II. Grammar and Vocabulary
Section A
Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in the blanks to make the passage coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.
Tea Art
It’s common to see people in coffee bars create coffee art, but it’s a whole different ballgame doing the same thing with tea. Han Zheming has managed to perfect the skill, creating tea art in cups, or dian cha in Chinese, ___21___ used to be a ritual during the Song Dynasty.
Over the past six years, the 40-year-old Shanghai resident ___22___ (use) tea and spoons to create nearly 200 patterns based on ancient paintings. “It’s like ___23___ (add) bells and whistles to tea, giving people a stronger sense of occasion, so drinking tea is more fun,” Han says. It’s also his intention to bring the old ritual back to modern life and have more people ___24___ (appreciate) its charm. Dian cha enhances the taste of tea, Han says. “It is similar to the foam (泡沫) on top of a cup of coffee, except ___25___ it is made of tea rather than milk.”
Chinese tea culture started to enjoy popularity during the Tang Dynasty and boomed throughout the Song Dynasty, ___26___ tea became a necessity for almost everyone, from nobles and scholars to common people, just like other essential items, such as rice, oil and salt, as suggested by Song politician and thinker Wang Anshi.
Different from the method of making tea during the Tang period, in the Song Dynasty, the popular way of having tea was through dian cha. The process begins with hot water being poured over fine ___27___ (powder) tea creating a mixture. Then more hot water is added slowly ___28___ the tea is constantly beaten by hand with a bamboo stick. It is believed that this method later spread to other parts of East Asia, including Japan, where similarities ___29___ be seen in the way matcha (抹茶) is prepared today.
This action of pouring hot water is called dian; hence the name dian cha ___30___ (list) as an intangible cultural heritage (非物质文化遗产) of Runzhou district, Zhenjiang city, Jiangsu province, in 2019.
Section B
Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in each blank with a proper word given in the box. Each word can be used only once. Note that there is one more word than you need.
A.suitable B.genuine C. distributed D. sustainability E. rising F. severe
G. accused H.aiming I. positioning J.investigation K. exposed
The outdoor brand Arc’teryx co-hosted a fireworks show Dragon Ascent with artist Cai Guoqiang in the Himalayas, ____31____ to honor alpine culture as part of its “Upward to Beauty” series. However, the 52-second show quickly triggered a(n) ___32___ controversy (争议) over ecological risks.
Long promoting “Leave No Trace” and ____33____ itself as a defender of nature, the brand claimed to use IOC-certified biodegradable materials. But experts argued that in the plateau’s cold, oxygen-poor environment, microbial (微生物的) activity is weak, making material degradation extremely slow-standards for cities are not____34____for the delicate ecosystem.Worse, on-site checks found residual wires and plastic, with obvious artificial trampling (践踏)on the centuries-old alpine grassland.
Critics ____35____ the event of breaking the brand’s core value of “respecting nature”, calling it a contradiction (矛盾) between marketing and responsibility. With public anger ____36____, Arc’teryx deleted promotional posts and apologized, but this failed to calm tensions. A bigger backlash (抵制) came when netizens noticed the difference between its domestic and overseas apologies: the former blamed “execution faults”, while the latter admitted conflicting with brand commitments.
Local authorities soon set up a(n) ____37____ team to look into whether the incident was handled according to the rules. The failure ____38____ the brand’s flawed risk assessment and lack of respect for ecological red lines. For Arc’teryx, once honored with the “Hermes of outdoor gear (装备)”, repairing damaged trust requires more than words — it needs ___39___ actions to make up for errors, not just promises.
This incident has raised critical questions: How should commercial brands balance publicity with environmental protection? As a high-profile case of broken brand credibility, it serves as a striking warning for enterprises connecting their image with ____40____. Ultimately, true respect for nature lies not in grand shows, but in consistent obedience to eco-friendly principles.

