Art and science may seem totally different. Some people believe that art is about creative ideas, while science means cold data (数据). However, they actually have a lot in common. A study even showed that art can help students better remember what they’ve learned in science class. Mariale Hardiman, an education specialist at Johns Hopkins University, found that students using art in class listened more carefully, asked more questions, and volunteered more ideas. To prove this, Hardiman teamed up with some researchers and six local schools. In the experiment (实验), the researchers worked with teachers in 16 fifth-grade classrooms. They provided both traditional and art-centered science lessons. In art-centered classes, students might sing the information instead of just reading it. The team divided 350 students into two groups. One group started with traditional science classes, while the other began with art-centered ones. About three weeks later, the students switched (对调). This way, each student experienced both teaching methods. Every unit was taught in both ways to different groups. This helped researchers compare how students performed in each type of class. The results showed that students who started off in traditional classes did better after moving to art-centered ones. Those who started with art-centered classes continued to do well even when they went back to traditional classes. These students seemed to use the art skills they’d learned. Teachers also reported that many students kept singing the songs they learned after finishing the unit. Hardiman said, “The more we hear something, the more we remember it. Art might help students find creative ways to learn on their own.” 1.What is a common belief about art and science? A.They can lift our spirits. B.They share a lot in common. C.They are like opposite things. D.They teach us to be reasonable. 2.What were the students asked to do in the experiment? A.Lead group discussions. B.Attend two kinds of classes. C.Give a speech in the lab. D.Pick their favourite teachers. 3.What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us about the experiment? A.Its process. B.Its change. C.Its importance. D.Its advantage. 4.How do the students probably benefit from art according to Hardiman? A.Learn about teamwork. B.Forget terrible memories. C.Improve language skills. D.Develop creative learning. 根据第一段中“Art and science may seem totally different. Some people believe that art is about creative ideas, while science means cold data (数据). (艺术和科学看似完全不同。一些人认为艺术关乎创意,而科学意味着冰冷的数据)”可知,人们普遍认为艺术和科学是对立的。故选C项。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段中“One group started with traditional science classes, while the other began with art-centered ones. About three weeks later, the students switched (对调). This way, each student experienced both teaching methods. (一组从传统的科学课程开始,而另一组从以艺术为中心的课程开始。大约三周后,学生们互换了。这样,每个学生都能体验到两种教学方法)”可知,在实验中,学生需参与传统课和艺术融合课两种课程。故选B项。 3.主旨大意题。根据第四段中“The team divided 350 students into two groups. One group started with traditional science classes, while the other began with art-centered ones. About three weeks later, the students switched (对调). This way, each student experienced both teaching methods. Every unit was taught in both ways to different groups. (研究小组将350名学生分成两组。一组从传统的科学课程开始,而另一组从以艺术为中心的课程开始。大约三周后,学生们互换了。这样,每个学生都能体验到两种教学方法。每个单元都以两种方式教授给不同的小组)”可知,该段详细描述实验过程:分组、课程安排、交换、单元重复教学。故选A项。 4. 根据最后一段中Hardiman所说的话“The more we hear something, the more we remember it. Art might help students find creative ways to learn on their own. (我们听到的越多,记住的就越多。艺术可以帮助学生找到创造性的自学方法)”可知,Hardiman认为艺术帮助学生发展创造性学习能力。故选D项。 As a high school freshman, my early high school life could be described as “struggling to get As and Bs”. When I first entered Carnegie Vanguard High School, everyone told me how difficult the studies would be and what academic challenges I would face, and later, it turned out they were absolutely right. There’s a certain weight in your heart when you open up your grade book to see that you got a 30 on a test. The truth is that grades do not matter or define (给……下定义) you all that much. Try not to let your grades influence your feelings too much. While getting a good standard as a student is crucial, your academic record does not show whether or not you will succeed in the future. Do your best to get good grades, but a few bad ones aren’t the end of the world. Some people say that the most important way to succeed is to manage your time well, and the easiest way to do that is to write down what you need to do. Carnegie High School gives each student a complete calendar with a planner. At the start of my freshman year, I used it every day and wrote down every assignment. However, I soon got tired of this and thought I could remember everything with just my memory — that was a big mistake. Within a few days, I found I couldn’t remember all the assignments. It was then that I realized: writing things down by hand makes it much easier to plan your tasks. Human Geography is probably one of the most challenging courses for me. What makes it hard is not the teacher or the course content, but the 20 pages of reading we have to finish every day. So here’s a piece of advice I want to share: keep reading Reading is one of the most important ways we learn. Reading long articles may feel tiring and boring, but it will definitely benefit you in the end. 1.What did people tell the writer before he entered Carnegie Vanguard High School? A.The school was very easy for freshmen. B.The teachers were not friendly. C.He would get good grades easily. D.The studies there would be difficult. 