When I was a kid, my two cousins and I would take turns staying with my grandparents in Waycross, GA, for a week at a time during summer vacation. We saw them often throughout the year, but we always looked forward to that special week of one-on-one time with them, because they spoiled (宠爱) us with love, not gifts. Both were very special to me, but especially my grandfather, whom I was named after.
He became blind around 20 years of age, yet his blindness never slowed him down. He served as a local official for Ware County for several years, worked in the grocery store, cooked lunch, and washed dishes while my grandmother worked. As a boy, between the ages of 6 and 14, I would watch him closely, studying how he moved around the house from room to room as if he could see. I was impressed by how effortlessly he changed from cooking to washing the dishes, never missing a beat. At the grocery store, customers would give him money, and he would return the correct change and give them exactly what they ordered. He had many friends who visited the grocery store just to talk to him, and I enjoyed helping out, feeling grown-up as I handed customers their drinks and snacks.
It seemed like every time I stayed with them, in the evening we would visit someone who was sick or attend a viewing for someone who had passed away. Despite his blindness, my grandfather never let it slow him down or stop him from working and caring for others. There was just no end to how much he loved everyone. During those weeks, he taught me many lessons that still ring in my ears today. I’m grateful for the time I spent with him. To this day, I dislike hearing someone say, “I can’t do that,” because I knew a blind man who never spoke those words.
4. What does the author think of spending time with his grandparents?
A. Valuable. B. Sad. C. Ordinary. D. Struggling.
5. What can be inferred about the author’s grandfather from paragraph 2?
A. He avoided public places often.

C. Shy and calm. D. Kind-hearted and independent.
7. What lesson did the author learn from his grandfather?
A. Never give up easily.
B. Family is a life jacket in the storm.
C. Don’t talk about your weakness.
D. Kindness is the sunlight the blind can see.
C
“I feel lonely and hopeless,” said Lisa, a bright teenager from a loving home. “It seems that nobody wants to become my friend. What’s wrong with me?”
Like Lisa, many of us experience loneliness. The truth is that all people, no matter what their age or character — even the most outgoing, rich and popular — experience loneliness at least sometimes. It’s healthy and natural to want to be around people who care about us. After all, we’ve all heard “No man is an island.” That’s true. We all need others in our lives.
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, explains that if we want friends, we must be friendly and reach out to others. But it has risks. Because we are often afraid of rejection (拒绝), many of us are unwilling to reach out to others. We take a safer way and wait for others to make friends with us. But if we want friends, we’ve got to get beyond this.
If making friends is your goal as well, you need to consider taking some measures.
Be willing to take the initiative (主动). If you see someone whom you would like to know, don’t wait for them to make the first move. Get close to them and begin a conversation. Let them know in a friendly way that you are interested in being friends with them.
Reach out to those who are lonely. When you see someone at school sitting alone, go over and talk to them. And don’t let popularity decide whom you reach out to. You’ll often be surprised at the beautiful qualities behind a shy appearance. Ask questions. Start your first conversation by asking this possible friend what he or she likes to do or asking about their family. Be sure to ask questions that cannot be replied with “yes” or “no”. For example, don’t ask “Do you have a dog?” Instead, say “So, tell me about your pets.” Avoiding asking such questions makes your possible friend not end your communication with a one-word answer.
8. How does the author begin the text?
A. By praising a tradition. B. By using an old saying.
C. By showing Lisa’s worry. D. By sharing his sad story.
9. What stopped many people to make friends according to paragraph 3?
A. Fear of being turned down. B. The distrust of friends.
C. Poor communication skills. D. Little interest in social life.
10. What makes a good conversation starter according to the author?
A. Talking about yourself first. B. Using simple yes/ no questions.
C. Asking open-ended questions. D. Giving comments on appearance.
11. What can be the best title for the text?
A. A Path to Friendship. B. The Pain of Loneliness.
C. How to Ask Questions. D. How to Turn Shy Into Popularity.
D
English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. But have you ever wondered why it plays such an important role in global communication? And what challenges do people face when learning it?
Unlike many other languages, English has a rich and complex (复杂的) history. It has borrowed words from Latin, French, German, and many other languages, making its vocabulary large and full of different words. However, this also means that English spelling can be confusing. For example, words like “through,” “tough,” and “though” look alike but are pronounced very differently. Such irregularities often make English difficult to learn for non-native speakers.
Another interesting feature of English is its flexibility (灵活性). Nouns can easily become verbs, such as “email” or “message,” and new words are added to the language all the time. This adaptability (适应性) allows English to keep up with rapid changes in technology and culture.
But learning English isn’t just about memorising words and grammar rules. It also includes understanding cultural differences. For example, in some cultures, being direct in communication is valued, while English-speaking cultures often use polite indirect expressions. For example, instead of saying “You are wrong,” a native English speaker might say, “I see your point, but have you considered...?” These differences are not very obvious but can sometimes lead to misinterpretations.
Moreover, English opens the door to a vast amount of knowledge. From science and technology to literature and pop culture, many of the world’s most important works are written in English. By learning English, students can get to a wider range of information and opportunities.
Yet, the process of learning English can also inspire learners to think differently. Studies have shown that people who speak many languages tend to be more flexible in their thinking. They can see problems from different points of views and come up with more creative ideas.
English is more than just a subject in school — it is a tool that connects people, cultures, and ideas across the world. While it may be challenging to learn, the benefits it brings make it well worth the effort.
12. Why does the author list words like “through”, “tough”, and “though”?
A. To suggest the less value of pronunciation.
B. To prove the large vocabulary of English.
C. To show the influence of German on English.
D. To illustrate the challenge caused by confusing spelling.
13. What does the flexibility of English allow it to do?
A. It makes grammar easier to understand.
B. It helps English change with the times.
C. It helps to reduce unnecessary words.
D. It maintains formal expressions over time.
14. What does the underlined word “misinterpretations” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Unimportance. B. Inability. C. Misunderstanding. D. Impossibility.
15. What benefit of learning English is stressed in the text?
A. Gaining more job opportunities. B. Being more open to making friends.
C. Reducing the need for other subjects. D. Developing creative thinking abilities.

