Then answer the questions of Activity 1 on Page65. 2. Look at these pictures and talk about the relationships between the people and the animals. 3. Introduce some animals that can migrate and ask some students to explain the reason why they migrate. Step2 Reading 1. Fast-reading 1)Know about these animals on Page66 and choose the animals that migrate. 2)Give students more expressions about migration: natural phenomenon, Breeding, climate change, along the food-rich areas, feeding, the main path, central migration route... 3) Read the passage quickly and find out what mystery the scientists have solved. ( the mystery of how monarch butterflies manage to travel a long distance and find their way to their destination.) 4)Let students think about where to find the passage most likely. ( In a popular nature magazine introducing the monarch butterfly.) 2. Careful reading 1) Read the passage and finish Activity4 and understand the “Cause-effect” flow charts. 2) Check the answers. 3) Ask students to give each paragraph its main idea. Para1. Every year many animals migrate. Para2. Every autumn monarchs begin to migrate. Para3. How the monarchs migrate. Para4. Why the number of the monarchs reduces. Para5. How to protect the monarchs. 4) Read the passage again and underline some key sentences and expressions. For example: in search of, the solution to..., the point where..., the places where..., a time when..., the main reason why..., the more...the greater... 5) Encourage students to retell the text according to the main idea of each paragraph and some key expressions. Step3 Conclusion Lead students to sum up the features of description depending on the structure of the passage. First introduce the topic, then state the facts for the topic and at last draw a conclusion. Step4 Homework 1. Think about why we protect the wildlife and how to protect the environment around us. 2.