2.What does the underlined word “crucial” in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Puzzling. B.Important. C.Simple. D.Difficult. 3.What can we infer (推断) about the writer from Paragraphs 3 and 4? A.The writer still uses his memory to remember homework now. B.The writer thinks reading doesn’t help with learning Human Geography. C.The writer has a better way to manage his homework. D.The writer wants to stop taking the Human Geography class. 4.What is the main idea of the passage? A.The writer’s experiences as a freshman and the useful tips he gained. B.The writer’s advice on how to get good grades in high school. C.The writer’s hard time in Carnegie Vanguard High School. D.The difficulties of learning Human Geography in high school. 根据文章第一段“When I first entered Carnegie Vanguard High School, everyone told me how difficult the studies would be and what academic challenges I would face , and later, it turned out they were absolutely right.(当我第一次进入卡内基文先锋高中时,每个人都告诉我学习会有多难,我会面临什么样的学术挑战, 后来,事实证明他们完全正确。)可推知,人们告诉作者在该校的学习会很困难。故选D。 2.词句猜测题。根据文章第2段划线词所在句“While getting a good standard as a student is crucial, your academic record does not show whether or not you will succeed in the future.(虽然在学生阶段取得良好的成绩是crucial,但你的学业成绩并不能表明你未来是否会取得成功。)”可知,While 引导让步状语从句,前后文是转折关系,因此推断虽然作为学生取得好成绩是至关重要的,但是成绩并不能表明未来你会成功,可推知,crucial意为“重要的”。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据文章第三段的“Some people say that the most important way to succeed is to manage your time well, and the easiest way to do that is to write down what you need to do.(有人认为,要想取得成功,最重要的方法就是合理安排时间,而要做到这一点,最简单的方法就是把需要做的事情列出来。)”和文章第四段的“So here’s a piece of advice I want to share: keep reading Reading is one of the most important ways we learn.(所以这里我想分享一条建议:坚持阅读。 A。 You may not know a lot of people when you start senior high school. Maybe your friends from junior high school are going to a different senior high school. Even if you know other freshmen (一年级学生), you still feel anxious that you don’t know any upperclassmen. How are you going to make friends among this sea of unknown faces? Most senior high schools hold the freshman orientation (迎新会) before school actually starts. It is helpful because you not only learn your way around the building but also get to meet some of your teachers and fellow freshmen. That way, when you show up on your first day of school, you may already recognize a few familiar faces. When you talk to people at orientation, you’ll probably find that a lot of them are feeling just like you are. They’re all new to the school and don’t know what to expect. Talking about a common concern with your classmates can help you develop friendships. The work in senior high school is something freshmen are probably worried about. It builds on what you learned in junior high school, giving you a more advanced (高深的) knowledge of many subjects. So you may find you have more work to do or that it’s a bit more challenging. If you ever find your work too difficult, teachers can give you extra help. Senior high school also has more after-school activities than junior high school, such as clubs, music and theater groups and sports teams. This is a good time to explore your interests and try new things. Junior high school taught you the basics of time management and social skills while providing you with a little extra support and guidance. Senior high school gives you the chance to learn how to be more independent and responsible. 1.How do the freshmen usually feel on their first day of senior high school? A.Proud. B.Excited. C.Nervous D.Curious. 2.What are freshmen probably worried about? A.The ability to make friends. B.The learning task. C.The freshman orientation. D.The relationship with teachers. 3.What do after-school activities mainly help students to do? A.Develop friendships. B.Build up their strength. C.Develop their interests. D.Improve their learning ability. 4.What is the last paragraph mainly about? A.What you’ll learn in senior high school. B.What you learned in junior high school. C.The importance of being more independent and responsible. D.The difference between junior high school and senior one. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.C 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要针对高一新生刚入学时可能面临的问题,提供了一些实用建议,并对比初高中差异,帮助新生更好地适应高中生活。 1.推理判断题。根据文章第一段“Even if you know other freshmen (一年级学生), you still feel anxious that you don’t know any upperclassmen. (即便你认识其他高一新生,也仍会因不认识任何学长学姐而感到焦虑。)”以及第三段“When you talk to people at orientation, you’ll probably find that a lot of them are feeling just like you are. They’re all new to the school and don’t know what to expect. (在迎新会上与人交流时,你很可能会发现,很多人和你的感受一样——大家都是刚来到这所学校,对未来的校园生活毫无头绪。)”可知,高一新生刚入学时,即便认识其他新生,也会因不认识学长学姐、对新学校陌生而感到焦虑。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“The work in senior high school is something freshmen are probably worried about. (高中的学业很可能是高一新生担心的问题。)”可知,高中的学业任务是高一新生很可能会担心的事情。故选B。 3.细节理解题。根据文章第五段“Senior high school also has more after-school activities than junior high school, such as clubs, music and theater groups and sports teams. This is a good time to explore your interests and try new things. (高中的课外活动也比初中丰富,比如各种社团、音乐戏剧小组和运动队。这是一个探索个人兴趣、尝试新鲜事物的好时机。)”可知,高中课外活动的主要作用是为学生提供探索兴趣、尝试新事物的机会,即帮助学生发展个人兴趣。故选C。 4.主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“Junior high school taught you the basics of time management and social skills while providing you with a little extra support and guidance. Senior high school gives you the chance to learn how to be more independent and responsible. (初中阶段,学校在教你时间管理和社交技能基础知识的同时,还会给予你较多额外的支持与指导;而高中则为你提供了学习如何更独立、更有责任感的机会。)”