Last month, I went to a rainforest museum with my science teacher. It was a special experience because I saw many plants and animals that I had only read about in books.
The museum has a small rainforest area with real trees and flowers. We saw a kapok tree, which is one of the tallest trees in the rainforest. There were also some Venus flytraps—they are special plants that eat insects! When a bug lands on their leaves, the leaves close quickly to catch it.
In the animal area, we watched a sloth move slowly on a tree. It was so slow that we almost thought it was a toy. We also saw some colorful parrots. They could even say “Hello” to us. The guide told us that parrots are smart and can learn human language.
We spent three hours there. I took many photos and wrote down notes about the plants and animals. I learned that rainforests are important for our planet, and we need to protect them. It was a great trip for my science class.

Plants are important for all living things. They give us oxygen, food and even materials for clothes. Here are some interesting facts about plants that you may not know.
First, some plants can “talk” to each other. When a plant is attacked by insects, it sends out a special gas. This gas tells other plants nearby to make a chemical that keeps insects away.
Second, plants can sense light. Sunflowers are a good example—they turn their flowers towards the sun during the day. At night, they slowly turn back to face east, waiting for the sun to rise again.
Third, some plants can move quickly. The mimosa plant closes its leaves when you touch it. It looks like it’s “hiding” from your hand. This helps it protect itself from being hurt.
Plants are more amazing than we think. Next time you see a plant, take a moment to watch it—you may find something interesting!
( )26. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How to take care of plants. B. Interesting facts about plants.
C. Why plants need sunlight. D. Different kinds of plants.
( )27. How do plants “talk” to each other when attacked by insects?
A. They make a loud noise. B. They send out a special gas.
C. They change their color. D. They grow thorns quickly.
( )28. Why do sunflowers turn towards the sun?
A. Because they need sunlight to grow. B. Because they want to “follow” the sun.
C. Because they are afraid of the dark. D. Because they need to protect their flowers.
(三)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。(共 12 分,每小题 2 分)
My name is Linda. Last summer, I went to Kenya with my parents. It’s a country in Africa famous for its wildlife. We stayed in a safari camp near a national park.
Every morning, we took a jeep to watch animals in the park. On the first day, we saw a group of elephants. They were drinking water from a river. A baby elephant played with its mother—it was so cute! We also saw lions resting under a tree. The guide told us that lions usually sleep during the day and hunt at night.
In the afternoon, we visited a local village. The people there grow crops like corn and beans. They also told us about a special tree called the baobab. It has a thick trunk that can store water, which is important in the dry season.
We stayed for a week. I learned that African wildlife is beautiful but needs protection. Many animals are in danger because of habitat loss. I hope people can do more to protect them. It was an unforgettable trip, and I want to go back someday.