(A)
Finley-Jay is only eight years old, yet his determination to make a difference shines bright. His sights are already set on helping others in his community with his touching acts of kindness.
Inspired by an Internet-based group calling itself “Hit the Ambulance Gamers” which highlights random acts of kindness, or “hits”, he creates and hands out goody bags to ambulance crews in the West Midlands, the UK, to bring joy to the hard-working paramedics (护理人员). Much more than just treats, they are a reminder that compassion can have a deep impact on others.
The youngster fills his goody bags with tea, coffee, chocolates, biscuits, and pens, all gifted to him by friends and family.
“I am so proud of him — he is such a kind little boy,” says his mom, Laura Stubbs. “Whenever we have some spare time, you can find Finley at the hospital handing out little bags that he’s made to every ambulance that arrives. He’s so popular that Shrewsbury ambulance crews all know him now.”
The hospital’s nursing director, Hayley Flavell, also shows her admiration, “What a lovely and kind gesture by Finley — his goody bags will make all the difference to the ambulance crews that arrive at our hospital. Well done, Finley!”
Perhaps this kind-hearted kid’s selfless actions are more worth praising because he lives with ADHD. It is a common mental disorder in children. Its symptoms include difficulty in focusing, inappropriate hyperactivity (多动) and a tendency to act impulsively.
Finley’s love for ambulances has led to him setting up his own online group titled “Finlay-Jay’s Ambulance Bags Journey”. In it, he continues to inspire others to support his mission and spread kindness in their own communities. Finley has taken the concept of random acts of kindness to new heights. The “Hit the Ambulance Gamers” group encourages members to share gestures such as waves with ambulance crews, but this caring boy is praised for going above and beyond with his goody bags.
56. What inspired Finley to do good deeds?
A. An online community. B. His personal experience.
C. The importance of rescue work. D. His mother’s encouragement.
57. Where do Finley’s goods to ambulance crews come from?
A. They are collected through the Internet. B. They are donated by a charity.
C. They are given by his familiar people. D. They are bought by Finley himself.
58. What can be learned about Finley?
A. He is a child with exceptional talents.
B. He faces personal difficulties yet spreads kindness to others.
C. He has received national recognition for his achievements.
D. He has developed a unique medical treatment for ADHD.
59. What can be known from the last paragraph?
A. Finley became an active leader of “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”.
B. Finley received financial support from others to carry out his good deeds.
C. Finley’s goody-bag-giving activity was recognized by “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”.
D. Finley furthered the kindness concept of “Hit the Ambulance Gamers”.