可知,最后一段通过并列阐述初中阶段(教授时间管理和社交技能基础知识、提供额外支持指导)与高中阶段(提供学习独立和承担责任的机会)的不同,核心是展现初高中的差异。选项D“The difference between junior high school and senior one. (初中和高中的区别)”符合段落主旨。故选D。 Adam is a freshman at senior high school. Transitioning from junior high to senior high is a real challenge for him, and the first week was somewhat confusing. First, he had to carefully decide on his courses. With the school adviser’s help, he chose maths, English, chemistry, world history, and Chinese. D.He asked the coach for more training. 4.How does Adam feel about keeping up with other students in advanced courses? A.Very confident. B.A bit worried. C.Extremely excited. You may think you’re too busy to join one. But as a former high school student, I can tell you joining a school club can greatly benefit you. Your old friends may have left you after entering high school. And it means you need to meet new people. Joining a club allows you to talk with others and find those who have similar interests as you. Based on my experience, I have met some of my best friends from club activities which opened up many new doors for me. Another really nice thing about joining a club is that it looks really good on your applications. Trying new things is something that looks really good on any application. Being outgoing is considered a very good quality. What’s more, it can help you develop skills that can serve you during future college interviews. Besides, joining a club can make students use their free time wisely. Most teens go to schools, then go back home and spend the rest of the day in front of a screen. Teens are also very likely to fall into the wrong crowd, which could lead to some bad results. Clubs are good places to spend time, with good people to fall back on. The most important reason why you should join a club is the long-term benefits it brings. The skills you learn in clubs are necessary ones that can be used in everyday life, which I think is the final goal of joining a club. So if you haven’t joined a school club yet, you know what you should do now. 1.What can we learn from the second paragraph? A.Friends should share common interests. B.Joining a club helps one make friends. C.Joining a club benefits one’s mental health. D.Friends may leave each other sooner or later. 2.What does Paragraph 4 mean? A.Teens today aren’t so interested in joining clubs. B.Some classrooms are not big enough for students. C.Doing club activities can help teens attend a good university. D.Joining a club helps keep students away from doing bad things. 3.In the author’s opinion, what’s the greatest benefit of joining a club? A.Developing new hobbies. B.Meeting different people. C.Getting useful life skills. D.Making use of your free time. 4.What’s the best title for the text? A.Why Should You Join a Club? B.What Club Should You Join? C.How Can You Join a Club You Like? D.Should You Join a Second Club? 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.C 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章论述了加入高中学校社团的益处,包括结交新朋友、丰富申请履历、明智利用空闲时间及获得长期生活技能等,鼓励未入社的同学积极加入。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Joining a club allows you to talk with others and find those who have similar interests as you. Based on my experience, I have met some of my best friends from club activities which opened up many new doors for me. (此外,加入一个俱乐部能让学生们合理利用他们的空闲时间。)”以及“Teens are also very likely to fall into the wrong crowd, which could lead to some bad results. Clubs are good places to spend time, with good people to fall back on.(青少年也很容易陷入不良群体之中,这可能会导致一些不良后果。俱乐部是个很好的消磨时间的场所,那里有值得信赖的好人可以依靠。)”可知,本段主要说明加入俱乐部可以帮助学生远离不良行为。故选D。 3.细节理解题。根据最后一段中“The most important reason why you should join a club is the long-term benefits it brings. The skills you learn in clubs are necessary ones that can be used in everyday life, which I think is the final goal of joining a club. (你加入俱乐部最重要的原因在于它能带来的长期益处。你在俱乐部中所学到的技能都是实用的,能够应用于日常生活,我认为这就是加入俱乐部的最终目的。)”可知,作者认为加入俱乐部的最大好处是获得有用的生活技能。故选C。 4.主旨大意题。根据第一段中“But as a former high school student, I can tell you joining a school club can greatly benefit you.(但作为一名高中生,我可以告诉你,加入学校俱乐部会让你受益匪浅。)”和最后一段中“So if you haven’t joined a school club yet, you know what you should do now.(所以,如果你还没有加入学校俱乐部,你现在就知道该怎么做了。)”以及通读全文可知,文章主要讲述了加入学校俱乐部的好处,鼓励读者加入俱乐部。因此,最佳标题是A选项“Why Should You Join a Club?(你为什么要加入俱乐部?)”。故选A。 With the world’s longest high-speed rail network and new record-breaking bullet trains, China is reshaping how travelers explore this vast nation. The Xiamen — Fuzhou Railway From Xiamen, you can travel inland to explore Fujian’s Tulou — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of huge, circular houses made of earth and wood, some more than 700 years old. With more time, extend the journey on an additional four-hour hop to the provincial capital, Fuzhou, known for its hot springs and ancient alleyways, like Sanfang Qixiang, whose layout and wooden architecture go back as far as the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE). The Kunming — Shangri-la Railway Starting from Kunming, the journey can be done as a series of stops at towns like Dali and Lijiang, both known for their ancient architecture and minority cultures, or you can speed straight through to its last stop in about five hours: Shangri-la. The Lanzhou — Dunhuang Railway Stretching across the northwest deserts in Gansu Province, this high-speed journey follows the camel trails that were used for centuries to trade silk, spices, and philosophy. Today, starting in Lanzhou, the train sails through the Hexi Corridor, through Zhangye with its colorful Rainbow Hills, Wuwei, where the famous Flying Horse of Gansu was uncovered, and Jiayuguan, the western end of the Great Wall, before finally arriving in Dunhuang, home to the Mogao Caves. The Qinghai — Tibet Railway Technically the only non-high-speed train on this list, the Qinghai — Tibet Railway is an engineering wonder built on the challenging land. Starting in Xining, the provincial capital of Qinghai Province, this overnight journey first passes the blue waters of the Qinghai Lake before crossing the Tibetan Plateau (where you might spot antelope and other wildlife), and up into the Himalayas, arriving the next morning in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa. 1.Where is Sanfang Qixiang? A.In Xiamen. B.In Kunming. C.In Fuzhou. D.In Lijiang. 