told me, with desperation in his voice. He started worrying about being doxed. “Do I need private security? Maybe I should move.” Out of curiosity, I asked my friend how much time he was then spending on social media, monitoring all the abuse. “Pretty much all day,” he said. This made sense to him because he felt the severity of the situation demanded his full attention: A threat’s a threat, right? I made one simple suggestion: Delete the apps and stop interacting with social media for a week. He took my advice reluctantly, but over the next few days, he stopped thinking about the trouble so much. By the time he reopened the apps, he found those mean guys had largely moved on to new victims and targets. What my friend learned was that this annoyance, which had seemed very real to him, could be erased almost completely by using two powerful weapons: ______. What works in our internet-based culture can apply equally well to other areas of modern life. Take again this friend of mine for example. After that incident, he started thinking: Were there other areas of his life where the two weapons could work. After getting informed about alcohol use, he changed his perception of drinking and avoided engaging with the substance. He also decided to reevaluate what had been his favorite news organization; he then saw it in a much more questioning light, so he withdrew his attention by unsubscribing. 24. What did those opponents of the author’s friend do? A. They showed a strong opposition against the controversial topic. B. They angrily and publicly opposed that friend’s argument. C They deliberately and secretly triggered online fights. D. They resorted to merciless bullying of that friend. 25. Which of the following may be an act of “doxing” (Paragraph 2)? A. calling someone names B. revealing one’s phone number C. visiting someone personally D. making up some stories 26. What did that targeted man do to survive the attacks? A. He talked with his friends. B. He moved house immediately. C. He ignored the abuse temporarily. D. He opened the app once every week. 27. What might be the weapons mentioned in the last paragraph? A. perception and attention B. friendship and ignorance C. refusal and departure D. disengagement and evaluation 【答案】24. D 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段“Their anger about his work spread the conversation to people who anonymously (匿名地) and deliberately seek to upset others and start fights online — and one thing led to another, some of them began to abuse my friend harshly. “People are telling me to kill myself!” he told me, with desperation in his voice.(他们对他的行为的愤怒情绪将话题引向了那些匿名且蓄意在网上挑起事端、制造冲突的人群当中——由此引发了一系列事件,其中一些人开始对我朋友进行严厉的辱骂。“人们都在叫我自杀!”他带着绝望的语气对我说道)”可知,那些反对作者朋友的人对那位朋友进行了残酷的欺凌。故选D。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段““People are telling me to kill myself!” he told me, with desperation in his voice.(“人们都在叫我自杀!”他带着绝望的语气对我说道)”可知,朋友收到了让他自杀的信息,故doxing涉及隐私泄露导致安全威胁,如泄露电话号码等个人信息,故公开自己的电话号码可能是“曝光个人信息”的行为。故选B。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“I made one simple suggestion: Delete the apps and stop interacting with social media for a week. He took my advice reluctantly, but over the next few days, he stopped thinking about the trouble so much. By the time he reopened the apps, he found those mean guys had largely moved on to new victims and targets.(我提出了一个简单的建议:删除所有应用程序,并停止使用社交媒体一周。他很不情愿地接受了我的建议,但在接下来的几天里,他不再那么在意那些麻烦事了。等到他重新打开这些应用程序时,他发现那些恶毒的人大多已经转向了新的受害者和目标)”可知,那个被攻击的人暂时没有理会那些辱骂的话。故选C。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“I made one simple suggestion: Delete the apps and stop interacting with social media for a week.(我提出了一个简单的建议:删除所有应用程序,并停止使用社交媒体一周)”以及最后一段“After getting informed about alcohol use, he changed his perception of drinking and avoided engaging with the substance. He also decided to reevaluate what had been his favorite news organization; he then saw it in a much more questioning light, so he withdrew his attention by unsubscribing.(在得知有关饮酒的信息后,他改变了对饮酒的看法,并且不再接触这种行为。他还决定重新审视自己曾经最喜爱的新闻机构;之后他从一个更具质疑性的角度看待它,于是便不再关注它,于是取消了订阅)”可知,最后一段提到的“two powerful weapons”对应前文“停止使用社交媒体”(disengagement,脱离)和后文 “重新评估新闻机构并退订”(evaluation,评估)。故选D。 