We can see wasting actions everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they need, and other students often forget to turn off the lights during the day. They often say that food and electricity are cheap. But I don’t think so.
I think saving is of great honor while wasting is a shame. Although China is rich in some kinds of resources (资源), we are poor in most parts. For example, we are short of food, fresh water, woods and oil. China has a large population of 1.4 billion. Among them, about 20 million people don’t have enough food to eat and live in poor conditions (条件). What’s worse, it’s reported that we will run out of coal and oil in 100 years. So what can we use in the future if we go on wasting our resources? We should say no to wasting.
In our daily life, we can do many things to save things. Turn off the water taps (水龙头) when we don’t wash, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom, write on both sides of the paper, eat up the food on our plate and so on. Little by little, everything will change. If we do, wasting can be stopped one day.

A. Turn off the water taps and lights when we don’t use them. B. Write on both sides of the paper.
C. Eat up the food on our plate. D. All of the above.
31. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. We should stop wasting at once. B. We are short of resources.
C. China has a large population. D. Turn off the lights in time.
D
In order to solve the pollution problems and the shortage of natural resources, different countries take different measures. For example, bosses in Belgium, the Netherlands and other European countries are going to reward workers if they come to work by bike. That makes people protect the environment and have a healthy life.
In Belgium, if people go to work by bike, they will get 20 euro cents per kilometer. So far more than 270,000 people have been in the project.
If workers live up to 7 km away from work, Colruyt, a company, usually offers them bikes and helps to keep them in good condition.
The more people ride to work, the fewer parking spaces they need. Colruyt has more than 22,000 workers. Some workers live further away than 7 km. At the same time, their government offers them electric bicycles to make it easier to travel long distances. These policies have encouraged many people to ride bikes. What’s more, the measures can keep the workers healthier.
根据短文内容,选择正确答案。
32. According to the passage, ________ will get bicycles from Colruyt.
A. those living up to 7 km away B. those wanting to get one
C. those coming to work D. those living farther away than 7 km

①Cutting down fatty food or exercising more are the most popular ways to lose weight, but have you ever thought about whether our noses play a part in our weight?
②According to a recent study, not being able to smell our food before eating it may cause us to lose weight.
③A team of scientists at the University of California Berkeley, US, came to their conclusion (结论) after studying the result of smell and diet (饮食) on a group of mice. Henry, the lead of the study, said he first believed that mice with no sense of smell didn’t feel like eating as much food as the normal mice and end up eating less and became thinner. However, it was discovered that if the mice were unable to smell their food, they didn’t put on weight.
④To reach this conclusion, they did an experiment (实验). The first group of the mice was in normal condition. But in the second group, they broke some smelling neuron (神经元) of several mice by using virus (病毒), so their ability to smell was “switched off (关掉)”. Both of the two groups were fed the same amounts (数量) of fatty food. At the end of the experiment, those with their smelling ability switched off had not put on weight, while the first group had put on the pounds. The researches also showed that “supersmellers” mice put on the most weight.
⑤That is to say, even if the mice were given the same amount of food, the ones with smelling problems put on less weight. In fact, “Sensory systems (感官系统) play a role in metabolism (新陈代谢). Weight gain (增加)isn’t only about the calories (卡路里) taken in; it also has something to do with how those calories are perceived (识别).” Henry told the news.
⑥If it is true in humans, perhaps we can actually make a kind of medicine that doesn’t change the smell of people but still stops that metabolic circuitry (线路). That will be amazing. In the future, the findings could play a role in solving health problems such as overweight. In the meantime, however, getting plenty of physical exercise and eating the right foods are still important ways to keep our bodies in shape.
36. How does the writer develop his idea in Paragraph 4?
A. By comparing differences.
B. By giving examples.
C. By listing numbers and facts.
D. By explaining the reasons.
37. According to the passage, which of the following is true?
A. Henry used to believe eating less is the main reason of the weight loss of the mice.
B. In the experiment the mice which are “supersmellers” ate the most food and put on the most weight.
C. The weight we put on only depends on how much calories we take in.
D. Taking exercise and eating the right foods are not so necessary in weight control.
38. Which of the following charts shows the right relation according to the experiment?
A. B.
C. D.
39. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
A. B.
C. D.

Many girls today love xiaoxianrou, or “little fresh meat”, which refers to young male stars who are delicate (精致的) and cute. Lin Bing just wants to be that man, so he has spent around 80,000 yuan on his face since his first plastic surgery (整形手术) four years ago. “Getting plastic surgeries is just as usual as body building. Both make men more handsome and confident,” says the 33- year- old young man.
Lin Bing is among a growing number of Chinese men using plastic surgeries to change their physical appearance(外貌) to increase their self- confidence. In 2024, the market for beauty medicine in China was worth more than 695 billion yuan. Surprisingly, around 25 percent of customers were males, while this was only 5 percent in 2020, according to a report by plastic surgery social networking app Gengmei.
There is a rising trend (潮流) of young men turning to plastic surgeries; most male customers are in their teens or 20s. “Some men just want to please themselves, while others hope to improve their possibility in job market,” says Wang Jun, vice- president of marketing for Gengmei. “Men are under the same social stress as women and their confidence and competitiveness would be more or less weakened by facial and body weaknesses.”
However, Fan Jufeng, director of the Plastic Surgery Department at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, does not encourage people, no matter men or women, to “blindly” go under the knife. Fan points out that people should think about the risks of plastic surgeries at first.
Fan also warned the public of the bad influences of live streaming celebrities (流量明星) who spread the misunderstanding—“Pretty goes above all else.” He advised that whether to have plastic surgeries should be based on personal needs. Fan says, “Think twice on it. After all, a rich and beautiful inner beauty is far more important than a pretty face.”
45. Are there more and more Chinese men using plastic surgeries?
_____________________________________
46. According to Wang Jun, why do more and more young men turn to plastic surgeries?

47. What should people think about before going under the knife according to the experts?

根据“Each year there is an increasing number of cars on roads and streets. That’s because…new cars are produced.”可知,每年生产的新车数量是数百万的,millions of表示泛指“数百万的”,符合语境,故选A。
【2题详解】
句意:每六个美国人中就有一个从事汽车零部件组装、驾驶卡车、修建道路或给汽车加油的工作。
put放;to put动词不定式;putting动名词;has put现在完成时。根据“One out of every six Americans works at…together the parts of cars…”可知,此处是固定短语work at doing sth.“从事于做某事”,应用动名词形式,故选C。
【3题详解】
句意:然而,一些人已经意识到汽车造成的空气污染的严重问题。
But但是;However然而;And和;So所以。根据“Most Americans find it hard to think what life would be like without a car…some have realized the serious problem of air pollution by cars.”可知,前后句之间是转折关系,且空格后有逗号隔开,应用however表示转折,故选B。