2.What can visitors see in Wuwei? A.The Rainbow Hills. B.The Flying Horse. C.The Mogao Caves. D.The Great Wall. 3.What is unique about the Qinghai — Tibet Railway? A.It is not a high-speed railway. B.It just operates in the daytime. C.It runs through minority areas. D.It is best-known for its scenery. 【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 【导语】本文为一篇应用文。文章介绍了中国几条著名的铁路线路,包括厦门至福州铁路、昆明至香格里拉铁路、兰州至敦煌铁路和青海至西藏铁路。 1.细节理解题。根据The Xiamen — Fuzhou Railway下文内容“Fuzhou, known for its hot springs and ancient alleyways, like Sanfang Qixiang, whose layout and wooden architecture go back as far as the Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE).(福州以温泉和古巷闻名,比如三坊七巷,其布局和木质建筑可追溯至唐朝(公元 618 - 907 年))”可知,原文明确提到三坊七巷(Sanfang Qixiang)是福州(Fuzhou)的古巷景点。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据The Lanzhou — Dunhuang Railway下文内容“Today, starting in Lanzhou, the train sails through the Hexi Corridor, through Zhangye with its colorful Rainbow Hills, Wuwei, where the famous Flying Horse of Gansu was uncovered, and Jiayuguan, the western end of the Great Wall, before finally arriving in Dunhuang, home to the Mogao Caves.(今天,列车从兰州出发,穿行于河西走廊,途经拥有五彩斑斓的七彩丹霞地貌的张掖,著名的甘肃马踏飞燕出土之地武威,以及长城西端的嘉峪关,最终抵达莫高窟所在的敦煌)”可知,游客在武威可以参观“马踏飞燕”。故选B。 3.细节理解题。根据The Qinghai — Tibet Railway下文内容“Technically the only non-high-speed train on this list, the Qinghai — Tibet Railway is an engineering wonder built on the challenging land.(作为清单上唯一的非高速铁路,青藏铁路是一项建立在极具挑战性的土地上的工程奇迹)”可知,青藏铁路的特殊之处在于它是一条非高速铁路。故选A。 Have you been dreaming of taking a vacation, but wonder whether it’s better to take a solo journey, or have an adventure with friends? In my opinion, there are advantages in both travelling alone and in a group. Group travel is generally much cheaper. You can get group rates on accommodations, certain modes of transportation, or tickets to tourist attractions. If you’re able to reduce costs, you’ll have extra money to see and do more things. It is also safer to travel in a group. Do you remember when you were little your parents or teachers used the “buddy system”? It doesn’t only apply to children. It’s especially true when travelling, particularly in unknown places. Nobody can forecast problems or dangers on the way, such as traffic accidents and conflicts with strangers. When you travel with a friend or within a group, you have someone to watch your back. Travelling with other people can also create shared experiences. For many people this is the best part of travelling-there’s always someone to do things with, laugh with, share stories with, and make memories with. These are just some of the reasons why travelling with friends can be more fun. However, if you travel alone, you are the boss. There’s no one to tell you where to go or what to do, and you don’t have to make compromises (妥协).You can do things at your own pace, on your own timetable. For some people, meeting other travellers is part of the fun of travelling alone. A lot of solo travellers seem to end up in the same spots, so you have a chance to meet other people with the same interests. You can join them and spend some time together, then go your separate ways. Some people take trips alone because they want time to reflect. If you simply enjoy being on your own, or want to be with your own thoughts, without anyone else bothering you, then solo travel might be the way to go. In general, whether you choose to travel solo or in a group mainly depends on your personality. Think of how you are in your everyday life-do you value your time alone, or do you prefer to be in the company of others? It might not seem like a big deal, but if you’re travelling for any length of time, it could mean the difference between an enjoyable, memorable vacation, and an unhappy trip. 1.What is the advantage of group travel, according to Paragraph 2? A.You can save money by sharing a hotel room with friends. B.You can choose what kind of transportation you want to take. C.You can do many fun activities and laugh happily with friends. D.You can visit a lot more places with friends for less money. 2.What does “buddy system” mean in Paragraph 3? A.A rule you should follow at school. B.Your parents’ suggestion for making friends. C.A way to ensure your safety when going out. D.A rule of not travelling to unknown places. 3.What advantage of solo travel is not mentioned? A.You can decide where to go, when to go, and what to eat. B.You can join other travellers based on your interests. C.You can have time to reflect and think alone. D.You can share memories with your friends after the journey. 4.What is the author’s attitude? A.Group travel is better than solo travel. B.Travelling alone has more positive factors. C.The way you like to travel depends on your personality. D.It is not a big deal to choose to travel alone or in a group. 