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The first week of the new semester always carried a strange kind of energy — new classes, new faces, and the quiet hope of starting over. As an 11th-grade transfer student, I walked into the noisy classroom with my head low, clutching (紧握) my backpack strap like a lifeline. Everything felt foreign — the laughter, the inside jokes, the invisible circles I wasn’t part of. My new desk mate, Olivia, sat by the window, her notebook perfectly organized, her confidence filling the space between us. When she noticed me hesitating, she smiled, slid a neatly written class schedule across the desk, and in a soft voice said she’d show me around at lunch. That small gesture made me want to belong — to be seen.
So when she mentioned the debate club after class, I told her I’d been on the debate team and had even won a regional contest. It wasn’t planned. The lie just slipped out, smooth and effortless, like it had been waiting for its cue. Her eyes lit up, and for the first time, I felt noticed — no longer just the quiet new kid.
A few days later, Olivia came running up with a sign- up sheet.“ The annual school-wide debate competition is in a month — we should team up!” she exclaimed, her enthusiasm unshakable. I tried to match her energy, but the panic settled deeper each time I imagined standing on stage. Four weeks to prepare — it felt endless and terrifying at the same time.
At our first rehearsal (排练), I stumbled over debate terms, struggled to organize arguments, and froze when asked to practice rebuttals (反驳). Some teammates exchanged eye rolls and quiet laughs that stung more than their whispers. Olivia didn’t say anything; her smile faded, polite yet puzzled.
By Friday, the lie felt heavier than the weight on my shoulders. Each“ keep going” she offered sounded like a test I couldn’t pass. That night, I stared at my debate notes, the words swimming before my eyes. I knew I couldn’t keep pretending. Something had to give.
注意:
1.写作词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone.