C You might wander leisurely into the Kinder Shop if you happened to be in Carlisle, a city that sits in the county of Cumbria in northwest England. Its windows displayed a range of household items like candles, lamps and chairs. But this shop differs from other shops. Each item in the shop was generously donated by local businesses and priced in terms of volunteer hours that the purchaser would contribute to nearby charities. The suggested number of hours required to purchase each item was clearly displayed on its price tag, Calling itself the Kinder Shop, this store has transformed the concept of kindness into a practical project that genuinely impacts the lives of locals. The nature of the store lies in its devotion to assisting the county’s charitable organizations and community groups, which rely on the invaluable work of volunteers to fulfill their vital missions. The first customer Sara Talebaoui paid for her purchases, including a table and several chairs set for her garden, by volunteering for a total of 24 hours for several local charities. “This is indeed my lucky day. I had had no knowledge of this event before and couldn’t believe it when I was informed that all these lovely things are being offered in a special way, ” Sara told Cumbria Crack. “I am a bit of a history fan, so working for English Heritage is absolutely a golden opportunity for me. ” The Kinder Shop has opened doors for people to participate in charitable activities, enabling them to make a practical impact on their community. Bramble House Hair Salon in the nearby town of Keswick was inspired to host a “pay-with-kindness” day. During the activity, individuals who spent 15 minutes collecting trash in the town center received a free haircut as a gesture of appreciation. “What we thought would be a one-off (一次的) event looks as if it could be the start of something really special,” said Des Moore, CEO of the Cumberland Building Society, “We believe we can take the idea of kindness from Cumbria and spread it all around the UK. ” 28. Which may set the Kinder Shop apart from other stores? A. The various payment methods. B. Long hours of shopping service. C. A non-monetary exchange system. D. Generous discounts for volunteers. 29 What is the main purpose of the Kinder Shop? A. To provide free daily items for those in need. B. To offer employment opportunities to the locals. C. To drive volunteer contributions to local charities. D. To raise funds for the local charitable organizations. 30. How did Sara find her whole experience of getting furniture from the shop? A. It’s satisfying. B. It’s inconvenient. C. It’s boring. D. It’s laborious. 31. What can we infer about the Kinder Shop from the last two paragraphs? A. Its trading mode goes through many changes. B. It competes actively with other businesses. C. It has received the official support. D. Its impact has expanded further. C 29. C 30. A 31. 根据文章第一段“But this shop differs from other shops. Each item in the shop was generously donated by local businesses and priced in terms of volunteer hours that the purchaser would contribute to nearby charities.(但是这家店与其他店不一样。店里每件商品都是有当地企业慷慨捐赠的,并以购买者为附近的慈善机构贡献的志愿者时间来定价的。)”可知,这家店与其他店不同之处就在于店里的商品是由企业捐赠的,商品价格也是由购买者当志愿者的时间来定的,因此为非货币交易,故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第二段“The nature of the store lies in its devotion to assisting the county’s charitable organizations and community groups, which rely on the invaluable work of volunteers to fulfill their vital missions.(该店的本质在于它致力于帮助该县的慈善组织和社区团体,这些组织依靠志愿者的宝贵工作来完成他们的重要任务。)” 根据文章第三段““This is indeed my lucky day. I had had no knowledge of this event before and couldn’t believe it when I was informed that all these lovely things are being offered in a special way, ” Sara told Cumbria Crack. “I am a bit of a history fan, so working for English Heritage is absolutely a golden opportunity for me. ”(Sara告诉Cumbria Crack:“今天是我的幸运日。我之前对这个活动一无所知,当我被告知所有这些可爱的东西都以特殊的方式提供时,我简直不敢相信。我是一个历史迷,所以为英国遗产部门工作对我来说绝对是一个千金的机会。”)”可知,Sara称这是“幸运的一天”,并感谢通过志愿者工作获得这个工作的机会,故可推知她对此是满意的,故选A。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章倒数第二段“Bramble House Hair Salon in the nearby town of Keswick was inspired to host a “pay-with-kindness” day.(附近Keswick镇的Bramble House理发店受到启发举办了“慈善支付日”。)”以及最后一段Des Moore所说的话““We believe we can take the idea of kindness from Cumbria and spread it all around the UK. ”(“我们相信,我们能将这个慈善理念从Cumbria扩展到全英。”)”可知,这家店影响了附近的理发店,且其理念也将扩展到全英,因此它的影响得到了进一步的扩展,故选D。 