【答案】1.D 2.C 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讲述了独自旅行与结伴旅行各有优势,并指出旅行方式的选择取决于个人性格。 1.细节理解题。根据第二段“Group travel is generally much cheaper. You can get group rates on accommodations, certain modes of transportation, or tickets to tourist attractions. If you’re able to reduce costs, you’ll have extra money to see and do more things.(跟团旅行通常要便宜得多。你可以获得住宿、某些交通方式或旅游景点门票的团体价格。如果你能降低成本,你就会有多余的钱去看更多的东西,做更多的事情。)”可知,结伴旅行的优势是更便宜,能节省开支,进而有额外资金去更多地方、做更多事。故选D。 2.词义猜测题。根据第三段“It is also safer to travel in a group. Do you remember when you were little your parents or teachers used the “buddy system”? It doesn’t only apply to children. It’s especially true when travelling, particularly in unknown places. Nobody can forecast problems or dangers on the way, such as traffic accidents and conflicts with strangers. When you travel with a friend or within a group, you have someone to watch your back.(团体旅行也更安全。你还记得小时候你的父母或老师用的……吗?这不仅适用于儿童。旅行时尤其如此,尤其是在不熟悉的地方。没有人能预测到路上的问题或危险,比如交通事故和与陌生人的冲突。当你和朋友一起旅行或跟团旅行时,有人会帮你照应。)”可推测,“buddy system”是为了保障出行安全,即有人互相照应,从而确保外出安全的方式。故选C。 3.细节理解题。根据第五段“There’s no one to tell you where to go or what to do, and you don’t have to make compromises (妥协).You can do things at your own pace, on your own timetable. For some people, meeting other travellers is part of the fun of travelling alone. A lot of solo travellers seem to end up in the same spots, so you have a chance to meet other people with the same interests. You can join them and spend some time together, then go your separate ways. Some people take trips alone because they want time to reflect.(没有人告诉你要去哪里或做什么,你也不需要做出妥协。 D“You can share memories with your friends after the journey.(你可以旅行后能和朋友分享回忆)”不是独自旅行的优点。故选D。 4.细节理解题。根据最后一段“In general, whether you choose to travel solo or in a group mainly depends on your personality.(一般来说,你选择独自旅行还是跟团旅行主要取决于你的个性。)”可知,作者的态度是旅行方式的选择主要取决于个人性格。故选C。 Travelling around the world has become increasingly accessible in recent decades, with more people than ever exploring foreign countries and cultures. This trend has significant impacts on both travelers and the destinations they visit. One of the most obvious benefits of travel is cultural exposure. When people visit different countries, they experience new customs, traditions, and ways of life firsthand. This direct exposure often leads to greater cultural understanding and tolerance. Many travelers return home with broadened perspectives and a deeper appreciation for diversity. Travel also promotes personal growth. Navigating unfamiliar environments challenges people to adapt and problem-solve. Whether it’s communicating in a foreign language, figuring out public transportation, or trying new foods, these experiences build confidence and resilience. However, mass tourism has raised concerns about its environmental and cultural impacts. Popular destinations often struggle with overcrowding, pollution, and damage to historical sites. Additionally, the influx of tourists can sometimes lead to the commercialization of local cultures. In response to these concerns, sustainable tourism practices are gaining popularity. This approach emphasizes minimizing negative impacts while maximizing benefits for local communities.Sustainable travelers choose eco-friendly accommodations, support local businesses, and respect cultural norms and environments. As travel continues to evolve, finding a balance between exploration and preservation will be crucial for ensuring that future generations can also experience the wonders of our world. 1.What is the main purpose of the passage? A.To advertise popular tourist destinations B.To discuss the impacts and evolution of travel C.To criticize the negative effects of tourism D.To provide tips for sustainable travel 2.According to the passage, how does travel promote personal growth? A.By providing opportunities to take photos B.By challenging people to adapt to new environments C.By allowing people to escape their daily routines D.By helping people make new friends on social media 3.What is sustainable tourism according to the passage? A.Tourism that focuses on visiting natural environments B.Tourism that minimizes negative impacts and benefits local communities C.Tourism that involves staying in luxury hotels D.Tourism that avoids visiting popular destinations 【答案】1.B 2.B 3.B 【导语】这是一篇说明文。本文指出环球旅行愈发普及,既带来文化了解、个人成长等益处,也存在环境破坏、文化商业化等问题,可持续旅游兴起,未来需平衡探索与保护。 1.推理判断题。根据第一段“Travelling around the world has become increasingly accessible in recent decades, with more people than ever exploring foreign countries and cultures. This trend has significant impacts on both travelers and the destinations they visit.(近几十年来,环球旅行变得越来越容易实现,越来越多的人开始探索其他国家和文化。这一趋势对旅行者以及他们所访问的地区都有着重大影响)”结合本文指出环球旅行愈发普及,既带来文化了解、个人成长等益处,也存在环境破坏、文化商业化等问题,可持续旅游兴起,未来需平衡探索与保护。可知,这篇文章的主要目的是讨论旅行的影响及演变情况。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段“Travel also promotes personal growth. Navigating unfamiliar environments challenges people to adapt and problem-solve. Whether it’s communicating in a foreign language, figuring out public transportation, or trying new foods, these experiences build confidence and resilience.(旅行还能促进个人成长。在陌生的环境中探索会促使人们适应新环境并解决问题。无论是用外语交流、弄清楚公共交通路线,还是尝试新食物,这些经历都能增强自信和抗压能力)”可知,旅行通过促使人们适应新的环境促进个人成长。故选B。 3.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“In response to these concerns, sustainable tourism practices are gaining popularity. This approach emphasizes minimizing negative impacts while maximizing benefits for local communities. Sustainable travelers choose eco-friendly accommodations, support local businesses, and respect cultural norms and environments.