My high school life was extremely busy and competitive not only in sports but also in academic subjects. The pressure (压力) of trying to get excellent grades while joining in various school activities could be great. Sometimes it seemed like I lived at school! When I was at home, my time was spent doing homework. Some days I was so busy finishing a project that I could hardly see my families.
I have a brother and a sister named Sally. She was nine years old. We used to see each other. But after I graduated from the primary school she attended, I saw her less and less. I tried to go to her soccer games, but I had my own play practices and meetings.
Then one day I came home, an empty house. I found a note from my mom. she was at my brother’s baseball game. However, my sister was at her friend’s and would be dropped off.
At five o’clock, I went to turn on the light near the front door and saw my sister walking towards the door with her friend and her friend’s father. I heard them talking.
“Is anyone at home?” the father asked.
“Just my mean elder sister—Linda and she only minds her own things. She’s probably in her room as usual,” my sister replied. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t even know this man but my sister was making me sound like one of Cinderella’s hateful stepsisters. I opened the door, thanked the father for bringing her home, then shut the door and started to cry.
To make a long story short, a huge fight followed that ended with me driving my sister to her room. But I realized what was worse than the fight was that I really hadn’t been a good elder sister. I had forgotten what was important and what really mattered. I had got caught in a lot of pressure and competition. In fact, my sister made me realize the grades I got didn’t matter to everyone—certainly not to her. All that matters to her is that I’m her elder sister, and that’s what matters to me, too.

You had better ask them not to put too much pressure on you. Besides, hard work is always necessary and essential since you expect good achievements in exams. Even worse, phones sometimes make us miss what’s happening right around us. Here’s how to take control without giving up your phone completely.
②A good way to use your phone less is to pick a special time each day. Choose 30 minutes after school just for phone use. During this time, really focus on what you’re doing-watch videos, message friends, or play games. But when time’s up, put your phone away.