D There is plenty we don’t know about criminal behavior. Most crime goes unreported so it I hard to pick out trends from the data, and even reliable sets of statistics can be difficult to compare. But here is one thing we do know: those with a biological predisposition to violent behavior who are brought up in abusive homes are very likely to become lifelong criminals. Antisocial and criminal behavior tends to run in families, but no one was sure whether this was due mostly to social-environmental factors or biological ones. It turns out both are important, but the effect is most dramatic when they act together. This has been illustrated in several studies over the past six years which found that male victims of child abuse are several times as likely to become criminals and abusers themselves if they were born with a less-active version of a gene for the enzyme monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) , which breaks down neurotransmitters crucial to the regulation of aggression. Researchers recently made another key observation: kids with this “double whammy” of predisposition and an unfortunate upbringing are likely to show signs of what’s to come at a very early age. The risk factors for long-term criminality-attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, low IQ, language difficulties-can be spotted in kindergarten. So given what we now know, shouldn't we be doing everything to protect the children most at risk? No one is suggesting testing all boys to see which variant of the MAO-A gene they have, but what the science is telling us is that we should redouble efforts to tackle abusive upbringing, and even simple neglect. This will help any child, but especially those whose biology makes them vulnerable. Thankfully there is already considerable enthusiasm in both the US and the UK for converting the latest in behavioral science into parenting and social skills: both governments have schemes in place to improve parenting in families where children are at risk of receiving poor care. Some people are uncomfortable with the idea of early intervention because it implies our behavior becomes “set” as we grow up, compromising the idea of free will. That view is understandable, but it would be negligent to ignore what the studies are telling us. Indeed, the cost to society of failing to intervene-in terms of criminal damage, dealing with offenders and helping victims of crime-is bound to be greater than the cost of improving parenting. The value to the children is immeasurable. 32. It seems that researchers try to explain violent behavior ______. A. in terms of physical environment B. from a biological perspective C. based on the empirical data D. in a strictly statistical way 33. When we say that antisocial and criminal behavior tends to run in families, we mean that ______. A. a particular gene may be passed on in families B. child abuse will lead to domestic violence C. the male victims of child abuse will pass on the tendency D. the violent predisposition is closely related to child abuse 34. Based on the recent observation, what should be done to check the development of antisocial and criminal behavior? A. Boys should be screened for the biological predisposition. B. High-risk kids should be brought up in kindergarten. C. Genes for the risk factors should be accurately determined. D. Active measures ought to be taken at an early age. 35. What does the author emphasize in defending early intervention? A The immeasurable value of furthering the current research. B. The consequences of compromising democracy. C. The relatively easy solution to improving parenting skills. D. The greater cost of failing to tackle the known issue. B 33. A 34. D 35. 根据第二段“It turns out both are important, but the effect is most dramatic when they act together. 根据第二段第一句“Antisocial and criminal behavior tends to run in families, but no one was sure whether this was due mostly to social-environmental factors or biological ones. (反社会和犯罪行为往往在家族中流传,但没人确定这主要是由于社会环境因素还是生物因素。)”以及后文对MAO-A基因遗传性的描述可知,“run in families”在此指特定基因(如 MAO-A)可能通过家族遗传,导致行为倾向的传递。故选A项。 根据第三段“Researchers recently made another key observation: kids with this ‘double whammy’ of predisposition and an unfortunate upbringing are likely to show signs of what’s to come at a very early age. The risk factors for long-term criminality-attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, low IQ, language difficulties-can be spotted in kindergarten. So given what we now know, shouldn't we be doing everything to protect the children most at risk? (研究人员最近进行了另一项关键观察:具有这种‘双重打击’倾向和不幸成长经历的孩子很可能在很小的时候就表现出即将发生的事情的迹象。长期犯罪、注意力缺陷多动障碍、低智商、语言困难的危险因素可以在幼儿园发现。因此,鉴于我们现在所知道的情况,我们难道不应该尽一切努力保护处境最危险的儿童吗?)”可知,早期干预是关键措施。故选D项。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。 根据最后一段“Indeed, the cost to society of failing to intervene-in terms of criminal damage, dealing with offenders and helping victims of crime-is bound to be greater than the cost of improving parenting. (事实上,在刑事损害、与罪犯打交道和帮助犯罪受害者方面不进行干预对社会造成的成本必然大于改善育儿的成本。)”