(针对这些担忧,可持续旅游模式正逐渐受到欢迎。这种模式强调在减少负面影响的同时,最大限度地为当地社区带来益处。可持续旅游者会选择环保型住宿设施,支持当地企业,并尊重当地的文化规范和环境)”可知,可持续旅游指的是尽量减少负面影响并为当地社区带来益处的旅游活动。故选B。 After immigrating to the United States from the West Indies in 1901, 19-year-old Bob Douglas found a job as a doorman in New York City. One day, a co-worker took him to visit an upstairs basketball court, and he was stunned by the athletic skills on display. Inspired by that moment, Douglas was determined to create a basketball team — the New York Renaissance — which was the first Black-owned, all-Black professional basketball team at that time. Needing a practice spot for his team, Douglas sought casino (赌场) owner William Roach’s permission to use the dance floor before late-night dancing, offering to cover team costs and bear all financial risk. Besides, the team had to travel the country playing any opponent that would agree to schedule them to go through two financial failures. They repeatedly encountered discrimination and racial violence, such as fistfights with white players and fans. The players were often banned from hotels and restaurants on the road. A basketball historian, Dick Engleberg said. “A lot of times they stayed in jails because that was the safest place they could stay.” No matter the obstacle, the Rens just kept winning. In 1925, the Rens shocked the world by defeating the Original Celtics, the most dominant all-white team of their day. During the 1932-33 season, the Renaissance won 88 straight games, a professional basketball record that remains unbroken. The Rens began to decline as its players got older and the tens of thousands of miles of traveling took its toll, but in time, they were recognized for the important role they played in advancing black athletes in basketball. Douglas, who had owned and coached the Rens for their entire 25-year run, has been today known as the “Father of Black Professional Basketball,” which ensures that although the Rens isn’t a household name, their legacy will never be forgotten. 1.What motivates Douglas to establish the team? A.The financial support he received. B.The impressive athletic skills he saw. C.His concern with the jobs for Black people. D.His desire to become a famous basketball coach. 2.What can we know from Engleberg’s words? A.The team chose jails to save money. B.Jails can provide basketball training facilities. C.The players were arrested for fighting with fans. D.The team could only find accommodation in jails. 3.What does the underlined phrase mean in the last paragraph? A.Gained more fans. B.Caused great losses. C.Discouraged the players. D.Boosted team performance. 4.What can best describe Douglas? A.Careful and humble. B.Strict and disciplined. C.Tolerant and dynamic. D.Determined and responsible. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.B 4.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。主要讲述Bob Douglas移民美国后受篮球运动启发,组建首支黑人职业篮球队,克服困难取得辉煌成就并获认可的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段中的“One day, a co-worker took him to visit an upstairs basketball court, and he was stunned by the athletic skills on display. Inspired by that moment, Douglas was determined to create a basketball team — the New York Renaissance — which was the first Black-owned, all-Black professional basketball team at that time.(一天,一位同事带他去参观楼上的篮球场,他被展示出的运动技巧惊呆了。受那一刻的启发,道格拉斯决心组建一支篮球队——纽约文艺复兴队,这是当时第一支由黑人拥有、全部由黑人组成的职业篮球队。)”可知,道格拉斯是被篮球场上展示的出色运动技巧所激励,才决定组建球队。故选B项。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“The players were often banned from hotels and restaurants on the road. A basketball historian, Dick Engleberg said. “A lot of times they stayed in jails because that was the safest place they could stay.”(球员们在路上经常被禁止进入酒店和餐厅。篮球历史学家迪克·恩格尔伯格说:“很多时候他们住在监狱里,因为那是他们能找到的最安全的地方。”)”可知,球队因种族歧视无法入住酒店,只能选择监狱作为住宿地点。故选D项。 3.词句猜测题。根据最后一段中的“The Rens began to decline as its players got older and the tens of thousands of miles of traveling took its toll, but in time, they were recognized for the important role they played in advancing black athletes in basketball. (文艺复兴队(The Rens)开始走向衰落,一方面是因为队员年龄增长,另一方面是数万英里的奔波跋涉让球队took its toll。但随着时间推移,他们因在推动黑人运动员参与篮球运动中所发挥的重要作用,获得了人们的认可。)”可知,长时间的旅行对球队产生了负面影响,导致球队衰落,“took its toll”应表示“造成损失、产生负面影响”。故选B项。 4.推理判断题。根据第一段中道格拉斯受启发后决心组建首支黑人职业篮球队,以及第二段中“Needing a practice spot for his team, Douglas sought casino owner William Roach’s permission to use the dance floor before late-night dancing, offering to cover team costs and bear all financial risk.(由于需要为球队寻找训练场地,道格拉斯请求赌场老板威廉·罗奇允许他们在深夜舞会前使用舞池,并主动提出承担球队费用和所有财务风险。)”可知,他为球队解决场地问题并承担风险,体现责任感;再结合球队面临种族歧视、财务失败等诸多困难仍坚持下去,且带领球队取得辉煌成绩,可见他意志坚定,因此“有决心且有责任感”最能描述道格拉斯。故选D项。 Even while standing atop the podium at the 2025 Chengdu World Games, Chinese karate (空手道) champion Gong Li still felt chills down her spine when recalling her career-threatening injury. The 26-year-old defeated her Japanese opponent Sarara Shimada by 5-1 in the women’s kumite — 61 kg final, securing China’s first ever World Games gold medal in the sport. During the 20th Asian Senior Karate Championship last September, Gong suffered a severe injury and had to receive two surgeries. “I was on the verge of breaking down,” she recalled. “Many athletes never fully recover from such injuries. Some even have to retire.” It was her love for karate and an unshakable belief in herself that brought her back to the field she has always longed for and loved, Gong said. To compete at the World Games on home soil, Gong pushed through a tough eight-month recovery after surgery. “The pain was almost unbearable in the early stage of recovery,” she said. During