An Encounter with Nature
As a nature photographer,I have to brave the elements. But despite the wind and the rain,I still enjoy working outside in the wild. One of the best things about this job is that you can observe animals in their natural environment.
My favourite place to take photos is Yellowstone National Park.As the world's first national park,Yellowstone is famous for the variety of its wildlife, but it is probably best known for its bears. These huge, strong animals can live for 30 years.Despite a weight of up to 300 kilograms, they can run at a speed of around 64 kilometres per hour and are also excellent swimmers.

Children whose minds wander (走神) might have sharper brains,a research suggests.
A study has found that people who let their minds wander easily have more “working memory”,giving them the ability to hold a lot of information in their heads and control it cleverly.

Children at school need this type of memory on a daily basis for a variety of tasks, such as following teachers' instructions or remembering dictated sentences.During the study, volunteers were asked to perform one simple task during which researchers kept asking if their minds were wandering. In the end, volunteers measured their working memory capacity (容量) by their ability to remember a series of letters mixed with simple maths questions.

Daniel Levinson,a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States, said that those with higher working memory capacity reported “more mind wandering during these simple tasks”,but their performance did not deteriorate.
The results, published online in the journal Psychological Science, appear to make sure that the former research found working memory allows humans to deal with many thoughts at the same time.

To fuel them on their lengthy journey, western tanagers feed on insects and berries. They must take advantage of the early-season boom in insects that started with springtime plant growth to produce healthy young. But as global climate change caused spring to start earlier, birds

Scott Loss,a professor at Oklahoma State University and his colleagues used satellite imagery to calculate the average start of spring green-up along the typical migration routes of 150 North American bird species, and then compared that timing with the current green-up.They found that spring was indeed beginning earlier along birds' migration routes. The trend continued this year.
The paper continued to build this picture of the inability of birds to track the changing seasons caused by climate change.Timing mismatches between birds and their food could affect whether birds survived the migration and how many chicks they had.

A few days later,I received a call from my school, saying my college acceptance letter had arrived. Then I hurried to the school with my parents. It was beyond my wildest dream till that moment. As a matter of fact,I doubted then whether I was in the dream.I normally dreaded the long walk to the school. But that day was different. There seemed to be something in the air,an electric current, connecting my body to the letter. When I got it,I was really afraid that the envelope was empty. But there was a white package inside. With my heart beating faster,I wondered whether it could really be what was expected.
My parents excitedly said behind me,“Well, open the envelope!”What I grabbed in my hands contained everything I had been waiting for.Slowly,I opened it and a flash of CONGRATULATIONS in bold bright letters caught my eyes.A feeling of happiness and relief rushed through my body.I was holding my first offer from a good college.Needless to say,it wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for the countless hours of studying and writing, but most importantly,my parents' constant reminders,in fact, were the best form of education for me.“Thank you,Mum and Dad!”I said gratefully.
