The 2020 Paralympic Games, held from August 24 to September 5,2021,saw a record 4,403 athletes compete across
22 sports.Among them was Ibrahim Hamadtou-a man whose courage and determination redefine what is possible.
Table tennis might seem an unlikely choice for someone with no arms, but the 48-year-old Egyptian Paralympian sees
no limits. He holds the racket(球拍)in his mouth and uses his foot to serve(发球),turning what could be a limitation into an
extraordinary skill.
Hamadtou, who lost his arms in a train accident at the age of ten,was drawn to table tennis after being in a club with
his friends."I was in the club where two of my friends were playing a match."Hamadtou explains."They disagreed on a
point. When I counted the point in favor of one of them, the other player told me,Do not get involved as you will never be
able to play.'It was that statement that fired me up to decide to play table tennis."
It took Hamadtou three years to master the sport. He says the biggest challenge was figuring out the best way to
maneuver his body."I was trying first to use the bat under the arm,and I also tried using other things that weren't working
so well. Finally,I tried using my mouth. It took me nearly a year of practice to get used to holding the racket with my mouth
and making the serve;with practice and playing regularly, this skill was improved."
His talent gained acceptance when he was named Best Arab Athlete in 2014.He went on to win a silver medal at the
2016 African Championships and competed in both the 2016 and 2020 Paralympic Games. As Hamadtou says,"Disability
does not mean having no arms or legs-it means giving up on what you want to achieve."
24.What does the author intend to do in paragraph 1?
A.To describe Ibrahim Hamadtou's life story.
B.To introduce the main character of the story.
C.To popularize the spirit of Paralympic games
D.To provide backgrounds of the participating athletes.

D.Take pity on.

I am addicted to Instagram, particularly to its bookish communities.I can't open the app without sceing a meme(,
)artwork or quote about one of my favorite book series. But my Instagram feed is flooded with AI"art"-though to me,
it is nothing but plagiarism().Instagram seemingly has no problem with highlighting AI "artists",which to me is a
harm to real artists.
Each AI"art"post takes the place of a bookish artist who spent countless hours creating truly amazing artwork. As a
journalist and future educator,I can't view AI"art"as anything but plagiarism because it is collected from artists who have
not agreed to the use of their work, nor do they receive credit for it.
For creatives like Bronwyn Lipka,a 25-year-old bookish artist, the reality of having their work stolen is ever-present.
"AI 'artists'are essentially stealing your art,but there's no way to know if they're doing it because they face no
consequences(后果),”Lipka said.
And it's not just the AI "artists"that are leading to this culture of irresponsibility.Meta, the parent company of
Instagram, considers public Instagram posts to be part of its training data-including generative Al art training.Artists
must decide whether continuing to use Meta apps, where they've built up a following,is worth AI stealing their intellectual
property(知识产权).
Many of my favorite artists have made the move to a platform that does not use AI models on user content.Ultimately,
if artists continue to leave Meta platforms, the bookish community will struggle.Worse,if the bookish community starts to
fade, book sales will drop sharply right down with them.
Though I am not against AI and aware that it has the potential to do some really great things,I cannot stand the
continuous lack()of forethought in deciding where and when it should be used.I urge Meta and any other companies
introducing Al into their programming to consider the ethics()of doing so,before it's too late.
28.What does the author try to say in the first paragraph?
A.Artists feel ashamed of plagiarism.
B.Instagram is a commonly used platform.
C.The Al-created works dominate Instagram.
D.The bookish communities need improvement.
29.What can be inferred from Lipka's words in paragraph 3?
A.Artistic competition is becoming intense.
BaAI“art”won't take the place of real art.
C.Bookish artists are losing work ownership.
D.AI"artists"are getting away with stealing art.
30.How does Meta's use of Instagram posts affect artists?
A.It exposes them to a wider audience.
B.It drives them to leave Meta platforms.
C.It increases their book sales significantly.D.It destroys their faith in intellectual property.
31.What is the text mainly about?
A.A rising trend of creating art with AI.
B.Artists'struggle for recognition in the AI era.
C.The balance between AI and human creativity.
D.A call for protection of human artists against AI art.

Scientists have identified neurons()in an ancient part of the brain that control when you stop eating a meal,at
least in rodents(啮齿动物).The researchers discovered that cholecystokinin(胆囊收缩素)(CCK)neurons,,which are
found in the brain stem, one of the oldest parts of the brain, combine various signals produced as we eat, causing us to feel
full and not want to take another bite. The feeding signals these neurons respond to send information like how much food is
detected by receptors in the mouth, how full the stomach is and how high the levels of different hunger signalling hormones
in the blood are.The new research is still in tts early stages, having only been conducted in mice so far.
The team focused on the brain stems of mice to build on research in rodents dating back to the 1970s,which suggested
that the brain stem could play a role in regulating()feelings of fullness. However, which particular cells within this
region did this and how was unclear. To see how CCK neurons may influence eating, the scientists genetically modified(
mice so that their CCK neurons could be switched on and off using light in lab experiments. They found that
when these neurons were activated, the mice ate smaller meals compared to unmodified mice, and the extent of activation
determined how quickly the modified mice stopped eating.
The findings suggest that CCK neurons regulate how much mice eat during a given meal, the team concluded. If
similar neurons are found in the human brain stem, the findings could theoretically lead to the development of new
treatments for conditions like obesity().This idea was supported by separate experiments conducted in the same
study,in which the team discovered that mouse CCK neurons can be activated by a drug called Exendin-4,which caused the
mice to stop eating.Exendin-4 is in the same class of drugs as Ozempic and Wegovy, which are becoming increasingly
popular for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity, respectively.Whether used alone or alongside other medical
interventions(),these findings could provide a pathway for clinically regulating eating behaviour and possibly for
developing weight-reducing drugs. But these findings in rodents must first be extended to people.
32.Which of the following can best describe CCK neurons?
A.Taste detectors.
B.Decision makers.
.Munger makers.
D.Signal organizers.
33.What's the key difference between genetically modified mice and normal ones according to Paragraph 2?
A:Normal mice got Exendin-4 injections.
B.Modified mice had more hunger hormones.
C.Normal mice had changed brain stem structures.
D.Modified mice had CCK neurons controlled by light.
34.Why does the author mention a drug called Exendin-4?
A.To challenge existing findings.
B.To indicate potential applications.
C.Te suggest immediate effectiveness.
D.To highlight experimental limitations.

38 And any deviation is considered abnormal and strange.
For me,those who travel the world aren't running away from life.39 They are exploring the world and
living on their own terms. They have a degree of freedom a lot of people will never experience. They get to be the captains
of their own ships.
People may tell you they envy what you do,and say they wish they could travel like you.But they never do.Few people
have the courage to take the risk. But lifc is what you make it out to be.Life is yours to create.40So I'm not

Regular Exercises,Energetic Life
Good morning, everyone!I'm Li Hua.It's a great honor to deliver a speech here.It is concerning
that although our school provides excellent sports facilities, many students remain physically inactive, which
affects both our health and academic efficiency.
Indeed, physical exercise benefits us immensely.Firstly, regular exercise helps increase our body's
strength, speed, and endurance.Additionally,it boosts our energy, helping us avoid being sleepy in class
and reducing the risk of certain diseases.Lastly,by overcoming difficulties during exercise,we become
stronger both physically and mentally, and more prepared to face challenges in life.
I strongly urge everyone to make exercise a priority in our daily routine.Let's exercise regularly
to obtain the rewards of an energetic life.Thank you!