recovery training, she realized her skills, physical conditioning and muscle strength had significantly declined, having no idea if she could ever return to her peak form. But Gong refused to give up. She wrote on her Weibo account: “I’ve always believed that karate is a sport that demands courage — not just to fight bravely in competitions, but also to fearlessly rise again after setbacks and injuries.” Gong believes the latest victory carries significance, not just because it marks her first victory after her horrific injury, but also because it makes up for the Tokyo Olympics four years ago. On Aug.7, 2021, she claimed a bronze medal. “Back then, I was too focused on winning and didn’t perform my best,” she admitted. The comeback journey has given Gong fresh insights into karate. With improvements in punches, kicks and throws, she now competes with greater calmness and determination. 1.What is special about Gong Li’s World Games victory? A.It’s Gong Li’s first try in an international event. B.It’s China’s first World Games victory in karate. C.It’s Gong Li’s last performance before she retires. D.It’s China’s first gold medal at this World Games. 2.What brought her back to the field according to Gong Li? A.The passion for the sport. B.Her strong desire to win. C.Her return to peak form. D.The pressure from fans. 3.Which words best describe Gong Li? A.Fearless and humorous. B.Determined and efficient. C.Courageous and reflective. D.Optimistic and imaginative. 4.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Overcoming Fears in Big Games. B.Gong Li’s Secrets to Championship. C.Returning from Injury to Victory. D.Gong Li’s Survival from Injuries. 【答案】1.B 2.A 3.C 4.C 【导语】这是一篇新闻报道。文章主要讲述了中国空手道冠军龚莉在2025年成都世界运动会上夺冠的故事。 1.细节理解题。根据第一段“The 26-year-old defeated her Japanese opponent Sarara Shimada by 5-1 in the women’s kumite — 61 kg final, securing China’s first ever World Games gold medal in the sport.(这位26岁的选手在女子组手61公斤级决赛中以5比1击败日本选手Sarara Shimada,为中国赢得了该项目的首枚世界运动会金牌。)”可知,龚莉的世界运动会胜利的特别之处在于这是中国在世界运动会上空手道项目的首次胜利。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段“It was her love for karate and an unshakable belief in herself that brought her back to the field she has always longed for and loved, Gong said.(龚说,正是她对空手道的热爱和对自己坚定不移的信念,让她回到了她一直渴望和热爱的赛场。)”可知,根据龚莉的说法,是对这项运动的热爱让她回到了赛场。故选A。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段“I’ve always believed that karate is a sport that demands courage — not just to fight bravely in competitions, but also to fearlessly rise again after setbacks and injuries.(我一直认为空手道是一项需要勇气的运动——不仅要在比赛中勇敢地战斗,还要在挫折和受伤后无所畏惧地重新站起来。)”可知,龚莉是勇敢的;根据最后一段“Back then, I was too focused on winning and didn’t perform my best.(那时候,我太专注于赢了,没有发挥出最好的水平。)”和“The comeback journey has given Gong fresh insights into karate.(这次复出之旅让龚对空手道有了新的认识。)”可知,龚莉是善于反思的,所以最能描述龚莉的两个词是勇敢且善于反思。故选C。 4.主旨大意题。短文主要讲述了中国空手道冠军龚莉在2025年成都世界运动会上夺冠的故事,她克服了严重的伤病,经过八个月的艰苦康复,最终在比赛中取得了胜利,所以选项C“从伤病中复出,走向胜利”最能概括文章的主旨,可作为本文的标题。故选C。 As the most popular individual sport in America, jogging has enjoyed great popularity among people. The plain truth is that jogging is a cheap, quick and efficient way to maintain physical fitness. The most useful sort of exercise is the exercise that develops the heart, lungs, and circulatory (循环的) systems If these systems are fit, the body is ready for almost any sport and for almost any sudden demand made by work or emergencies. Running trains your heart and lungs to deliver oxygen more efficiently to all parts of your body. It is worth noting that this sort of exercise is the only kind that can reduce heart disease, the number one cause of death in America. Only one sort of equipment is needed—a good pair of shoes. Physicians advise beginning joggers not to run in tennis or gym shoes. Many design advances have been made in only the last several years that make excellent running shoes necessary if a runner wishes to develop as quickly as possible, with as little chance of injury as possible. A good running shoe will have a soft pad for absorbing (缓冲) shock, as well as a slightly built-up heel and a full heel-cup that will give the knee and ankle more stability. A wise investment in good shoes will prevent the foot, ankle and knee injuries and will also enable the wearer to run on paved or soft surfaces. No other special equipment is needed; you can jog in any clothing you desire, even your street clothes. In cold weather, several layers of clothing are better than one heavy sweater or coat. If joggers are wearing several layers of clothing, they can add or remove layers as conditions change. It takes surprisingly little time to develop the ability to run. The American Jogging Association has a twelve-week program designed to move from a fifteen-minute walk to a thirty-minute run. A measure of common sense, a physical examination, and a planned schedule are all it takes. 1.What’s the main idea of this passage? A.It introduces jogging as a useful and practical sport. B.It describes the type of clothing needed for jogging. C.It distinguishes between jogging and other sports events D.It provides scientific evidence of the benefits of jogging. 2.Why is wearing several layers of clothing in winter better recommended? A.It can keep warmer. B.It is a popular trend. C.It looks much more fashionable. D.It’s easier to adjust when necessary. 3.Which of the following statements is TRUE? A.Jogging needs no special equipment but long-time practice. B.For beginning joggers, tennis or gym shoes are better choices. C.Jogging can do good to the heart, lungs and help reduce heart disease. D.A pair of good running shoes with a full heel-cup is designed to prevent shock. 