As humanity has got richer, animal’s roles have changed. People need their services less than before. Fewer wolves and thieves meant less demand for dogs for protection; the internal combustion engine(内燃机)made horses unneeded; modern sanitation(卫生设备)kept rats in check and made cats less useful. No longer necessities, domestic animals became luxuries. Pet-keeping seems to kick in when household incomes rise above roughly $5,000. It is booming.
The trend is not a new one. Archaeologists(考古学家)have found 10,000-year-old graves in which dogs and people are buried together. Some cultures -- such as in Scandinavia, where dogs have long been both working dogs and companions -- have kept pets for thousands of years. But these days the pet-keeping urge has spread even to parts of the world which have no tradition of sinking into a comfortable chair with a furry creature.
The pet business is growing even faster than pet numbers, because people are spending more and more money on them. No longer are they food - waste - recyclers, fed with the remains that fall from their masters’ tables. Pet - food shelves are full of delicacies crafted to satisfy a range of appetites, including ice cream for dogs and foods for pets that are old, diabetic or suffer from sensitive digestion; a number of internet services offer food, tailored to the pet’s individual tastes.
In the business this is called “pet humanisation” -- the tendency of pet owners to treat their pets as part of the family. This is evident in the names given to dogs, which have evolved from Fido, Rex and Spot to -- in America -- Bella, Lucy and Max. It is evident in the growing market for pet clothing, pet grooming and pet hotels.
People still assume that pets must be working for humanity in some way, perhaps making people healthier or less anxious. But the evidence for that is weak. Rather, new research suggests that dogs have evolved those irresistible “puppy - dog eyes” precisely to affect human emotions. It has worked. The species that once enslaved others now works very hard to pay for the care of its pets. Sentimental(多愁善感的)Americans often refer to themselves not as cat-owners but as the cat’s “mommy” or “daddy”. South Koreans go one further, describing themselves as cat “butlers”. Watch an unlucky dog-walker trailing “his” hound(猎犬), plastic bag in hand to pick up its mess, and you have to wonder: who’s in charge now?
63. Which of the following trends is NOT TRUE according to the passage?
A. People’s needs for animal services are decreasing.
B. Both the pet number and the pet business are growing.
C. Pets are increasingly making their owners less anxious.
D. Pet foods are more various and customized than before.
64. Which of the following is referred to as evidence of “pet humanization?”
A. The names given to pets in American families nowadays.
B. Pet’s inbuilt ability to affect emotions of their owners.
C. Human beings ever rising urge for pet-keeping.
D. Pet’s roles as both working staff and companions.
65. Which of the following statements is the author most likely to agree with?
A. Pets should be treated as equals of their human masters.
B. Human beings are getting much benefit from their pets.
C. Pet-keeping is still restricted within certain parts of the world.
D. Some pet owners spend too much money on their pets.
66. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?
A. The Changing Roles of Animals B. The Urge for Pet-keeping
C. Who Owns Whom D. Love Me, Love My Dog
Section C
Directions: Complete the following passage by using the sentences in the box. Each sentence can only be used once. Note that there are two sentences more than you need.
You’re enjoying a delicious bowl of noodles or your favorite rice dish, chatting with your friends. Being the responsible person that you are, when you’re finished you clean up your table and throw away your garbage, including your disposable (一次性的) chopsticks. These chopsticks wind up in a landfill along with other chopsticks around the globe. ______67______ Turns out we can.
For those consuming Asian food, using chopsticks as eating tools is almost second nature. It has been estimated that 20 to 33 percent of the world’s population uses chopsticks on a daily basis. Not all of those are disposable, but no doubt many are. Estimates indicate that up to 80 billion disposable chopsticks are used worldwide every year. ______68______
Enter Felix Bock, a doctoral student at the time in the forestry program at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Bock was eager to find a way to recycle wood from construction projects, and he had a particular interest in bamboo. One day he found a drawer in his girlfriend’s house filled with disposable bamboo chopsticks, and an idea began to form in his mind.
Bock’s smart idea was to give a second life to disposable chopsticks by making them into home decorations. He tried to convince restaurant owners to install recycling bins in their restaurants. He also designed a method to clean and sanitize (消毒) the chopsticks so that they could be reused. ______69______ The square pieces were then artistically arranged into household and office products. Bock’s company, called ChopValue, has repurposed chopsticks into wall decorations, desktops, cutting boards and even table games such as dominoes (多米诺骨牌).
Since 2016 when the company was founded, ChopValue has rescued billions of chopsticks from landfills. Instead of an economy based on the typical take-make-dispose model, ChopValue seeks to create one that transforms waste into a usable resource. Bock states in an interview with Global Shakers, “Frankly, I’m frustrated by everyone trying to be sustainable when they are looking away from the visible things that we can do immediately with the materials right in front of us.” ______70______
A. It doesn’t take an environmentalist to realize that this practice is not sustainable.
B. What do you think of this phenomenon?
C. Then he pressed them into square pieces and coated them with something sticky.
D. Hopefully, such issues could be resolved as soon as possible.
E. But what if we could recycle them?
F. Sometimes, as with chopsticks, those materials are right under our very noses.
IV. Summary Writing
71. Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main point(s) of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.
There is one question that most parents seem unwilling to answer more than any others when chatting with their kids. Can you guess what that might be? If you say “How much money do you make?”, your answer is exactly right. According to Jayne Pearl, a writer, editor and mother of one, money is unlikely to be a common topic shared with family members, especially with their kids.
In Pearl’s books concerning financial parenting, there are two main reasons why parents don’t talk to their kids about money and help them develop critical financial literacy skills. For one, they’re terrified they’re not good role models when it comes to money. “Many of us make a lot of mistakes ourselves with money, or spend too much,” she said. Second, many parents feel that they don’t know a lot about money, so they don’t have the confidence that they can teach their kids about it.
However, if you get past your insecurity about money and eventually talk to your kids they’ll definitely benefit, said Pearl. Kids are finally going to need to know how to handle their own money when they get older so it’s better for them to learn when the stakes(赌注) are low. And talking with your kids about money also allows you to impress your financial responsibility on your kids. Those values include understanding the differences between wants and needs as well as learning how to make a balance.
Parents might think they need a Ph.D. in finance to teach their kids, which is not true at all. As Pearl put it, all you have to do is talking out loud about what you’re doing when you’re dealing with your business every day. For instance, when you are at the ATM with your kids, it’s a great opportunity to explain how you put money in the bank to keep it safe and to withdraw money there when you need it. You can also learn alongside your kids. Instead of saying “I don’t know,” you can say, “I need to learn more about this too, so let’s sit down and learn about it.” Anyway, start whenever you can.