可知,作者强调不采取早期干预的社会成本更高,以此支持干预的必要性。故选D项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Take a moment to notice any sensations in your body right now. When our school announced a new badminton program, David, my classmate and good friend, decided to join it right away. “Badminton? How hard can it be?” I joked and said to David. On the first day, however, my confidence quickly disappeared. My serves were weak; my smashes (扣球) were off-target; my footwork was a mess. Meanwhile, David was a natural. His moves were smooth and powerful, and he improved quickly. Seeing my depressed expression, he encouraged me, “You’ll get better soon.” But I couldn’t help feeling frustrated. Coach Li noticed my struggles and said, “Badminton isn’t just about skill. It’s about persistence, focus, and teamwork. Keep trying, young guy!” A few weeks later, Coach Li made an exciting announcement: There would be a badminton tournament in our school. David and I were paired as a doubles team. He was excited, but I was nervous. “What if I hold us back?” I wondered. During practice, Coach Li gathered us and said, “Remember, badminton isn’t about being perfect on your own. It’s about helping each other and thinking strategically.” His words stayed with me, but I still doubted whether we could succeed. Then, something unexpected happened. While cleaning up the storage room, I discovered an old badminton guidebook filled with clever strategies and tips. I started studying it at night, practicing moves like deceptive serves (假发球) and sharp net shots. “Maybe this can give us an edge,” I thought. On tournament day, the gym was full of excitement. Our early matches were tough, but thanks to David’s skill and my newly learned strategies, we fought hard and won. I used unexpected drops and tricky shots from the book, surprising our opponents. Feeling amazed, David asked me, “Where did that come from?” I just smiled. Each victory boosted my confidence, but I knew the final challenge would be the hardest. The final match was against the school’s top players. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At the decisive moment, the tension reached its peak. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】The final match was against the school’s top players. At first, their smashes were fast, and their placement was precise. Soon, we were falling behind. I felt the pressure building. During a timeout, Coach Li reminded us, “Adapt to the situation. Work together and never give up.” David turned to me and said, “Use what you’ve learned. Let’s fight to the end.” I nodded. When the match continued, I used a trick serve from the guidebook — a high, spinning serve that suddenly dropped. The opponents hesitated, and we scored. This boosted our energy, and we started pushing back. At the decisive moment, the tension reached its peak. Everyone in the gym was quiet as the shuttlecock flew back and forth. Suddenly, the opponents hit a high shot toward the back of the court, far past me. I ran and dove, barely hitting the shuttlecock. It bounced off the net and landed on their side. The crowd cheered as our opponents stood there, shocked. We won the championship! I couldn’t believe it. That moment taught me something I’ll never forget: Badminton is about more than skill. It’s about focus, determination, and never giving up, even when things seem impossible. 词汇激活 行为类 ①落后:fall behind/lag behind ②适应:adapt to/adjust to ③弹起:bounce/spring 情绪类 ①欢呼:cheer/hail ②震惊:shocked/astonished 【点睛】[高分句型1] When the match continued, I used a trick serve from the guidebook — a high, spinning serve that suddenly dropped. B Some years ago, I had a friend who got into trouble on the internet. C. They deliberately and secretly triggered online fights. A. perception and attention B. friendship and ignorance C. refusal and departure D. disengagement and evaluation C You might wander leisurely into the Kinder Shop if you happened to be in Carlisle, a city that sits in the county of Cumbria in northwest England. 29. What is the main purpose of the Kinder Shop? 31 What can we infer about the Kinder Shop from the last two paragraphs? A. Its trading mode goes through many changes. B. It competes actively with other businesses. C It has received the official support. D. Its impact has expanded further. D There is plenty we don’t know about criminal behavior. Take a moment to notice any sensations in your body right now. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $听力考试正式开始。Does Peter know we are having a surprise party for him when he turns thirteen this week?