4.What’s the author’s attitude towards jogging? A.Doubtful. B.Supportive. C.Neutral. D.Objective. 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.C 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章详细介绍了慢跑(jogging)在美国作为最受欢迎的个人运动项目的相关情况。 1.主旨大意题。根据第一段“As the most popular individual sport in America, jogging has enjoyed great popularity among people. The plain truth is that jogging is a cheap, quick and efficient way to maintain physical fitness.(慢跑作为美国最受欢迎的个人运动,深受人们的喜爱。显而易见的事实是,慢跑是一种廉价、快速和有效的保持身体健康的方法)”可知,第一段总体概述了慢跑的好处。第二段是对慢跑作用的说明。第三段介绍了此项运动只需要准备跑鞋,方便实行。可知,这篇文章的主旨是介绍慢跑是一项实用的运动。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据第四段中“If joggers are wearing several layers of clothing, they can add or remove layers as conditions change.(如果慢跑者穿了好几层衣服,他们可以随着情况的变化增加或减少层数)”可知,慢跑者冬天穿几层衣服更好,这是因为这样他们更容易灵活调整——增减衣服。故选D。 3.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Running trains your heart and lungs to deliver oxygen more efficiently to all parts of your body. It is worth noting that this sort of exercise is the only kind that can reduce heart disease, the number one cause of death in America.(跑步训练你的心和肺,更有效地将氧气输送到身体的各个部位。值得注意的是,这种运动是唯一一种可以减少心脏病的运动,而心脏病是美国人的头号死因)”可知,慢跑对心肺有好处且可以减少心脏疾病。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据第一段中“The plain truth is that jogging is a cheap, quick and efficient way to maintain physical fitness.(显而易见的事实是,慢跑是一种廉价、快速和有效的保持身体健康的方法)”以及最后一段中的“A measure of common sense, a physical examination, and a planned schedule are all it takes.(基本的常识、一次身体检查和一个有计划的时间表就足够了)”可知,慢跑很简单,且是一种廉价、快速和有效的保持身体健康的方法。因此作者对其持支持态度。故选B。 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 期中复习之阅读理解12篇 (Welcome Unit-Unit 3) 本资料共12篇专题训练,从上到下每单元依次对应3篇单元话题专题训练 单元 单元话题 Welcome Unit 高中生活 Unit 1 Teenage Life 青少年生活 Unit 2 Travelling Around 旅行 Unit 3 Sports and Fitness 运动与健康 Art and science may seem totally different. As a high school freshman, my early high school life could be described as “struggling to get As and Bs”. You may not know a lot of people when you start senior high school. Adam is a freshman at senior high school. Transitioning from junior high to senior high is a real challenge for him, and the first week was somewhat confusing. First, he had to carefully decide on his courses. With the school adviser’s help, he chose maths, English, chemistry, world history, and Chinese. He knows Chinese is tough but hopes to be fluent by graduation. His adviser also recommended he signs up for advanced literature since he loves and excels at English. Then, he needed to pick extra-curricular activities. He tried to join the school football team, but the coach said he didn’t play well enough. Though unhappy, he won’t quit and plans to improve on his own to make the team next year. Instead, he joined a volunteer club. Every Wednesday, they work at a soup kitchen, handing out food to homeless people in the community. Adam realizes he must study harder as a senior high student and get used to more responsibilities. He’s a bit worried about keeping up with classmates in advanced courses and adapting to all the homework. Still, he’s happy to be there. He knows studying hard isn’t always fun, but it will prepare him well for university or whatever comes in the future. 1.What did the school adviser help Adam do? A.Choose his extra-curricular activities. B.Choose suitable courses. C.Improve his football skills. D.Prepare for university. 2.Why did Adam’s adviser recommend advanced literature to him? A.Because Adam wants to study Chinese well. B.Because Adam is interested in world history. C.Because Adam likes English and is good at it. D.Because Adam plans to be a literature teacher. 3.What did Adam do after failing to join the football team? A.He gave up on sports. B.He joined a volunteer club. C.He started to learn another sport. D.He asked the coach for more training. 4.How does Adam feel about keeping up with other students in advanced courses? A.Very confident. B.A bit worried. C.Extremely excited. D.Totally unconcerned. After entering high school, you may find there are many clubs at your school. C.Getting useful life skills. D.Making use of your free time. 4.What’s the best title for the text? A.Why Should You Join a Club? B.What Club Should You Join? C.How Can You Join a Club You Like? D.Should You Join a Second Club? With the world’s longest high-speed rail network and new record-breaking bullet trains, China is reshaping how travelers explore this vast nation. D.The Great Wall. 3.What is unique about the Qinghai — Tibet Railway? A.It is not a high-speed railway. B.It just operates in the daytime. C.It runs through minority areas. D.It is best-known for its scenery. Have you been dreaming of taking a vacation, but wonder whether it’s better to take a solo journey, or have an adventure with friends? Travelling around the world has become increasingly accessible in recent decades, with more people than ever exploring foreign countries and cultures. A.Tourism that focuses on visiting natural environments B.Tourism that minimizes negative impacts and benefits local communities C.Tourism that involves staying in luxury hotels D.Tourism that avoids visiting popular destinations After immigrating to the United States from the West Indies in 1901, 19-year-old Bob Douglas found a job as a doorman in New York City. Even while standing atop the podium at the 2025 Chengdu World Games, Chinese karate (空手道) champion Gong Li still felt chills down her spine when recalling her career-threatening injury. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