【答案】11. C 12. B 13. B
【解析】
【原文】 In more than 60 countries, people can only walk on established, well-worn paths. Why? Because their fields and forests are littered with landmines left from war. Even when people walk carefully off the paths, they can accidentally step on a landmine. As a result, innocent civilians are injured or lose their lives. Many people want to clear the landmines and give people their land and lives back. APOPO, a non-profit organization started in Belgium, has a creative solution to the problem. They don’t train people to use metal detectors to find the landmines. They pioneered the use of African giant rat, which can be found in most of sub-Saharan African nations, in landmine detection to free people from the terrors of the explosive leftovers of war. They breed and train African giant rats for the job. These trained rats, called “HeroRATs,” have a keen sense of smell that allows them to smell out landmines quickly. A rat can clear a tennis-court-sized area in just 30 minutes. A human with a metal detector would take four days to sweep the same area. Not only that, but the rats are too light to explode a landmine. No rat has ever died detecting landmines.
Questions:
1. Why people in those countries have to walk on established paths?
2. What can we learn about the African giant rat?
3. How much time does it take a rat to clear a tennis-court-sized area?

【原文】As we all know, being overweight can harm one’s health. Naron, a small town in Spain, has set a weight loss challenge for itself in recent days: by early 2020, its people must get rid of a combined total of 100,000 kg. There are around 40,000 people living in the town, with 9,000 overweight people and another 3,000 suffering from obesity. More than 4,000 people, or one-tenth of the population, have joined the project. To show their support, the mayor, Marian Ferreiro, and her municipal councilors weighed themselves together in public on giant scales. The programme, drawn up by local doctors, offers personalized diets and physical activity adapted to those who stick to it. Gone are bacon and fried food from the diets of thousands of residents in Naron who are taking to sport again as part of a slimming program that kicked off in January. Local restaurants are trying to help, too. They now offer healthier dishes, replacing salt with seafood and butter with olive oil. Schools there also allow students to ride exercise bikes while reading. Those who live nearby are encouraged to walk or cycle to school, or ride scooters, wearing special electronic devices that let parents know when they have arrived. The slogan “get addicted to fruit” decorates the walls of the school where fruit is given out every morning.
Questions:
1. What’s the challenge for the Spanish town?
2. How do local people rise to the challenge?
3. What do schools do to support the project?

Directions: Read the following three passages. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A. B. C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.
(A)
Finley-Jay is only eight years old, yet his determination to make a difference shines bright.

