A. attach附上、依附;B. attribute 把…… 根据后文“it was soon surrounded by Wei’s strong army”(赵国都城很快被魏国大军包围)可知,魏国的行为是“攻打”赵国,故选D。
A. was different from与…… 不同;B. was made up of 由……组成;C. was famous for因…… 闻名;D. was located in位于……。
A. went their way to 表述不规范(正确表达为 “make one’s way to”);B. made their way to 前往、向…… 进发(强调艰难或有目的的行进);C. on their way to 在去…… 的路上(是介词短语,不能作谓语);D. got the way in 挡道。
A. suddenly 突然;B. eventually 最终;C. immediately 立即、马上;D. especially 尤其。
A. filling 充满;B. pretending 假装;C. entering 进入;D. hiding 隐藏、埋伏。根据 “secretly there, waiting for them”(秘密地在那里等待他们)可知,齐军是 “隐藏” 起来埋伏魏军,故选 D。
A. remaining 保持、剩余(常与介词 “in” 搭配,但 “remain in” 表示 “停留在……”,不符合 “解救赵国” 的语境);B. managing 设法做到(常与 “to do” 搭配,即 “manage to do”,此处空后是 “in”,语法不符);C. succeeded 成功(“succeed in doing sth” 是固定搭配,意为 “成功做某事”,符合语境);D. attempting 尝试(“attempt in doing sth” 表述不规范,常用 “attempt to do sth”)。
A. victory 胜利;B. independence 独立;C. intelligence 智慧;D. cooperation 合作。
A. bravery 勇敢;B. determination 决心;C. teamwork 团队合作;D. wisdom 智慧。“围魏救赵” 是靠计策而非蛮力取胜,体现的是 “智慧”,与 “force”(武力)形成对比,故选 D。

Now, exchange trips are getting more and more popular with students. Many young people want to go on these trips. They think it’s a great chance to see new places, meet new people, and learn things they can’t get from books.
Before you go, it’s good to get ready in your mind. Try to be open to new things. Remember, life in another country might be different from home—and that’s okay! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes when you speak the new language. It’s part of learning. Also, be ready to try things you’ve never done before, like eating strange-looking food or joining a new game.
Exchange trips have many wonderful benefits. First, they help you learn a new language better. In your daily life, you have to use the language: talking to your host family, buying snacks at the store, or asking for directions. This is much more useful than just studying words in a classroom. You’ll get better at speaking and listening quickly.
Second, you’ll learn a lot about other cultures. You can eat local food (maybe spicy or sweet, different from yours!), watch how people celebrate festivals, or see how families live. This makes you understand that the world is full of different ways of life, and that’s interesting.
Third, you’ll become more independent. You might need to plan your own time, solve small problems (like forgetting your way home), or take care of yourself when you feel a little sad. Doing these things makes you stronger and more confident.
However, there are some things to pay attention to. One common challenge is culture shock. For example, local customs might be very different from what you’re used to—maybe people greet each other in a strange way, or food tastes completely new. To deal with this, it’s helpful to learn about the country’s culture before the trip. You can read books, watch videos, or talk to people who have been there. Keeping an open mind and trying to understand instead of judging will also make it easier to fit in.
Exchange trips are amazing experiences. They help you learn languages, know more about the world, and grow into a stronger person. With a little preparation, you’ll have a great time and make memories that last forever.
16.Why do exchange trips help improve language skills better than classroom study?
A. Classroom teachers are not as qualified as local people.
B. Students have to use the language in real-life situations daily.
C. Foreign countries have better language learning resources.
D. There are no exams during exchange trips.
17. What is NOT mentioned as a way to deal with culture shock?
A. Learning about the country’s culture before the trip.
B. Reading books and watching videos about the country.
C. Avoiding talking to local people to reduce misunderstandings.
D. Keeping an open mind and trying to understand local custom
18.What can we know from the passage?
A. Exchange trips can help students understand and respect cultural differences.
B. Culture shock is easy to avoid with no preparation.
C. Host families will solve all problems for exchange students.
D. Students need to be perfect in a foreign language before the trip.
19.What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How to choose a good exchange program.
B. The advantages and considerations of exchange trips.
C. The history of student exchange programs.
D. Why classroom learning is less effective than travel.
20.What is the author’s attitude towards exchange trips?
A. Negative B. Neutral C. Positive D. Doubtful

During the Warring States Period, there was a man named Tian Ji in the state of Qi. He loved horse racing and often competed with the king. But Tian Ji’s horses were almost as fast as the king’s, so he always lost and felt upset.
One day, Tian Ji’s friend Sun Bin watched a race and had a clever idea. He said to Tian Ji, “Use your slowest horse to race the king’s fastest. Then use your fastest to race his medium one, and your medium to race his slowest.”
The next race began. Tian Ji lost the first round, but he won the second and third rounds. Finally, he beat the king! The king was very surprised. Tian Ji smiled and told the king about Sun Bin’s smart plan. This story tells us that a good strategy can help us win.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang was in Xicheng with only a few weak soldiers. His main army was far away and couldn’t return soon. One day, soldiers who looked for news came and said Sima Yi’s big army (tens of thousands of soldiers) was coming. Everyone in the city was afraid; some even prepared to run.
Zhuge Liang stayed calm. He told soldiers to open gates and let villagers sweep roads quietly. Then he went to the city wall with his guqin, sat down, and played softly while drinking tea. When Sima Yi arrived, he was surprised. He thought, “Zhuge Liang is careful—there must be traps!” He shook his head at his men.
Finally, Sima Yi ordered, “Go back!” His army left. Zhuge Liang’s soldiers cheered. Zhuge Liang smiled, took a drink of tea, and felt relaxed—his plan saved Xicheng.

Silent Honor, a 2025 historical TV play with Yu Hewei, Wu Yue and Wei Chen as main actors, is based on true stories of unknown heroes. These heroes fought during the important 1949-1950 time for the country’s freedom. The play clearly shows characters like Wu Shi and Zhu Feng, and the actors played them with strong feelings. These heroes put their lives in danger to send top intelligence, which built an important base for the country’s freedom. Wu Shi says the famous line “If I don't return, then I don't return.” This line shows the brave spirit of a hero who fights for his country.
What makes the drama special is its true way of showing heroes. They are not shown as perfect idols, but as common people who have families and fears. However, they always put the country’s needs above everything else. This connects deeply with the audience, making historical heroes more relatable(易共鸣的) than distant figures in historical records.
The drama has great meaning: it strongly passes on the spirit of loving one’s country. It tells viewers that today’s peaceful life was made by the sacrifices(牺牲) of people who lived before us. For everyone, it is a helpful lesson. It encourages people to value the present, keep their love for the country, and do something for the country’s growth.
As its good messages spread widely online, Silent Honor shows that true stories about loving one’s country go beyond time. It not only touches people’s hearts but also helps develop good values.
16. Why do exchange trips help improve language skills better than classroom study?
18. What can we know from the passage?
A. Exchange trips can help students understand and respect cultural differences.
B. Culture shock is easy to avoid with no preparation.
C. Host families will solve all problems for exchange students.
D. Students need to be perfect in a foreign language before the trip.
19. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. How to choose a good exchange program.
B. The advantages and considerations of exchange trips.
C. The history of student exchange programs.
D. Why classroom learning is less effective than travel.
20. What is the author’s attitude towards exchange trips?
A. Negative B. Neutral C. Positive D. Doubtful
C

16. Why do exchange trips help improve language skills better than classroom study?
A. Negative B. Neutral C. Positive D. Doubtful