A month later, Olivia and I stepped onto the stage together, ready for the big day.

【答案】8. C 9. A 10. C 11. A

故填for。
【38题详解】
考查冠词。句意:他说,两种语言之间的巨大差异意味着,中国人觉得西班牙语语法的某些方面很难,而西班牙人则认为中文的发音以及汉字颇具挑战性。此处特指两种语言,需用定冠词the。故填the。
故填was created。
【42题详解】
考查序数词。句意:Estrada目前处于HSK六级中的第四级。根据空前定冠词the和空后of the six HSK levels可知,空处需用序数词表示顺序,four的序数词为fourth。故填fourth。

考查非谓语动词。句意:打破语言障碍是第一步,一旦他们看到你在学习这门语言,就会感到更放松,之后便很容易建立起联系。“It is+形容词+to do sth.”为固定句型,表示“做某事是……”,所以空处需用动词不定式作主语,it作形式主语。故填to build。
【45题详解】
考查动词时态。句意:去年夏天,Estrada在中国待了两个月,他希望今年年底能再去中国三个月,亲身感受中国的新年。根据时间状语Last summer可知,空处谓语动词需用一般过去时。故填spent。

【答案】
Dear Editor,
I’m Li Hua, a student in my first year of high school. I’m writing to ask you for help.
Last Thursday, our school held a sports meeting. I accidentally knocked my deskmate over when racing towards the finish line in the 100-meter race, leaving his right leg injured. I sincerely apologized to him, but he wouldn’t forgive me because I made him lose the chance to win, which made me upset. With this always on my mind, I can’t concentrate on the study. I’m at a total loss what I should do. I’d appreciate it if you could help me out of the trouble.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

注意:
1.写作词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone.

A month later, Olivia and I stepped onto the stage together, ready for the big day.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文:
During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone. For a long moment, the room went silent — you could have heard a pin drop. Then Olivia spoke, calm and steady: “It’s fine. We’ll start from scratch.” One by one, the others offered advice, shared notes, and cracked small jokes that eased the tension. From that day on, I stayed after school until the lights went out — repeating lines, practicing arguments, recording myself to correct every pause. My voice wavered, my notes were full of red marks, but fear slowly turned into focus. I was no longer pretending; I was learning to earn my place.
A month later, Olivia and I stepped onto the stage together, ready for the big day. My palms were sweating, and my heartbeat drowned out the audience. When I stumbled over a point, Olivia jumped in smoothly, guiding me back on track. Our teammates whispered reminders and adjusted timing, and by the final round, we were in sync. When the judges announced our victory, the applause felt like sunlight breaking through. Standing there, I understood something deeper than winning: the path I’d faked at first had led me to something real — courage I had built, friends who believed in me, and a place where I truly fit.
【解析】
【导语】本篇书面表达以人物为线索展开。文章讲述转校生“我”为融入新集体,谎称曾获辩论赛冠军;被新同桌Olivia拉进校队后却露馅。在愧疚与恐惧中,“我”最终选择坦白,得到队友理解与帮助,历经苦练登上决赛舞台,完成从“伪装”到“真实成长”的蜕变。
【详解】1. 段落续写:
①由第一段首句内容“During the next rehearsal, I finally admitted the truth to everyone.(下次排练时,我终于向大家坦白了真相。)”可知,第一段可描写“我”坦白后短暂的尴尬、队友的反应、集体决定从零开始辅导“我”,以及“我”苦练辩论技巧的过程。
②由第二段首句内容“A month later, Olivia and I stepped onto the stage together, ready for the big day.(一个月后,Olivia和我一同踏上舞台,迎接大赛。)”可知,第二段可描写比赛当天“我”的紧张、团队默契配合、最终获胜,以及“我”领悟到“勇气与归属感”这一更深层的收获。
2. 续写线索: 坦白真相——团队包容——集体辅导——刻苦训练——赛场配合——获胜顿悟
3. 词汇激活
