“What? Again? Don’t you ever get tired of going there?” asked Mr. Lee.
“Never! There are so many things to see there,” answered Sue.
On Saturday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Lee, together with their two children, drove to Mount Faber. This time they took the cable car (缆车) to Sentosa from there instead of driving. The cable car ride was fantastic.

Sue and Shawn got together with their parents at the food center. They had a late but delicious lunch. After that, the family walked to Sentosa Nature Discovery. It was their very first visit there. “May we all be blessed with longevity. Though miles apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together (但愿人长久,千里共婵娟),” wrote Su Shi, a poet during the Song Dynasty, in his well-known poem to his younger brother Su Zhe.
The moon is at its brightest on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar. On this day, people celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. It has been enjoying great popularity all over the country.

“I don’t like my parents. They always tell me I should do this, and should not do that. It sometimes makes me angry,” said Wang Tao, a middle school student. Do you have the same problem? Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were your age long ago. Why does it seem that some parents are not so friendly in their children’s eyes?
One of the biggest things is when someone becomes a parent, he or she likes worrying They worry about everything about you, from the time you were born. They do a lot for you, though something would make you angry, because they care about you and worry about you. They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your work at school, how much sleep you get, etc. All these things are part of your life. They want you to grow up healthily and happily.
So how can you make things easier on yourself? It’s easier than you think. Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends. Call them if you stay somewhere else later than usual. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Take responsibility for what you have done. Talk about your ideas with them. They may talk about theirs with you.
Most of all, try to think about why your parents do this or do that. They are still practicing being parents and need help you can give them. Someday, when you become a parent, they may be able to help you how to get on with your children.
1.How does Wang Tao like his parents?
2.Why do parents do a lot for their children?
3.What should you do if you stay somewhere else later than usual?
4.What are your parents like in your eyes? Write 30 words or more
Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true. Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here is some advice for you to bridge the generation gap (代沟).
Don’t argue with your parents. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Firstly keep calm. Then make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Next think about what you want to say to them. If you don’t want to talk with them face to face, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise (和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your opinions to yourself and try to accept each other. Michael’s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a toy. They argued about it. But she finally agreed with him. Michael bought the toy, but only played it on certain days.
Of course, your parents might disagree with you on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect to them. It will help keep your relationship strong. Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from yours. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is a pleasure to have a try!
1.What’s the passage mainly about?
2.How can you reach a compromise with your parents?
3.Why should we show love and respect to parents when we disagree with each other from the text?
4.How do you get along with your parents? Write 30 words or more.

The phoenix coronet fridge magnet (凤冠冰箱贴) from the National Museum of China in Beijing is a big hit. A large number of museum visitors list it as one of the “most wanted cultural and creative products”.
The fridge magnet looks like a real ancient phoenix coronet from the Ming Dynasty and comes in two kinds: wooden and metal (金属). The metal coronets come with AR effects (效果). It allows people to see themselves wearing them after scanning a QR code.
Visitors can buy the fridge magnets at the museum’s gift shop. Fu Zicheng, a 12-year-old student from Beijing, first saw the phoenix coronet fridge magnet online. He liked it so much that he went to the National Museum of China to see the real thing and learn about its story. After seeing the real coronet and a large number of other exhibits in the museum, Fu shared, “It’s amazing to see the richness of Chinese history.”

The Palace Museum Will Welcome a New Member
The Palace Museum has begun to build a new branch (分支). The branch museum, located in Xiyuhe Village in Beijing’s Haidian District, will cover 620,000 square meters with a total floor area of 102,000 square meters. Exhibition areas, space for cultural relic (遗迹) repairing and storehouses will cover 35,000 square meters, 20,000 square meters and 23,000 square meters respectively. It will also include 9,500 square meters of space for digital public communications and a 2,500-square-meter visitor service area.
The branch museum for large cultural relic exhibitions is expected to welcome 3,000,000 visitors a year.
According to Shan Jixiang, the former director of the Palace Museum, the branch museum will present a series of exhibitions with characteristic themes and show visitors the efforts to repair the relics. “Having such a new museum will improve our service and enlarge our room to display our collections,” he said. The lack of enough exhibition space has been a lasting problem for the Palace Museum, which houses about 1,860,000 cultural relics. The need to provide a safe environment for the collections has meant that only two percent of the museum’s treasures can be displayed to the public at the same time. “It’s currently impossible to display the collections of large items in the Palace Museum, but the branch will offer good conditions to put them on display,” Shan said.
Red and yellow, two colors that were often used by royals in the Palace Museum are featured in the branch museum. It is also designed to be eco-friendly and energy-saving to match the natural environment.
When the branch museum is completed, it will become an important stop on Beijing’s cultural tourism routes, which also include the Old Summer Palace, the Great Wall at Badaling and the Ming Dynasty Tombs. It is said that the branch museum will be an important site for cross-cultural communication and help to make Beijing a global city in the future.

2.How many visitors is the branch museum expected to welcome a year?

Starting Grade 9 can feel a bit hard. The study pace (节奏) is faster, and there are more things to do. But if you take small steps, you can get used to it quickly:
First, make a daily plan. Write down homework, review time, and breaks. This helps you finish tasks on time without rushing. For example, spend 30 minutes reviewing each subject after school. Planning stops last-minute stress.
Second, learn to deal with pressure. It’s normal to feel stressed out about exams or hard lessons. When you’re stressed, take 5-minute breaks to walk or listen to music. Talking to parents or friends also helps. Remember, pressure can push you to work harder, but don’t let it make you nervous.
Third, ask for help early. If you don’t understand a lesson, talk to your teacher or classmates right away. Don’t wait until you’re lost. Many classmates face the same problems, and helping each other makes learning easier.
Finally, keep a healthy habit. Sleep 8 hours every night and eat healthy meals. A strong body helps you feel better in class. Even 15 minutes of exercise daily can give you more energy.
Grade 9 is a new start, not a big problem. With these tips, you’ll get used to the pace soon and do well in your studies.