(C)
【答案】63. C 64. A 65. D 66. C
【解析】
【分析】本文是一篇议论文,主要抨击了如今人们养宠物的现象,一些人甚至已经沦为了宠物的奴隶。
【63题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“People still assume that pets must be working for humanity in some way, perhaps making people healthier or less anxious. But the evidence for that is weak. Rather, new research suggests that dogs have evolved those irresistible “puppy - dog eyes” precisely to affect human emotions.”
根据第四段中的“In the business this is called “pet humanisation” -- the tendency of pet owners to treat their pets as part of the family. This is evident in the names given to dogs, which have evolved from Fido, Rex and Spot to -- in America -- Bella, Lucy and Max.”
根据第三段中的“The pet business is growing even faster than pet numbers, because people are spending more and more money on them.”可知,宠物生意的增长速度甚至超过了宠物数量,因为人们在宠物身上花费的钱越来越多,由此可知,作者认为一些宠物主人在他们的宠物身上花了太多的钱,故D项正确。
【66题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,特别是根据文章最后一句话“and you have to wonder: who’s in charge now?”
Section C
Directions: Complete the following passage by using the sentences in the box. Each sentence can only be used once. Note that there are two sentences more than you need.
You’re enjoying a delicious bowl of noodles or your favorite rice dish, chatting with your friends. Being the responsible person that you are, when you’re finished you clean up your table and throw away your garbage, including your disposable (一次性) chopsticks.
【答案】67. E 68. A 69. C 70. F
【解析】
【导语】本文是说明文。主要讲述了菲利克斯·博克想办法对一次性筷子回收利用,说明每个人都在努力实现可持续发展,却忽视了我们可以立即用眼前的材料做的可见事情。
【67题详解】
根据后文“Turns out we can.(事实证明我们可以)”可推知,空处应是提出一件事,然后才说我们可以,根据前文“These chopsticks wind up in a landfill along with other chopsticks around the globe.(这些筷子和世界各地的其他筷子一起被扔进了垃圾填埋场)”可知,本文在讲一次性筷子处理问题,所以E项“But what if we could recycle them?(但如果我们可以回收它们呢?)”符合题意。故选E项。
【68题详解】
分析设空可知,空处位于第二段段尾,所以是本段的总结句,根据前文“Estimates indicate that up to 80 billion disposable chopsticks are used worldwide every year.(据估计,全世界每年使用的一次性筷子多达800亿支)”可知A项“It doesn’t take an environmentalist to realize that this practice is not sustainable.(不需要环保主义者也能意识到这种做法是不可持续的)”是对前文的总结。故选A项。
【69题详解】
根据前文“He also designed a method to clean and sanitize the chopsticks so that they could be reused.(他还设计了一种清洁和消毒筷子的方法,这样筷子就可以重复使用)”和后文“The square pieces were then artistically arranged into household and office products.(然后,这些方形的物品被艺术地排列成家用和办公产品)”可知,前文没有提到方形这个概念,所以应该是在空处提出的,所以C项“Then he pressed them into square pieces and coated them with something sticky.(然后他把它们压成方形,涂上一层粘稠的东西)”符合题意。故选C项。
【70题详解】
分析设空可知,空处位于最后一段段尾,所以是本段的总结句,根据前文“Bock states in an interview with Global Shakers, “Frankly, I’m frustrated by everyone trying to be sustainable when they are looking away from the visible things that we can do immediately with the materials right in front of us.”(博克在接受《全球震动》(Global Shakers)采访时表示:“坦率地说,每个人都在努力实现可持续发展,却忽视了我们可以立即用眼前的材料做的可见事情,这让我感到沮丧。”)”可知,F项“Sometimes, as with chopsticks, those materials are right under our very noses.(有时,就像筷子一样,这些材料就在我们的鼻子底下)”是对前文的总结,其中in front of us和under our very noses是同义替换。故选F项。

【答案】Parents are unwilling to talk about money with their kids because they are afraid of setting bad examples or they don’t think they are good enough to teach their kids about money. However, it is important to teach kids how to manage their money. Parents can teach their kids by explaining the process of putting money in the bank and withdrawing it. Parents should also be willing to answer their kids’ questions.

Parents are reluctant to discuss money with their children because they fear setting poor examples or feel they lack the ability to teach their children about money. However, it is crucial to teach children how to manage their own finances. Parents can guide them by explaining the process of depositing money in the bank and withdrawing it. At the same time, parents should also be willing to answer their children's questions.

【详解】考查介词短语和动词时态。根据汉语提示,表示“得益于……;多亏了……”用thanks to;表示“有效的政策”用effective policies;表示“强烈的消费需求”用strong demand for consumption,二者构成并列关系,使用and进行连接,作thanks to的宾语;表示“国内市场”用the domestic concert market;表示“繁荣;蓬勃发展”用boom,表示“自从去年 ”用since last year,其为现在完成时的时间标志,句子主语the domestic concert market为第三人称单数,故此处应用has boomed。故翻译为Thanks to effective policies and strong demand for consumption, the domestic concert market has boomed since last year.

One possible version:
During the past three years in the Guangming senior high school, I have had many unforgettable experiences. One of the most unforgettable things was when our class prepared for a group singing competition. In order to win the competition, we all went for it. During the week before the competition, we practised singing in our free time. Although it was a hard job, every participant took it seriously and did their best. Thanks to our effort, we won the first prize. Hearing the exciting news, we were all wild with joy. The movement reminded me of an old saying-No pains, no gains. It was hard work, but during the course of preparation, we developed deep friendship, confidence as well as understanding!
